Oh by the way we don't own PJO, HOO or any of the characters.

Annabeth P.O.V

After five hard weeks of school and trying to persuade Piper into letting me get a job, it was finally time for Halloween. Well, a week before Halloween but whatever. I know that I don't seem like the type of person to like Halloween, but I was excited because my 'Mommy and Me' group was throwing a Halloween party, and I was sure Charlie would love it.

"Oh come on Annabeth!" Piper groaned waving a costume magazine in front of me. "You would look great in this one!" She gestured at a picture featuring a gorgeous model wearing a 'sexy nurse' costume.

"You do realize how ridiculous you're being Piper." I sighed, "I'm going to a Mommy and me party not a collage party." I swatted away the magazine.

"But you would look so good" Piper whined.

"I already have my schoolgirl costume anyways." Piper perked up and opened her mouth. "No Piper, not a sexy school girl, I'm just going to wear a white button down shirt with a plaid skirt" She slumped back on the couch dejectedly. "And I have Charlie's book costume already made."

Piper was about to try another argument when Hazel came down the stairs with Charlie in her arms.

"Thank you Hazel for saving me from this costume monster" I said glancing at Piper as I got up and took Charlie from Hazel. She stuck her tongue out at me. "Oh come on Annabeth, I'm not that bad, if you won't do it for me do it for Percy!" She begged.

"I've told you a thousand times Piper, Percy and I are just friends, and even if we weren't I would still have to say no." I glanced down at Charlie who gurgled up at me.

"If it makes you feel better Annabeth" Hazel said "Piper has tried to make me do it too"

"And to no avail" Piper added dejectedly from the couch.

"Piper, no one wants to be a 'sexy ladybug.' How is that even a thing anyway?" Hazel giggled.

"Whatever." Piper sighed, "Just don't be expected to get asked out or anything."

I raised my eyebrows and looked at Hazel, who wore the same sly smile. "So that's why you're doing this." I said.

"Doing what?" Piper responded with a suspicious glance.

"Wearing a sexy costume like you've been bugging us about!" I exclaimed.

"And just to impress Jason," Hazel said, shaking her head mournfully and trying to hide her smile.

"That is not why!" Piper shouted. I shot her a frustrated glare as Charlie started wailing.

I went into the kitchen to get a snack for me and a teething ring for Charlie. I opened the freezer where I had frozen his teething rings and pulled a blue one out. Charlie grabbed for it and began gnawing on it ferociously. I opened the cupboard and got out some chips, then walked back to the living room where our debate from earlier was still going on.

"Guys," I said, interrupting them, "Lets just drop it." They both shrugged, and Piper took a lunge for my chips. I quickly turned away so she fell on the floor.

I shook my head. "Nope Piper, these are my chips." She groaned from the floor as I laughed.

"You're like the mom of this family" She said getting up. My happy demeanor faded. Did I seem like a mom? Would people notice? Oh gods maybe they all knew! Now my reputation would be ruined at this school too.

"Earth to Annabeth." Piper said while waving her hand in front of my face. "You OK?" She asked with a concerned expression on her face.

I nodded. "Yeah . . . fine." I looked down at Charlie and smiled. I guess being a mom wasn't that bad, but no one could ever find out.

"Hey Hazel!" Piper called. "How are things with your brother and Will."

"I don't know." Hazel said thoughtfully, "Want to Skype him?"

"You know I do" Piper said eagerly, clambering off the couch and shuffling to the study where our main computer lived.

"I'm going to go upstairs with Charlie" I said, hurrying up the stairs.

"Annabeth wait!" Hazel called after me. "You can trust Nico, I know he won't tell anyone." I looked down over the railing at her pleading face and considered it until my senses kicked back in. I couldn't trust anyone, not after . . . him.

"I'm sorry Hazel." I gave her my saddest look. "I just . . . can't." And without waiting for her reply I headed upstairs to Charlie's room.

I set him down on the floor and watched him chew happily on his teething ring. I checked my watch, 1:30, Charlie's nap-time. I picked him up and set him down in his crib. "Night-night Charlie" I wispered. I walked out of the room and shut the door, grateful that Charlie didn't cry when I put him down.

I hurried down the stairs so I could talk to Nico.

"I swear there is NOTHING going on between us! Leave it alone Piper!" I hear him shout from the computer. I stroll through the door way and he sees me.

"Help Annabeth!" He moans, "Save me from her!" I shake my head, grinning mischievously, and put my hands on my hips.

"We all know there is something going on between you and Solace." I saw him blush as I said Will's name. Both Piper and Hazel nodded, agreeing with my statement.

"Mmhm," Hazel said, "And I know because I'm your sister and I know when my brother has a crush."

"You're only my half-sister." Nico snapped, and then looked like he immediately regretted it. "I'm so sorry Hazel!" he rushed, but it was too late, Hazel already had tears welling in her eyes. She knew she wasn't Bianca and she always tried to be like her for Nico. It had hit him hardest when Bianca had died protecting him from an oncoming car.

"Nico . . . just, don't." She cried, luckily not loud enough to wake up Charlie, and rushed up to her room.

"Oh no oh no oh no!" Nico paced back and forth frantically on the computer screen. "What have I done! Get her back, please, I have to apologize!" I nodded and raced up the stairs to Hazel's bedroom.

I went up to her dark purple door and knocked lightly. "Hazel?"

"Come in." Said a muffled voice I knew was Hazels. I opened the door tentatively and looked in to see Hazel curled up in a ball on the bed. I walked over and sat next to her.

"You know he didn't mean it" I said comfortingly, rubbing her back.

"Annabeth, how can I ever live up to Bianca? She saved his life for gods sake's!" She wailed "I'm just Hazel, his little sister, and I won't ever be able to protect him like she did."

"Honey." I comforted, wrapping my arms around her. "You're not Bianca, and he doesn't expect you to be, I'm sure he thinks the same things; 'how can I be a good older brother to Hazel, like Bianca was to me', but he still isn't over her death, you know that"

She nodded "I guess you're right Annabeth"

"Now lets go downstairs" I said, grabbing her hand and pulling her with me.

After everyone made up and we'd teased Nico till he was bright red, he hung up, claiming he 'just couldn't take anymore'. We laughed and bade him goodbye.

Nico's POV

"Ugh, girls!" I grumbled, turning away from the computer. "Me and Will! Ridiculous! He's way too . . . Uh . . ." I trailed off, realizing I couldn't think of anything really wrong with him. "Gods dam it Solace! You perfect little-"

Just then my phone rang, which was probably good considering I'd been about to start cursing fluently. I grabbed my phone off the desk and checked the caller ID. "Speak of the devil." I said and pushed 'accept call.'

"Hello Sunshine." I said sarcastically, "Is it time for another completely unnecessary check up?"

"Ooh Sunshine. I like that nickname. If I didn't know any better I'd think you were flirting with me Death Boy." I could practically hear the wink in Will's voice.

"Good thing you do know better then. And for the millionth time don't call me Death Boy." I carefully kept my own voice grumpy as usual. I had decided long ago there would be no pining over Will Solace. It didn't matter if he had the most beautiful honey eyes I'd ever seen, or if his smile could light up a room. And I certainly don't care that he was gay too. And perfect. And -

I was getting off track. I didn't like Will. He was annoying. Too cheery. Too nice. And far too blonde. no matter how curly and soft his hair seemed or how much I wanted to run my fingers through it, it didn't change the fact that it was really, really blonde. I shuddered. Blondes.

"Sure Death Boy." Will was speaking again and I snapped back to attention at the annoying nickname. "Look, I know you hate me-" did I detect a note of sadness buried under all that happy? "- and I promise this can be the last check up. But you do have to come today. Doctors orders!"

"You aren't even a doctor yet! You still have a couple more years at school. Until then, you're still just a medical major." I grumbled, but despite myself I grabbed my coat and went out to my car.

"Close enough!" He chuckled. "I'll see you soon Death Boy."

"Okay, I'm here. What do you want." I said as Will opened the back door of the hospital he had a internship at.

"What, no Sunshine?" He pouted, his way-too-blonde hair falling in front of his brilliant golden eyes.

"No. No Sunshine." I deadpanned.

"You're no fun." He opened the door wider so I could scoot past him. "Welcome to my humble abode."

"You don't live here. We're in the nurses ward."

"No really genius. It's an expression."

Ugh. His stupid attractive grin again. brighter now, if that was even possible. I looked up at him dubiously.

"Now come on Death Boy, time for your check-up" He said briskly walking to the back.

"Who even lets you here?" I muttered under my breath.

"My sister is a nurse here and just so you know I am highly qualified" He smirked back at me.

"Dam you Solace" I muttered "Qualified my ass"

To that he just quirked his eyebrow and smiled, ugh why does that have to be so attractive, wait no, not attractive. I do notlike Will Solace.

I walked in front of him and sat on one of the chairs in the room where my last check-up would be.

"OK same as the last times, and I'll see you off" He said, trying to keep up his happy tone but failing. Why was he so sad? He ran his fingers through my hair, feeling my skull for any wounds from my fall.

"You're all good" He said smiling down at me. "You don't have to come back, see you around?" He tilted his head, in an adorable manner that compelled me to say these words:

"Ya, maybe you want to catch a cup of coffee tomorrow at Olympia Cafe?" I stopped, I can't believe I just did that, he's going to turn me down and laugh at me. How could you!?

Much to my surprise he replied "Of course see you then!" And his signature sunny smile was back.

I nodded my head and got up out of the chair and proceeded to walk out the door. Once I was out of the building I did a little leap for joy. Why would I do that. I mean we're just friends right?
