Once again sorry for the delay, I wanted the proposal to be special for Olivia. Thank you to all those who reviewed the last chapter I really appreciate them very much.
Chapter 6: The Proposal
ONE MONTH LATER
Olivia and Jessica were out doing last minute shopping for her and Bayard's trip. Jessica picked up a dress to show Olivia, it would be perfect for Olivia to wear when her dad proposed to her. "Hey Livia this is a cute dress for your trip." Jessica said holding a turquoise short sleeve dress with a sweetheart neckline. "You should try it on."
Olivia nodded, it was a cute dress. They headed towards the dressing room area and Olivia went to try the dress on. When she came out Jessica sat there with her mouth open. "So…what do you think?" Olivia asked nervously.
"That dress looks amazing on you Livia, dad is going to love it he won't be able to keep his eyes off you, even though he has trouble doing that already." Jessica said happy she found the dress.
Olivia smiled, "Good," then she went to take the dress off and pay for it. They went to get a pair of shoes, jewelry, and a hand bag for the dress. As they were walking through the mall Olivia look at Jessica, "Hey Jess, how is that boy you were crushing on a couple of months ago." Olivia asked seeing how she hasn't heard about him in a while.
Jessica sighed, "He's a jerk…after he asked me out he decided he wanted to be with someone else instead." Jessica paused turning to Olivia, "I really thought he liked me." Jessica said sadly.
Olivia put a hand on Jessica's shoulder, "I'm sorry for what he did Jessica he missed out. Wish I had known what happen because we could have had eaten chocolate ice cream and watched a movie." Olivia said receiving a smile from Jessica. Olivia knew that Jessica would get her heart broken again before finding the one. She just hoped it wouldn't take Jessica as long as it did for her. "Hey let's go get something to eat, I'm starving." Olivia said hearing her stomach growl.
Jessica laughed, "Yeah let's eat."
They went to go eat at the food court, while eating Olivia's phone went off, Olivia groan knowing it was Nick which means she would have to go into work. Olivia answered her phone, "Benson…yeah…ok…I'll be there shortly…see you soon Nick." Olivia said hanging up, she sighed. "Sorry Jess I need to head into work there's a break in the case." Olivia said.
Jessica nodded, "Its fine Livia." Jessica said understanding this was part of her job.
"Do you mind hanging at the precinct until your dad can come get you." Olivia said figuring it would take longer to take Jessica home then head to the precinct.
"Doesn't matter, it would be nice to see where you work and to meet your co-worker." Jessica said.
Olivia nodded she called Bayard letting him know that she had to go to work and if he could pick Jessica up when he was finished in court, Bayard had no problem with that. They rushed in finishing their food then headed to the precinct. They arrived at the precinct.
Fin saw Olivia walk in with a young girl with her. "Hey Baby Girl," Fin said as he headed over towards the printer picking up some papers he just printed.
"Hey Fin, this is Jessica Bayard's daughter, Jessica this is Fin." Olivia said introducing them.
Fin walked up to them, "It's nice to meet you Jessica."
Jessica smiled at Fin Olivia told her a lot about Fin. The main the thing she could tell was that Fin was like a brother to Olivia, "Nice to meet you too."
"Hey guys," Nick said coming in walking towards his desk.
"Hey Nick, like you to meet Jessica, Jessica this is my partner Nick." Olivia said
"Nice to meet you Jessica," Nick said with a smile. "Hey Liv we got the guy in the interrogation room right now ready." Nick said
Olivia nodded, "Be right back." Olivia said she saw Fin putting his jacket on, "Leaving?" Olivia asked.
Fin nodded, "Yeah Manda still sick, going to pick up some soup for her. Have fun on your trip Baby Girl and nice meeting you Jessica."
"Well, tell Amanda I said I hope she feels better." Olivia said following Nick to the interrogation room.
Jessica decided to sit at Olivia's desk and play Candy Crush on her I-Pad Mini.
An hour later Bayard walked in, "Hey Jessica," Bayard said catching her attention from her game.
"Hey dad," Jessica said walking over to him.
"How was shopping?" Bayard asked
"Great, you're going to love the outfits Livia bought today." Jessica said excited.
"Good, speaking of Olivia is she still working?" Bayard asked as he looked at his watch.
"Nope just finish an interrogation with a confession." Olivia said walking up to Bayard with a smile on her face.
"Good because we have a flight to catch in the morning." Bayard said glad Olivia wouldn't be working all night.
"Sorry but we've been looking for this guy for weeks now." Olivia said she turned to Nick, "Well I'll see you in a week Nick." Olivia said grabbing her purse from her desk.
"See you in a week Olivia, have fun." Nick said watching them leave. He sat at his desk finishing up some paperwork.
Olivia, Bayard and Jessica walked out of the precinct, "We'll see you at home, Jessica and I have a stop to make before heading home." Olivia said
"Ok, see you guy's later." Bayard said giving Olivia a kiss before getting into his car driving off.
"So where are we going?" Jessica asked getting in the car.
"Going to get our nails done, I need them done before the trip they look horrible." Olivia said looking at her nails.
Jessica got excited, she loved going to the salon and spa with Olivia.
After getting their nails done they headed home. When they got home they could smell food cooking. They set their bags down and walked into the kitchen.
Bayard looked up at them, "Hey, didn't hear you guys come in." Bayard said smiling turning back to the stove.
Olivia walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist, "What you're making?"
"Thought we could have some home cook Chinese food today, made some egg rolls, vegetable fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken." Bayard said then laughing when he heard Olivia moan. "I'll take that as you like the idea." Bayard said turning in Olivia's arms so he was facing her giving her a kiss on the lips. "Hey Jess what time are Lisa's parents picking you up?"
Jessica looked up from her phone, "Lisa just texted me, her and her mom on their way now. I'm going to go grab my bags right quick." Jessica said stealing an egg roll as she headed towards her room.
Lisa and her mother showed up ten minutes later. Jessica said good bye to her dad and Olivia wishing them a safe and fun trip.
Olivia and Bayard set down at the table to eat their dinner. "Mmmm…Bay this is good I think the egg rolls are better than the Chinese place we go to." Olivia said taking another bite of her egg roll.
"Glad you like it." Bayard said as he was impressed at how good it turned out himself.
Olivia looked up at Bayard she got up and sat down on his lap and started to kiss his neck. She heard him moan, she took her opportunity, "Hey Bay. Where… Are… You… Taking… Me?" She asked between kisses.
"Ok…I'll tell you."
Olivia had a satisfied look on her face, but it soon disappeared.
"…tomorrow." Bayard said even though he was very tempted to tell her. He saw the disappointment in her eyes, "Sweetheart you're going to love the place we're going, trust me. You do trust me?"
Olivia sighed, "I do trust you Bay…I guess I can wait a couple more hours." Olivia said giving him another kiss then she stood up going to her seat to finish her food.
After they finished eating they cleaned off the table and the kitchen. They finished some last minute packing before trying to get some sleep.
Bayard and Olivia woke up at 4:30 in the morning to make their seven o-clock flight. They enjoyed a shower together before getting dress and packing the car. Bayard set the alarm and got in the car pulling off for the airport.
Half an hour later they pulled up at JFK and parked the car. Bayard made sure he got the tickets so that Olivia wouldn't find out where they were going just yet.
They were both glad they arrived early because going through security took forever. When they got through security Olivia headed towards Starbucks while Bayard went to the gate they were at with their carryon bags.
When Olivia got back they just announced that they were starting to board first class, "Just made it, Starbucks was crowded." Olivia said as they started to board the plane since they were in first class.
After everyone was seated and the door shut closed the plane started to move, the pilot's voice filled the plane, "Hello this is your pilot speaking this is flight 3519 departing from NYC arriving at Paris, France will be taking off very shortly.
Bayard looked at Olivia as the shock then excitement crossed her face.
Olivia had an idea that their trip was out of country since she needed her passport but Paris never cross her mind, "Bay…I love you so much." Olivia said giving him a kiss.
Bayard smiled at Olivia, "I love you too hence why we're going to Paris. I know how much you wanted to go to Paris." Bayard said.
The plane soon took off. A flight attendant asked them if they wanted an omelet with fruit, bagel, and cream cheese on the side or cereal with the same sides, both Bayard and Olivia got the omelet.
After eating her breakfast Olivia snuggled into Bayard dozing off to sleep.
Bayard gave Olivia a kiss on the head wrapping his arm around her as he too started to doze off to sleep also.
Eight hours later they landed in Paris. Bayard had a car waiting for them so after they got their bags they got in the car and headed to their hotel.
Olivia held on to Bayard's hand as she looked out the window, not believing that she was actually in Paris right now. They saw the Eiffel Tower and Olivia's eyes lit up. She became even more excited when she saw the hotel they were staying at, the Mercure Paris Centre Tour Eiffel which was less than a half mile away from the Eiffel Tower
They checked in and headed for their room, when they entered their large suite with a balcony where they could see the Eiffel Tower. It was like they could touch it from their balcony.
Olivia couldn't stop smiling, she turned to Bayard, "Bay this is amazing," Olivia said as she gave him a passionate kiss, "I love you Bay, you sure do know how to woo a girl off her feet." Olivia said giving him another passionate kiss. Soon clothes were all over the room leading to the king size bed.
After making passionate love twice they laid in bed for a couple of minutes trying to catch their breath. Olivia snuggled into Bayard's chest. Bayard kissed the top of her head, "What do you think about going to Le Grand Vefour for dinner?" Bayard asked.
"Sounds good to me." Olivia said, even though she didn't want to leave Bayard's embrace.
They reluctantly got out of the bed taking a shower and getting dress. Bayard wore a simple black suit with a red tie; Olivia also wore a simple black dress with black heels. Bayard called for a car to come pick them up.
When they arrived at the restaurant it was still light outside which was a good thing since the restaurant was located in the gorgeous gardens of Palais Royale. They were soon seated at their reserved table. They both got a glass of wine and ordered their food, Olivia and Bayard was glad they knew French because the whole menu was in French.
"Bay this is a beautiful place." Olivia said loving the view of the garden from their table.
"Glad you like." Bayard said taking hold of Olivia's hands.
"So what do you have planned for this week for us?"Olivia asked
"Couple of things, I didn't want to plan to much, tomorrow we can have breakfast a local bistro then tour the Luxembourg Gardens, heard it magnificent year round and afterwards have lunch at the Au Petit Suisse across from the Luxembourg." Bayard said as their food came.
Olivia smiled at Bayard, "Bay that sounds like fun." Olivia said sounding excited.
They ate their food and ordered dessert afterwards. Then they headed back to their hotel. When they got back to the hotel they sat snuggled on balcony of the hotel since it was nice out.
"I can't believe I am finally in Paris." Olivia said as she felt Bayard rubbing his hand up and down her arm. "I've always wanted to come, but never had the time and someone to come with." Olivia looked up at Bayard, "Thanks again for bringing me Bay, and you're right I do love this place." Olivia said giving him a kiss.
"You don't need to thank me sweetheart, like I said before I want to make you happy and I know bringing you here would make you happy. I love you so much." Bayard said holding Olivia tighter loving the feeling of having Olivia in his arms.
Olivia snuggled more into Bayard, "You know what else makes me happy?"
Bayard laughed, "What…eating strawberry ice cream and watching Hope Springs." Bayard said.
Olivia laughed, "Yeah, but what makes me happy the most is being with you like this just spending some alone time enjoying each other. I can't ever remember being so happy with someone." Olivia said
Bayard nodded, "I'm glad I can make you happy because you make me happy also."
They laid there for a little while longer watching the Eiffel Tower and the city light up. That was when you could really see how romantic Paris is. They soon made their way back into the room closing the balcony door then going to bed.
The next day they ate at a little bistro near the hotel then taking a car to the Luxembourg Gardens where they took a tour, Olivia loved the place she took many picture on her I-Pad, she even had someone take a picture of her sitting on Bayard's lap as he sat on the edge of the pond with Luxembourg in the background. When Olivia saw the picture she loved it, she made it as her wallpaper for her I-Pad.
After touring Luxembourg they went to Au Petit Suisse for Lunch that was across from Luxembourg. After eating Lunch they went shopping for souvenirs for themselves, Jessica, and their friends. Afterwards they head towards Pont des Arts to watch the sunset before heading to a nearby restaurant for dinner then going back to the hotel.
The next couple of days Olivia and Bayard did various things in Paris; trying some chocolate at Pierre and Patrick Rogers where Olivia fell in love with chocolate covered marshmallows. They also toured the Jacquemart-Andre Museum. They bought some wine from La Derniere Goutte and trying some pastries at Des Gateaux et du Pain. Olivia wanted to try a macaron, they were told to go to Pierre Herme and Olivia loved it, she even bough some extra for later that night.
On their second to last day Bayard and Olivia did some more sightseeing. After lunch Bayard had them taken back to the hotel, where Bayard told Olivia to wear a nice dress because they were going somewhere special for dinner, but he didn't tell her where. Olivia decided to where the turquoise dress that Jessica picked out for her with the shoes and jewelry.
When Olivia came out of the bathroom fully dress Bayard just stared at her, "Sweetheart you look amazing in that dress." Bayard said walking over to her giving her a kiss, "I love this dress."
"Glad you love it." Olivia said making a mental note to thank Jessica for picking out the dress. "You look pretty handsome yourself." Olivia said seeing Bayard in a new black suit with a black shirt and blue tie. "So where are we going for dinner?" Olivia asked.
"In time sweetheart, trust me." Bayard said giving Olivia a kiss then grabbing the hotel key and they headed out.
When they arrived at their destination Olivia looked out to see a river. Bayard opened the door for Olivia. When she got out she saw a small boat with a captain waiting for them, she turned to Bayard, "Bay…"
"Thought it would be nice to do a Romantic Cruise along the Seine," Bayard said smiling at Olivia as could see tears forming in her eyes.
Olivia smiled at Bayard, "I think I just fell in love with you all over again." Olivia said giving him a kiss.
The Captain walked up to them, "Je suis prêt quand vous etes tous les deux Monsieur et Madame." (Translation: I am ready whenever you two are sir and ma'am.) He said smiling at the couple.
Bayard smiled at the Captain, "Oui, nous sommes prets, je vous remercie." (Translation: Yes, we are ready, thank you.) Bayard replied back in French receiving a nod from the Captain.
"Par ici Monsieur et Madame." (Translation: Right this way sir and ma'am) The Captain said guiding them to the boat.
They got on the boat Bayard glad that the weather was nice for the boat ride that was his main concern when he planned this. The Captain poured them some Champagne and uncovered a delicious dinner. Then the captain took his position at the wheel and started the boat.
Bayard wrapped his arm around Olivia bringing her close to him as they sat comfortable watching the city once again light up as it became dark.
"Bay this is romantic, sailing along the city all lit up at night," Olivia said.
They passed the Notre Dame Cathedral that was all lit up, it look beautiful at night. Bayard turned to Olivia, "Want to visit the Cathedral tomorrow?" Bayard said getting the idea as they slowly passed the church and one of his close friends said they should visit it before they left.
"Bay I think that is a good idea." Olivia said agreeing. Even though she wasn't very religious but she could tell that Bayard was excited about seeing the church.
"Ok we can do that before we have dinner at the Alain Ducasse's restaurant tomorrow night." Bayard said laughing at the excitement on Olivia's face.
"Y-you got reservations at Alain Ducasse's located in the Eiffel Tower." Olivia said in shock.
"Yup, thought we could end our trip having dinner there." Bayard said as he took another sip of champagne.
"You are amazing Bay, the things you do for me, I feel so spoiled." Olivia said
"Sweetheart you deserve it and more." Bayard said. They settle back down enjoying the sights.
They made small talk and made out a couple of times before the boat stopped. Olivia got worried but it soon disappeared when she saw the Eiffel Tower all lit up. "I wish I could see that every night." Olivia said looking at the tower, she took a quick picture of it.
"It is beautiful." Bayard said as he set his champagne down on the small table then turning to Olivia. "Olivia I know I tell you every day but I love you more than I could ever imagine. After my ex left me I thought I'll never fall in love again, but then you came along. You open your heart to me and let me see a side of you that not many people get a chance to see." Bayard said pushing Olivia's hair behind her ear. "Sweetheart I can't see my life without you in it," Bayard added as he kneeled down on one knee making Olivia gasp, "I love you Olivia and I want to make you my wife, will you marry me," Bayard said as he pulled out the black velvet box opening it revealing the 3 carat 'Paris at Night' diamond ring.
Olivia had tears in her eyes, she took a deep breath, "Bay I love you I never thought I could love someone so much, I would love to marry you, so yes." Olivia said as Bayard slid the ring on her finger then kissing her passionately. Olivia didn't realize the Captain taking pictures of the whole thing.
They spent some more time in view of the Eiffel Tower before heading back. They thanked the Captain then got in the car heading towards the hotel where they made love all night.
The next day they spent part of the morning cuddled in bed having breakfast in bed also. They soon went to see the Notre Dame Cathedral then ending the day with another romantic dinner at the Eiffel Tower.
Olivia could not stop looking at the beautiful ring, she thought this day would never come, she was engage. The thought brought a smile to her face.
Bayard watched Olivia looking at the ring, "The name of the ring is actually fitting." Bayard said gaining Olivia's attention, "It's called 'Paris at Night', thought it would be perfect for you."
"Bay it is, it's beautiful," Olivia said thinking how romantic Bayard was. "Bay last night was just perfect."Olivia said looking out the window they were sitting next to that over look the city then facing Bayard again. "I can't wait to be your wife Bay."
"I can't wait to be your husband," Bayard said as their food came.
"I was thinking what do you think about a destination wedding, you know have close family and friends come with us?" Olivia asked
"I like that idea, any ideas where you want to get married?" Bayard said, he loved seeing Olivia get excited about things because there's always a sparkle in her eyes when she got excited.
"Not sure yet," Olivia said, so many places were running through her mind at the moment.
"We'll think of something sweetheart." Bayard said as they started to eat their dinner
They finished their dinner and ate dessert then paid their bill. They decided to walk back to their hotel hand in hand taking their time.
"Do we have to go back home tomorrow, I love it here Bay." Olivia said putting her head on Bayard's shoulder. She was having so much fun she really didn't want to leave.
"Sorry sweetheart we have to go back. But we can come back whenever you want, this can be our little get away spot." Bayard said wrapping his arm around Olivia.
"I like that." Olivia said already getting excited about coming back here.
They arrived back at their hotel; they packed their bags and got in bed making love one last time before leaving Paris.
The morning came to fast for both Olivia and Bayard's liking. They got dress then checking out of their hotel. When they walked out of the hotel Olivia took one last look at the Eiffel Tower. "We'll be back soon," Bayard said putting an arm around her waist. He could tell that Olivia really didn't want to leave.
They arrived at the airport and arrived at their gate just as they were boarding first class. They boarded the plane and got seated. Olivia snuggled into Bayard as the plane started to move getting ready to take off. This was the best week she ever had. She visited Paris, and had a blast, and to top it got engage to the man she love with all her heart, her dream of having the family she always wanted was coming true.
