"So… are either of you planning on going home soon?"Kaoru sat there looking at the clock. It was after 1 am and no one seemed to be willing to talk. Kyoya sat to his left with Fumie now sleeping in his arms, Tamaki was on his right obviously not very pleased with the scene, and Hikaru was still ignoring him, hiding somewhere in the house.
"I'll be leaving when Otoori returns my daughter"Tamaki crossed his arms and leaned back into the seat. He had come with Hikaru to simply see his daughter, but now after seeing how attached she had become to Kyoya, he didn't want to just leave her with him.
"Fumie is legally my daughter now Tamaki, I highly suggest you stop your delusions"Kyoya placed Fumie down into the small crib that had been brought out for her. Fumie now laid there sleeping peacefully, happy that Kyoya had come back to get her.
"…So where's Haruhi?"Kaoru didn't know what to do now, he was there stuck between some horrible mess that had ruined a friendship and destroyed a family. An without Hikaru around it was hard to really talk to someone about all this.
"Sleep at home, she's very tired"Kyoya didn't have to explain himself anymore, he knew Tamaki was getting the point and Kaoru already was well aware of why Haruhi wasn't there, but he was trying to make light conversation.
They all sat there in silence, on the sound of Fumies little mumbles every now and then echoed.
"Hikaru?"Kaoru looked over to the main door way to see Hikaru had finally come out of hiding and was gripping something tightly in his hand. He walked over to Kyoya and for a moment it looked like he was going to throw a punch, but instead he placed the paper down on the table. It was the note Tamaki had given them.
"You should read that"Hikaru moved over to Kaoru and sat beside him, but he didn't look at his brother. Hikaru knew what he had done was wrong, and now he couldn't even ask for his brother to forgive him. Everyone looked towards Kyoya as he picked up the letter and held it up to read.
'Dearest Haruhi, My love,my everything. I know of what you have done, and I can't say I blame you. But my heart is breaking and I can't stand it any longer. I've met this women here in Europe, I'll stay here and start a new life, and you may do as you please with yours. I apologize my princess but I could not raise a child that is not mine, and I can feel my own sanity slipping away. I don't know what to do. I love you. I love you enough to let you be happy, and I don't know what else to say, my words are all mixed together like some type of horrible twister, sucking up everything and not giving out a clear answer. I don't know what to do with myself now as I lay here beside this women, she is nothing like you. But I can convince myself that my love for her is true. I'm going crazy Haruhi. My Haruhi. I don't want to let you go, but I can't go on living like this'Kyoya read the letter, contemplating everything that Tamaki had shakily written down. As he looked up all eyes were on him, waiting for an answer.
"So Tamaki, you left Haruhi, fell into a massive delusion, and all of this occurred because you believed that the child Haruhi was carrying wasn't your own?"Kyoya placed the letter down and took a breath, unable to really even begin to understand the depth of Tamakis stupidity
"I know it wasn't mine Otoori! Don't give me your crap! You slept with her that weekend I asked you to stay with her because I missed my flight! Haruhi always made me wear a condom!"Tamaki stood up and clenched his fists. He could feel everything now, his cloud of delusion fading away as he was faced with the horrible truth of it all.
"Wow too much information there boss"Kaoru coughed a bit, not really wanting to hear the details of Fumies conception
"How stupid can one person really be"Kyoya sat there looking up at Tamaki, his blue eyes where a mix of deep hatred and resentment, but there was a touch of heart ache. Kyoya held the letter in his hands and crumpled it, tossing it to the ground.
"Answer me this Tamaki, do you really believe Haruhi, the worst possible liar we've ever known, could hide something like that from you?"Kyoya walked over to him, stepped around the twins who had now become engrossed in the conversation.
"Well..I… she did become a lawyer…"Tamaki blinked and his eyes were now nothing but confused, self-doubtful and nervous. Had be made a mistake back then?
"So you didn't sleep with her?"Hikaru wanted to know, he had been on Tamakis side this whole time because well… he had been angry with Kyoya and more important he thought that if what Tamaki said was true, he was justified.
"I didn't touch her once"Kyoya stood there next to his ex-best friend. He watched as the fact sunk into Tamaki, the mortified look on his face.
"So I…all this time, what have I done…..I ruined my family"Tamaki slumped down into his chair, his eyes looking over at the crib. Fumie had been his, but maybe he already knew what, maybe he just didn't want to be a father and needed a way out, maybe… but he didn't really know.
Moments passed as no one spoke, the story had finally come together. Tamaki was.. delusional, and that was the bottom line. He had forced himself to believe he loved Kimi, left Haruhi then wanted her back because deep down somewhere he knew Fumie really was his daughter, and he was just scared to be a father.
"I'll be taking Fumie home now"Kyoya brushed past Tamaki and picked Fumie up from her crib. She was still resting peacefully in his arms. Kaoru and Hikaru sat there, confused and unsure of what to do now. Tamaki sat there also, but slumped in his chair looking like he had just died.
"When Fumie grows up, she'll want to know who her real father is"Kaoru blurted out as Kyoya was about to leave. Kaoru wasn't about to pick a side, in a way they had both been wrong, and all that mattered was Fumie being happy.
"A father is someone who loves her unconditionally, takes the responsibility to always be there, and is there to support any choices she makes, I am her real father"Kyoya didn't bother to wait for a response as he left. Leaving Tamaki and the twins there together, sitting in silence. As Tamaki sat up in his chair and covered his eyes, he let out a sign and whispered.
"I shoulda..stayed in my delusion"
End
