Chapter 12
Faith Nicole Cameron was by far the cutest baby I'd ever seen. Kid took forever to be born though.
"Seth," I said sleepily, "Can you drive me home now?" Becca had left about an hour earlier and I had a feeling Sienna was going to be getting a ride home from Brady.
Seth handed Faith back to Jared and walked over to me, "Sure," he said. I was so tired Seth had to practically carry me to the car. I'm never going to have kids. I could hear Kim screaming for seven hours straight. Does not sound like fun.
"We're here," Seth said.
"I'm asleep," I told him and Seth laughed, "Carry me in." I heard the car door open and then I heard mine open.
"You're such a baby," he said, picking me up.
"I'd respond to that, but I'm asleep," I muttered.
I heard him open the door, "You're carrying her? We seriously just got dad to stop doing that!" I heard Becca yell.
"Stop yelling Becks, you're going to wake me up!"
I heard her snort, but I still didn't open my eyes. Seth carried me up the stairs and set me down on my bed. "Goodnight Riley," he said.
I smiled, "Goodnight Sethy." Seth laughed and I heard him walk away. You know how when you're really tired, but you can't fall asleep? That's how I felt. I tried counting sheep but that did virtually nothing. So I decided that if I was going to be awake I might as well do something entertaining. I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV.
BREAKING NEWS
I was just about to turn the channel when a face flashed on the screen. A face that, even though it's been years, I instantly recognized.
"William Bellview was caught robbing a liquor store early this morning. When the police ran his fingerprints through the system they didn't expect to solve a case that they had given up hope on years ago. Nearly twelve years ago seven girls' five year old girls, all daughters of celebrities, were kidnapped, tortured, and held for ransom. Three of the girls; Brittany Harper, Kiki Holmes, and Janae Keller were found dead at the scene with a note saying their parents didn't pay the ransom quick enough. The other four; Macie Carper, Connie Yates, Jasmine Brook, and Riley Ace were found in bad condition, but thankfully alive. Bellview is going to plead guilty. When asked why he did it he promptly said it was because he was bored and low on cash. Bellview committed the crimes along with his girlfriend Maggie Gate-" a picture of my nanny Hannah with brown hair flashed on the screen, "Maggie would pose as a nanny and bring the girls to a park where Bellview would hide in the bushes and wait for the girls to come by. Bellview would then call the girls names and when they got near he would chloroform them and take them to a warehouse or a basement. There Bellview tortured the girls for months," The reporter said staring at the camera with dead eyes.
Pictures started flashing onto the screen. A little girl with short blonde hair. Macie Carper. A little girl with bright red hair tied into two braids. Jasmine Brook. A little girl with long, wavy brown hair. Riley Ace. A little girl with brown ringlets. Connie Yates. A little girl with long blonde hair. Brittany Harper. A little girl with short black hair. Kiki Holmes. A little girl with her blonde hair in pigtails. Janae Keller.
"Bellview is in court as we speak. Although no final judgment has been made as of now, it is most likely he will be getting the death sentence. Bellview stated that he has no idea where Gate is and police are looking into it…"
The picture of William Bellview flashed onto the screen, but this time it stayed longer. He didn't look like how I remembered him. He used to be so… but now he looked kind of well, he looked kind of beautiful. And his eyes. I remembered them being blue. Very, very blue. Now they were a kind of golden brown. And the way he was looking at the camera; he was grinning with a wicked look in his eyes. As if he had wanted to be caught. As if he expected it. The phone rang and rang, but I didn't pick it up. Finally it stopped ringing, but then it started up again. It went on like that for a while until I finally picked it up.
"Hello?" I asked
"Riley? It's Sienna. I'm at the diner and I just saw the news. Oh my god! You must be so happy! We should do something, we should celebrate!" she yelled.
"Yeah, yeah I am. We should do something. Yeah, we should. But uh, I'm kind of tired right now so could you call me back later?"
"Sure! I just can't believe it. Wait till Seth hears. And Becca? I wonder what your parents will say!"
"Yeah, yeah. Listen, I'm really tired so I'll call you back in a bit. Okay?" I said wearily,
"Oh yeah. Sorry! See yah later," she squealed.
"Yeah. See you later," I said and the phone went dead.
I should've been like Sienna. I should have been jumping for joy and screaming and acting like the happiest person in the world. But I couldn't. Because I wasn't. I'd been happy just a couple hours ago when I was holding Faith. I was happy when Seth was carrying me up the stairs. I was happy when I turned on the TV. But for some reason, and I had no idea why, I wasn't. I wasn't happy at all.
All I felt was a wave on unexplainable sadness.
SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT! What do you think of this chapter? I know it's short, and I'm really sorry about that. Can anyone guess what's happening or what's going to happen? Review! Review! Review! When I get to 105 reviews I'll update. By the way Riley is only going to have around 15 chapters.
