Chapter 11
That Saturday Olivia was in the kitchen with Jessica cooking, "How is school going Jess?" Olivia asked as she started cooking the chicken for the chicken stir fry.
Jessica set a bowl of chopped broccoli and cauliflower on the counter next to Olivia. "It's…school, homework, study, more homework and more studying. I can't wait for Christmas break." Jessica said going over to the refrigerator grabbing the carrots hearing Olivia laugh. "Hey are you going to be coaching the team this spring?" Jessica asked as she started to chop the carrots.
Olivia nodded, "Should be able to, but it all depends on my work schedule." Olivia said. Olivia was hoping that Cragen would give her the same schedule as he did the last time. She enjoyed coaching the team and hope to do it again.
Jessica was silent for a minute then looked over to Olivia, "Hey Livia… I've been thinking since you're marrying my dad and all if it was ok with you if I called you mom." Jessica has wanted to ask Olivia that for a while now but never knew how.
Olivia turned to face Jessica, "Jess if that's what you want…" Olivia said trailing off.
Jessica nodded, "It is…Mom."
Olivia hugged Jessica, "Then I would be honored. I already see you as my daughter, I love you." Olivia said holding Jessica a little tighter.
"I love you too mom." Jessica said grinning from ear to ear.
Bayard stood at the entrance of the kitchen watching them with a smile on his face. Not only had he found the love of his life but his daughter was able to look up to her as a mother figure in her life. Bayard was happy that Jessica and he had Olivia in their lives.
Olivia looked up to find Bayard looking at them, she gave him a smile, "I think we should finish cooking, Elliot and his family will be here soon." Olivia said turning back around to finish up the chicken stir fry adding the carrots that Jessica chopped for her and other vegetables.
Jessica turned around to see her dad walking in the kitchen, "Hey dad, are you making your egg rolls today?" Jessica asked cleaning off the counter.
"He better be." Olivia said over her shoulder causing Bayard and Jessica to laugh.
"Yeah, about to start them now," He said walking up to Olivia kissing the back of her head, "Smells good sweetheart."
"Thanks," Olivia said giving him a smile.
They got busy finishing cooking before the Stabler's arrived. After setting the table Olivia and Jessica went to change. As Olivia was walking down the stairs the door bell rang.
When Olivia opened the door she was greeted with Eli hugging her leg, "Hey Eli." Olivia said smiling down at the little boy.
"Hi Livia, I missed you so much!" Eli said excited to see Olivia.
Olivia laughed, "I missed you too buddy." Olivia said ruffling his blonde curls. She looked up to the rest of the family, "Hey guy's, come in." Olivia said moving out of the way to let them in now that Eli let go of her leg.
They all walked in, and then Kathy hugged Olivia, "It's good to see you Olivia. How are you?" Kathy said stepping back.
"I'm doing great thanks." Olivia said as she saw Bayard walking up to them. "Hey Bay this is the Stabler Family, Kathy, Maureen, Kathleen, Richard, Elizabeth, and Eli and of course you already met Elliot, guys this is my fiancé Bayard and our daughter Jessica." Olivia said as she saw Jessica coming down the stairs.
Bayard put a hand on Olivia's back, "It's good to meet you all." Bayard said
Kathleen walked up to Olivia and hugged her, "It's good to see you Olivia and congratulations on your engagement." Kathleen said smiling at Olivia.
"Thanks, Kathleen, you guys can come and take a seat at the table the food is ready." Olivia said as Bayard and she guided them to the dining room.
"Olivia everything looks and smells really good." Maureen said sitting down at the table
"Thanks Maureen, but it was a family effort." Olivia said sitting down next to Bayard. She felt something tug on her shirt. She looked down to see Eli standing there smiling at her.
"Livia, can I sit next to you?" Eli asked with a hopeful look on.
Olivia smiled at the little boy, "You sure can." Olivia said seeing his face light up with excitement as she watched him pull himself up on the seat next to her.
They all started to eat enjoying the food, "So Liv when's the wedding?" Kathy asked looking up from her food.
Olivia swallowed her food, "We decided on May 31st of next year. That would give us just over five months to plan it." Olivia said. She and Bayard agreed on a date a couple of days ago.
"Do you guys know what type of wedding you're having?" Lizzie asked.
"We decided on a destination wedding, so we're going to Italy." Bayard said grabbing Olivia's hand. "If you all like you are more than welcome to come. And there's no worry about cost we're paying for everyone's tickets and stay." Bayard said. He had already talked to Olivia about inviting Elliot and his family, making sure it was ok with her.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." Elliot said. He has been looking forward to this day for Olivia for years. The rest of the family agreed with him.
"So how did you two meet and start dating?" Kathy asked, since Elliot never told her how.
Olivia looked at Bayard than back at Kathy, "Well…when we first met I really didn't like him" Olivia said with a little laugh.
"Why what happen?" Dickie asked as he grabbed another egg roll and took a bite out of it.
"Well Bayard is a defense attorney and he won a case that my partner and I were working on. So I wasn't his biggest fan." Olivia explained seeing the shock looks on their faces.
Once the shock passed Kathy looked at Olivia, "How did you two go from not really liking each other to being engage?"
"Actually my dad always liked Olivia; he had a crush on from day one." Jessica said smiling
Olivia laughed as did everyone else, "It just happened over time, he helped me out on some cases and one day when I had a day off I was walking through the park and saw him coaching Jessica's softball team, and as the saying goes the rest is history." Olivia said looking over at Bayard as she remembered that day.
"You play softball?" Lizzie asked looking at Jessica.
Jessica nodded, "Yeah, my dad and mom well Olivia coach my team."
Lizzie turned to Olivia, "I didn't know you play softball."
"She played in high school and in college." Elliot said answering Lizzie.
"She's really good, she help us win the championships. Do you play?" Jessica asked Lizzie
"Yeah, my brother and I play on our college teams." Lizzie said.
Jessica nodded, "Cool, we should play together and maybe I can come watch you guys play one day." Jessica said receiving nods of agreements from Dickie and Lizzie.
After they finished dinner, Olivia cleared the table then brought out two apple pies and vanilla ice cream. Elliot looked up at Olivia, "You really have changed Olivia, you cook and now you bake. I never thought I'll see the day."
Olivia laughed, "First I didn't bake, Bayard did and I did cook when we were partners." Olivia said hitting Elliot's arm.
Elliot laughed, "Yeah this is the person who when I saw the refrigerator had nothing in it except some packages of condiments and nothing in the cabinets when you had the flu and your response was, 'They created this thing called delivery'." Elliot said making everyone laugh including Olivia.
"Shut up El." Olivia said as she started to cut the pie.
"So Bayard, how did you survive getting through Liv's two brothers and dad?" Elliot said referring to Fin, Munch, and Cragen.
Bayard laughed,"Um…they all seem to be ok with it. I think the fact that they see her happy helped a lot. It was her partner I had to deal." Bayard said thinking about when Nick found out about Olivia and him.
"Hey rather Olivia was still partners with Elliot or with her new one you had to deal with her partner." Kathy said giving Elliot a look, "This one over here ran off many guys." Kathy said pointing at Elliot.
"Hey I didn't want some jerk taking advantage of Olivia and hurting her." Elliot said trying to explain his actions.
"Really that was what you were doing." Olivia said raising her eyebrow at Elliot.
Elliot looked at Bayard, "You sure you want to marry her she can be a spit fire." Elliot said receiving another hit from Olivia and one from Kathy causing the kids to laugh.
"I am more than sure, I love her even her feisty side." Bayard said smiling lovingly at Olivia, who returned his smile.
Lizzie, Dickie and Jessica headed to the basement to play baseball on the Wii-U. Maureen and Kathleen followed a few minutes later along with Eli to watch them play.
"Hey Bayard Fin, Munch, Cragen and I are getting together tomorrow for drinks want to join?" Elliot asked.
"Sure, I don't have anything to do tomorrow." Bayard said taking a bite of his apple pie with ice cream.
Olivia was glad that Bayard was being accepted by her friends. Olivia then had an idea she walked over to Bayard and whispered something to him, he gave her a nod. "Hey Kathy, Elliot do you guys mind if Eli is the ring bearer in our wedding and if you two would be in the wedding also?" Olivia asked sitting back down in her seat.
Kathy nodded, "Liv we would love to and I'm sure Eli would be excited to be the ring bearer." Kathy said
They talked some more before heading towards the basement where the kids were to watch them play. Before long they join in the game also. Olivia beat Elliot at the game and she rubbed it in his face to. After they all played a little they put in Despicable Me 2.
Soon it was time for the Stabler's to leave. Bayard and Olivia walked them out. Olivia almost forgot to let Eli know about him being in the wedding. She binds down to be at eye level with Eli, "Hey Eli how would you like to be the ring bearer at Bayard's and my wedding?" Olivia asked watching the little boy smile from ear to ear.
Eli nodded letting his curls bounce, "I would really like that Livia." Eli said hugging Olivia.
"Good, I'll see you later ok." Olivia said standing back up. She gave everyone a goodbye hug and watched them drive off. She turned to Bayard who wrapped his arms around her, "I'm glad we had them over." Olivia said as she wrapped her arms around Bayard's waist.
Bayard kissed the top of her head, "Me too sweetheart, I think everyone had fun tonight." Bayard said as he pulled back to turn on the alarm then turn the lights off downstairs. He guided Olivia upstairs to say goodnight to Jessica then headed to their room where they got ready for bed. They cuddled in bed talking about their wedding before falling asleep.
