Chapter 60

Rogue VS Gajeel

Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail or its characters, only my own OC's, Energy Magic and my Ideas

Frea POV

Gajeel was getting beaten to a pulp, Literally.

He had been since Rogue had begun to act weird, since his Magic Power had increased exponentially, and the black markings had appeared all over his body. It didn't even seem possible at the moment, how in the hell could Rogue had changed so fast? He had seemed like he was about to surrender before he started going after Gajeel...

That was the issue, most people couldn't tell, but there was a darker presence inside the Shadow Dragon Slayer now. A dark, evil presence, and it put Frea on edge.

Every time Rogue spoke, it wasn't his voice, not entirely and it hurt her sensitive ears due to its high-pitched hissing sound. Both Rified and Moon's eyes were fixed on the screens as they watched Gajeel be brutally attacked without mercy.

Frea leaned against the railing with her hands, eyes narrowed and a bead of sweat rolling down her face. It wasn't that she didn't have any faith in Gajeel's abilities, hell, she expected him to win, but the way things were going now...

Grr... Damn it!

It was pissing her off actually, and it was worrying her. Whatever had attached itself to Rogue, it wasn't just evil, no there was something else;

It felt like Zeref's Magic.

Is this what Jellal and his friends have been feeling for years?

She couldn't help but ask the question, it did feel like Zeref's Magic, but she knew the answer to what they had been feeling must have been Eclipse. But then why had she sensed the same Magic on that figure in the crowds the other day? And now here, with this dark entity that's possessing Rogue?

So many questions... There was just too many damn questions! Couldn't things just make sense for once? Couldn't anything ever be simple?

Frea let her eyes close as her head hung a little, hell... Nothing was ever simple, not in her life, not in the Guilds... Nothing's ever simple around us...

But I'm missing something... I know it... But what..?

She scrunched her eyes closed at the thought, it was aggravating. There was definitely something she wasn't understanding here, and she really did not like not knowing what was really going on. Sort of a flaw with Energy Mages, always being able to get a good understanding of a person or situation most of the time, leaves you to hate the feeling of not understanding anything like this when the situation arises.

She opened her eyes to rest them on the screen again, before deciding she had only one choice at the moment. Without a word, she jumped over the railing and swung her legs around so she landed on top of the cold stone, her feet hanging over the crowds a ways down below as she balanced on the railing, wincing soon after at the sudden movement.

Both Moon and Rified looked her way in surprise, but she wasn't paying attention to them, she was focused on only one thing right now. She clasped her hands together in front of her and pressed her chin into them, closing her eyes.

"Energy Sense." She muttered under her breath. Rogue and Gajeel weren't in the Arena, they were in the city. But the fact that she could feel the Energy Signature of that dark entity with as being as far away from it as she was right now, told her that it was extremely powerful. But just feeling it wasn't enough, it was far, and wanting to get a better picture of what it was exactly, was going to be a little difficult.

Alright... Lets see...

Rified POV

Soft waves of transparent silver Magic began to spiral up around her body, and self-consciously Rified took a step away from her. He sweatdropped a little,

'Why so nervous all of a sudden?'

He blinked in surprise as the voice rang through his head, and his eyes switched from Frea to Moon, he having recognized the voice as the Exceed's.

'You got so tense when Frea started using her Magic.' Moon pointed out as she glanced his way, and Rified gave her a sheepish smile.

'You blame me?' He answered her telepathically. 'Last time I saw her Magic in person, she did one hell of a number on me.'

Moon smirked, 'From what I saw, Laxus beat you up more than Frea did.' The Exceed pointed out and he nodded a little.

'True.' He replied, 'But she sure is one scary chick.' He told her with a smile and Moon smiled back.

'She is.'

Frea POV

Frea pushed her senses to go farther an farther until she could lock on to the Energy Signature of what ever was possessing Rogue. It was hard, they weren't close, but she was finally able to and she sweatdropped at what she found.

Traces of Zeref's Magic lingered on what it was, but it wasn't the same Energy Signature she had felt before. This wasn't the same thing, it was human, that's what surprised her the most, but then her body tensed up again.

It was Rogue

There was no doubt about it, and at first she thought she might be crazy. Lets face it, how in the hell how could there be two Rogues? It was impossible yet, it wasn't. She wasn't one to make a mistake like this, and even though the Energy Signature of this Rogue was a little different, it was still basically the same.

What in the hell is going on?! There's two Rogues? I'm not crazy... Wait, are there two Energy Signatures in the city similar to Zeref's then?!

There had to be, she was very sure this was not what she had felt from the hooded figure in the crowds before, so then there had to be two of them...

This does not look good...

Frea let her hands fall into her lap as she let her spell drop, and she let out a long breath, panting slightly. She still wasn't up to full power yet since yesterday...

After a moment she opened her eyes to look at the Screens again, she was hoping Gajeel could recover from this, and soon...

No One POV

Rogue as Gajeel's fight came to a stop as Rogue lifted Gajeel up with one hand wrapped around the Iron Dragon Slayer's throat. Gajeel wasn't making any attempt to get out of the grasp, he was too hurt, to beaten.

Rogue smirked, "You are weaker than Natsu Dragneel..." He growled, his grip on Gajeel's throat growing tighter, and the Iron Dragon hissed in pain.

"Stop! Your killing him!" Levy yelled out at the screens, small arms pulled to her chest as she watched the fight with wide worried eyes.

All of Fairy Tail was watching the confrontation with wide eyes, they couldn't believe that Gajeel was getting beaten like this. Chase watched the fight with narrowed eyes along with Jynx, Makarov and Mavis, they all knew something evil had jumped into the fight between the two Dragon Slayers.

Black shadows crept their way around Gajeel from Rogue's hand, and the SaberTooth Man dropped the Fairy Tail Mage, so he hit the floor and began to be consumed by the shadows already on him, and the ones that were swarming over the ground to cover him.

"The shadow will consume you," Rogue murmured, "Let it, sleep in the darkness.." He said the words softly as the shadows began to engulf Gajeel even more.

"Tch... If Salamander can do it... So can I..."

Rogue blinked in surprise as he heard Gajeel mutter the words under his breath, and he took a step back in utter shock as the most unexpected thing happened.

Gajeel began to eat Rogue's shadows

Frea POV

Frea's eyes widened as she watched the fight, she couldn't believe it...

He's crazy...

Who in the hell, in their right mind would ever even consider eating shadows? She had to admit, it was risky, but Gajeel really didn't have a lot of options at the moment... She shook her head a little and sweatdropped, frowning and letting her eyes close.

Damn... It made her stomach turn at the thought of even tasting Rogue's Magic. It couldn't taste good, could it?

It was really stupid to be wondering about something like that right now, but she couldn't help it. Rogue's shadows did not look appetizing in the slightest, she herself would never have even considered the idea of eating them.

Aside from how the shadows would taste, it was never really a good a idea for any Dragon Slayer to eat anything that wasn't their Element.

Frea could eat several without having to worry about getting sick, but only because Chaitanya had made sure to have her get used to having a few other elements as food when she was younger.

Flashback-

"You want me to what?" Frea looked up at the tall pale Dragon standing before her, eyebrow quirked as she tried to process what Chaitanya had told her to do.

It was probably the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard her Foster Mother say, and there were more than a few ridiculous things Chaitnaya had told her.

Chaitanya just looked back at her calmly, and Frea narrowed her eyes. "You heard me." Chaitanya replied cooly and Frea frowned at the answer. "I want you to build up a tolerance to eating other Elements."

Frea still couldn't believe the words had come from Chaitanya's mouth. Eating other elements? Building up a tolerance to them?

Frea was young, but she wasn't stupid, she knew Chaitnaya had a reason for making this decision for her. She sort of understood why it made sense, but it didn't make it any easier to believe that she may actually be able to do it.

Seriously, how in the hell was she supposed to eat other Elements? Was she supposed to go around, eating plants and rocks?

Frea grimaced at the thought, she wasn't so sure this was a good idea...

Chaitanya took notice of the disgusted look that had come across the young girl's face, and she couldn't help but smirk a little. The Dragon knew that this sounded absolutely ridiculous to the young Dragon Slayer, but it was something that had to be done.

They both knew it, Chaintanya was Frea's only chance of eating pure Energy Magic, and however much the young girl would want to, Frea couldn't always depend on Chaitanya for that chance, especially if the young girl found herself in a tight situation.

Frea looked away from her Foster Mother moodily and crossed her arms over her chest, it really did seem impossible to her, but she had always trusted Chaitanya on things like this...

"How is this gonna work?" She asked, deliberately not looking at the Dragon as she said it.

"As you already know," Chaitnaya started, "Many things in this world have Energy, you can feel it around you, sense it in the air, the trees, the ground." Chaitanya shifted into a more comfortable position as she leaned her head down toward Frea a little more. "With this in mind, you will be able to eat the Energy connected to different elements as an Energy Dragon Slayer."

Frea glanced back at Chaitnaya, eyebrow quirking. "You sure that's gonna work? Eating other things like... Like what exactly?"

Chaintanya glanced away from the young girl for a moment, not looking to thrilled with answering the question, but the look only made Frea more curious.

"What I'm going to be eating?" Frea pressed.

Chaitanya let out a low sigh, the Dragon's warm breath blowing into her face softly as her deep purple eyes closed for a minute.

"We're starting with something easy," Chaintanya murmured and her tail swept over the ground, and Frea's eyes switched toward the glowing sphere of Flame wrapped up in Chaitanya's tail delicately.

It was odd, a bright strong flame was hovering inside a sphere of Chaitanya's white Energy Magic, with lavender color around the edges of the Energy Magic Sphere, keeping the flame trapped away inside.

"An old friend of mine let me have this." Chaintanya explained. "It took a bit of persuasion, he is rather proud... Well, more arrogant." Chaitnaya sighed again. "..Spouted something about no one being able to handle a flame such as his..." Chaitanya murmured almost to herself and shook her head at the thought, "I don't have any trouble holding his Magic though." The Dragon smirked a little, curled fangs appearing under her lips as she thought about this 'friend' of hers.

Frea tilted her head a little at what her Foster Mother had said, "Is he another Dragon?" She asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.

Chaitanya nodded a little, "Yes, he is." She replied. "But back to business," Chaitanya nodded her head at the flame surrounded in her Magic. "Your going to start with eating Fire, and building up a tolerance to it, before we move on to other Elements."

Frea blinked a little after the memory invaded her thoughts for a moment or two. Learning to eat other Elements had been interesting, and it had taken her awhile to build up a Tolerance to the ones she could now eat today, without the fear of getting sick.

The way she had adapted to eating other Elements wouldn't work for other Dragon Slayers though. She was flexible with other Magic due to the Nature of her Magic, honestly, everything was really just Energy in some sort of form.

Gajeel slowly got to his feet, he had consumed the shadows and now they were flowing around him wildly. "Lets get one thing straight..." He huffed, and his skin turned to hard Iron, his head hanging as he stood all the way up.

"I know for a fact that you never looked up to me..." Gajeel growled and looked up, a twisted grin spreading across his face, fangs in full view. Around him shadows were streaming up around him as he radiated power, "You feared me. And now I will remind you of that fear."

It seemed like the entire arena had gone deathly quiet as they fell into tense silence, no one had ever seen someone like that before. Gajeel didn't look like himself anymore, he looked like some sort of monster... Frea smirked a little,

This is Gajeel's full power... A fusion of Iron and Shadow...

Rogue took another step back, a bit daunted by the look that Gajeel was giving him, it was a look that would unnerve anyone.

He really does look like a monster now... Though he always sort of looked like one I suppose...

She smiled a little more at the thought, show him what your made of, Iron Head...

In an instant, the battle had started again with both of the men going at each other with amazing force. Even though Rogue had, had the upper hand before, he was losing now.

By the end of it, Rogue fell, but not before he muttered a few words. "Tch... So this is Rogue's current limit..." Frea narrowed her eyes at the fight, before it felt like a great weight had been lifted off her shoulders, and she felt the Evil Energy Signature of the 'other' Rogue leave the area.

She let out a low sigh, a bit relieved that it had gone. Her head was spinning with questions, all of them she wanted answered, but she had a feeling not all of them would be answered by the end of all of this.

But then, she had a feeling that something worse was coming, and she knew for certain, that whatever may happen, the trouble was not over yet...

"Damn." Rified murmured as Frea glanced his way. His eyes were fixed on the screens, and she couldn't help but notice that look of approval on his face. "He's strong," the man murmured and Frea nodded, looking away and smiling a little.

"Everyone in Fairy Tail is."
