"So, how are things going with you and James?" Loralei asked Lily after she snuck out of Percy's room, where he was taking his nap after an hour of rocking and singing him to sleep.
Lily smiled. "Good."
"I mean, it's nearly been a year."
"Yeah, and you've been back with Sirius for over a year." Lily replied.
"Yeah, but you're the one that's always wanted to get married and be in serious relationships." Loralei replied. "You've been with James almost a year, do you seeing it going anywhere?"
Lily nodded. "I think and hope so."
Loralei frowned. "That's all I get? Spill girl!"
Lily rolled her eyes. "What do you want to know?"
"Where do you think you're going?" Loralei asked.
"Well, we've been talking about getting our own place after graduation." Lily told her. "I don't know if it's going to happen. Probably more likely to happen after we get into the programs we want, but since we send in our resumés in May and have the interviews in June, it might happen after or something."
"That sounds wonderful. He's just going have to talk to me about the house now... Because some of me wants to move out too, and I'm not leaving it there to rot." Loralei muttered. "But it would be wicked if you did move in together. The first of us to actually get in a serious relationship." She pressed a hand to her chest, only teasing slightly.
"Actually, you're the only one in a Sirius relationship." Lily teased back.
Loralei slapped her hand against Lily's upper arm. "Shut it, you." She giggled. "Can you believe it, Lils? We're growing up! This is our last year at Hogwarts."
"Yeah, and someone here is going to be a godmother any minute." Lily teased. "It's scary isn't it?"
"Beyond." Loralei agreed. "But you know what, I think we're going to make it. We'll look back on all this when we're old in our rocking chairs and laugh about how we didn't know anything."
"You bet." Lily agreed. "With white hair and so many wrinkles we barely look like each other."
"And kids running around breaking stuff." Loralei laughed. "Think about how many glass objects we're going to lose!"
"You're going to loose them long before me. You're seventeen and you already have godsons. Or almost do." Lily teased.
"Yeah, let's just hope they'll be here soon." Loralei smiled.
"Are you sure you don't want us to stay?" Sirius asked as they were lining up at the fireplace.
Loralei shook her head. "I'll be fine. The boys are back anyway, so it's not going to be too bad. I'll spend the rest of my night sleeping or reading, or checking on them."
"Remember to owl if you need anything." Sirius told Loralei before kissing her cheek.
"I will." She promised before hugging Remus and whispering so Remus could barely hear her. "Tell him to wait to ask her until they're moving in together."
"Thank you for all the help." He smiled as they pulled away from each other. "Owl us when you hear word about your godsons. We want to know exactly how they're doing."
Loralei smiled. "Oh, I will. And I'll come back with stories about them and you're going to wish that I stopped talking about them."
"As long as they're cute, I doubt that." Remus told her with a smile.
The next to hug her was Lily, and then James. Loralei told them to have fun in the Head Student common room. She knew that's where they all were headed.
As soon as the four of them disappeared into the fireplace, Fabian and Gideon came running in from outside.
"The babies were born! Little Fred and George are here!" Fabian cried.
"We can go see them in the morning with the kids." Gideon added.
Loralei smiled. "We will then, what time do they want us?"
"No earlier than seven." Fabian supplied.
"We'll be there at seven then." She grinned.
"Are you ready to see your brothers?" Loralei asked the boys as she lined up the boys. She made them put on sweaters, even if they were just flooing to St. Mungos.
"Yep!" Bill grinned.
Loralei turned to their uncles. "You take Bill." She told Gideon. "And you take Charlie, I have Percy." She told Fabian.
"Got it." They both grinned. "Ladies first." They parted, letting Loralei with little Percy on her hip get to the fireplace first.
Loralei was surprised St. Mungos was so busy on an early Sunday morning. Loralei stepped out of the fireplace and waited for the others to join her. The six of them walked to the room Arthur had told them to go to by owl very late the night before.
Both of the parents were awake, and cradling the babies. One per parent.
"You are outnumbered now two-to-one." Fabian informed them, going to kiss his sister on her cheek, while Gideon landed one on her other cheek.
"How are they doing?" Loralei asked, putting Percy on the bed beside his mother. Percy hugged his mother.
"Careful, Perce." Molly told him, and she hugged her son back. "Do you want to meet your brother?"
"He's so tiny." Percy said.
"You were this tiny too." Molly told her son. "He'll get big just like you."
Loralei, during this looked at Arthur. "So, which is which?"
"This is Fred." He said, looking down at the baby in his arms. "And that's George." He nodded to the baby in Molly's arms, smiling like the happiest person on earth. He looked at Loralei. "Do you want to hold him?"
"How could I say no?" She replied, as she held out her arms for the baby. "Oh yeah, he's gonna be trouble I can tell."
"To us?" Arthur asked.
"To everyone." Loralei replied, smiling as she looked down at the tiny baby. "Right little Freddikins?" He was wrapped tightly in a little blue baby blanket, a puff of red hair barely visible on his head.
"He looks a lot like you." Loralei told Arthur.
"Thank you." Arthur smiled.
"He's so beautiful. Are they identical?"
"So far, but George is an ounce heavier though." He told her, not taking his eyes off his son.
"That'll make it a lot easier to tell them apart." Loralei teased. "'Which one's heavier?' 'I think this one is.' 'That's George then.'" She laughed.
"Sounds about right." Arthur laughed with her.
"I think so." She agreed. "The odds are, when Fabian and Gideon take care of them, they'll be doing just that."
"Oh, and that's why we're not going to leave them alone with the identical ones...they'd be lost. Even if they are identical twins." Arthur whispered to her.
"I'll make sure they know which is which...but I'm going to be one of the people to put different clothes on them so I know which is which, but to be a pain, I'm going to buy them matching outfits when they get older." Loralei warned him.
"Oh, so you don't only know that they're trouble, but you want to help them cause trouble?" Arthur raised his eyebrows.
"Oh, you know it. The only person I hang around with that isn't a troublemaker is Lily, and maybe Remus." Loralei told him. "Your boys have no chance. I'm going to be a fun godmum."
"I'm sure you are. The other three will be so jealous of the twins." He laughed.
"Of course they will be, they're not getting matching outfits."
"Do you guys want me to stay and help out for a while?" She asked when she helped them bring everything home from the hospital later that afternoon.
"Would you?" Arthur asked.
"Of course. Anything you need." Loralei smiled.
"Then it would be great." Molly squeezed her hand.
"Okay then, do you want any food? I can make you anything you like. You must be so tired." She said.
"Toast would be great."
"Toast it is." Loralei smiled. "I'll be back in a minute."
So Loralei helped out the Weasley's wherever she could, helping put the other children to sleep, but it wasn't until four in the morning that her and Arthur were cradling the two boys downstairs while Molly slept, calming their cries. Loralei held George now, the little sleeping baby that Loralei just automatically loved. She loved them both so much already. How could she not?
He started out crying when she went to their room, but after they were fed they calmed down, and George fell asleep in Loralei's arms. She could have put him down twenty minutes ago, but she couldn't. Arthur must have felt the same way, because he was sitting in the rocking chair, looking dead tired, but seemed unwilling to let his newest son back into his cradle.
Loralei figured out she wanted this. To have a kid, to have a family. Not for a while-she was only seventeen after all-but someday. Have a son or daughter. Though she would have more experience with boys, a girl could be a welcome change.
Even if it ended up like her family did, with her parents dying, and making a family out of her friends, she still wanted to try one day. Hopefully after the war was over. When everything was settled down, and she could focus on what she wanted. Maybe Sirius would agree with her. She could imagine a little black haired baby. She hoped he felt the same way.
"Hey, mate." Sirius said, as he and James were the last ones awake, hanging around in James' room.
"Yeah?" James replied.
"You know how you're going to ask Lily to marry you?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"And you've been trying to find your mother's engagement ring?"
James hesitated. "Yeah?"
"She gave it to me. She gave it to me to give to Loralei when I ask her to marry me." Sirius said, unable to look at his friend as he threw a rubber ball against the wall, catching it, and throwing it again. Never stopping the rhythm. It gave him something to do.
James however, had to throw something. "What? How could you not tell me this?"
"I wasn't sure I wanted to marry her yet." Sirius told him.
"What's changed?"
"I want to marry her." He replied with a shrug, like it was no big deal, but James grabbed him by the shoulders.
"Are you fucking kidding? This is how you bring it up? Like it's no big deal? Merlin, Padfoot!"
Sirius started laughing. "Oh, you want to do the whole hug and everything?"
"I want you to tell me where you have been keeping this ring. I haven't seen it anywhere." He stated.
Sirius reached into his pocket, and withdrew a black box. "For the last month I've been carrying it with me."
"What's stopping you from asking her?" James asked.
"What if she says no like she did to Prewett?" Sirius asked. "I don't know what I'd do if she said no."
"She's not going to." James told him. "She's been in love with you for years."
"I sure hope so. I just really want her to say yes, I don't care if she wants a long engagement, I just want there to be something more there, you know?" Sirius muttered.
"You're turning soft on me, Black. What happened to you?" James laughed.
"Shut up. You were always the one going on about Lily. This is down right normal, Potter."
"Yeah, well, I got my dream girl first."
