Annabeth P.O.V

CRASH!

The bowl hit the wooden welcome mat and broke, pieces of glass flying everywhere, and cranberry sauce splattering over Sally and my's dresses.

"I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, "I was just a bit . . . surprised." I looked meaningfully at Sally.

"It's fine Annabeth dear," her voice dropped to a whisper, "We'll have to talk later though." Back to a normal volume, she turned and spoke through the doorway. "Percy, could you get me some paper towels please."

Percy's response came as a muffled "Sure".

As Sally and I cleaned up the mess on the floor, I thought about the mess I had made coming here. Granted, I hadn't even thought of the possibility of Percy's mom being my friend from Charlie's group, but fate had never been kind to me so why would it now?

Once the mess had been cleaned up, and I had received a hug from Percy, I looked around the apartment. It was nothing huge, like Piper's apartment, but it had a homey feeling- definitely a cozy and nice place. Of course the delicious aromas from the kitchen only enhanced that atmosphere.

"Paul, Percy's friend is here!" Sally called down the hallway in the back.

I heard a familiar giggle that I knew must belong to Danny. Then I heard her little legs pounding on the floor, running to meet me. I saw her head of curls pop around the corner and bounce as she ran towards me. As soon as she saw me she screamed out "Annabewth! "

Covering up the fact that she knew my name, I turned to Percy, smiling,

"Told her about me huh?"

A blush crept up Percy's cheeks as he mumbled something under his breath I couldn't comprehend.

"Hi Paul." I greeted the figure in the back with a wave. "I'm Annabeth." Paul waved back to me.

Then Danny came and hugged my legs, looking at the door, "Where's Charlie?" she asked, not understanding the situation I was in.

"Who?" I asked, pretending that I was a normal collage girl who did not have a child.

Danny shot me an irritated glare, knowing full well that I knew who Charlie was.

"Oh," Sally laughed, "Charlie is a little boy in our mommy and me class, who has a mother named Annabeth, she must have gotten you guys confused."

Danny pouted, she was a very intelligent two year old who knew that she was right and did not liked to be mocked like this. "No." Danny said to Sally, "This Annabeth."

"Yes that is my name Danny."

"Then where's Charlie!"

"I don't know who that is." I had trouble lying to the little girl, she would probably be mad at me at the next class.

"Yes you do!" She stomped her foot on the floor "I want play with him."

Percy sighed and pulled me toward the hallway, "Me and Annabeth are going to my room, call us when dinner is ready!"

"Annabeth and I!" Paul corrected with a smile, making way for Percy and me.

"Percy we should help make dinner, I feel bad that I spilled all the cranberry sauce!" I tugged him in the opposite direction.

"Oh no, just relax Annabeth, I insist you deserve a break from-" Sally caught herself quickly, ". . . school."

"See Annabeth, my mom insists, lets go." Percy dragged me to his room.

His room surprised me, when I imagined Percy's room the word messy came to my mind, but actually it was kind of neat. His bed was made his desk had things nicely organised on it. On his window sill sat a few shells in a row. He had a dresser and a closet, both painted blue, obviously done by hand, it was quite a messy paint job.

"I'm sorry about Danny, she usually isn't like that." He sat down on his bed. "So how have you been? We haven't really talked."

I looked down at my feet, ashamed, "I've been ok."

"Come here." Percy patted part of the bed next to him, "How have you really been? I might be oblivious but I can tell there's something wrong."

I sat down next to him and he pulled me in for a hug. He smelled like the sea.

"Is it about not being with your family on thanksgiving?" He whispered in my ear, brushing the curls back from my forehead.

Yeah, I could totally pull that off as the reason I was upset. I nodded into his chest.

"You don't have to answer . . . but thanksgiving is a family holiday . . . why are you spending it here if you miss them so much?"

Dam, that was a good point, without thinking I blurted- "They kicked me out over a year ago." What had I just said!? Oh my gods no! Why do I have trust Percy? Why is he so dam comforting?!

Percy sucked in a breath and said in a voice that was obviously supposed to be calm but barely hid the rage boiling underneath, "They what? How could they do that to their own daughter!"

"It's . . . complicated . . . ?" I said, even though it wasn't really, I just couldn't tell Percy about Charlie.

"How could they do that to my precious Annabeth?" He hugged me tight.

"I'm not your Annabeth." I slapped him playfully.

"But you are." He started tickling my ribs.

A fun fact about me: I am very, very ticklish.

I let out a huge laugh and tried to wiggle away, but Percy's arms were to strong and he held me tight.

"So we're gonna play that way." I turned on him and tickled his sides. He fell back laughing on his bed as he tried to pin my arms down. He managed to do that, but not before I got some very good tickles in.

I was pinned down on his bed, Percy panting above me, his shaggy hair hanging down from his eyes. He leaned in, oh my gods was he going to kiss me? Did I want him to? Yes? No! What?! In my panicked state I leaned my face toward his and tilted my head to the side . . . and licked him, all over his cheek.

"Ew," Percy sat up, "You licked me."

"No really I didn't realize." I rolled my eyes.

Percy had a kind of disappointed look in his eyes, did he want to kiss? No, that couldn't be it.

"Stop being such germaphobe." I ruffled his hair.

"You wouldn't like to be licked either." he mumbled.

"You're just mad you didn't think of it first."

"Of course I didn't it's weird to lick people."

"You're just jealous." I sang.

"Of your ability to lick people?" he laughed, "I don't think so."

" You are just so jealous." I poked him in the stomach.

"I think this is war." he started tickling me again.

"I'll lick you." I warned, laughing "I'll do it don't push me."

In a flash he had my arms pinned above my head with one arm the other one tickling my ribs. Oh gods his face was really close to mine again, should I lick him?

Luckily I was saved by a knock on the door.

"Perthy it's dinner time!" Danny voice rung out.

Percy got up and straightened his shirt out. I did the same with my dress.

Percy opened the door, "To dinner m'lady?"

I slapped him and walked out the door.

"Hey Danny." I said cautiously to the little girl standing by the door.

All she did was look at me and turn away. So she was still upset that I was lying.

Percy pulled me from behind into the bathroom to wash our hands.

When we were sitting down at the table Sally came with the turkey and the smell of it was so enticing I wanted to grab it from Sally's hands and gobble it up.

I looked at the spread on the table and noticed the lack of cranberry sauce. I felt bad because I had worked pretty hard on it.

"So sorry again about the cranberry sauce." I said to Sally as she served everyone turkey and mashed potatoes.

"Oh don't worry about it honey. But that aside, how's architecture going for you?"

My favorite topic! Nice and safe too. No one would be thinking about babies or children or kids of any kinds. "It's great! the professor is going to have us start Greco roman after break and I'm so excited. I've already read the textbook stuff on it and it looks incredible! How's Adventures in Paradise going?"

"Oh, well, I found this great site with all these pictures of tropical places and it's given me so much inspiration! I think it's just fascinating how a single image can stir up so much creative energy." Sally chattered happily.

Percy and Paul just stared at us.

Oh gods, I wasn't supposed to know what her book was called, much less that she was even an author. How in hades was I going to explain this one?

Luckily for me Sally jumped in. "I'm sorry I haven't told you Percy, I should of earlier." I widened my eyes at Sally, how could she possibly explain this?

All Sally did was nod at me and send me a look that said 'I got this don't worry'. Guess I'd just have to trust her, wasn't like I had any brilliant plans at the moment.

Sally smiled. "Annabeth is one of my fans, she and I talk through my website."

"Yeah," I went along with it, this was probably the best lie we could tell. "She dedicated something to you Percy and I just put two and two together, your mother is a great writer."

"That's kinda weird. You've been talking to my mom? And mom why didn't you tell me?"

"I tried to, remember last week"

"I thought it was just going to be another 'oh look how cool my fans are, they are older than 12.'"

Sally gave him a look that said 'you didn't just do that'.

Paul cleared his throat, "Uh, so Percy and Annabeth how long have you been dating?"

My head snapped around to face him, Percy spit out his water.

"What?!" We sputtered in unison.

"Oh I just assumed since its thanksgiving and all."

"Paul," Percy whined, " I talked about this last night, we are just friends."

I nodded quickly in agreement "mhm."

"Well I'm sorry you two, I just assumed." Paul nodded at us.

And that was basically how the night went, but with more interruptions from Danny. Then the time came when it was time for me to leave.

"Annabeth dear, can you help me put Danny to bed?"

Oh crap, now we had to talk.

Once she had put Danny down she looked at me.

"When?"

"Never."

She looked sad, "You can trust him."

"Sally you are quite aware what happened last time."

"Percy isn't Luke!"

I felt tears prick in the back of my eyes, and my arm unconsciously wrapped around my waist. "Please don't say his name."

"Annabeth . . ."

"I'm sorry Sally. Trusting anyone after him, well, it's not gonna be anytime soon. It has nothing to do with Percy, I know that, just past experiences."

"Ok. Have a good night."

Piper P.O.V

(Earlier that day)

"Mom!" I squealed excitedly, running to hug her. I got to see her at other times during the year but in the past year I hadn't seen much of her. She and my dad had gotten together again this last year, but I knew it wouldn't last long, it never does.

"Hi Piper sweetie, how are you doing?" She embraced me, smelling strongly of perfume.

"Good, I brought a guest that Memaw will just adore." I laughed to myself.

"Is it Annabeth dear?" She looked over my shoulder.

"Better," I smiled mischievously. She raised her eyebrows.

I went to the car and took Charlie out if his seat.

I heard my mother gasp.

"Are Selena and Lacy here?"

"Don't forget about Drew sweetheart"

"Ugh" Drew was the worst of my half siblings, she was bitchy and mean, the only thing she had going for her is that she stood up for Annabeth last year at thanksgiving. I have no idea why but she was pretty intense about it. I hurried inside and went upstairs to the kids lounge so I wouldn't have to talk to any of my obnoxious relatives.

"Annabeth!" I heard an excited squeal that must of come from Lacy.

"Hey." I called stepping into view.

"Oh my Gods!" Lacy squealed at Charlie, "Aren't you just the cutest! Can I hold him, pleaseeeee!" She used her puppy dog eyes on me, not that she needed them, I was going to let her hold him anyway.

"Sup Piper." Mitchell greeted from the couch, trying to be cool.

"Drop the act Mitch and come give your sister a hug!" I held my arms out, and sure enough he grinned and headed over to give me a big hug.

"I missed you." I said tussling his brown hair. Mitch was just a year younger than me, I would have to pester him about colleges later.

"What's his name?" Lacy asked tickling Charlie with her nose, he adored Lacy, first impressions are everything with that child.

"Charlie."

They all looked at me, "Like Silena's Charlie?" asked Mitch. I nodded. "Does Silena know?" Lacy asked.

"Uhh . . ." I had no idea if Annabeth had told Silena that she had named her child after her dead fiance.

"Piper!" Lacy scolded, "How can you name your child that without consulting Silena?"

"What? He's not mine!"

"Oh, whose is he then?" Mitch asked, last thanksgiving it had only been Drew and I as kids from our mother, they wouldn't have known Annabeth had a child, and I didn't inform people of this without her consent, but I think she would be ok with this, I trust my siblings.

"Annabeth's."

Lacy gasped, they had all meet Annabeth on other occasions and Annabeth does not seem like the type to be a teen mom.

"Why is he here then?" Mitch raised an eyebrow. "Memaw's gonna flip."

"You should have seen her last year - I couldn't get her to shut up. She kept calling Annabeth all these horrible names." I shook my head.

"So if Annabeth isn't here why make Memaw angry?" Mitch's eyes were wide.

All of us hated Memaw, she made us feel worthless and she was racist, sexist, homophobic and everything else you can think of; but Mitch was afraid of her. One thanksgiving he refused to come down to dinner.

"Because she made Annabeth feel like shit last year and now I'm getting revenge." I said firmly to him.

"So, what's the plan?" A voice said from the door way.

"Silena!" I rushed up to hug her. "Have you been listening the whole time!"

"Well . . ." She nodded and grinned.

I laughed "So that's a yes?"

"Well . . . I planed on telling her I adopted him."

Silena nodded, "Yeah that's good I guess. but it could be better! Don't tell us though I want to be surprised." she winked at me.

Silena was the oldest out of all of us, (27 ish I think) she was a top designer and worked designing our moms clothes sometimes. She had married two years ago to a mechanic named Charles. But he was working on a boat when one of his co-workers did something (It was explained to me but I don't remember the details exactly) and the part of the boat he was working in exploded.

"I think I have a great idea." I smiled, this was going to be the best thanksgiving ever.

Later during dinner.

"What the hell is that whores' baby doing here?" Memaw sneered at Charlie.

"Actually he is my baby too." I replied, setting the plan in motion.

"What the bloody hell Piper?! You're going to ruin your future having a baby. No man wants a woman with a child leave the stupid slut to deal with her own problems." She snapped at me.

I bristled with anger, but if I yelled at her then I would get sent from the table. Luckily I didn't have to.

"Oh my god Memaw, how do you even know that it was her choice? Maybe it wasn't! It was probably because fucking "pro-lifers" like you prevented her from getting an abortion so leave her the fuck alone." Drew practically screamed at Memaw. These are the times I loved Drew and was proud to be her sister. I sent her a grateful look that said 'watch this'.

Memaw was still speechless from Drews' rant and so I figured this was the perfect time.

"I don't care if no man will want me, because I don't want no man. Annabeth and I are getting married and we're raise Charlie." I said and fed Charlie another spoonful of mash potatoes.

Memaws eyes filled with rage, " YOU ARE GOING TO HELL BOTH OF YOU! HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN! A SIN I TELL YOU! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!"

With that I was about done with her but someone else was too.

"You know what Memaw?! I'm done with your fucking shit. Stop being homophobic and shaming Annabeth for something she probably didn't consent to. And even if she did it's still none of your fucking business! If you are kicking Piper out you'll have to kick me out to because I'm bisexual!" At this point Drews eyes were filled with tears.

"Come on Piper! Screw this dump I'll drive you home." She choked back tears and picked Charlie out of his high chair. I followed her out the door, slamming it shut behind me.
