She tucked herself under his arm and snuggled against him. She doubted she would have believed it, if she had been told months ago—when she saw his intimidating figure standing on the threshold of the manor—that he would become as dear to her as her own self.
"Severus?" she murmured.
"Hmm?"
"Are you—sniffing me?" Elaine felt his large nose against her scalp.
He smiled against her forehead. "I was afraid you wouldn't like what I had to say. I felt foolish for putting it off—and you smell like lemons."
