"Is it weird that of all the things I should be thinking about right now, I'm wondering if I look okay?" Katie asked as she stood in front of a black door that Dumbledore had told them to stand behind before he brought them in.
Loralei laughed quietly. "This is why I love you, Kates. You always freak about the little stuff."
"Only because I don't want to deal with the big stuff." She muttered, pulling on her sweater to it covered her jeans.
"It'll be fine." Loralei told her. "It's Dumbledore. He wouldn't do this unless he was sure."
"Yeah, that's what I keep telling myself too." Katie muttered.
Loralei laughed without humor. "My heart is beating so fast."
"Mine too." Katie took Loralei's hand and squeezed it.
The door opened so they could see Dumbledore. "You can come in now."
The room was full of people, only a few the two new girls recognized. Moody, Kingsley Shacklebolt, McGonagall, and they could recognize a few faces from Hogwarts when they were in their first few years, but they couldn't remember the names. Just their faces.
The room was dim with a long wooden table, a few dozen people surrounding it, all of them were turned towards the two new blonde girls walking into the room.
"This is the Order of the Phoenix." Dumbledore told them.
The two girls looked at each other, before Loralei spoke.
"What made us special for you to bring us here?"
"You are the first recruits to make it out of a fight alive while the well trained aurors are dead." Moody growled from the corner, somewhat hidden in the shadows.
Loralei's face hardened. "Don't talk about them like that." That was the first thing she had said to that man besides, "yes sir," and, "no sir."
"They're worth more respect than that." Katie agreed, though her voice was softer.
Dumbledore sighed. "We would like you to join this organization."
"We don't even know what this is, exactly." Katie stated.
"Please, sit." Dumbledore told them, gesturing to two chairs.
The girls sat down before Dumbledore started to explain.
"It's a secret society fighting against Voldemort." He stated.
"Isn't that the same thing as being an auror then?" Loralei asked.
"Yes and no," Dumbledore stated. "We don't have protocols, or reports. We do work within the law, though."
"We bend it a bit." Said a mousy brown haired woman two people down from Loralei. "We share information that would be beneficial, have spies that we don't need to tell the upper ranks about besides the information. It's very good, really."
"We also don't have to keep up with the common criminals." Added a dark haired man with a mustache from across the table. "They are just the ones that distract the authorities enough that they can't do what needs to be done."
"Thanks, Ivan." Kingsley Shacklebolt, a man with chocolate colored skin said across from Loralei. She had seen him around the Auror Offices, but he was too high of a rank to have to deal with the recruits. She had never spoken to him before.
"What would you want us to do?" Katie asked.
"Keep your nose close to the ground. We know that they're recruiting straight out of Hogwarts." Dumbledore told them. "You both are young and know people in the years before you."
"So you want us to spy on them?" Loralei asked.
"No. We want to identify those who are most likely to sway that side and bring them to ours." Moody growled.
"Is that why you sent us to Hogwarts?" Katie asked. "To be the bridge between children and adults."
"You could say that." Kingsley nodded. "You both are the most approachable in the group of second year recruits and you both are capable to roll with the punches. You were our best options."
Loralei chewed on her lip. "What would we do after we identify them?"
"Call a meeting." Dumbledore stated.
"How?" Katie asked.
"For now you will come to my office and tell me. I will set up a meeting." Dumbledore told her. "Since you are in the same castle as me, it shouldn't be too difficult."
"So we're not members yet?" Loralei asked.
"We'll call this your trial." Dumbledore shrugged. "We find out if it is a good fit."
The two blonde girls looked at each other before Katie nodded.
"Yeah," Loralei said. "We can do that."

"How was your week?" Sirius asked that weekend when he went to visit Loralei. They were walking through Hogsmeade at sunset.
"Boring." She told him. Loralei and Katie were forced to promise not to tell anyone about the Order of the Phoenix. "What's going on back home?"
"All the recruit teams were split so now we're all working with an auror and going out with them." Sirius told her. "What is it they have you do around here?"
"So far all we do is catch kids out past curfew or snogging in the halls." Loralei rolled her eyes. "Katie and I make the best of it, though."
He nodded. "That's good."
"So who did you get paired with?"
"Samson." Sirius told her. Sam Samson was in his thirties. He wore his black hair slicked back in a ponytail on the back of his neck and had a hard look to him. No nonsense kind of guy.
"That must be terrible for you." Loralei teased. "He is a hard ass."
Sirius laughed. "You have no idea. It's taking forever to get him to trust me for more than turning on a light."
"That must be terrible for you!" Loralei nudged him with her shoulder. "At least my partner likes me."
"Yeah, from what I've heard, they're treating you like you're full-blown aurors." Sirius told her. "You have reports and even if you aren't where you want to be, you're still important."
Loralei nodded. "And with that we have weekly reports to turn in."
"They're treating you like you already are an auror! It's not fair! We all started training at the same time." He whined, putting his arm around her shoulders. "I'm so jealous."
Loralei laughed. "Yeah, you should be. We get to have first years staring at us, and seventh year boys hitting on us."
"Well, at least you have a ring to ward them off." He kissed her temple.
"And Katie has a certain finger." Loralei laughed. "We both miss our boys. It's really surprising how much we miss you guys. We had full length discussions on it."
"And what went on in these discussions?" He asked.
"We just talked about how we used to be bitches and now we've turned into softies." Loralei told him. "It's not always nice, you know."
"I think it's very nice." He replied. "Oh, by the way, Frank and Alice eloped."
Loralei stopped walking and pushed Sirius away, she she could look at him. "What? They got married? When?"
"A few weeks ago." Sirius told her. "They only told us a couple days ago, so don't kill me." He raised his hands up in surrender.
"Next time tell me!" She paused. "Why didn't she tell me?"
"Probably had too much fun being newlyweds." He teased.
"She's getting a letter from me." Loralei shook her head as they started walking again. She took his hand.
"I think she's expecting one." He told her. "She keeps eyeing me like she's expecting something."
"She should. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Loralei woke up late the next morning, so she made it down to the Great Hall when Breakfast was just ending. She saw something she did not expect to see. People were crying and holding each other.
"What's going on?" Loralei asked Katie as she sat next to her.
Katie held up a newspaper with large bold lettering on the front page.
