The High School Hero - Hahaa, I love the name of that triangle! Nah, have no fear, Jet is only here to rile Sonic up ;D Ooooooh, that's an interesting theory! I won't confirm it, just to keep up the suspense, but you're on the right track! ;3

Savvy0417 - Awh, thank you very much!

Kirbymon11 - I'd love to know your theory, but thank you for keeping schtum just in case of any spoilers! ;D Let me know if you do end up being right! Haha, I'd love Knuckles to do that xD Oh wow, that sounds awesome! I hope you get past your writer's block because that'd be so interesting!

Yasmine115 - Tension all around! Ah, I'm so glad! :D

Chaotic hedgehog - Oooh, an interesting suggestion! Haha, am I predictable? xD N'aww, I'm sorry! I just love the drama too much! Aw, that's so sweet! Did you like it? :D

usawriter36 - Thank you very much!

DidntMakeDeletingAccountsEasy - Thank you so much for your assistance with the university details I cringe at how little I knew, when I look back at it now, as I am at university xD And I'm so glad you like the direction of the Tails, Cosmo and Cream triangle, even if I am tugging on some heartstrings a bit! I love that it's a dilemma! :D

ShadowAngel1 - Aw, thank you!

Fables-and-FairyTale - Some drama within the ranks! I really hope you like this chapter! :3

Dovewing01 - Hello! And of course you get a cookie, always! ;D

Mobius freak - The hint of a love triangle is strong in this one! X'D Hahaha, Amy getting thrown into the middle of the ring? It may happen! Oooooh, an interesting suggestion! I like that! Hahaha, it just depends who the fight is between! There are plenty of candidates, atm! xD

Steve993 - Aw, thank you so much! Yes, there's a lot of potential for Sally's character which I can't wait to play around with in future chapters! Her path is very much in two directions, right now, and it just depends which one she picks!

CoffehTime - Thank you ever so much! :'3

TheMidnightShadow - That made me laugh xD

Eli Swafford - All ships are equally valid! I personally actually really like both Taiream and Tailsmo, which is why I'm cool with writing either! :D

Guest - Maybe! ;)

Chapter 4: Not Good At Sharing

(Sonic)

I grinned to myself, as I waited for Shadow to catch up. As I rolled my eyes, Shadow zipped towards me, his expression furious. Snickering, I'd figured that racing him around the university campus, during the Freshers' Fair would end in fury, "Jeez, Shads, I thought that'd be a challenge, at least."

"That's because I don't cheat," He growled.

"Cheat? Me?"

"You told me my bike was on fire!"

"I thought you'd be grateful!"

"It wasn't on fire. It was just so you could win the damn race!"

"If it had been on fire, you wouldn't be so annoyed right now."

Shadow glared at me, "It's not on fire."

"That's not the point! I was looking out for you! And your bike."

Entirely done with this conversation, Shadow waved his hand in dismissal and sighed. With a smirk, I turned my back and glanced over to where Amy was standing. But then my face fell when I saw that she was talking to that jackass, Jet the Hawk.

"Faker?" Shadow addressed me, frowning at my shocked expression. He followed my line of sight, "Ah. It seems that he has found your weak point."

"C'mon. We've gotta show him where to go!" I declared, preparing myself to stride right over there.

Shadow grabbed my arm, "Do you really think that's a good idea?"

I frowned at him, "Why not? He can't push us around, especially me and you. We can take him with our eyes closed."

"I agree. I just wonder if it's the best plan. Fighting won't make him back off; it will only spur him on. And do we really want to make another enemy? You know how it turned out with Sally. We might not have so much luck with Jet disappearing, this time."

"About that. She's not gone. Amy and I saw her, here, at the university. She's back."

Shadow processed this information remarkably well, "Did she seem hostile?"

"Not exactly. Ames said she thought she'd changed, but I can't quite get to grips with that idea."

He placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder, "Sonic, I will stand with you against your enemies. Despite our differences, I do consider us friends. But doesn't Amy deserve to enjoy the peace we have now? Everyone is relaxed — I don't think anyone wants another argument."

I sighed, relenting, and wished that Shadow wasn't always annoyingly wise about these things, "You're right. We'll do this your way. But we should head over and see what's going on."

"Agreed."

As we marched over, Jet was already turning on his heel and walking away. He stuck his tongue out at us, when he noticed our stares, but I managed to hold myself back and just keep walking. We zoomed over to Amy and Cosmo, just missing the low conversation that the two of them were having, as they hugged.

Amy noticed us first, "Hey, guys."

Cosmo looked up and took a step back, quickly wiping her eyes and shooting us a weak smile, "Hello Sonic, Shadow."

Shadow grunted. I gave them matching smiles, "What's going on with you guys?"

"Um," Amy glanced at Cosmo, eyes wide, "Nothing, really. Just talking about nothing."

I didn't entirely believe her, but whatever the problem was it seemed to be focused on Cosmo. I didn't have a right to demand that they tell me.

"Okay," I straightened up and brushed it off, "What was up with Jet? Was he harassing you two?"

Amy looked confused, for a moment, but then I saw recognition light up in her eyes, "Oh, right, Jet! Yeah, well, he didn't say all that much, other than boasting about himself and insulting you."

I rubbed the back of my head, "Yeah, that sounds like him alright."

"What problem have you gotten yourself into now, Sonic the Hedgehog?" Amy pretended to be scolding me, slinging her hands onto her hips, but she was struggling not to smile.

"Same ol', same ol'. Nothing for you to worry about!" I grinned, whacking on the charm.

"That's not going to work on me," She said, "I want to know what happened."

Sighing, I held my hands up in surrender and explained what had happened in our flat. Amy was suitably pissed, but Cosmo wasn't too focused, instead staring at Shadow. He didn't really pay much attention to it, with closed eyes and folded arms. I tried to put it out of my mind, rounding up the story.

"Hmph! That Jet! Who does he think he is?!" Amy huffed. Smiling, I appreciated her instant loyalty to me.

"Don't sweat it, Ames. I've got it covered!"

"Right," She didn't look convinced, "Shadow, can I count on you to keep an eye on him? Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."

Shadow nodded, "Of course."

Quietly, but quickly, Cosmo started sniffing and adamantly rubbed her eyes. Her voice was timid and soft, but I just managed to catch her saying, "I don't understand, how do you do it, why can't he feel that way about me..."

Amy swiftly pulled Cosmo into a hug, soothingly stroking her hair and whispering comforts. I looked over at Shadow, unsure of what had just happened. He shrugged back at me, equally oblivious.

"What's going on?"

I turned and saw Silver approaching us. The grey hedgehog looked just as confused as the two of us did.

"Beats me," I admitted, looking back at Amy and Cosmo.

"I-I'm fine," The seedrian sniffled, taking a step away from Amy, "Don't worry about me."

Amy gave her a sympathetic look, "Maybe Cosmo and I should take a walk."

"That might be a good idea. See you later, Ames?" I asked, wanting to spend some alone time with her, at some point.

"Of course," Both sensitive and strong, she lead Cosmo out of the hall. I stared after them both, before getting elbowed in the ribs.

"Get you, lover-boy," Silver laughed, waiting for Shadow to also crack a smile.

I shook my hed, grinning, "You can talk. Remember, Silver, I've been on double dates with you and Blaze. I can hardly speak without your mouth being attached to hers!"

He flushed a deep red, "Good going making it sound gross, Sonic. And that's not true!"

"Says you."

(Amy)

Cosmo and I escaped outside, breathing in the fresh air of the city. The university was slap-bang in the middle of the residential area, surrounded by streets of houses and alleyways. To our right, the infamous clocktower of Spagonia stood out from the sky, towering over us and watching the workings of the city below. The fountain made a pretty tinkling noise.

I took Cosmo over to a wooden bench, close to the university's buildings. She had stopped crying, but her expression was still fragile. I frowned and waited for her to speak.

She sniffed, "Thank you, Amy. For everything you said back there. And for not telling the boys."

"No problem. But I really think you should talk to Tails about this."

"I know. And I will. But I think I've had another idea," Cosmo nodded to herself, struggling with a smile, "I have you to thank for it."

I tilted my head, wondering what I'd inspired her with, "What's that?"

Cosmo laced her fingers together, "I'll speak to you and all of the girls tonight."

I couldn't help but feel nervous for what she had planned. I knew from experience how love could make you do crazy things. I just hoped that it wouldn't have an damaging effects on Cosmo and Tails.

(Sonic)

I was standing in our kitchen accommodation, impatiently, whilst Silver stood in front of me with a pondering look on his face.

"You gonna make a decision? Or stare at me all day?" I asked.

"Put in some effort, Sonic!" Silver scolded, "You're going on a date."

"Yeah. I've done it before, Silver," I raised an eyebrow, "So I'm not gonna dress to the nines."

"You asked for my help!"

"No — you said that I needed help getting ready for the date. There's a difference."

Tails lowered his book, "Where are you taking her?"

"Not sure, buddy. We might wander 'round the city. You know, explore."

"Ah. Of course, your date couldn't be non-adventurous," Tails grinned, "By wander round, you mean run, right?"

I laughed, "You know me too well, Tails!"

"But do you know Amy?"

"Shuddup, Knuckles."

(Amy)

Standing in the shower, I revelled in the feeling of water running over my body. I always loved preparing to go out, especially if I was going on an evening date with Sonic. I was always just as excited as if it were our first date.

Turning the water off, I wrapped a towel around myself and tugged a brush through my hair, attempting to smooth it down as it dried. My outfit was hung on the back of the bathroom door, and I was just about to take it down, when I heard yelling from outside.

It was Cosmo who I heard first, with her quiet protestations. Then Rouge threw out a sharp obscenity. But then I heard someone else arguing with them.

I threw the door open and hurried into the shared area. A hedgehog was standing in front of Rouge and Blaze, who stood side by side. Cosmo and Cream lingered on the side-lines.

Blinking, I couldn't believe who was standing in the middle of our living room. He was here?!

"Get out!" Blaze ordered.

Rouge stepped forward, "You heard her. Fucking leave, you perv. You can't just barge in here!"

Scourge grinned, "Watch that mouth a' yours. There's some filth flying from it, and I don't mind cleaning up."

"Are you threatening me?"

"Sure, if that makes you feel more comfortable," Scourge's cold eyes scanned the room, until they caught sight of me. I clutched the top edge of my towel, in form of protection.

"Pinkie," Scourge snickered, "That towel would look much better on the floor. Although, I hear you're Sonic's girl now, huh? Such a waste."

I gritted my teeth, "Get the hint, Scourge. You're not wanted here."

He took a step forward, gaze set steadily on me. Rouge made a grab at him, perhaps reaching for a punch, but he shoved her aside. I backed up against the wall, frozen.

"I think I can change your mind."

Fuck.
