The Ultimate Saviours
Chapter 12: The Wrath of Kurama
One month ago
Cecilia Reyes sighed as she examined the body of Chelsea Pleasant. A shot to the chest had instantly obliterated her heart; her bastard of a father didn't even have the balls to wake her up.
Chelsea Pleasant was just twelve years old when her powers manifested. In truth the MRD knew about her since then and had been watching her development with great interest. She had the power set of Marvel Girl but none of the baggage, telekinesis and telepathy and in two months she had proven herself a natural, a prodigy with the integrity Cecilia knew Grey didn't have, after all she wrote her psychological profile. There were no reported incidents until the day Karen Grant visited the Pleasant house. Imagine the shock the neighbours had when they heard a shotgun blast. People reported the incident of course and the MRD responded.
'Why did we wait?' Cecilia wondered.
"We need to observe her development a little more," was the creepy response her superior Karl Lykos would often have.
Cecilia was a scientist first, a doctor second and a mother last. She had children whom would undoubtedly be mutants in the future, perhaps inheriting their abilities from their father. She swore to never turn them over to people like Lykos, but to do what Mr Pleasant did was a horror she wouldn't even recount. As Lykos's second in command she had access to technologies that Lykos had used in many of his experiments, such as the force field generator he had designed to harvest human organs, with a little adjustments the generator could be directed to protect a target. Cecilia was smart, so whilst her employer used the generator to 'save' the life of young Miss Pleasant, Cecilia broke her rule as a doctor and planned to use it to take a life.
After her shift she went to the Pleasant's house as a simple citizen wanting to pay her respects. The police didn't charge the man and the neighbours hadn't visited, once they learned Chelsea was a mutant no body cared. It reminded Cecilia too much of when she was younger, when communities judged people by the colour of their skin. A man had murdered and raped one of her friends, but even then he did time in prison, it wasn't enough time but he still served. Worst of all people praised him for it, 'just another nigger'; nowadays it was 'just another mutant'. She worked with the MRD for the advancement of science; Chelsea was dead, murdered by her own father.
"I've come to pay my respects Mr Chelsea, I know what its like to lose a daughter, if you ever need to talk here's my number," she lied of course.
"But you weren't the gun," he muttered, and Cecilia could tell he had been drinking.
So in a change of plan Cecilia went back on her plan, she didn't activate the force field generator on her watch, she didn't block his arteries and trigger a heart attack, she didn't kill a man who deserved to die. Emotional pain was just as devastating as physical and Cecilia hoped Mr Pleasant lived for a very long time.
'He deserves that agony for the rest of his life,' she thought as she drove home and forgot the whole incident.
Upon going back to work Cecilia turned to her one true love in life, science and its advancement. So when Karl Lykos proposed his next sick project Cecilia Reyes didn't bat an eyelash, after all she was a scientist before she was a doctor.
Present time
Sasuke and Fury looked at the glass tube in horror. Floating inside it was a human brain. It was placed on a dish of some kind with numerous syringes sticking into it, pumping it with a yellow liquid, a preserving agent Lykos had designed. Sasuke grit his teeth together and turned to Fury with a look of anger across his face. The Sharingan changed into its Mangekyou state, reflecting off of Fury's eye. He immediately froze as his consciousness took him to a darker world. There he was chained to a stump, looking Sasuke in the eyes.
"No way, I've got some of the most powerful mental blocks in the world," Fury gasped.
"This isn't telepathy genius, this is just you and me, alone, in what you'd probably call a pocket dimension, my people call this kind of technique a Genjutsu the art of illusion, but even Genjutsu can cause pain, this Jutsu is part of my clan's bloodline, Kekki Genkai we call it," Sasuke explained.
The Uchiha slowly drew his sword, an act that didn't frighten Fury, but the general nevertheless struggled against his restraints. Sasuke held the blade over his eye, glaring at Fury, especially when the man smirked.
"Just so you know kid, I broke the record for surviving water boarding," he chuckled. "I've been a prisoner before, I've been through interrogation both the telepathic kind and the kind that involves blades, I even had a guy play Russian roulette with my man parts, whatever you've got in mind doesn't…"
Sasuke suddenly stabbed his blade into Fury's right breast, piercing his lung. The man gasped for air as blood trickled down the blade. He looked at Sasuke, his mouth shaking, and heart pounding with adrenaline.
"This isn't an interrogation General, this is punishment, punishment for the things you've done and the things you haven't done. The only thing I need to do to learn your secrets is to look into your eye," Sasuke slammed his face against Fury's, looking directly into the general's eyes and his darkest secrets.
He saw the Avengers hit squad and an archive of black ops missions against terrorists, mutants and even vampires. Fury had been to a lot of funerals and Sasuke watched many of them through Fury's eyes. Not only did he see what Fury had seen, but he also witnessed the results of the choices Nicholas Fury had made, the heroes whom had died, the missions that had gone AWOL and the villains he had unleashed on the innocent. When he saw a splatter mark on the road and a man with his face peeled off, Sasuke stepped away from Fury in horror. He stood in the darkness, processing the things he had seen. Fury sighed in relief as his chains broke and he fell to the floor, but much to his horror, his limbs were all broken and he was near the edge of a building. The colours of the world were inverted, so alls Fury could see over the edge of the building was darkness.
"You let the Red Skull loose, you let a psychopath into the world and he killed a baby after making its mother kill her husband," Sasuke grit his teeth together, sheathing his sword as the shadow of his fringe obscured his eyes. "Trusting Kabuto is one thing, thinking yourself arrogant enough to be the only one who can protect is one thing, but to manipulate events like that, to set up villains and heroes alike just so you can be the one at the top, regardless of who has to die, abandoning your responsibility for those deaths, that is something I can never forgive!" he grabbed Fury by the collar of his shirt and began dragging him towards the edge of the building.
"I came here to find evidence of corruption," Fury said.
"That's a real comfort to the people dying on the streets, losing their homes because of their genetic status," Sasuke said as he held Fury over the edge of the building.
He looked at Fury and the frightened expression on his face. The Uchiha imagined Danzo and Madara in the man's place. He grit his teeth together as images of that blood puddle on the road flashed before his eyes.
"Finally," he whispered, looking at Fury with a glare, "You understand that fear, what its like to feel truly helpless, to feel LIKE THAT BABY!"
Fury screamed as Sasuke let him go. He fell, feeling air rushing past his head, and then feeling the impact of his body hitting the ground. Again and again Nick felt his body burst on impact with the ground, sometimes in slow motion, other times faster than he could blink, but he still felt the pain and the fear of the fall. Sasuke watched the event happen again and again and a small part of him felt good for torturing the man.
Naruto and his companions ran through the corridors of the base, the alarms flashing behind them. Kitty ran and phased through a wall, looking to see if any prisoners had been left behind. She widened her eyes and grinned sheepishly as several soldiers aimed their rifles at her. The girl ran out of the room and fried the opening console with her powers. The soldiers knocked at the door whilst Kitty ran to meet with her friends.
"This whole facility should have been evacuated by now, some of the men must not agree with Fury's orders," Kitty said.
"Some of these men are bigots, only here because it gives them a chance to pick on mutants, others are here because they genuinely believe in the work the MRD does," Blake explained.
"Its wrong, the concept of being ready when mutant powers go out of control is right, but locking people up like this…its just wrong, alls it will do is create more hatred and lead the way to further tragedy," Naruto explained as he ran ahead of the group.
Several squads of soldiers appeared on the path ahead, aiming their guns at the group. Naruto crossed his fingers together, immediately forging a wall of charging clones. The soldiers fired full clips into the crowd of clones, with every one that fell Naruto made more, even as a bullet rushed past his cheek. The clones and the mutant and humans behind them leapt at the guards, attacking them in a flurry of punches and kicks. Naruto jumped off of one of his clones and kicked a guard in the face, then flipped back as two of his clones dump tackled another guard to the ground. Spiral punched and kicked at the guards, using her multiple arms to pull off their belts, whipping them or tripping them to the floor and taking tasers and batons from them and turning them on their intended wielders. She span two tasers around before pressing them against a man's neck, then she slammed the man's head into her knee. Kitty phased through soldiers and hardened her skin, throwing back crowds of the soldiers with just swings of her arms. Wild Child pounced on guards, punching or head butting them to knock them out. John knocked one guard out after another with his shield, whilst Blake used the butt of a dropped assault rifle to club at others. Colossus stampeded through the soldiers that lined up to stop them, throwing or punching them away from him.
"THIS WAY!" Blake yelled, pointing to a doorway.
"I'll meet you guys at the top," Naruto said as Kurama's Chakra swept across his body.
Changing to his first level Chakra form, Naruto formed a pair of wings on his back and a Rasengan. He flew upwards, smashing through one floor after another, effectively burrowing his way towards the surface of the base.
"Come on this way, like Naruto said we can meet him up on the surface," Blake said.
"Are you sure you know where you're going?" Kitty asked.
"Of course, come on lets go!"
Naruto burst out of the ground, looking at the flaming wreckage of the camp. He gasped as he saw Ultimatom throw Jimmy into a wall. The cyborg turned to face the shinobi and let out a roar. Naruto widened his eyes slightly as Ultimatom rushed towards him. Ultimatom grabbed Naruto by the head and slammed through the outer wall of the camp. Nils looked through his binoculars and his lazy expression suddenly shifted to one of shock as he watched Ultimatom fly with Naruto out of the stratosphere.
"Okay, now would be a good time to run, no, that's a worse idea, you don't abandon your friends," Nils said, more to himself as he teleported.
He appeared inside the camp, right next to Aimi and Santo, both of whom were unconscious. The young man picked them up with his coil arms and teleported to the outskirts of the camp. He widened his eyes slightly as Naruto and Ultimatom crashed into the nearby road. Ultimatom punched Naruto repeatedly, whilst Naruto upped his Chakra level, his 'trench coat' style formed around him before he kicked Ultimatom back. The cyborg slid across the sand and suddenly teleported behind Naruto, hitting him in the back with an optic blast. Then he punched Naruto across the face and grabbed his arm, punching him two times before throwing him into the air. Naruto flipped in midair and tried to form his Rasengan, only for Ultimatom to fire a shockwave into his chest. The young man landed on the sand, his vision dizzy from the beating. Ultimatom suddenly appeared in front of him and grabbed him by the head. The Cyborg's eye glowed as he accessed his telepathy and dived into the mind of his opponent.
Monica Chang helped Fury off of the ground, he was unconscious and in a boiling sweat. She glared at Sasuke, whom brandished his sword against her.
"He's not dead, he'll be back to sitting on his high chair while other people die for him in no time," Sasuke explained.
"You moron, he came here to help mutants," Monica said.
"Really? I didn't see him at Times Square, he hasn't been at any event involving the mass imprisonment of mutants."
"He's responsible for the entire country, there are more threats in this world than the civil rights of a couple of mutants."
"We'll get to you later', I bet that's a real comfort to the people that died because of your people's ridiculous law," Sasuke snarled. "The fact still stands that he could have done more, but he didn't, and people, children have died for it, so live with that! LIVE WITH THAT!" Sasuke roared.
"Agent Barton, we need to evacuate now," Monica said.
Monica frantically tapped at the button for the elevator. She turned only to see Sasuke spewing fire from his mouth, burning parts of the lab. He drew his sword; ready the cut the glass container of the brain apart.
"Stop," Sasuke paused, hearing a voice echo in his mind.
The Uchiha looked at the container in confusion and widened his eyes in shock.
"Please help me," the voice repeated.
"Who are you?" Sasuke asked.
"Chelsea Pleasant, you're not one of the bad men are you?" the girl/brain enquired.
Monica looked at Sasuke in confusion, in her eyes he was talking to no one, thus furthering her view that the ninja wasn't entirely sane. The elevator doors finally opened and Monica rushed inside, tapping the button for the top levels.
"Barton, you'd better have a transport ready," Monica growled.
"Don't worry," Hawkeye said, running a helicopter through its launch process. "Tell me you took down one of those dimension hoppers!"
"Fury's been injured!"
"You're kidding right? They're just kids, all thats blonde one could do was create clones and they practically walked into my arrows, I don't know why Kabuto was so afraid of him," Clint chuckled.
"Remember what Kabuto said Barton: 'be weary of Sasuke Uchiha but do not under any circumstances underestimate Naruto Uzumaki, underestimate him and you will have made the mistake so many others have, underestimate him and you've lost the fight already,' something tells me that we've only scratched the surface of what Naruto and Sasuke can do," Monica explained.
"Whatever, I still say Kabuto's full of shit over how powerful those kids are," the marksman huffed.
Sasuke opened the container and pulled out the jar Chelsea's brain was contained in.
'I swear Chelsea, I will make the people who did this to you pay,' Sasuke snarled.
"But hurting people, that causes pain and suffering doesn't it? Wont that make other people as sad as me?"
'Sometimes people have to die for justice,' Sasuke thought.
He stuck his sword to the ground and summoned a Kirin bolt. The Lightning cut through the surface of the base, killing several people still inside. Kitty and her group widened their eyes in horror, feeling the whole base shake. Sasuke began jumping up the hole he had formed, making his way to the top of the base. His Sharingan became active as he heard the clicking sound of a gun. Sasuke activated Amaterasu and melted a volley of bullets that flew towards him. He turned his attention to the gunship in front of him and set the pilots on fire.
"NO! Please stop!" Chelsea begged.
"Never, never stop making them pay," Sasuke growled.
Sasuke landed on the ground, sliding his sword back into its sheath as the helicopter crashed into the wall behind him. Nils teleported beside Sasuke, looking at the brain he carried in shock.
"Where are the others?" Sasuke asked.
"I got as many as I could out, but Kitty's group are still inside the base," Nils said.
"We need to give them another few minutes, then we go," Sasuke said.
"But…"
"We can't afford to lose what we've gained, I'll take responsibility for it!"
Nils hesitantly nodded his head before grabbing Sasuke's shoulder and teleporting out of the base. Monica carried Fury onto the helicopter, giving the thumbs up to Hawkeye as she strapped the director in. Clint flew off of the helipad, narrowing his eyes at the helicopter still on the exploding base.
"Cooper," Monica glared at the woman seated in the unmoving helicopter.
Sat beside her were Kane and Aurora, her Weapon X operatives. Kane shaped his liquid metal hand into a perfect replica of Naruto.
"That boy, he's something else, we'll need to awaken all our operatives to deal with him," the cyborg explained.
"Ultimatom is a lost cause, but hopefully Professor Lykos secured Weapon 14," Valerie sighed.
"Indeed I have Director Cooper!"
The three Weapon X operatives looked to the walkway. Lykos moved casually, carrying a clip board and leading three blonde haired girls, identical sisters in identical blue and white suits.
"Where's Weapon 14?" Kane asked.
"Recovered I assure you," Lykos smirked.
"What about the data from No-Girl?" Valerie asked.
"I am no amateur Director, our operative will recover the intruders as well."
Kane and Aurora widened their eyes as guards led Colonel Blake onto the helicopter. But the operatives could have sworn they saw Blake with Kitty Pryde and John Walker. The Blake with Kitty led her group through the corridors of the base, towards a blast door and a metallic floor.
"We just need to get that door open, and then we're home free," Blake said.
"All right stand aside, I'll phase through the lock," Kitty said.
Blake stepped away from the group, pushing a button on the side of the wall. Another blast door suddenly shut in front of him, trapping John and the mutants inside. Spiral and Piotr walked to the door, looking through the window at Blake in shock.
"Suckers," Blake said.
The floor began to glow and hum before electricity coursed through the bodies of the people inside. Kitty tried to phase, but the frequency of the electricity had been altered to affect her even at her ghostly density. The mutants fell unconscious one after another, causing 'Blake' to smile as his body began to change. His gut turned into a flat belly, the rest of his body shaped into a voluptuous figure whilst his uniform turned into a black suit. He was in fact a she; the young woman's white hair flowed down her back, a few bangs hung over her blue skinned face and red eyes. She reached into her belt, pulling out a radio.
"Agent Copycat here, prisoners and traitors accounted for," she said, opening both doors for the room.
Armed guards suddenly walked into the room, led by a man in a red and black suit.
"Great job babe, an especially good job on the old X-lady," Deadpool said as he kicked Kitty's shoulder.
"Ease up baby, Cooper wants them alive, boys get them collared and onto a transport, we're going home," Copycat ordered as the armed guards and cyborg Reavers began gathering the unconscious prisoners.
Ultimatom flew inside the recesses of Naruto's mind, seeing a multitude of memories. He saw the boy running joyfully through the streets of Konoha, pulling pranks on his elders and putting graffiti on the monuments of his village leaders. The world he saw confused him, there were no grand cities, no skyscrapers or firearms and there will people with amazing powers, except they were accepted as a part of everyday life. He saw Naruto's struggles with loneliness and his weaknesses, yet through hard work, through defeating one enemy after another and proving his strength he was able to gain the respect of not only his village but also every other hidden village.
"Enjoying the origin story?"
The armoured being widened his eyes, finding himself in a grassy field of some kind. He felt a presence behind him and turned. His shock further increased, elevating his heart rate. But it wasn't fear that pushed his beating heart, it was another feeling he had thought he had forgotten, one the facility had tried to purge of him. Kurama, the gigantic nine tailed fox shared in Ultimatom's excitement as he pulled his claw back. Ultimatom returned to reality and looked upon Naruto. The Shinobi had been covered by a bubbling red aura, the edges of his lips had gone dark like his whisker marks and his sharpened teeth grinded together in a feral grin.
"Shutting down Naruto's mind, was the worst mistake you could make," Kurama spoke through his host, pulling Naruto's fist back.
The red chakra shapped into a claw. Kurama swung the appendage around, ripping through the lower half of Ultimatom's helmet and knocking the man back. The pieces of Ultimatom's helmet and flesh dripped onto the ground. Kurama looked at his opponent, narrowing his red eyes. Ultimatom's jaw plate had been knocked off and the bone and flesh repaired itself. He flashed a feral grin before countering, slashing through the Chakra barrier and ripping Naruto's shoulder. Four tails stretched from the Chakra barrier, ripping off chunks of Ultimatom's armour and leaving cracks on the ground. Red energy burst from Ultimatom's eyes as Kurama generated wind with his tails, winds so powerful that it threw the energy waves across the landscape. Kurama slashed Ultimatom in the gut with his energy claws, and Ultimatom counter, shattering Naruto's knee. But Kurama kept up the assault, healing Naruto's body and ripping away his clothes and skin, turning his body into the burning red Chakra of his beast form. White light shined from Naruto's eyes and his mouth as Kurama took over, growing a fifth tail as the armour on Ultimatom's forearms was torn off by Kurama's jaw.
"Guys like us could level places with mere thoughts and gestures, yet here we are ripping into one another," Kurama cackled as Ultimatom hit his hand against the bone armour forming on Naruto's body. "People always wonder why we bother with the fist fighting, but the answer is clear isn't it?" the Kyuubi asked, taking a slash to the gut.
"ITS BECAUSE WE ENJOY IT!" Ultimatom yelled, hitting Kurama with the stump of his severed arm, releasing a blast of flame that knocked Kurama back.
The Kyuubi slid across the ground, leaving a trail of cracked and burnt ground in front of him. He stood on all fours, extending his tails as Chakra coursed around his mouth. Ultimatom raised his stump, shaping the armour around it into a cannon. Both feral monsters smiled and laughed before releasing energy blasts. The blasts slammed against one another, releasing explosions that shook the ground and lit up the sky. The escaping MRD helicopters lingered over the area, looking at the two collided attacks in horror. Even the escaping mutants with Nils and Sasuke looked on at the devastating power Kurama had without Naruto's restraint to hold it back. Kurama and Ultimatom yelled, increasing the power they generated. The two blasts merged, growing into a balloon that struggled not to burst. Both monstrous creatures cackled before the bubble burst, exploding in a mushroom cloud of energy.
"Oh my god," Nils gasped.
"This is the power of Kurama, the nine nailed fox," Sasuke said.
"We need to go down there and get Naruto," Santo said.
"Just wait kid, wait until the smoke has cleared and we see whose come out on top," Puck explained.
The group held their breaths and Sasuke focused with his Sharingan. He saw through the smoke and widened his eyes. Naruto was on the ground, covered in burns, whilst Ultimatom still stood, pieces of his armour were crumbling and his skin was regenerating. But Naruto was unconscious, beaten whilst Ultimatom survived.
"What power," Sasuke muttered.
A pair of wings suddenly burst out of Ultimatom's back, metallic in nature they extended until they were twice the size of Ultimatom. Sasuke watched the armoured being fly away before focusing his attention on Naruto. He widened his eyes as a silver blur flew into Naruto. The blur moved through the smoke and into the distance, towards the limit of Sasuke's eyes. Sasuke remained silent as the smoke cleared and the mutants around him gasped in horror.
"Where is he?" Aimi asked.
"They couldn't have destroyed one another, they couldn't right?" Domino asked.
"Don't count Naruto out yet," Jimmy growled.
"He's still alive," Sasuke said, silencing the bickering mutants. "We're going to go back to the tunnels, regroup and recover and then find out friends, can you help us with that Chelsea?" Sasuke asked the brain.
"Of course Sasuke!"
Sasuke looked at his friends, the group stood looking at the brain in the jar. Nils dropped his jaw and fell to the floor.
"Y-you, you, YOU'RE CARRYING A BRAIN IN A JAR!" the teleporter yelled.
"How can you be so casual about it?" Aimi asked the shinobi.
Sasuke shrugged his shoulders and touched Nils's shoulder.
"Get us home now," he ordered.
Nils nodded his head, cringing slightly as Sasuke gave him Chelsea's brain. He opened his chest cavity, activating his powers and teleporting the group away from the devastated ruin that was once never land.
Naruto opened his eyes, his blurry vision slowly cleared to reveal a dark metallic ceiling. He climbed off of the gurney he had been placed on and looked at his new clothes. Someone had dressed him into a white suit with black across the shoulders and legs. It wasn't so much the costume Naruto minded, after all it was more comfortable than the prison clothes the MRD had given him and the new suit had orange padding on the joints and orange marks on the hips and chest. What Naruto did mind was the thought of being dressed.
"Great, second time someone's touched me when I'm naked without buying ramen first," he groaned.
"It wasn't that bad!"
Naruto screamed, jumping high onto the ceiling. Chakra stuck his feet to the wall as he looked down at the new arrivals. He narrowed his eyes at them, recognising them from the descriptions Kitty had given him. The one whom had shocked him was Wanda Lensherr, the beautiful Scarlet Witch, dressed in the costume she wore as an Ultimate. Beside her as always was her brother Quicksilver, also dressed in his Ultimate costume. Standing behind them, shirtless and with his massive arms crossed over his chest was the feral Sabretooth and next to him, clad in a black tank top with fingerless gloves, fatigue and boots was the blue skinned Mystique. There were also several people Naruto didn't remember Kitty describing, obvious mutants. One was a brown haired boy who was impossibly overweight, yet he could still stand in clothes that just barely fit him. Another blue skinned girl had much to the satisfaction of Naruto's inner pervert no clothes on.
'Although she lacks certain…parts!' Naruto thought, blushing heavily as the red haired girl looked up at him.
She had three blue scales running over the top of her head and on her shoulders. Another unfamiliar face was a pure white skinned man, wearing an open sleeveless jacket with sunglasses over his eyes and bandana on his head. Second was a dark haired boy as young as Naruto, wearing green cargo trousers and black boots. He didn't wear a shirt, only a harness of some kind with armour covering his armless stumps. A pair of metallic arms floated where his limbs should have been. The final member of Quicksilver's group was a young brown haired man wearing a black suit with padding on the shoulders and chest; he wore some kind of see through helmet/visor over the top part of his face.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr Uzumaki," Quicksilver said, bowing his head slightly.
Naruto flinched, looking at Pietro in disgust.
"A pleasure, what did you do when I was out?"
Sabretooth and Mystique smirked as Pietro widened his eyes, realising Naruto's interpretation of his statement.
"What? No, not like that!"
Wanda and the blue skinned girl laughed as Naruto jumped back behind the gurney, hiding from Quicksilver.
"Get away!"
"Naruto I didn't mean it like that!"
"Although you ruined my brothers attempt to sound mysterious and ominous, we are very pleased to meet you Uzumaki-kun, your actions against Stryker were much appreciated," Wanda explained.
Naruto stood up from behind the gurney and narrowed his eyes at Wanda.
"You've provided both the humans and mutants with things they have lacked since the death of the original Spider-man, an icon Uzumaki-kun, someone to inspire them to take action, for that we thank you and invite you to join our new Brotherhood of unity!"
Wanda clicked her fingers and a grand light suddenly engulfed the room. Naruto widened his eyes, behind Wanda's main cabal of the Brotherhood were hundreds of people, like in the Morlock tunnels Wanda and Pietro had gathered followers both mutant and human. Pietro returned to his casual and arrogant state as he looked at Naruto.
"We've bought you here to discuss our next move, the formation of a new nation!"
