Chapter 13

"Where's Rose," Elijah asked rhetorically as we pulled up to a large run down house. "She was supposed to meet us here." At our silence from the back of the van, he paused from getting out and turned to stare at us. "Where's Rose?" he asked us specifically.

Dimitri sighed. "Klaus took her," he said.

Elijah sighed. "Our plans are to change now." He got out of the van and we followed him hastily.

"Do you not care that he killed my best friend?" I screamed.

"I do care." He spun to face us. "Do not think so low of me. She will be avenged when I kill Klaus tonight." He started to speak to Alaric and Stefan as they walked towards the house. "The sacrifice will happen in stages as the full moon sets. First the werewolf is killed, then the vampire, finally the Doppelganger. Once Elena dies, the curse will be broken. Klaus will become a hybrid."

"So when do we attack?" Alaric asked.

"Elena's death will activate his dormant werewolf side. He'll be vulnerable during the transformation. That's where Bonnie comes in."

"And you're sure that Bonnie will survive this?" Stefan asked concerned for his friend.

"If she can deliver him to the brink of death, I'll finish the job myself."

A phone started ringing and Stefan took his out to answer it. "Damon," he said before stopping to let Damon talk. "Cut to the chase. Is the sacrifice happening or not? … We're sticking with the plan. We're meeting Bonnie … What?" As Damon spoke this time, Stefan turned to look at Alaric.

"What is it?" Alaric asked. "What's wrong?"

Stefan didn't say anything, he just let Damon talk. "Oh my God, he eventually said.

We stayed outside while Stefan, Alaric and Elijah went inside.

"How could he not care about Rose?" I asked. "And what the hell did that guy do to her to make her go grey like that?"

"I think he does care about her," Guardian Hathaway said. "But I think there is more to this than anyone is letting on."

"I hope Rose is okay," Eddie said.

"Rose is fine," a voice said from behind us. We all turned to see Elijah walk towards us. "And you're right. There is more to this, but you obviously don't understand."

"What is there to understand?" I screamed at him. "What has Rose got to do with any of this?"

"Everything." I spun to look at Guardian Belikov incredulously. "Can't you see what she was subtly trying to tell us?" We shook our heads and he sighed. "Rose is one of them. She's Elijah's sister."

Elijah didn't seem to be surprised. "When did you figure it out?" He asked

"When Klaus said who I looked like. But it didn't hit me till he ran off with her."

"You're both lying," I cried. "I have known Rose my whole life. She has never said anything about you or this crap story I keep hearing. I couldn't look at them anymore so I ran off with tears in my eyes.
