Normal POV:
Mikey was pacing through the lair. You could feel the restlessness by just looking at him. Shoulders all tense, back slightly curved and of course the nervous look on his face. Raph was browsing through his comic book, hoping to find a page that was distracting enough.
Too bad he couldn't find it.
Instead of finding distraction, his gaze was focused on the troubled turtle with the orange bandanna.
'Mikey will you just sit down now? You're making me nervous.'
He directly stopped pacing around and turned to Raph.
'You think I can just stop being worried? Newsflash: SOME of us DO care about Donnie!'
Raph watched with astonishment to his normally happy brother, who was looking angrier than ever. Quickly he recovered and put on his 'I-still-don't-care' face.
'Ah so now you can get angry? You should try using the anger in battle. Maybe you could actually beat me once.'
He snickered and continued reading. Mikey held his breath, his eye slightly twitching. How could he be so insensitive?
'Never mind. I'll be in the kitchen making….' He looked at the clock next to the entrance of the lair. It said 6 pm.
'Ah, I'll make some waffles! Donnie loves those...'
And he ran to the kitchen.
April sat behind her desk. She was watching YouTube. She loved to watch clips from the web, mostly the hilarious ones like from SMOSH, and TOBUSCUS. Right now she was watching a SMOSH FoodBattle. Anthony and Ian are so silly, but it was so hilarious!
But even the hilarious YouTube-duo couldn't lighten April's mood. She thought about the turtles more then she imagined she would. They are a big part of her life, now she thinks about it.
She was still mad at them of course. But somewhere she felt miserable for them. They had no one beside each other and their friend. Now she abandoned them, it must've hit them hard.
Should she call them?
April shook her head. No, she was still too pissed off. Being friendly to the turtles was probably not going to happen so it was the best to just let it go for now.
Still a horrible feeling harassed her, but she couldn't put a finger on what caused it. It was getting late anyway. She should better head for bed. A night of sleep would do some good.
In the meantime, Leo was in the dojo with Master Splinter. Splinter told his sons that he did not want to be disturbed. However, he asked Leonardo to join him. They sat in lotus-position, both facing the large tree in the middle of the training room. After Splinter suggested Leo to sit down to meditate. Leo agreed of course. Still, he didn't know where this was about.
After half an hour of sitting next to each other in utter silence, he couldn't resist to break it and ask the burning question.
'Sensei, do you think everything wi-'
'Yes my son.'
Leo was taken aback by sensei's quick answer. Was he that predictable? Or was his worry too obvious to miss?
Splinter stood up.
'I am aware of the seriousness of the situation. However, doubt is not the solution to this problem.'
He walked to the weapon stance. From the left to the right, there were standing various staffs; a Yari, Hanbo, Nagamaki and on the far right a Naginata similar to Donatello's.
Splinter laid his hand on the Naginata and sighed.
'We have to help Donatello to find his way back to us in his own time. But remember my son: He himself has to take the biggest steps in this process.'
Master Splinter turned back to Leo.
'Do not lose hope and never let hope lose you.'
Leo nodded, but wasn't sure if he understood what Splinter meant with that wisdom. Leo bowed and walked to the living room. He saw that Mikey was gone, and Raph was punishing the training dummy. AGAIN.
He heard a loud 'KLANG' coming from the kitchen, and suspected that Mikey was probably cooking.
Mikey had the intention to exaggerate with preparing food when he was distressed. Last time Leo sprained his ankle during training and Mikey made pancakes, apple pie, 25 cupcakes with smileys, a fruit bowl and a huge bowl filled with the purest chocolate ice cream. It tasted delicious, but they had to throw away most of it reluctantly. Since then Splinter insisted that they had limited access to various ingredient. Of course, this new rule was mostly directed to Mikey…
Leo went to the couch and sat down. He put on a new episode of Super Robo Mecha Force Five. Raph noticed it and felt like watching it too. He grabbed a towel to wipe off the sweat and joined Leo.
'Hey.' Was all Leo said, his eyes never leaving the tv screen. He didn't show any kind of emotion.
'Hey Fearless.' Raph responded. He saw Leo flinch, but just lightly. No reaction? That's no fun! Maybe he had to push Leo a bit.
'What's wrong boss?' Raph grinned.
Leo's gaze slowly drifted to his brother. His neutral expression changed to an angry one.
'What's wrong? You dare to ask me what's wrong? Well, you are! I want to know what's wrong with YOU!'
Raph just watched his brother's outburst like it was all too common. This pissed Leo off even more.
'What is your problem? You are treating Donnie like sh-… like dirt!' Leo corrected himself. Being mad is okay, but your vocabulary must not get dirty.
Raph kept up a tough look, but was shocked on the inside. What did Leo mean with that? That is not true right?
'Well it is! Why are you doing this to him?' Leo said.
Apparently Raph had asked his last question out loud. He realized that Leo was right; he HAD been mean to Donnie. He had his reasons. But did Leo have to know?
'So? What is your motive?'
Raph grumbled and after a minute he sighed. Maybe Leo had to know.
Pain shot through Donnie's head. A throbbing feeling afflicted him. Carefully he sat up, his gaze drifting across the dark room he was in. Where was he?
Suddenly he remembered; He was in his home called 'the lair' by his brothers.
He swung his legs over the edge of the bed. The 'lab' was pretty big! A bit cheerless, but it looked more like it had a practical function so it didn't have to look very inviting. He tried to push himself off the bed to stand, but the pain that came from his arm refused to let him. He saw the white sling his arm hung in. Oh yeah, it is broken. That sucks.
The next question that came to his mind was his biggest.
What now?
Just enter the living room like nothing happened? He sighed. Well he couldn't just stay here forever anyway so that it is.
He got up using his good arm and went to the big metal sliding doors that lead to the common area.
Noise was coming from the big room, and Donnie wondered what was going on. Did he hear yelling? Awfully familiar yelling?
He shoved the left door to the left, and went through the opening. The door made a lot of noise so the turtles in the area had heard him coming.
They immediately shut up when Donnie walked into the room.
'Uh…. Hey?'
Leo and Raphael were standing in front of him. So they were bickering.
'Hey Donnie, how're you feeling?' Leo asked.
Donnie looked at Leo. 'Fine I guess… but my arm hurts.'
Leo nodded and glared at Raph.
He stuck his tongue out and went to the television.
An uncomfortable silence was a result. Neither Leo, nor Donnie knew what to say. Luckily Mikey stormed into the room and broke the silence. He ran to Donnie and gave him a bear hug.
'Aah bro you're awake! I was wondering when you would wake up. Are you hungry? I made plenty of de-li-ci-ous food!'
He pushed him to the kitchen, followed by Leo who was getting pulled by Mikey. Raph stayed in the living room, alone with his thoughts. He wasn't really paying attention to the television anymore, so he tried to turn it off. He grabbed the remote and pressed the red button. Nothing was happening. A large vein in his head started throbbing. I said out stupid machine!
He pressed it again, and still no result in turning it off.
This was REALLY getting annoying. In a burst of anger he threw the remote through the room. It came to a halt when it hit the wall. The remote scattered into hundreds of pieces around the place.
Ugh…. Well, he'll ask Donnie to fix it later.
Donnie….
Raph sat down on the couch to cool off. Leonardo had shaken him awake; He had been terrible to his genius brother. All the nicknames, pushing his buttons, offending him, etcetera. Still Donnie never bothered trying to piss HIM off. Always choosing the wisest decision and just letting it go. Like he didn't even mind it! LIKE he didn't even mind it….
I've turned my own sorrow into anger and pointed that to Donnie. He thought while he strolled to his room. The fact that we lost April really did hurt me. I never told the guys cause they would think I am a softy. But reacting like this to Donnie is even worse.
He fell on his bed, facing the ceiling.
He had to make things right again.
Xxxxxxxxxx
OOOOH Raph spoiled why he acted like this! And April? Will she be coming back?
Oh no, even SMOSH and TOBUSCUS had to be part of my story! What will happen next?
Find it out, on the next BLANK SPOOOOOTS!
