A/N: Hello everybody! Yes, I know, another incredibly late update BUT my school decided that it would have a Bake Sale yesterday and all it's leadership students (top students) were required to go and I was no exception. Combined with my Saturday French classes...yeah, this was already done yesterday I just didn't have time to update it. Sucks, doesn't it?
Well but, at least it's here!
Thank you to all those wonderful people who took the extra time to review!

Ch. 44: Broken and Lost
The hotel room was eerily quiet, the overall mood somber.
None of the guys dared say anything for fear they'd break down.
However, the inevitable gloom hung in the air as they clearly heard Logan moving around, packing all his stuff.
"I don't want him to leave," Carlos whimpered finally "He can't leave..."
"We can't stop him," James replied bitterly "And after everything he's been through...who knows, maybe this is what's best for him. He needs his family right now..."
"B-but we're his family" Carlos blubbered.
Kendall glowered at him momentarily.
"No Carlos, we're not," he said finally "I'm not even sure he considers us his friends anymore, much less family."
"Kendall, don't snap at him like that," James said quietly "We won't be able to solve anything if we keep fighting amongst ourselves..."
"You're right," Kendall sighed "And yet, I'm at a loss here...I really don't know what to do..."
"Somebody should talk to Logan," James said after remaining quiet and thoughtful for a few moments.
"Yeah, but who?" Carlos said
"Obviously not one of us..." Kendall said "After what happened at the hospital...I doubt he'll even want to talk to us before he leaves, and anyways, he won't believe anything we tell him..."
James sighed.
"How about Katie?" Carlos asked, his voice unsteady.
Kendall shook his head.
"He-he'll associate her with me..." he said.
"Okay then, who?" James said.
Kendall thought for a moment.
"Well..." he said slowly "There IS someone who's our friend and Logie's friend but whom he won't immediately associate with us..."
"WHO?" Carlos and James both asked at the same time.
"Let me make a phone call first..." Kendall said with a sigh...
1 hour later...
"I'm ready, Mama Knight," Logan said as he finished zipping up his suitcase.
"Honey, I understand you're hurt and upset but...don't you think you're rushing a decision which you should think about long and hard?" Mama Knight asked him.
Logan shook his head.
"I want to go home," he said softly "I don't want to hurt anymore..."
"Oh sweetie!" Mama Knight exclaimed, hugging the boy she'd grown to love as a son close to her, telling him over and over again how sorry she was about what had happened to him.
"It's not your fault..." Logan said as he remained in her embrace, enjoying the comfort her arms offered him.
"There's someone who wants to talk to you before you leave," Katie said, entering the room.
Logan's whole demeanor changed when she said that. He broke out of Mama Knight's embrace.
"I told them, I don't want to talk to any of them! They all hurt me! I never want to see them again!" he exclaimed.
"Okay, I get that..." Katie said slowly "But he's not Carlos, James, or Kendall..."
"Huh?" Logan asked her "Then who is it?"
"Hi Logan..." Frankie said, entering the smart boy's room tentatively.
"Oh, hey Frankie, what's up man?" Logan asked, forcing himself to smile, reminding himself that Frankie had not done anything to him, unlike the other three.
"Can I talk to you? Alone" Frankie asked him.
"Sure," Logan said with a shrug and Mama Knight and Katie hastily left the room "What do you want to talk about?"
"I came here to ask you...why are you leaving?" Frankie said, cutting straight to the point of his visit.
Logan immediately tensed.
"Why would you care?" he muttered turning around so he wouldn't have to face the blonde boy "Did the others send you?"
"Yes," Frankie said honestly "But only because they wanted to make sure you were alright...since you're not letting any of them in..."
"They hurt me," Logan said simply, his eyes brimming with tears "They were supposed to be my best friends and yet they hurt me really badly..."
"Well...I can understand why you'd be mad at Carlos," Frankie said, ignoring Logan's pained gasp when he said Carlos' name "What I really don't get though..."he continued "Is why you're also lashing out on James and Kendall...what have THEY done to you?"
"They lied to me!" Logan said, fighting back more tears "They knew Carlos was going to break up with me and yet they didn't say anything to warn me..."
"First of all, James was the only one who knew, from what they've told me, Kendall found out about everything after you ended up in the hospital..." Frankie said "Secondly, Carlos is their friend too...and it might not be what you want to hear but Carlos had all the right in the world to do what he did. It's his life too, Logan, you know. You out of all people have seen the strain that a rushed engagement can have on a couple...I'm pretty sure that you've heard by now of all of James and Kendall's screw ups...tell me, would you want to be like that? Would you have liked for Carlos to have lied to you and accepted your proposal only to cheat on you later on?"
Logan glanced rapidly glanced at the door, alarmed, and Frankie lowered his voice, remembering the other three were still in the apartment.
"No," Logan said finally "I guess you're right...it was better this way..."
Frankie nodded.
"And what's more," he continued "Why are you running back home now? Or should I say...Minnesota? Logan, Minnesota is not your home anymore. Yes, I get it, it's where your family lives and you want to be with them but...think about it for a while, Logan. The guys ARE your family as well. Plus, you haven't been home for, what, 3 years now? Things change, Logan, people change. If you went back to Minnesota now you'd hardly recognize anybody there and you wouldn't have anyone other than your immediate family. Here, you have three best friends that would die for you, and back in the Palm Woods you have even more friends who care about you deeply...don't leave them all behind just 'cause you're angry that your boyfriend broke up with you,Logan. You're smarter than that..." He said.
Logan looked down ashamedly at his lap.
"I wouldn't know how to face it," he said quietly "Seeing...him...everyday, talking with him, living with him...I know it's going to hurt me more than I could ever hope to bear..."
"You could do what Kendall did when James first went into a coma..." Frankie said thoughtfully "I mean-he was in the same predicament as you, sort of, wasn't he? He couldn't bear to be in the apartment so...he moved out for a while. Maybe you should too, but not to the other side of the country Logan!"
"You're right..." Logan said softly "And I should be thankful, shouldn't I?" He said with a bitter scoff "I mean, at least Carlos is alive and well, isn't he? He's happy even though I'm miserable as can be..."
"Right..." Frankie said "At least Carlos is okay..."
A long, awkward silence ensued between the two.
Finally, Frankie asked Logan whether he was still thinking about going home.
Logan sighed.
"No," he said finally and letting out a shaky breath "I-I mean...I guess you're right...this is my home..."
Frankie smiled.
"I'm glad you're being reasonable," Frankie said "Shall I get you anything? Do you want me to go get someone?"
Logan shook his head.
"Just let everyone know I'm staying," Logan said with another sigh "And tell them that I want to be left alone for today...I'll-I'll talk to Kendall tomorrow...and...eventually, I guess I could forgive James and-and even Carlos..."
Frankie nodded before he clapped Logan's back and offered him a sympathetic smile before heading out.
Distantly, he heard his friends sigh in relief at Frankie's message and he even thought he heard Kendall quietly thank Frankie for talking to Logan.
He heard Mama Knight offer the boys and Katie some pizza, to which they all agreed, half-heartedly, leaving Logan completely alone in the apartment.
Try as he hard as he may Logan couldn't stop the tears that filled his mind once he was sure he was completely alone.
He was hurting really badly and he realized that, from now on, every time he and Carlos were together, he'd be tempted to link his hand with the Latino's or ruffle his hair affectionately. However, both those actions were forbidden for him now. As hard as it was for him to accept it, Carlos didn't want him anymore.
He glanced towards his night table and his heart clenched painfully inside his chest. He stared directly into a picture of him and Carlos embracing and smiling for the camera.
Carlos was wearing a silly clown hat while he himself had a cowboy hat and a checkered neckerchief. He remembered that picture all too well.
It had been taken at Carlos' birthday party last year, since it had been a theme party where everyone had taken their costumes.
He cringed when he recalled what had happened after the party had ended as Carlos ambushed him, hungrily kissing his mouth while they both made their way blindly into their bedroom and had had a fantastic night between them. Carlos had a strange fetish for costumes.
He tried to stop himself from thinking about the small Latino, and the taste of his lips, the warmth of his embrace, but he couldn't. Logan loved him too much.
Dragging his depressed self out of the bedroom (lest he be tempted to go into the bathroom and attempt to do what Kendall had done once) he slowly made his way into the kitchen.
Opening the fridge door he got out one of Mama Knight's famous snicker doodle cookies and began to nibble on one before something entirely different caught his eye.
With a trembling hand he took out a well-hidden eight-pack of special edition beer. He had no idea why the hotel allowed for something like his to be present in a room that was meant for two teenagers. Then again, he guessed the hotel hadn't imagined they'd be staying without any kind of adult supervision.
Deciding alcohol would probably help distract him from his pain ( and having heard from Jett Stetson that it was a great way for relieving stress) he opened one and took a long gulp.
He grimaced at its bitter taste.
Being the way he was, Logan was the only one of the guys who had never, in any way, tried alcohol.
He knew Kendall was, surprisingly, the heaviest drinker of them all, having started since his dad had died when he was 10. However, the blonde was mindful of his alcohol intake and hardly ever drank more than 2 beers at a time (or an occasional glass of wine, or a shot of something stronger). Situations like the one he'd had with Jett definitely did not happen often in Kendall Knight's life.
Carlos was the second heaviest drinker of their group. However, this wasn't because the sweet Latino drank frequently. He'd earned that title because, on those rare occasions when he DID drink, he turned...scary. For the lack of a better word. Unlike Kendall, Carlos had an unusually low tolerance for alcohol and even the smallest amount of liquor in his body made him really drunk. And Carlos had an ugly tendency of hurting either himself or others (or, most often, Mama Knight's lamps, mirrors, and portraits) when he was drunk.
Since Logan didn't drink, that automatically gave James the title of the 3rd heaviest drinker of their group. The pretty boy rarely drank, and when he did, it was always moderately, the way his mother had taught him. Logan knew his brunette friend didn't like to drink much because of his dad. James' father had been a hopeless drunk and that had occasioned several of his earlier fights with James' mother. James' father had tried to quit several times, had gone to rehab countless times, but he always went back to his habit. He'd recently begun drinking again around the time James had gone into a coma, and hadn't stopped since then.
Logan continued gulping down the beer, growing more and more accustomed to its bitter taste. Already he could feel his pain lessening, the alcohol numbing his mind, stopping the memories of him and Carlos.
Half an hour later Logan had collapsed on the bed, arms and legs dangling limply at his sides, the eight-pack of beer completely opened, its cans drained...
A/N: There you go. Does anyone have any new guesses as to what main problem is brewing underneath for the sequel or not yet? Lol. Give it your best ahot! Many guesses were close last time! Well, for now Logan is NOT leaving...will that be a good or bad thing in the end?
Oh and BTW I have a new poll posted on my profile about this fic that will give you a heads up on how this will end...go check it out and vote!
REVIEW TIME!
POLL TIME! Lol.
