Walking out of the door, the only thing they found was a normal road going up to a door ahead. The road appeared to resemble a bridge, with at least one gap. There was a Darkling and Subspace Guy, but overall, there wasn't anything too interesting about this area.
"Man... That battle seriously wore me out." Chopper sighed. "I never thought Decoya would do some serious damage to us. Good thing she's out of the way, though."
"She got what was coming anyway," Berry asked, inching over to Chopper. "As for healing those wounds, maybe I can help you!"
"Uhhhh... Maybe we can save that kind of thing for later." Sonic suggested. "We don't want to be wasting a lot of FP just yet."
"Fine..." Berry frowned, following the group over to the bridge. With Scrub's help, Chopper had managed to get to the other side of the bridge and reach the door. The Darkling tried stopping them, but Chopper easily did away with it with a light ball. Entering the door, they were led into an area with a staircase.
"Well... This is boring." Tamber remarked. "Just stairs."
Suddenly they heard the voice of two Darksprines. Coincidentally, they happened to be on those stairs.
"So we were ordered to patrol these parts, is that correct?" the first Darksprine asked.
"Yeah. Of course we are! That's why we're here!" the second Darksprine replied, giving its friend a strange look. "Look, we're not going to let that Chopper make it to the core. He's getting closer to that garden by the second! And if he gets there, then we're going to have some problems..."
"A garden? That sounds interesting..." Chopper whispered. Unfortunately, his whispering was not soft enough for the Darksprines to hear, as they had already spotted them. Gulping, he ducked to avoid their shots. "Crud... I wasn't soft enough."
"Do not let them make it to the garden!" both Darksprines roared. Chopper was lucky enough to rush over to them and give them a taste of their own medicine by slamming his hammer on them. Vivian's Fiery Jinx was tough enough to get rid of them once and for all by making their jetpacks malfunction and send them crashing onto the stairs, exploding.
"Whew… That was a close one." Chopper sighed in relief. "For a second I thought we weren't going to pull that off! But, I'm glad we were able to…"
They made their way up the stairs to a glowing yellow platform. As usual, it made a couple of other floating platforms that led all the way to another purple glowing floor. However, the problem was that the first platform was too far to reach.
"This doesn't look too safe…" Vivian trailed.
"Yeah, and I don't think I can even make those jumps," Chopper agreed. "It's a bit far for me. I don't even think Scrub can get me across that first platform. The others? Maybe. But these ones I sure can't…"
"I can get through this easily! Just watch!" Tamber grinned, gliding over to the purple floor ahead. "I gotta remember what Flyer had said to me earlier..."
"Are you all right, Tamber?" Chopper asked.
"Who, me?" Tamber turned around, giving him a grin. "I'm always fine, Gumball! That's how I roll!"
"Ummmmm… OK." Chopper turned back to his friends. "All right, now we need to get across this."
"And I can help with that," Berry declared, taking her hammer out.
"All right... Don't try to hurt me, though..." Chopper trailed, turning around when on the platform. She managed to whack Chopper over to the other platform that was too far to reach. Scrub gaped, but he turned to Berry anyway.
"Yo, Berry! Think you can send me over there?" Scrub asked.
"Sure thing," Berry brought her hammer back and swung Scrub over to Chopper.
"Now… How are WE going to get across there? That's the question…" Sonic scratched the back of his ear, while he watched Chopper get on Scrub's back to flutter across the platforms and over to Tamber.
"We do what we usual do," Flyer started by grabbing Berry's arm. "I fly some people across, and those that can also fly help the others out."
With that, the usual procedure happened, and it didn't take long for them to get across. Once they were all together, they entered the door into an area with many, shiny mirrors.
"Poyo! (Hey, cool mirrors!)" Kirby skipped over to one of the mirrors on the background to take a look at himself. "Poyo! (Hey, look at you! You look cool, right?"
"Let me try!" Chopper took a look at himself through one of the mirrors. He began to wave to himself, with the mirror responding in the same manner. He had turned away from the mirror, only for a new face to appear. The others had noticed and pointed behind Chopper. He looked back, but saw no other image but himself, so he eventually turned back, not believing them.
Well, until a cackle echoed through the room.
"So you all have seen Fawful's mirrors?" Fawful cackled, his face appearing on all of the mirrors. "Nyeah heh heh heh! Glorious mirrors! They reflect the fury that I am having!"
"Fawful?!" Chopper gawked, turning to see his face. "Oh, great... If you're here to fight, then you might as well come out!"
"My appearance stays invisible like a chameleon turning invisible in a salty pond filled with curry!"
"Poyo… (Mmmmmmm… Curry…)" Kirby moaned, licking his lips.
"Well, if you don't show yourself right now, I'm gonna have to find you through one of these mirrors!" Chopper threatened, punching one of them, resulting in a crack. But that was it. "Dang it... He wasn't in this one. I better try another. ...Wait, don't I get bad luck from breaking these?"
"I believe that's all just a myth," Flyer mused.
"Are you sure?"
"Errr... Maybe it's best if we focus on Fawful at the moment." Shadower suggested.
"Yeah. I guess so." When Chopper turned back to the mirrors, he saw a Darksprine Trooper's helmet instead.
"Ah, Chopper! So you're here!" a Darksprine ended up breaking through one of the mirrors, firing at them with its assault rifle.
"Well that's some bad luck right there!" Tamber shouted. The Darksprine started to fire at Tamber in response. Tamber, on the other hand, tried to glide up to it, but because of how high he was, he couldn't reach the enemy. "Gah! I can't reach him! Curse me and not being able to jump high!"
"Surely this will hit him," Chopper tossed a light ball at the Darksprine Trooper, stunning it at the moment. He quickly stomped on it and tossed an electric ball at its jetpack.
"Uh oh…" the Darksprine began to fly all over the place from his malfunctioned jetpack. Just like the other, ended up exploding when it crashed into the wall.
"That takes care of that guy," Sonic sighed in relief, running over to the door. "Come on, guys… Let's get out of this room."
Everyone agreed, and they walked into a circular room with two Darklings floating around. There was also a yellow ? Block as well, so Chopper hit the block to get a Max Juice. He made another comment on how there were so many of these before putting it away. After they defeated the Darklings, they entered the door ahead leading to something on the wall near the door.
"What's that up there on the wall?" Chopper wondered.
"It looks like some sort of puzzle…" Vivian saw that there were some dark torches in the background in some sort of strange pattern. "Maybe we'll find out through the door ahead.
Chopper nodded and walked into the next room, which had a staircase going up and one going down. There were four doors: one that they came out of, one to the upper left, one to the right across from them, and one to the upper right.
"Oh, this is simple! We just have to go into the right door! That's not a problem!" Chopper smiled. "It's just like in the Palace of Shadow!"
Kirby looked over at the torches. They were all in dark flames. "Poyo… (I don't know, Chopper… They're all lit up, you know…)"
Chopper started by walking up the stairs to the top staircase. However, when he entered through the upper right door, he ended up coming out of the previous area. Realizing what happened, he went back to the area ahead to look at the torches.
"Wait... This is just like that puzzle in Bowser's Castle!" Chopper realized. "I just need to remember them!"
Chopper walked back into the other room where everyone was waiting and began to explain what had happened. They nodded in response, and they let Chopper lead the way. He entered the door that was ahead, and that had led them to a similar area.
"What kind of puzzle is this supposed to be?" Sonic asked.
"One that was used in a previous story and in Chapter 8," Chopper answered, taking the path up ahead again, leading into another similar area. They then walked up to the upper right, and that led them into another familiar area. "OK… Down again."
After they had entered the door to the lower right, they then went to the upper right, then the lower right, with them going to the upper right twice. When they reached the final room, Chopper had approached the lower right door.
"Geez... That was really annoying..." Flyer sighed. "Repetitive puzzles are not fun."
"Yeah, I know... Now let's see what we'll find through here." Chopper turned the doorknob, and when he opened it, he was astonished when he found out that they were led into a beautiful garden with black grass scattered across the floor. They stepped into the garden, hearing the peaceful sound of running water, and some even took a look at the flowers.
"This place is so beautiful..." Vivian commented, looking down at a black flower.
"How could a place so dark and evil have a place like this?" Berry questioned, also taking in the beauty.
"I don't believe this. Is this all just a dream?" Flyer rubbed his eyes a couple of times. "No… I'm not imagining this. Out of all the places we've been through here, this has to be the strangest."
"This place is way past cool, man," Sonic grinned. He looked up, but he still noticed the dark sky. "Well, the sky certainly hasn't changed. Though, I wonder why there's even a place like this around."
"Same here," Chopper agreed, taking a couple of steps on the dark ground. While it didn't have a glowing trail, there was a hint of blue on the ground here. Looking around the large garden, they had spotted a large tower in the background with a big, black door.
"Where is everyone?" Berry asked, seeing no sign of enemies. "I don't see any enemies around here. It feels pretty lonely..."
Chopper walked over to the calm waters and looked down at it. It didn't look harmful. In fact, it looked pretty clear. Looking up, he saw that there was a bridge leading over to the tower in the center of the room.
"Uhhh... How do we get to that tower?" Chopper wondered.
"I see a red button over there," Flyer mentioned, pointing to the red button on the wall over by the small door ahead. It appeared to be locked. "What do you think is in that door?"
"I don't know, but it looks like trouble. I learned that in the Palace of Shadow."
"Hey, Contadre! I found something!" Scrub called out, standing by a red ! Switch. He gave it a kick, but nothing happened. "Maybe there's another switch around here!"
Chopper tried to get a better look around the area for another switch. Coincidentally, there was one over by the other side of the garden. "I can see a similar switch over there!"
"If it requires them to be hit at the same time, then let me give you a hand!" Sonic suggested with a smirk.
Chopper and Sonic went over to the switch Scrub was by, with Sonic going into a ball and staying in place after Chopper kicked him. Chopper, meanwhile, crossed the two bridges and went over to the other red ! Switch. When he gave Sonic the thumbs up, both had struck the switches. This had made a barrel fall over by Chopper.
He had gestured everyone to come over to him, and they too had spotted the barrel. A light bulb had suddenly struck Mario's head at that point.
Mario: Leave this to me!
Mario brought his hammer down on Chopper so that he was underground. He jumped inside of the barrel from underneath, and then he made his way over to the red button on the wall.
"OK, Mario… Go for it!" Chopper shouted, giving him the cue.
Mario nodded, and he leaped on top of the barrel. With one whack from his hammer, the switch was struck and the ground began to shake. A bridge had been formed over by the tower.
"Ah, yes! Now we can go in that tower!" Tamber fist pumped.
"Wait, hold up," Bombette intervened, taking note of a platform over by the wall. "I think I see a pipe over there?"
"You do?" Chopper noticed the shadow nearby, and when he looked up, he saw a platform with a black pipe. Since the section of the wall it was near was jumpable, he used his Wall Jump to get onto the pipe and go into the background. This had surprisingly led him behind the tower into a small room with a single chest. Along with that, there was a Heart Block. He found a Badge called the Darkness Badge, which would increase Chopper's Attack power by ten, but at the cost of KOing him in three turns. Not something he wanted. He hit the Heart Block afterward, and he returned to his friends explaining what he had found.
"OK, so you got a badge and found a Heart Block," Scrub said. "Now let's go into that tower."
"Yeah, we should," Shadower agreed. "Although, I find it strange that we're going in the tower first and not through that door. It was the other way around when we were in the Palace of Shadow."
"Let's not even bring up that place," Chopper suggested. "I'm getting sick of it."
Everyone nodded in agreement, no longer wanting to hear of that place either. They approached the tower and noticed that the plaque on the door was labeled, "Dark Subspace Tower".
"A rather predictable name, I suppose," Flyer commented.
When they entered the tower, however, they were left in surprise. The tower's interior appeared to be dark purple with dark stars all over the place. To them, it resembled space, but a dark version of it.
"Nyeah heh heh heh heh! I HAVE FURY!"
"So Fawful's here!" Chopper gaped, his antennae springing up in surprise. "I should've known that he would be around here! …Thank goodness he is, though. At least we're not alone in this place."
"Yeah, I can agree," Berry nodded nodded.
There was a spiral staircase in the center of the room. Scrub was about to make a comment on that, but from the gesture Shadower gave him, he decided to stop there. Nevertheless, they made their way up the stairs and reached the third floor, which was also massive. There, they found a large pedestal with a dark sphere being stored in a glass capsule. Fawful happened to be standing before it.
"Wait… What the heck is that thing?" Chopper asked.
"I have happiness!" Fawful cackled. "Now that Fawful has found the darkness of what can complete the granting of dark power, Fawful can finally chisel the glass like a competitive moose!"
"Dark power?! Uh oh... You're not doing that!" Chopper rushed at Fawful, but he saw it coming and fired a projectile from his Vacuum Helmet, knocking him back.
"So you, Green Antennae, think you're having the stopping of Fawful? I have shock at you for making it here! Fawful hates you!"
"Yeah, I know you hate me and all, but you're not going to be doing anything bad," Chopper slowly rose up, but he saw Fawful freeze the glass capsule with his blaster. He then broke it with his foot afterward.
"Why is Fawful suddenly having beef? I have surprise! Fawful is meant to be beefless!" Fawful didn't care too much, so he took out a dark crystal and threw it into the dark sphere.
"Wait, what was that?" Chopper gawked.
"It is the crystal of darkness I had finding!" Fawful explained. "Up in the mountain of shivering, Fawful had discovering of the dark crystal! So much power has dwelling in it, that Fawful wants even more darkness with the adding of this dark sphere!"
"Dark crystal? Wait a minute... That sounds familiar..."
"What's up, Chopper?" Shadower asked.
"Remember when we fought Wintrino? I was told he got possessed by some dark crystal. The one Fawful has looks pretty familiar. ...And from what I remember, that crystal has even more dark power in it."
"Wait... You mean..." Vivian turned around and spotted Fawful using his Vacuum Helmet to absorb the dark sphere's power with the dark crystal combined. "Uh oh..."
"I…have…DARKNESS!" Fawful cackled, dark energy suddenly engulfing him as his outfit began to change. He completely turned black for a moment, while his cloak had started to appear more jagged, and his spiral glasses had changed to red. When the black smoke had faded away, his red cloak changed to a dark blue, and his shirt had a black star on it.
"This isn't good..." Flyer gulped.
"Nyeah heh heh heh! Finally! I have gained more fury! Now Fawful is stronger than ever!" Dark Fawful hovered up with his Vacuum Helmet and grinned down at Chopper and his friends. "Now I am Dark Fawful!"
"What was the point of that dark power anyway?" Flyer asked. "It's not like you needed it for anything."
"Oh, but I do! Fawful has been wanting to avenge my master after she had the going away because of you, Green Antennae!" Dark Fawful explained, shaking a fist at Chopper. "You, fink-rat, shall have paying!"
"Hmmmmmm… You know, looking at you, you look somewhat familiar..." Chopper trailed. "But I don't even know who your master is anyway!"
"Cackletta was Fawful's master! I had shock when she was destroyed by you!"
"But I didn't do anything to that person!"
"I have ignorance!" Dark Fawful declared. "You are starting to underestimate Fawful's power, who has the suction machine for draining that dark power! Fawful may not have gotten unlimited power, but I am thinking it is enough to destroy you, fink-rat!"
"Well, then this should be a bit easy," Chopper began to stretch.
"You have gotten in Fawful's way in each of the turns… Just like the red mustache here that I hate… Fawful hates all of your faces…" Dark Fawful babbled.
Mario: OK...
"But… Now…" Dark Fawful turned to Chopper and his friends. "Fawful shall say farewell to all of your fink-rat faces forever! Chopper and Co.! Fawful's fury shall strike you down!"
Tattle: That's Dark Fawful. He's just Fawful, but with all of that dark energy absorbed into him. Even when he's got all of that power, he STILL looks like a total nutjob! Max HP is 510, Attack is 21, and Defense is 3. Just like before, he'll keep using that blaster to strike you, but now he might even summon some dark portals to throw dark orbs of energy at you. Yikes! He can also shoot small orbs of dark energy at you if he wants. I'm guessing with that dark power absorbed into him, he's become a lot stronger. Great...
"Time for us to show you how much tougher we've got!" Chopper started off by rushing at Dark Fawful and bringing his hammer down on him. Flyer took 10 out of the crazy bean with his Flying Attack.
"Now Fawful will have style as you will be struck like crying bowling pins!" Dark Fawful declared, his Vacuum Helmet attaching itself to the chandelier up on the ceiling, and he began to swing himself toward Chopper. He managed to guard the attack, but Dark Fawful spun around and hit him from behind, knocking him forward.
"Whoa… I didn't see that coming…" Chopper quickly shook his head and charged up a light ball to shoot at Dark Fawful.
"Ach! The light! It has the brightness!" Dark Fawful screamed as Flyer struck him with another Flying Attack.
Dark Fawful grinned as he was surrounded by a purple aura. He summoned four dark portals. One was in front of Chopper, and one was above him, and the two others were right next to Dark Fawful when he hovered over him.
He tossed a dark purple orb of energy down at Chopper, which was able to be guarded. Dark Fawful sent one to the right for Chopper to counter with a light ball, but he was soon hit by a dark orb that was sent above him.
"Nyeah heh heh heh! Fawful has good feelings!" Dark Fawful cackled as he hovered down. He was left open for Chopper to use a Wall Jump on him. Flyer attacked another Flying Attack, and Dark Fawful's HP was down to 446.
As much as Chopper wanted to be satisfied, he wasn't. Dark Fawful pulled his blaster out, and he fired purple stars that circled around. He jumped out of the way and watched as they hit Chopper.
"Ack! What kind of attack IS this?!" exclaimed Chopper.
Dark Fawful could only cackle at him as he stepped back in. He was unfortunate to get hit by Chopper's Rainbow Spin and Mario's hammer, but he didn't make too much of a big deal out of it. He let his Vacuum Helmet do the job of firing a dark projectile at him. Luckily, Chopper was able to guard the attack in the end.
"Oh… That wasn't too bad." Chopper remarked, quickly striking Dark Fawful with a Power Bounce, managing to take 15 out of him. Scrub laid a giant egg and threw at him afterward.
"So you think you have more fury than Fawful?" Dark Fawful pulled his dark laser sword out. "I will have the spanking!"
"Wait, what?" Chopper gawked before he was hit by Dark Fawful's dark laser sword. When he was left off guard, Chopper managed to hit him with a Wall Jump. "Quick! Someone make a move!"
Vivian took action by punching Dark Fawful with her Shade Fist, leaving a nasty burn on him and bringing him to 378 HP.
Dark Fawful spread his arms out as his Vacuum Helmet attached itself to the chandelier again. He came charging at Chopper, successfully hitting him as his Vacuum Helmet latched off from the ceiling. To take action, Shadower had lowered his defense with a Shadow Punch, and then Chopper dealt some serious damage with his Gravity Jump.
"Ahhh… Now THAT felt nice." Chopper smirked as he bounced off Dark Fawful. He managed to bring his hammer out to guard the bean's dark laser sword afterward. Then he used a Spring Jump to take 20 out of him, with Tamber following up with a Power Punch. It left Dark Fawful with only 305 HP.
Dark Fawful began to speak about having fury and all that before he fired a couple of purple stars from his blaster. They circled around and fell on everyone, but they managed to Superguard it.
"All right, now let's get to business!" Chopper smirked as he pulled his hammer out struck Dark Fawful with his Hammer Throw. With Flyer's Flying Attack, he was down to 284 HP.
Dark Fawful created more dark portals for him to toss dark orbs of energy down to hit Chopper, but he managed to Supeguard each of them with ease. After that, Chopper took out his hammer and struck him with a Power Smash. Berry had also hit him with her hammer as well, dealing 7 damage instead.
"Urk… Fawful won't have the giving up just yet…" Dark Fawful coughed, swinging at Chopper with his dark laser sword. Chopper fought back by using his Star Blast, taking 12 out of him.
"Poyo! (Better make my move!)" Kirby declared, pulling his Final Cutter out and he used it to hit Dark Fawful, doing another 12 as well.
After Dark Fawful's dark orbs he threw at Chopper, he used his Planet Tide attack to tilt the ground, sending Dark Fawful all over the place. He was able to take 54 HP out of him with it.
"It was nice to use that attack again," Chopper smiled.
"It's not a bad idea to use powerful attacks," Bombette mentioned, approaching Dark Fawful and exploding in front of him with a Bomb attack.
Dark Fawful then let out a cry as he raised his arm, and dark orbs of energy began to surround him. He sent the dark orbs at everyone, taking 21 out of them.
"Now I am having evil!" Dark Fawful cackled.
"All right, that's it!" Sonic curled up in a ball and struck Dark Fawful with a Spin Dash. "This guy is seriously bothering me!"
"He's bothering everyone, Sonic," Chopper agreed, throwing his hammer at Dark Fawful, who quickly head butted Chopper afterward. "And he's CERTAINLY bother me! Come on, Fawful…"
"Fawful told you you would be meeting his fury!" Dark Fawful grinned before getting hit by Chopper's Gravity Jump. He was brought down to 130 HP after Scrub had thrown another Mega Egg.
"We almost got this annoying guy!" Scrub cheered.
"Yeah... But he's not going to give up so easily." Chopper said, looking back at Dark Fawful, ready for anything he was going to throw at him.
"Nyeah heh heh heh!" Dark Fawful jumped out of the way after shooting a circle of purple stars. Chopper was able to Superguard them, making Dark Fawful look a bit sad (while maintaining his weird smile).
"No? But… How?" Dark Fawful jumped back into the fight, quickly getting hit by a Hammer Throw and a Flying Attack. Then he managed to tackle Chopper and hit him with his dark laser sword.
Chopper managed to kick him off of him before striking him with a Master Glove attack. Soon afterward, Mario had thrown in his Super Jump to deal 9 damage.
"OK, we should be able to breeze through this if I can get a Gravity Jump in or something…" Chopper trailed.
Dark Fawful grinned as he floated above them, summoning his dark portals again. "Taste my fury, fink-rats!"
He fired a dark orb of energy down the portal to his right, sending one in front of Mario. Once he stopped his attack, Shadower hit him with a Shadow Punch, and with his defense at 0, Chopper used his Gravity Jump. Dark Fawful shot at Shadower in response, and Sonic had decided to use his Sonic Speed to grant Chopper an extra turn. That was when Chopper struck him with two jumps, reducing Dark Fawful to 28 HP.
This was where Dark Fawful started to feel exhausted. One of his glasses was cracked, and his cloak was dirty. Regardless of that, he let out one last cry before raising his arm and firing dark orbs at Chopper and his friends.
"When will this guy ever learn?!" Flyer exclaimed.
"There's not much we can do about it… We just have to fight." Chopper brought his hammer down on Dark Fawful's head, which was then followed up with Vivian's Shade Fist. With that burn effect, they only had to deal 13 more damage. In response, Dark Fawful had fired more dark orbs at them, but at this point, it wasn't going to help him here.
"All right, let's finish this!" Chopper declared, conjuring up a light ball and hurling it at Dark Fawful. Flyer put an end to the dark bean with a single Flying Attack.
"I have...fallen..." Dark Fawful groaned, falling to his knees in defeat as Flyer landed on the ground.
"Whew! Finally! That takes care of him!" Flyer sighed.
When they brought their attention to Dark Fawful, they noticed him panting heavily and looking down at the ground in pain. They saw no point in staying in this room any long and decided to turn away.
"NOOAAAARGH!" Dark Fawful yelled, bringing everyone's attention back to him again. All of the dark energy within him had drained away, restoring his glasses and cloak back to his normal color. "I have…fury…"
With those last words, he fell over unconscious.
"Looks like that's it for Fawful…" Chopper trailed, attempting to poke him with his foot. When he looked at the others, they shook their heads. "Awww..."
"Well, we have other things to do right now," Flyer noted. "More important things..."
"Yeah, you're right. Let's just get out of here. There's not much we can do." Chopper made his way down the spiral steps and out of the tower, with his friends following behind. Many of them were glad to be leaving this freaky tower.
Well, considering that Fawful had been taken into this world, they were bound to run into him.
The next chapter might be a lot shorter, just to give you a heads up. In fact, a lot of these chapters in Dark Subspace World won't be too long, if that's what you're interested in (with a few exceptions, of course).
