Elaine woke alone, tucked up in his great bed, as the morning light filtered through indigo curtains. There was a note on the bedside table in his familiar spiky hand: Wait for me to come up for you. I took the liberty of laying out clothes in the en-suite.
The bathroom was elegant and he had brought her shampoo from her shower, which brought a smile to her face. She observed he space carefully. He had decorated in subdued colors, mostly blue and grey. No personal trinkets or memorabilia decorated the surfaces or walls. It was a sterile, safe space.
