Chapter 6: The Final Battle
-Flashback-
It has been months since Haku has joined up with the rebelion. His first mission was to intercept a shipment of weapons to a Mist Loyalist's camp, and bring the weapons back to the Rebel camp. Unforturnately, the wagon carrying the weapons was a trap. Pakura, Haku's partner, was injured by a large man by the name of Matsuro Mizumori.
Pakura had healed up, and had continued to go on missions with Haku. The two had proven to be a capable team, which is why they were being briefed for their final mission by Mei Terumi.
"Do you understand your misson, you two?" Mei asked. Mei, Haku and Pakura were gathered around, with two others, a large tabe with a map of the Hidden Mist Village. But the map contained mor than just the streets of the village. It contained marking of entrances, exits and passageways to the underground tunnels located throughout the village.
"Yes ma'am!" Everyone replied.
"Good. Tomorrow, will be the last day that the 4th Mizukage draws breath. Even if it costs us our lives, he must die." Mei said, with enthusiasm.
"Understood!" Replied the others, with just as much enthusiasm as Mei.
"Very well. Then get a good few hours of sleep. We begin our attack at dawn." Ordered Mei.
"Yes ma'am!"
-Mist Village (Night)-
The 4th Mizukage was in the council room with his highest and most trusted shinobi. Among them was Matsuro Mizumori. Matsuro Mizumori had a small round scar on either side of the bridge of his nose, and he wore an eye patch over his right eye. The other ninja in the room kept their distance from the man, because he looked like he was going to kill the first person who got near him.
"When do they plan to attack, Lord Mizukage?" Asked a man with with blue hair and sealing tags for earrings. Like Matsuro, this man also had an eye patch over his right eye.
"They plan to attack at dawn, Ao." The Mizukage began. "We will let them enter the village in order to get their hopes up. And then we will destroy them with an all out counter-attack."
"I see." Ao replied.
"I can't wait to get my hands on those bastards, who took my eye. They'll pay for everything they've done." Said Matsuro, with a psychotic look on his face.
-Mist Village (an hour after dawn)-
The Mist Village was currently engaged in an all out war within their own walls. They were prepared for this attack, and had evacuated the village of civilians, yet they still got caught with their pants down, metaphorically speaking. While the initial attack had in fact started at dawn, Mei had sent specially trained assassins take out any and all guards on the Village wall, an hour before the attack.
Buildings were being destroyed left and right, a few had actually been turned to rubble, while others slowly began burning to the ground. Lives were being lost on both sides, more so from the Mist Loyalists side than the Rebels. The Rebels had the advantage of various Kekkei Genkais, as well as refined teamwork. Where as the Loyalists only had some experience against Kekkai Genkais, but also lacked training in teamwork. Not only that, but there were more traitors in the Mist Village's forces than anyone thought. About one tenth of the 'Loyalists' were Rebel spies.
The rebels had come from the tunnels underneath the village, effectively managing to catch them by surprise. They only reason they could've managed this kind of attack was because the inside men and women were very caeful to keep those tunnels hidden. Anyone, who discovered them, that wasn't a rebel spy, were disposed of.
-With Mei's squad-
Mei's squad consisted of herself and the other four that were in last night's meeting, including of course Haku and Pakura. Their mission was to make their way to the Mizukage, and elimenate any enemy that got in their way. Numerous squads had tried to stop them but, all were cut down, scortched or even frozen where they stood. Only Mei hadn't attacked, she wished to save her strength for the final showdown.
They came to a sudden stop. Before them stood the strongest Mist Shinobi, that wasn't the Mizukage himself, Matsuro Mizumori. "I was wondering when you'd finally showed up. YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO MY BROTHER!" Matsuro yelled. Despite his anger, he didn't attack. He knew that one of those four were with Pakura that day. Although it pained him, he had to wait for that person to strike. He was told that Mei would want to save her strength, and that he should let her pass and kill the others.
"Haku, Pakura. You'll have to handle him. Do not underestimate him. And make sure you kill him. Whatever it takes. Is that clear?" Mei asked. She had already spoke with them about this the night before. But she wanted to get her point across.
Steping forward, Haku and Pakura replied simultaneously. "Yes, ma'am!"
With that, Mei and her other two guards lept to the side. "Oh no you don't!" Said Matsuro, as he lept after the two guards. He almost made it to them when he was suddenly stop by a pair of senbon that flew directly in front of him. Landing on a nearby building, he looked to where the senbon came from. He saw Haku with an out stretched hand. "So, it was you who killed my brother?"
Pullin out another pair of senbon and getting into his stance, Haku answered. "Yes, I did. And just so you know in advance, I'm a boy. Not a girl."
"Hmpf. Doesn't matter to me, I'll kill you both either way." Said Matsuro. Staring at the face of his brother's killer, he knew he would be disobeying his leader's orders, but her didn't care. He just wanted to kill these two in front of him right now. He'd make up for it later, by joining the Mizukage in battle. If the battle wasn't already over before then.
Haku and Pakura were both in their respective stances, waiting for Matsuro to initiate the first attack.
Mist Loyalist knew better than to interfere with Matsuro's battles, especialy when he's in a bad mood. At Matsuro's yell, the area was cleared by any nearby Mist shinobi, even the rebels followed. No one was foolish enough to be anywhere near the battle field. And honestly, Haku and Pakura prefered it this way. Because then they wouldn't have to worry about hidden attacks.
"Waiting for me to make the first move, is a huge mistake. I can take you out in one attack." Said Matsuro, standing and filled with confidence.
"Is that so? Then try it, you over sized piece of shit!" Said Pakura, still angry that he managed to catch her off guard last time.
"Why you BITCH!" Matsuro yelled, as he began forming hand-signs. "Earth-Style: Earth Skewer Jutsu!"Matsuro yelled. The earth began to rumble, then stone spikes began to emerge from the ground at high speeds. Haku and Pakura managed to dodge them easily. They jumped on the building in an attempt to escape Matsuro's jutsu. "That won't help you!" Matsuro yelled, as more earth spike pierced through the roofs of the buildings that they were on. The spikes only managed to rip through their pants, without leaving a scratch on them.
Landing back on the ground, they took a quick glance around and saw that the jutsu had spread about 200 meters, with Matsuro as the epicenter.
"This isn't good. He's got the advantage like this." Haku thought, as he surveyed the area.
"Hey, Haku." Yelled Pakura, gaining Haku's attention. "Our best chance is to change the terrain. So go ahead and do that."
Knowing what she was talking about since he had that same thought process about the terrain. But he had his concerns, which he voiced. "Are you sure? I mean your jutsu will just cancel out my jutsu, and you'll have a difficult time if you don't use your jutsu. Which means I'll be either wasting chakra or you'll having difficulties in the new terrain."
"I Know already! Just do it!" Pakura ordered. Normally she doesn't like to order Haku around, since he has proven to be a usefull partner to her, but in this situation she felt like she didn't have a choice.
"Alright, but it'll take a few minutes. Cover me." Haku replied, as he began making hand signs. "Ice Style: Frozen Tundra Jutsu!"Haku said, holding the final hand sign to his jutsu. As soon as the words came from his mouth the clouds above quickly began to shift, and the wind began to blow as well as snow began to fall rapidly.
Seeing the snow start to fall and feeling the temperature drop dramatically, Matsuro yelled. "You think I'm just gonna stand here and let you change the terrain like this!" Making his own hand signs, Matsuro called out his own jutsu. "Water Style: Explosive Water Shockwave!"
A large wave of water began to emerge from where Matsuro was standing, and just as the his 'Earth Style' had, his the water began to expand in all direction with him as the epicenter. The only difference was, was that he was lifted into the air as the jutsu came out from under him.
Haku and Pakura jumped into the air as the water came towards them, once the worst of it had passed the two had landed on top of the water.
"What a moron." Pakura thought, as the water beneath her feet began to freeze.
The water had stopped spreading shortly after it stopped emerging. Landing atop the water's surface, Matsuro also began to notice that the water quickly began to freeze. "What the hell is going on?" Matsuro asked himself. He soon had his answer as he felt that the temperature was now well below freezing, and that it wasn't just snow that was falling.
Noticing the look on Matsuro's face, Haku spoke. "I see you noticed. It's not just snow that's falling. Ice is falling as well. The temperature is now currently -40 degrees F. Thanks to you, I don't have to use as much chakra to change the terrain. For that, I thank you. But, this will be you down fall." Haku dropped his final hand sign, and pulled out his primary weapon. Senbon.
Matsuro was livid. He had just helped his enemy gain an advantage over him. Taking a deep breath, he surveyed his surroundings. The area in which his water had covered stood higher than everywhere else. From what he could see, the entire Hidden Mist Village seemed to becovered in a half foot of snow. Even the tops of the builings had alot of snow on top of them. Whereas the area that is water cover was about a foot maybe a foot in a half of both snow and ice.
Turning back to his opponents, he realized that 'Water Style' was out of the question. Since it would just freeze instantly anyway 'Earth Style' he could probably pull of, but he wasn't sure if it would penetrate the thick ice. "Well, only one way to find out." Performing hand signs, he called out. "Earth Style: Earth Skewer Jutsu!"
Nothing happened. They could all feel the slight vibrations under the ice, but not even a crack had appeared on the surface.
"Great! Now I can only rely on close quarters combat." Matsuro thought. Looking at his enemy began thinking about who he should take out first. Although it was very difficult to think since it was so cold. The only reason it wasn't effecting him so badly was because he was trying to use his chakra to keep warm. Thinking of which, it looked as though Pakura wasn't affected at all. "Must be using her 'Scorch Style' chakra to keep warm. It has to be taking a lot of chakra. Which means it might be best to take her out first. That way she can't use her jutsu to dry up all the water in my body. Hmm. Maybe I can use her chakra to my advantage."
"We need to take him out quickly, using my chakra to keep warm is taking up alot of my chakra" Pakura thought, as she waited for Matsuto to attack.
"By the way he is looking at Pakura, he may end up attacking her. Which will work to our advantage if he does, since I can over her. And since it'll take hours or even days for the terrain to melt entirely, so I don't need to waste my chakra." Thought Haku, as he prepared himself to defend Pakura as well as himself in case he's wrong.
Making a decision, Matsuro pulled out his spiked club and using his chakra to stick to the ice, he charged towards Pakura.
Pakura stood her ground, waiting for the last second to dodge.
Matsuro closed in on Pakura quickly, bringing his club down with full strength. Pakura dodged easily, causing the club to smash into the ice.
Landing not to far away, Pakura noticed the crater left from the attack. The crater was about a two feet deep an six feet in diameter.
Haku kept his eyes locked on Matsuro. Haku hadn't intervened because he saw that Pakura had been able to keep herself from slipping. He was surprised at the size of the crater that was made from the impact. He knew Matsuro was strong, but something didn't feel right about it. Before he could dwell on it much longer, he noticed that Matsuro had switched targets.
Now charging at Haku with full speed, Matsuro raised his club up high. Seeing the senbon thrown at him, he used his chakra to increase his stopping speed on the ice. As soon as he came to a stop, he jumped into the air.
The fact that he jumped hardly surprised Haku and Pakura, but the direction in which he jumped surprised did. Matsuro didn't jump towards Haku, but instead jumped backwards towards the crater he had just made. Swinging his club down, Matsruto destroyed all the ice within a five foot radius all the way to the ground.
"You didn't think I was just some muscle bound idiot, did you?" Matsuro asked rhetorically, as he stood and pointed his club at Pakura. "I have you to think for this. I noticed that you were using your 'Scorch Style' chakra to keep yourself from being affected by the temperature at all. As a result, I knew that the ice beneath you feet would be melting weakening as well. Now I don't have to rely on just close quarters combat now." Said Matsuro, with a large grin.
Pakura was angry at herself for making a mistake like that, Pakura sped across the ice towards Haku. She slipped once she made it about half way, landing hard on the ice.
Seeing an opportunity, Matsuro began making hand signs. Once finished, he called out his jutsu. "Earth Style: Earth Dragon Jutsu!
A large dragon made from earth shot out of the ground from beneath Matsuro's feet, flying towards Pakura taking large chunks of ice along with it.
Haku seeing Matsuro wielding hand, began wielding his own. "Ice Style: Ice Dragon Jutsu!" Since Haku's jutsu required less hand signs, his jutsu left the ice slightly before Matsuro's dragon jutsu had.
Pakura only heard Matsuro call out a jutsu, so she was surprised when a dragon made from ice clashed with the earth dragon before it reached her position. Coming back to her senses, she quickly got up and made it the rest of the way towards Haku.
"That was too close. Thanks, Haku." Said Pakura, as she now stood next to Haku and turned towards Matsuro.
"No problem." Haku replied, pulling out more senbon.
Before either side could make another attack, the ground trembled breaking any thoughts of strategy they may have been thinking of. The tremor was followed by a large dark red pillar.
-With Mei Terumi-
Mei and her group were almost to the Mizukage tower, when their surroundings turned to snow. "Hmm. Seems like Haku has gotten serious." Said Mei.
"With all due respect, Lady Mei. We should keep our focus on taking out the Mizukage, Yagura." Said her guard to her right.
"He's right. The last thing we need are any distrac...guh!" Her guard on her left began, before his throat was suddenly slashed wide open.
Coming to a halt, Mei look towards both her guards. Only to find them both dead. She began to look around for the culprit, but she couldn't see anyone.
"It's been a while hasn't it, Mei?" Said a voice.
Recognizing the voice, Mei looked towards where the voice came from as she replied. "Yes. Yes it has, Yagura."
Coming out from behind one of the nearby trees, Yagura said. "That's 'Lord Yagura'. Although, I guess it doesn't matter since you're going to die soon anyway."
Yagura was short for full grown adult. He stood a little over 5 foot tall, and had messy, light-grey hair, pink pupiless eyes as well as a stitch like scar under his left eye. He wore a grey, sleeveless shirt with the Mist Headband attached to the front, short-sleeved mesh armour over which he also wears a green poncho along with a turquoise sash around his waist, paired with a green apron over his pants, along with a pair of brown boots. In his right hand he carried a staff-like pole weapon with uneven sized hooks with a green flower on the larger end.
*Scoff* "That's what you think, you psychopath!" Mei yelled.
"Hmpf. Actually, that's something I know. Right, Ao and Chojuro." Yagura replied, as two more figures came out from behind trees. Ao had light blue hair and an eye patch over his right eye, while Chojuro had grey hair and a large sword, that had two handles attached to it, in both his hands.
Smirking, Mei let out a chuckle. "Hehe. Do you honestly think that I'd face you with just these two by my side, Yagura?" Said Mei, earning a confused look from Yagura.
Just as he was about to question what she meant by that, he received his answer. "Hiramekarei Release: Hammer!" Yelled Chojuro, as he swung his sword. Yagura had just bearly caught a glimpse of Chojuro, before he was sent flying through nearby buildings.
Yagura came to a halt when he hit the back wall of the third building, causing it to collapse on top of him. "Good job, Chojuro." Said Mei, as she prepaired for when Yagura would reappear.
"Th..thank you, L..lady Mei." Chojuro replied.
Just then Yagura appeared as if nothing happened. This time however, he was surrounded by red chakra with what looked like one tail swaying behind him. As Yagura walked towards them, the red chakra began to dissipate.
"So that's what you meant. It seems Chojuro was a traitor. How I despise traitorous shinobi!" Said Yagura, with an angry look on his face. "Ao! Kill Chojuro, I'll kill the wench!" Yagura ordered.
"Very well." Ao replied, as he began a long sequence of hand signs. "Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!" Ao yelled, as he finished his hand signs.
Chojuro had turned towards Ao, as if ready to defend himself against an attack. However, Yagura was caught by surprise when the jutsu wasn't aimed at neither Chojuro nor Mei. The jutsu was aimed for him. "Coral Wall Jutsu!" Yagura called, after just a couple hand signs. A wall of coral appeared and shielded him from the water dragon.
Once the coral wall fell after it's usefulness, Yagura became livid. "YOU TRAITOROUS BASTARDS! HOW DARE YOU BETRAY ME!" Yagura yelled.
It was Ao who answered. "Why should we follow someone, who is under the control of someone from the shadows. We know it's not only Lord Yagura we're betraying, but the one controlling him." Said Ao, with a calm demeanor.
After a moment of silence Yagura replied, in an eerily calm voice. "So, you figured it out. I assume it was the Byakugan you acquired that gave me away, is it not?"
"That's right. We may not know how long you've been controlling him, but it ends today." Said Mei, as she began making hand signs. "Lava Style: Lava Globs Jutsu!" Mei called out, shooting large globs of lava towards Yagura.
"Water Style: Water Wall Jutsu!" Yagura countered, after stowing his staff onto his back.
Due to the surrounding temperature, the water from Yagura's jutsu froze almost instantaneously, trapping himself in a dome of ice. As a result, Mei's lava jutsu clashed against Yagura's unintended ice wall, melting the ice and falling through the gaps it made.
"Hmm. It seems that even if Haku isn't around, he can be quite helpfull." Said Mei, still not letting her guard down.
"Wow. This Haku sounds very powerful. I want to be as stong as that someday. Hopefully." Thought Chojuro, as he mimicked Mei and kept his guard up.
"This fight isn't over yet! He's using even more of the Three Tail's chakra then last time!" Ao yelled, using his Byakugan to confirm Yagura's condition.
Suddenly and explosion of chakra occurred, shaking the earth they stood on, and a pillar of dark red arose from where Yagura had been. Smoke, snow, and fog had blocked everyone's view of Yagura. After about a minute Yagura appeared, cloaked in dark red chakra with what looked like two tails swaying behind him.
-Haku and Pakura v.s. Matsuro-
Upon seeing the pillar of chakra after the tremor they felt, Haku and Pakura knew that the battle with the 4th Mizukage had begun.
"It seems that Lord Mizukage has gotten serious now. There's no way that they'll live to see the sunset today. Heh, they'll be lucky to even live till noon." Said Matsuro, with obvious glee in his voice.
"Shit! We've gotta make this quick!" Were the thoughts of both Haku and Pakura.
"You might as well give up. You can't beat me, and even if you could, you'd never be able to save them from Lord Mizukage's power. Hell, I'll even help you two out." Said Matsuro, getting curious looks from his opponents. Getting a large evil smile on his face, he answered their unasked question. "BY SENDING YOU TWO TO THE AFTER LIFE FOR KILLING MY BROTHER!"
With that Matsuro began a loooong series of hand signs. Once finished, he yelled out his strongest jutsu. "EARTH STYLE: ONE HUNDRED EARTH DRAGONS JUTSU!" The earth began to rumble so intensely, that everyone in the village had to stop fighting because they couldn't stand from the intense shaking.
Even Haku's ice began to crack. The cracks spread past just his ice, but into the snow that sat lower than the ice as well. As they looked on from the ground to which they had fallen, it came as no surprise as a hundred dragons made from earth and rock, broke through the ice almost as if it were paper and rose high into the air.
To Haku it seemed like this was as far as he was meant to go, as all hope fell from his heart and mind. Looking towards the shattered ice beneath him, he thought. "I'm sorry Zabuza. I've failed to accomplish your dream." With that thought in mind, Haku closed his eye. And thought he couldn't see it, the one hundred earth dragon began their descent.
He waited for the end to come, not knowing if it was going to be slow and painfull, quick and painless or a combination of both. He then felt intense heat, and believe he was in hell. Opening his eyes, he was that the shattered ice beneath him was melting. That told him that wasn't in hell, and that he was alive. Wondering how that could be, he looked up. And to his surprise, Pakura was standing in front of him.
Her body posture was like an 'X'. She was squinting as if in heavy concentration. Looking around, he could see why it felt so hot. Around them was a large sphere of, what looked to be fire. "Wh...How?!" Haku asked, not even sure if that was the right question to ask at this moment.
Opening her eyes a little bit, she glanced behind her and saw Haku staring at her. "Heh. Finally realized, huh? This fight... isn't...over yet!" She said, turning back to her concentration.
"What jutsu is this?" Haku asked.
"Scorch Style: Scorch Dome Jutsu! It's the only thing I could think of to use a time like this. Now, shut up!" Pakura replied, no longer in the mood to answer questions.
-Matsuro-
Meanwhile, Matsuro stood outside the clash between the two jutsu. The earth dragons would break apart, due to the immense heat, and pieces would be flung in random directions, somehow missing Matsuro. At this point he couldn't even tell if Pakura's jutsu was still up, due to all the fog from her jutsu's heat or the dust from his earth dragons. "It's no use, they'll die before this jutsu is over." Matsuro thought, as the last of his earth dragon crashed into the source of the dust and fog.
-Haku and Pakura-
Just before the final earth dragons clashed against Pakura's jutsu, Pakura lost consciousness due to the extensive use of her chakra. As her jutsu dissipated, Haku saw some earth dragons coming down on them. Reacting faster than he ever thought possible, he grabbed Pakura and used one-handed hand signs for final jutsu that he hoped would save their lives. "Ice Style: Ice Pyramid Jutsu!"
-Matsuro-
Matsuro was panting heavily. That jutsu took a lot out of him. He would normally use that jutsu to take out a large number of enemy ninja or a small village, but he had lost his temper over the thought of his deceased brother at their hand. Despite the exhaustion however, he never once took his eyes away from where Haku and Pakura were supposed to be. Not that he could even see through the fog or dust that surrounded the area.
As the dust settled, the fog however remained. He walked towards where the two jutsu clashed. After climbing all the large pieces of his earth dragons, that hadn't flown very far due to their wight, he finally made it to where he believed the epicenter to be.
"Ha! No way they survived that. *Pant* But I'd better make sure. Besides, no one ever accused me of being unthorough." Said Matsuro, as he leaned down in order to move a rock out of the way. Before he could touch the rock however, he felt a slight pain. The pain was quickly followed by intense cold that almost immediately numbed the pain. Looking down she saw why.
It appeared to be an icicle had pierced his heart. At that moment, he knew he had failed to avenge his brother. He exhaled his last breath just as his head and limbs went limp.
A moment later, Haku's ice pyramid extended out through the top of the pile of rocks. The top of the pyramid soon opened and Haku soon appeared carrying an unconscious Pakura over his shoulder. Finding a suitable place to set her down, Haku began making sure that Pakura would be alright.
There weren't any external injuries to be found, but Haku knew that she was suffering from moderate chakra exhaustion. The same couldn't be said for Haku though. Although he still had plenty of chakra to be of help to Mei and the others fighting the Mizukage, his jutsu wasn't quite fast enough to protect himself fully from Matsuro's final jutsu. Haku was bleeding from the upper left side of his head where he had almost been knocked unconscious himself by a falling rock, that happened to have been knocked off of one of the earth dragons that was about to him. Luckily, only that one piece had come through. But the rock had also hit his left shoulder, hard enough to probably leave a fracture on the bone.
Looking around, Haku thought to himself. "It looks like Pakura will be fine for now and it doesn't look like anyone will be coming this way anytime soon. But I should still find a safe place to hide her until we can get her some proper treatment later."
With that Haku placed Pakura back over his good shoulder, and proceeded to find a safe location to hide Pakura's unconscious form. Once he had found a proper location, he went off in search of Mei and Yagura's battle. Which wasn't all that difficult to find.
-Mei and co. v.s. Yagura-
Mei, Chojuro and Ao were now sporting some minor injuries. Yagura had upped the difficulty if the battle by going into his three tailed state, but he had yet to fully release the tailed beast. Mei and her teammates were about to dodge an attack when the ground suddenly began shaking violently. They had still managed to dodge the attack, but not without taking some damage.
"Coral Prison Jutsu!" Yagura yelled. Corals began to surround Mei and the other. They had managed to avoid being caught in the jutsu, but the coral had managed to scratch each of them on their legs.
"Ao, flank left! Chojuro, right!" Mei ordered, as she wieved more hand signs. "Lava Style: Melting Apparition Jutsu!" With that, a large amount of lava, a lot more than what Mei would normally us, emerged from Mei's mouth and into the air. As the lava came falling down, it surrounded Yagura on all sides. With the sides guarded by Ao and Chojuro and the rear having the lava closest to the ground and Mei obviously guarding he front, Yagura was practically trapped. And with the amount lava coming down on him, Yagura knew that his current state wouldn't help him much.
As the lava came down, Ao and Chojuro prepared a couple water jutsu. With the heat from Mei's jutsu, their water jutsu wouldn't instantly freeze. "Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!" "Water Style: Water Shark Bomb Jutsu!" Called Ao and Chojuro, respectively. Both jutsu hit the standing lava, rapidly cooling it thanks to the cold temperature that was still, to an extent, effective.
In just a couple seconds however, the quickly solidifying lava failed to keep Yagura imprisoned. Yagura emerged from his 'prison' not as himself, but as the Tailed-Beast inside him. Mei, Ao and Chojuro now had to face the Three-Tails in mortal combat. "As if Yagura by himself wasn't bad enough. I was hoping to end this before Yagura released his Tailed-Beast. But now we have to get him outside the village before it's destroyed." Thought Mei. Without even uttering a word, Ao and Chojuro followed her in an attempt to bring the battle outside the village as far as possible.
-20 minutes later-
Needless to say, dodging attacks from a giant being that could easily squish you was very difficult to say the least. It was much worst when said being was using some ranged attacks as well. If it weren't for Ao's Byakugan, they may have already been killed. Despite that they were still incredibly exhausted, when they finally reached a clearing far enough away from the village.
During their temporary retreat, Mei had ordered Ao to search for a weakspot on the Three-Tails. Despite his search however, Ao just couldn't see anything that could be a weekness. Ao did however, discover something off. Coming to the conclusion of what would be mostly the best weakess they could exploit, Ao signaled to Mei and Chojuro on where to attack. He knew that neither Yagura or the one controlling him would be able to know what he was telling them, because the signals he was using were unique to the highest members of the rebellion.
"We... need... to distract... him and... attack... his one... good eye." Mei thought, repeating Ao's message in her head. "Right. Chojuro!" Mei yelled, not even bothering with a verbal order since she saw him reading the message out of the corner of her eye.
"Right!" Chojuro replied, has he had already begun hand signs. "Water Style: Raging Waves Jutsu!" A stream of water shot from Chojuro's mouth, aiming for the Three-Tails' right shoulder.
The Tailed-Beast just followed the stream of water. There wasn't any reaction when the water jutsu hit. But there was a reaction when Mei's "Lava Style: Lava Globs Jutsu!" hit his right hand/claw, causing him to look down a bit.
Ao knew what they were planning the moment Chojuro's jutsu hit the right shoulder. They wanted to give him a clear shot at their targeted weak spot. Pulling out a kunai with multiple paper bombs attached, Ao waited untill just before Mei's jutsu hit.
Not having to wait long, Ao threw the kunai right where he suspected it to be when Mei's attack hit. He was disappointed however, when the kunai hit one of the teeth-like horns on it's head and exploded shortly after. "Shit! I thought I had it!" Ao thought, as the Three-Tails now looked towards Ao with rage.
The Three-Tails no doubt knew it was him, most likely due to the person controlling Yagura. The Tailed-Beast gathered it's chakra for a 'Tailed-Beast Bomb!'.
"OH SHIT!" Was the collective thoughts the three shared. Before the Three-Tails could finish focusing it's chakra in a ball, three large icicles made its way to the Tailed-Beast's eye. This attack would no doubt blind the Three-Tails.
Mei and the others took this time to turn around and see Haku, who was waving for them to come over to his position at the tree line. Doing so, Mei asked the questions on everyone's mind. "Since you're here, I can only assume that Matsuro is dead. But where's Pakura? And how long have you been here? And how did you know to attack the eye?" Mei asked, forgetting about her normally calm demeanor.
Patiently waiting for Mei to finished asking her questions, Haku answered calmly. "Yes, Matsuro is dead. But it was very close. I hid Pakura out of the way in a safe location for her safety, since she has moderate chakra exhaustion. But she should be ok, as long as she doesn't have to push herself. But that's unlikely as she was unconscious when I hid her. And I got here just as this one here..." Haku looked towards Chojuro. "... hit the Three-Tails' right shoulder. I wasn't sure why until I saw him..." Looking towards Ao now. "...threw a kunai with paper bombs. After that I just connected the dots." Haku finished.
"I see." Mei replied. Looking back towards the raging, and blinded, Three-Tails. Turning away, she closed her eyes and began assessing the situation.
Meanwhile Chojuro had his mind on other things. "This guy is about the same age as me, and he took out Matsuro? Even if he had help, he would have to be pretty strong to even go up against him even with help. And this Pakura must be pretty strong too." Despite the bad timing, Chojuro decided to voice a question that would bug him later if he didn't. "Umm... excuse me, Haku. Who was your teacher, and how strong are you compared to them?"
Confused as too why he would ask such questions now, Haku decided to answer him quickly since he might not be able do so in the future. "My teacher was Zabuza Momochi, and according to him I was stronger than he was before he died."
"I see. Who killed him?" Chojuro asked. Being his insecure self he couldn't help but think that he might die today, so he would like to get his questions out of the way.
"A Leaf ninja named Kakashi Hatake. I may have been able to defeat him, but it was one of his students who defeated me quite easily. Even with all the training I've had since then, I still don't believe I could beat him." Haku replied, answering even the questions that he was sure were to come next.
To say that Chojuro was shocked, was like saying new born infants cry in the middle of the night. Even Ao was shocked at the revelation. Ao took his chance to ask a quick question. "Who was it that beat you?"
*Sigh* "He is a brand new Leaf Genin. His name is Naruto Uzumaki." Haku replied, seeing that the Three-Tails now began to shrink in size.
"A brand new Genin beating someone capable of holding their own against Matsuro?! Impossible!" Ao thought.
"I gotta meet that guy." Was the thought that went through their heads.
Before any more thoughts could be thought or words could be said, they all shot their heads towards the clearing. "YOU BASTARDS! I'LL KILL YOU!" Yagura yelled, holding his left hand over his left eye.
"This is our chance. Releasing the Three-Tails and then reverting back had taken a lot of chakra from him. It's four on one, we have the numbers advantage." Said Ao, as he scanned Yagura with his Byakugan.
"Right. We'll surround him on all sides. Haku, you take Yagura's rear." Mei ordered, getting a nod in confirmation. "Alright, let's get going."
Just seconds later, Yagura was surrounded on three sides. Ao to his right, Chojuro to his left and Mei in front. "Are you done with your little tricks?" Asked Yagura, not expecting an answer.
"Hmm. Perhaps, but I'm sure we can come up with a couple more 'tricks'." Mei replied, with a slight smirk on her face and earning a scowl on Yagura's
Forming hand signs, Yagura called out his jutsu. "Water Style: Exploding Water Shockwave!" With the jutsu called, a large amount of water emerged from Yagura's mouth. As the water spread at a rapid pace, it began making waves that Yagura just surfed of as it made a tower out of the water pressure.
As Yagura raised in altitude, the water would've spread fiercly over the clearing if it hadn't quickly turned to ice. Halting the jutsu, Yagura jumped to the ground. As he landed Chojuro quickly came in for the attack. "Hiramekarei Release: Sword!" Chojuro called, swinging his sword and aiming for a decapitation.
"Water Style: Water Mirror Jutsu!" Yagura called, countering Chojuro's attack with a copy of the latter using the same technique.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!" Ao called, once Chojuro was forced backwards from the impact with his 'reflection'. Seeing the attack coming, Yagura simply jumped out of the way.
As soon as he landed he heard someone else call out a jutsu. "Vapor Style: Solid Fog Jutsu!" Mei called, after quickly moving about twenty feet from Yagura.
Acting quickly, Yagura jumped up and away from Mei and into the air. While in the air he began a backflip, only to come face to face with an image of a young man in an ice mirror. The image quickly came out of the mirror and hit Yagura with an elbow, effectively knocking him back down to earth.
Seeing Yagura land on his back, Chojuro quickly jumped towards him. Being low on chakra, Chojuro could only swing his sword down upon Yagura. Instead of hitting Yagura, Chojuro hit Yagura's staff. Yagura had seen Chojuro coming so he held up his staff, perpendicular to where he and Chojuro's blade were.
Before Yagura had hit the ground, Haku created another ice mirror to escape a possible counter attack. Seeing that Chojuro and Yagura were currently at a stalemate, Haku took another chance to attack. Having left the ice Mirror he made above Yagura when he first attacked, he decided to attack from there again. Only this time he attacked with senbon.
Yagura had seen the image reappear and it looked like he threw something, but he couldn't see what it was. Realizing that it must've been senbon, Yagura quickly turned and attempted to escape he attack. This caused Chojuro to bring his blade crashing into the ground where Yagura previously had laid.
Yagura managed to avoid half the senbon and all of the vital points they were aimed for. He had one in his right shoulder muscle, another in he skin between his index and thumb on the same hand and two more in his front thigh and midde calf muscles. All of them painful and uncomfortable, but none of them life threatening.
Looking around he saw that he was surrounded by four ninja now instead of three. Ofcourse that didn't surprise him since he was already attacked by the 4th ninja twice now. Looking at Haku, he said. "So, you must be the cowardly senbon user that Matsuro mentioned."
"I'd hardly say that I'm 'cowardly'. We are ninja after all, so hiding is in the job. But yes, I do use senbon and my main weapon as well as my 'Ice Style'." Haku replied, as he watched Yagura pull out all the senbon.
"I see. So, it's safe to assume you fought and killed Matsuro then?" Yagura asked. All he recieved was a nod. He then looked around and began to think of a strategy. "So. Two 'Water Style' users, one with the Byakugan and the other one of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist. A powerfull 'Ice Style' user, who also specialized in senbon. And a kunoichi with two Kekkei Genkais. My chances don't look good, but I'm not Mizukage for nothing." Yagura thought, as he tried to think of a strategy to even the odds in his favor.
Before he could think however, Mei had fired off another jutsu. "Water Style: Raging Waves Jutsu!"
"Water Style" Water Wall Jutsu!" Yagura countered. As soon as his water wall vanished, Chojuro came down with his sword. Easily avoiding the attack, he had to quickly had to avoid the close up kunai strikes by Ao. Managing to get some distance, Yagura grabbed his staff and blocked Haku's senbon.
This continued for another five minutes. Mei came in close and threw a jutsu on occasion, and once Yagura got some room Chojuro would swing his sword vertically or horizontally, forcing Yagura to once again gain some distance. Only to have to avoid Ao's kunai attacks, and then have Haku attack.
Every now and then they would switch to a long distance attack. It was Ao's turn to come in for an attack, knowing this Yagura decided to make a comeback. As Ao came in, Yagura avoided the first strike by taking a small jump back and spin around. Coming to the end of his spin, Yagura took his staff like a bat and brought it around and hit Ao in the ribs as if he were a baseball.
Ao was sent flying towards Haku. Instead of going after Yagura, Haku went to check on Ao. He knew that Mei and Chojuro would keep Yagura busy, but he didn't take into account that Yagura would create water clones to keep them busy. However, he was too preoccupied with Ao that he didn't notice Yagura coming right at him.
Yagura went to stab Haku from behind with the larger hook on his staff. Before he could connect, someone had come between him and his target. "Who the hell is this bitch, and why did she have to get in the way?!" Yagura asked himself, furious that he was denied his target.
Hearing the sound of something piercing through clothes and flesh, Haku turned around and saw what he would never have wanted to see. Pakura had his back to him. That didn't bother him though. No, it was that Pakura had Yagura's staff coming out of her back and blood was slowly flowing from the wound. "Pa...Pakura? What are you doing here?" Haku asked, shocked at the sight before him.
"What? You *cough* think I'd leave *gak* this up to you, with out *cough cough* me? Heh, not a chance." Pakura replied, as she threw up blood.
At this point, Ao had got up to a sitting position. He leaned on one hand and held the other over his injured ribs. "So, this is Pakura of the 'Scorch Style'." Ao thought.
Pakura looked Yagura in the eye, and said. "This *pant* is where *huff* you *puff* die *gasp* you bastard!" Pakura grabbed the staff and pulled it towards herself. Despite the pain, she refused to scream. Reaching out her right had, she grabbed the 4th Mizukage tightly by his shoulder. "Scorch Style: Super Steam Kill!"
-End flashback-
"So you see, not only did she save my life. But she is also the one who finished off the Mizukage." Said Haku, as he finished his tale.
It was getting close to sunset. Everyone from the Chikara clan had come to sit around and listen to the story. The youngest children were told to go play since the majority was considered too 'grown up' for them. They were gathered around a large camp fire as they all listened. "So, how did you survive such an injury?" Natsu asked, looking towards Pakura. All suspicion gone.
"The last thing I remember before passing out, is that Ao picked me up and carried me to the nearest medical tent for the rebellion. But, he had to leave the Mizukage's staff in me otherwise I would've died from blood loss." Pakura replied, sitting next to Haku.
"I see. I apologize for my earlier behavior, I didn't realize you could be such a fierce ally." Said Natsu, bowing his had slightly.
Pakura just shrugged her shoulders in response, indicating that it wasn't a big deal.
"Mommy, mommy! A ship, a ship!" Yelled a little seven year old girl, with blonde hair and braided pig-tails.
Looking over to where the girl pointed, everyone got up and was about to ready themselves for battle. But was interrupted by the Chikara clan's elder. "They carry the symbol of the Kudo clan. They were also loyal to the Hidden Whirlpool and the Uzumaki." Seeing everyone ease themselves the elder smirked before he added his last part. "Seems the pirates have returned."
Well there it is. The last chapter to 'Haku's Adventure'. I'm really sorry it took so long, but I've been real busy lately. This will NOT be the end of my stories. Before I continue however, I need to update some things in my stories. Thank you for being patient and please continue to be. My next story continues after a time skip and I have some things planned out in my head, so I hope you'll like it. Poll is still open, please review.
