"You really wouldn't mind?" Molly asked. "I wouldn't ask, but Arthur has this work thing, and we'd be gone all day and night. We'll be back on Sunday."
It was a week after they had gotten back from Hogwarts. Loralei was over for dinner at the Weasley's, Arthur had taken the boys upstairs to go to bed so Molly and Loralei could talk.
"Not at all. I only need to get some stuff from Diagon tomorrow. If Fabian or Gideon can be there in the morning, I'll come by after lunch and take them back to my place." Loralei told her. "We'll have fun this weekend."
"What are you doing tomorrow in Diagon?" Molly asked.
"Oh, we're checking out the apartment that James and Lily have. They got engaged." Loralei smiled.
Molly broke into a smile. "Really? Tell them congratulations for me."
"I will." Loralei told her. "I've known about it for months, but it's kind of weird for it to be official. I mean, when I was a kid seventeen year olds seemed so old, and now that I am one, I don't know."
"What? Are you not thinking of marrying Sirius?" Molly asked.
Loralei sighed. "I've played with the idea before."
"And? It's obvious that he loves you, but would you want to marry him?" Molly asked.
"Not soon. I don't want to get married because there is a war coming. I don't want to feel like we did." Loralei told her. "And getting married is just a metaphor, right? If there is no relationship then the marriage isn't worth anything. I mean, as long as I have us, I think I'm going to be good with my life."
"That's a very healthy way to look at it." Molly told her. "Are you sure you're not secretly twenty-seven or something?" She teased.
Loralei laughed. "Maybe. It'd be cool if I was."
"Either way, I know you're too stubborn to do anything you don't want to do." Molly told her. "What's it going to be like living without your brother?"
"Weird. It's going to be Remus, Sirius and I in the house." Loralei sighed. "I'll always be the only girl."
"I know, I have five sons." Molly laughed. "Talk about the only girl."
"Yeah, but if you ever have a daughter she's going to be tough as nails, I'm not saying that you're not, I'm just saying that if they're the youngest, they can bite back."
"I'm sure of it. You would know being the youngest, and I know your brother's treated you like hell." Molly shook her head.
Loralei smirked. "Comes with the territory."
"How much ish do you have?" Sirius whined on his fifth trip of apparating things over with him. "Ish" became the new code-word for "shit" after Loralei overheard Sirius say it in front of her godsons. She was not happy with that language around them.
"Hey, that's my ish you're talking about." Lily replied, trying to look stern but she couldn't stop herself from breaking into a smile.
"My apologies your highness." Sirius rolled his eyes. "Where do you want it?"
"In the bedroom." Lily told him, pointing to a white door in the living room.
It was a cute apartment, blue walls, small kitchen that was attached to a living room with a small wooden table in between.
Blue tile counters, and white cabinets. A small four-top stove. A tea kettle. The small island also doubled as a bar where two stools were. White tile floors. And a fireplace to be able to floo to work downstairs. It was perfect for their first apartment.
Loralei sat on one of the counters, watching everyone work.
"Yo, lazy ass get working." James told her.
"I'm supervising." Loralei grinned.
"Well you could, at the very least, put the plates in the cupboard." He told her, pointing to the box next to her.
Loralei looked at the clock on the wall in front of her. It was about noon. "I actually have to be going. I'm taking care of the boys this weekend, and I said I'd pick them up soon...I'm just going to go..." She raised her wand before her brother could reply, and apparated to the Weasley's front garden.
"Suckers." Loralei laughed, walking through the door like it was her house.
Loralei was surprised that it was so quiet. She could hear talking, but no screaming or crying from the children. The boys had gotten better with the kids, it seems.
Loralei walked through the house to see Fabian and Gideon each holding one of the twins in the nursery. A big F and G on each one of the baby's foreheads.
"You did not." Loralei seethed, walking straight for them, and licking her thumb and trying to get off the ink. "What did you do to them?"
"We just didn't feel like remembering which clothes which were wearing." Fabian laughed. "So we took it into our own hands."
"I can't believe you two." Loralei took the babies from them, balancing the three month olds on each hip. "You know I'm going to tell, Molly, right?"
They both blanched. "Please no." They said in duet.
"Oh, I am, and then you're going to wish she killed you by the time she's done with you." Loralei threatened. "Did you draw on the other kids too?"
"Of course not, we know which one is which!" Gideon laughed, obviously not scared about his sister anymore.
"Good, go take the other's to my house. Are their bags packed?" Loralei asked.
"Yep, by the fireplace."
"Go on then." She told them. "I don't want to see your faces right now."
They both knew she didn't mean it, but they walked away, both of them whistling.
Loralei sighed, and looked at the two babies on each hip. "I'll get that off your forehead when we get home."
The babies just looked at her, Fred reaching up to stick his hand in her mouth.
"No, Freddie," she said as she leaned her head away from him, trying to keep his little hand out of her mouth. "Come on, kid." George started mimicking Fred, trying to stick his own hand in Loralei's mouth.
"I'm outnumbered." She laughed to herself, holding her head high, and lowering them as far as her arms would allow, keeping their short infant arms away from her face.
Bill ran up to Loralei, grinning. "Uncle Fab and Uncle Gid just took Percy and Charlie to your house, I'm supposed to help you with the twins." The seven year old puffed out his chest.
Loralei smiled. "How about you get yours and your brother's things all together downstairs? That would be a great help." She told him.
"I'll do it!" He cried, before running out of the room.
Loralei smiled. She loved these boys.
"So, are you good?" Fabian asked.
"Yeah, I think so." She nodded.
"You haven't taken off the F and G of their foreheads." He poked her arm.
"Yeah, well I will before Molly and Arthur picks them up." She rolled her eyes. "So no, I won't tell on you...unless you upset me sometime."
"I won't. Neither will Gideon. We learned from a young age to not upset her." He shivered. "She had clever ways of punishing us."
"Ooh... Story time." She teased. "Please tell."
"Well, lets see. Once when I curse she literally made me hold my tongue for ten minutes." Fabian looked up, trying to think of more. "Gideon slammed a door, and she made him close it a hundred times without slamming it. Stuff like that."
"There's one word for what kind of mother she is." Loralei looked around, Fred, George, and Percy were taking naps upstairs, and Charlie and Bill were playing with toys on the carpet. She leaned towards Fabian. "Badass." She whispered.
Fabian started laughing. "These poor boys are going to be terrified of women with you both being influences."
"I'm not scary." Loralei rolled her eyes.
"Oh, you are. Very scary." He told her. "Trust me, there's a reason why you were never hit on, and it wasn't because your brother was a Chaser, or that your father was the Minister."
Loralei gave him a confused look. "I'm a short, blonde girl. What's scary about you?"
"You'll figure it out." He told her, walking towards the fireplace. "See you later, Lai."
"Bye."
"I swear if either of you wake those boys up, you're going to have to get them to go back to sleep." Loralei fell onto the sofa, laying her head in Sirius' lap with a sigh. "Kids are work, man."
"So you don't want any?" Sirius asked.
"Not for a while, practice is great, but I'm not willing to give up sleeping in anymore." She laughed. "I'm so tired." She closed her eyes.
"Then go to sleep."
"I have only another week and a half that I'm a kid." She whispered. "I will have fun before then." She yawned.
"Yeah, you go with that." Remus rolled his eyes.
"Let her live in her fantasy, Moony." Sirius told him. "She may be delusional, but we can let her have that for another week and a half."
"But shouldn't we be good people and wake her from the dream that she's still a kid?" Remus replied in a mock-serious tone. "You have to admit that she's older than you, at least in maturity."
"What do you think, Lore?" Sirius asked, looking down at the girl.
Her deep breathing was the only response she gave him.
"Lore?"
No response.
"She's asleep. So much for still being a kid."
