It had been a couple of weeks since everyone found out about Quinn's relationship with Sebastian. Quinn was glad that almost everyone seemed to be over the initial shock and were now happy for her. Kurt was still a little concerned about Sebastian, but he knew Quinn was happy and that's all that really mattered to him. Rachel had met Sebastian, officially as Quinn's boyfriend, and she had told Quinn that he did seem alright, though she also voiced her concern like Kurt. The only one that had yet to let things fully drop, was Finn. Quinn had tried getting Finn to get to know Sebastian the few times he came over the house, but he refused.
Sectional's is coming up and Rachel had gotten herself suspended from school and performing. She had wanted to make sure Kurt won the Class President election and stuffed the ballot box with his name. She knew it was wrong, but she wanted to help him. The New Directions were already off two members and with Rachel, it was now three. They had planned to have some of the band members actually join them so they meet the minimum number of people, which is 12. But Finn had a plan and he didn't tell anyone, except Rachel and Mr. Schue, about it.
The New Directions were in the choir room waiting for Mr. Schue to come in so they can start rehearsing. Finn and Mr. Schue walk in together and Mr. Schue has a bottle of sparkiling cider. Everyone looks at him, confused.
"Ok, so I have some great news." Mr. Schue says, smiling.
"Great news? Seeing how I'm pretty sure we're not gonna win Saturday-" Kurt starts.
"Seriously, Mr. Schue, what's with the sparkling cider?" Quinn asks. "I mean, Kurt's right. We're definitely going to totally fail on Saturday."
Just then the last person everyone expected to, walked in the door. "Oh, not if I can help it." Sam Evans walks in, smiling.
Everyone jumps up from their seats and runs to Sam. Mike practically falls over his chair. Quinn remains where she was sitting, in complete shock. She hasn't seen or talked to Sam since the last day of school last year. She was sure she was never going to see him again. She shook the thoughts away and stood up. Sam looked around till he locked eyes with her and smiled. She returned the smile and walked up and hugged him. Finn looked quite pleased with himself and hopped the other part of his plan was working. He hopes with Sam being back, Quinn will realize that Sebastian is all wrong for her. Everyone celebrates Sam's return and all agree they now have a much better chance at Sectional's.
Quinn had seen Finn's reaction to her interaction with Sam and knew he brought Sam back for another reason other than helping with Sectional's. Sebastian had come over Quinn's after school and they were sitting in the living room, watching TV. She was trying to find the right time to bring up Sam to Sebastian. She had told him about Sam and how much she loved him. She was worried about his reaction. She kept glancing over at him every few seconds, which he noticed.
"Ok, what's going on?" He asked.
"N-Nothing."
"Are you sure? You keep staring at me?"
"It's nothing. Really."
"Is this about what I said a couple of weeks ago?"
"No." She turned to the TV again. She saw Sebastian shrug and face the TV as well. She heard the front door open and shot up from the couch when she heard Finn and Sam's voices. Sebastian looked up at her confused.
Finn and Sam enter the living room and Sam speaks up. "Oh, there you are. You left school pretty quickly."
Sebastian glanced at Quinn. Quinn faked a smile. "Yeah, sorry. Sebastian had texted me saying he was almost here, so." She shrugged. "Is that why you came here, to come find me?"
Sam chuckled. "No, actually." He looked down at his bags. Quinn followed his eyes.
"O-Oh. You're staying here?"
"Yeah, that was the deal with my parents. I could come back to McKinley if I had a friend to stay with. Finn said you're dad said it was cool for me to stay here."
"Oh. Well funny neither of them mentioned it." She glared in Finn's direction.
"Funny." Finn said, smiling. "Come on, Sam. I'll show you to the guest room."
Sebastian looked at Quinn, then to Sam. He got up and walked over to Quinn. "So, Sam's back, huh?"
Quinn shut her eyes and sighed. "I was going to tell you."
"Yeah? When?"
"I was waiting for the right time." She turns to face him.
"So I guess hearing that he's moving in with you was the, uh, right time?"
"Are you honestly mad right now?"
"Maybe."
"Why?"
"Oh, I don't know. Just the fact that your ex-boyfriend is going to be living with you."
"It's not like it was my choice. I didn't even know he was coming back untill he showed up at school today."
"Ok, but why not tell me the second I came over?"
"Cause it's not a big deal."
"Not a big deal, huh?"
"No, it's not."
"Then why wait to bring it up? If it's not a big deal?"
"I-I-"
"That's what I thought."
"No, Seb-" Quinn starts to speak when Kurt and Blaine walk in. Quinn bites her lip and quickly glances at the two then back to Sebastian.
Sebastian sighs. "Look, I'm just gonna go." He walks out the door before she can stop him.
Kurt looks at Quinn. "What was that about?"
Quinn sighs. "It's nothing. By the way, did you know Sam was staying here?" She raises an eyebrow at him.
"Maybe."
"Yeah, well thanks for the heads up." She turns around and heads upstairs. She starts heading towards her room when she's stopped by Sam.
"Didn't mean to get your boyfriend mad." He smirks.
Quinn scoffs and walks into her room and closes the door. She pulls out her phone and tries calling Sebastian. He doesn't answer. She throws her phone on the bed, then herself. "Great." She mumbles to herself.
Quinn spent the next two days trying to get a hold of Sebastian. This was probably the hundredth time she called him. Sebastian pressed ignore and threw his phone on the bed then lets himself fall back onto the bed.
Nick clears his throat. "So, um how are things with Quinn?" Sebastian glares at him. "Bad already?"
"No. I don't know." Sebastian sighs. "Sam's back."
"Sam Evans?"
"That is her ex-boyfriend, right?"
"Well how is that bad, exactly?"
"You're kidding, right?"
"So, what? You think she's gonna dump you?"
Sebastian sighs. "He's living at her house."
"So? That doesn't mean anything. Wait, why is he living there?"
"I didn't get around to asking that."
"So you're mad at her because her ex is back in town and is staying at her house?"
"You wouldn't be mad if one of Jeff's ex's were staying with him?"
Nick pauses for a few seconds then clears his throat. "There's nothing going on with me and Jeff."
"If you say so."
"There's really not."
"Whatever. But would you be mad if you were me?"
"I don't know, dude. But I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about."
"No? I mean, you saw them together, right?"
"For a bit." He shrugs. "Listen, I think you're making a big deal out of nothing."
"It's not really nothing. She didn't tell me he was back to begin with. Let alone that he's gonna be living with her." Sebastian's phone goes off he picks it up then tosses it back on the bed.
"Just talk to her."
Quinn throws her phone into her locker and slams it shut. She closes her eyes and sighs. She opens them and finds Kurt and Blaine standing there.
"What's up?" Kurt asks.
"Nothing." She gives him a fake smile.
"Quinn, I know when your smiles fake."
She sighs. "Sebastian's not exactly talking to me right now."
"Why?" Blaine asks while Kurt scoffs and rolls his eyes.
Quinn glares at Kurt. "Because I didn't get a chance to tell him that Sam was back before Sam came to the house. And it also doesn't really help with the fact that Sam's living with us. Something I didn't know about but he thought I did so I guess he's mad about that too."
"Because Sam's living with us?"
"I've been calling and texting him for a couple of days now and he won't answer me." Finn walk up and Quinn glares at him. "I have to go." She walks off.
"Think she's still pissed at me for the Sam thing?" Finn chuckles.
"She definitely is." Kurt says.
Finn shrugs. "Whatever." He walks off.
"It's me again, but I promise this is the last time I'll call you. I just- I hope you still come tonight. I really want you there. I'll understand if you don't." Quinn sighs. "But I do hope you'll come." She hangs up the phone and tosses it onto her bed. She walk over to her closet and pulls out her outfit for Sectional's. She lays it down on her bed and then jumps into the shower.
A few minutes later, she's out of the shower and starts to get dressed. Within a couple minutes, she's fully dressed. She walks back into the bathroom and finishes doing her hair and makeup. There's a soft knock on the door and she turns around to find Tina standing in the doorway.
"Hey Tina." Quinn gives her a quick smile.
"Hey. So, ready for tonight?"
"As ready as I can be. What about you?"
"A little nervous, honestly. I mean this is the first time I'll be singing the main part in a song."
"You'll do great, Tina."
"Thanks, Quinn. So, I heard you and Sebastian aren't really talking?"
Quinn sighs. "He's mad that Sam's back and that he's staying with us. He was supposed to come tonight, but- I don't think he will." She shrugs. "It's not a big deal, really."
"Well, maybe he'll get over it and show up."
Quinn chuckles. "Thanks for that, Tina. But I doubt it."
"Hey you never know."
Quinn smiles. "Well, it's about time to go. We got Sectional's to win."
Sebastian's laying down on his bed. He looks over at his phone on the side table. The light on it was blinking, singling that he had a message. He had been staring at it for a few minutes now, and he knew it was from Quinn. He sighed and picked it up, and listens to the message.
"It's me again, but I promise this is the last time I'll call you. I just- I hope you still come tonight. I really want you there. I'll understand if you don't. But I do hope you'll come."
He hangs the phone up and places it back down on the table. The door opens and Nick and Jeff come in.
"Hey." Nick and Jeff say at the same time.
"Thought you guys were going home?"
"No, we're actually gonna go to Sectional's." Nick says.
"Yeah, and you're coming with us." Jeff says.
"No, I'm not." Sebastian says.
"Come on dude, you can't stay mad at her forever. So her ex is staying at her house, big deal." Nick says. "Just come with us and at least talk to her. I still think you have nothing to worry about, but..." He holds his hands up.
"I just don't want to go."
"Stop being stubborn." Jeff says. "Just go and talk to her."
Sebastian sighs. "You guys just go."
"We're not leaving until you come with us." Nick says, crossing his arms.
Sebastian sits up. "Then I guess you're not leaving."
"Come on dude. Just go."
Quinn rode with Tina and Mike to Sectional's because she didn't want to be around Finn any more than she would need to tonight. When she walks in she looks around, hoping to see Sebastian, but he's nowhere in sight. Tina puts her hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, it's still a little early. He could still show."
"Maybe." She gives her a half smile. "Let's just go to the choir room." She looks back again, seeing no sign of Sebastian, she follows Tina and Mike to the choir room. When they get there, Quinn goes and sits down up near the windows. She sighs and leans her head back.
"So, you're boyfriend didn't show up?"
Quinn looks up and sees Finn standing in front of her. She rolled her eyes. "No, but that's what you wanted, right?" She gets up and storms out of the choir room, and heads towards her locker. When she reaches her locker, she slides down to the floor, throws her head back against the locker and sighs. She looks down the hallway at the people coming in the school and heading into the auditorium. She sits there for about 5 minutes, just hoping to see Sebastian walk through the door. She thinks about weather or not to had back to the choir room, or just go into the auditorium. She stands up and smooths out her skirt and turns to head back to the choir room.
"Quinn."
Quinn smiles when she hears the familiar voice and turns around. "Sebastian. You came." She steps closer to him.
Sebastian rubs the back of his neck. "Y-Yeah. I, uh - I almost didn't. But those two-" He gestures towards Nick and Jeff, who are standing by the auditorium doors. "-convinced me."
"Look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Sam right away. I just didn't think it was a big deal. And I had no idea that he was going to be staying with us because I didn't even know he was coming back."
"Why?"
"What?"
"Why is he staying with you?"
"Because Finn has this idea that Sam being back will make me break-up with you." Sebastian looks down, and Quinn grabs his hand. "But he's wrong."
Sebastian looks back up. "He is?"
"Yeah. I don't care that Sam's back. I mean, yeah it's a good thing for the New Directions, but other than that I just don't care. I don't want Sam back."
"You don't?"
"No, I don't. I want to be with you."
Sebastian smiles for the first time since he showed up. "Well, good. Because I don't want to let you go just yet."
Quinn smiles, then closes the distance between them. She wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him slowly. Sebastian wraps his arms around her waist, holding her close. They rest their foreheads together when they break apart. "I love you, Sebastian." She gives him another kiss, this one quicker than the last.
"I love you, too."
Quinn smiles again, then is startled by the sound of someone clearing their throat behind her. She turns around and finds Kurt and Blaine standing there. "Hi."
"Hi." Kurt says. "We, uh, need to get in the auditorium."
"R-Right. I'll, uh, be right in." She smiles quickly at them as they walk into the auditorium, then turns back to Sebastian. "So I guess I should get in there."
"Yeah. I'll, uh, see you after." Sebastian tucks some of her hair behind her ear and strokes her cheek, and gives her a quick kiss.
"I'm really happy that you came."
"Me too."
She smiles and gives him one last kiss before heading into the auditorium.
