I don't own Vampire Academy or Vampire Diaries

Chapter 16

After finding out that they had awakened a vampire hunter, Alberta called Kirova to allow us to go back to St. Vladimir's.

Unfortunately for us, Kirova said we couldn't return until the queen said we could.

So the guardians decided to take us to another town until the situation was fixed. They even said we had to take Henrik with us, which he didn't seem to mind as he stuck mostly with Dimitri as they were old friends.

Upon our return, however long later – I honestly didn't pay any attention to time passing, I just wanted my best friend back – we found out that Klaus had killed Mikael, Stefan had stolen some coffins from Klaus and now Klaus was terrorising the town to get them back.

We found out where Klaus lived and were on our way to get some answers. Dimitri stayed with Henrik, who still didn't want anyone to know he was alive.

"Nice house," Christian said as we got out of the SUV.

"It's even bigger than mine," Jessie said in awe.

I didn't want to hear anything else that was said about the house. I stomped up to the door and banged on it non-stop.

The door flew open to reveal Klaus behind it. His eyebrows rose as he saw us standing there. "And what brings you to my home?" he asked. "I haven't seen you in Mystic Falls for a while."

"We're here to get answers," I said barging past him into the house. I froze at what I saw in the parlour. Just standing there on wheels were five coffins.

"If you haven't noticed, I was in the middle of moving some furniture," Klaus said from behind me. A guy came out of another room, grabbed one of the coffins and pushed it, following Klaus into another room.

We followed and watched as the coffins were wheeled in one by one. I was about to say something as the last coffin was brought in but the guy pushing the coffins into the room spoke first.

"You've got your family back finally," he said. Klaus turned around and silence fell upon the room. "You gonna open them?"

Klaus paused. "Not quite yet," he said before walking out of the room. "I still have some unfinished business to take care of."

"What business?"

Klaus turned in time to see the other guy grunt and his face contort in pain. The guy fell to the ground and Elijah was standing there holding a heart in his hand.

"Son Niklaus," Elijah said.

"Elijah," Klaus said.

Elijah walked forward and dropped the heart next to the body on the ground. "What did I miss?" he asked before pausing and wiping the blood off his hand. "You look surprised to see me. So it wasn't you who removed the dagger from my chest."

"You look like you could use a drink," Klaus said. "And we have a lot to discuss, so shall we?"

Klaus moved to the side to get a drink. When his attention had moved, Elijah threw down the bloody cloth he was holding, punched Klaus and threw him through the glass near where we standing causing us to move fast to get out of the way.

"Easy," Klaus growled. "I just finished renovating."

Klaus moved at Elijah with great speed and the two fought too fast for any of us to see before Elijah smashed through the top of a table and Klaus stood above him.

"You know, you have every right to be mad at me," Klaus said. "But I kept my word. I reunited you with our family."

Elijah moved too fast again before the fighting continued into the room with the coffins. Klaus opened one of the coffins and pulled something out of it. He pushed Elijah against another coffin while holding up what he pulled out of the open one. A dagger like the one he threatened Rose with.

"Don't make me do this to you again, Elijah," Klaus said in a raised voice.

"Come on, use it," Elijah said. "I dare you. You'll have Rose to deal with."

My eyes widened at those word. I took a cautious step toward the door and peered into the coffin. Sure enough, there looking like she did when Klaus took her – grey and ashen – was Rose.

I looked back at Klaus and Elijah to see Klaus lowering the dagger. "Mikael is dead," he said.

Elijah stood up straight. "What did you say?" he asked shocked.

"I killed him with his own weapon. He's gone, Elijah, forever."

"Why do our family remain in these coffins? Finn for nine hundred years. Kol for over a century."

"Because of Stefan Salvatore," Klaus said like it was the most obvious thing. "He holds the one thing keeping me from freeing them." He paused. "There are things you do not know about our past, Elijah. Our mother's death, things I never wanted you to know. But I'm ready to tell you now." He moved away from Elijah. "I only ask that you remember the oath of loyalty you once swore to me."

He dipped the dagger into a chalice looking thing before walking towards the coffin.

"What are you doing?" Elijah whispered so softly that I almost didn't hear it.

Klaus pushed the dagger back into Rose's chest before leaning on her coffin. "Always and forever," he said. He stepped in front of Elijah. "I need you to stand by my side. Be my brother. Help me destroy Stefan and I you our family will be whole again." With that said he closed Rose's coffin.

"What about us?" I demanded.

Klaus and Elijah turned to look at us. "What about you?" Klaus asked.

"We would like to know what you have done with our friend Rose," Jessie said shocking the rest of us. "I know she's in that coffin but why does she look like that?"

He has never seen her as a friend, I thought. So why now?

"You will get your answers in time." Klaus walked towards us. "For now I need to speak with my brother. But you are free to wander the house until I have time to talk to you." He walked past us with Elijah following. He got to the smashed door before turning towards us. "I only ask that you stay away from the coffins."

Sorry for the time skip. I did not feel like adding in the drama with Rebekah and Mikael.
