Chapter 84

"Loralei has to believe that I'm the Secret Keeper."

"Why?"

"Because she would do anything to protect you all. If she knows it's me, she's more likely to give up that information. She knows I'll never betray you. It will keep her and the baby safe."

"Whatever you want."

"What?" Loralei demanded. "What did you just say?"

"Apparently they had been planning it. Voldemort's after them. I'm the Secret Keeper. No one can know where they are." Sirius told her. "Not even you."

Loralei stepped away from him, her heart felt like it was being squeezed inside her chest. "Excuse me?"

"You're pregnant, Loralei!" Sirius told her. "I will not risk your health or our baby's health for any reason."

Loralei opened her mouth and then closed it. "So I will never see my nephew again? My brother? My best friend?"

"I don't know." Sirius told her.

"Well then this is unfair." Loralei told him. "You're willing to see our child fatherless if Voldemort finds out that you're secret keeper. Even if you tell him where they are they you wouldn't live."

"That's a sacrifice I'm willing to make." Sirius stated.

Loralei shook her head. "Without asking me." They both stared at each other for a moment.

"Loralei..."

"I'm going to go take a shower." She told him as she turned and walked towards the stairs.

"Loralei..." he started walking after her.

She spun around on the fifth step. "Stop, Sirius, just stop. It's not just about us anymore. It's about us and our child! How can you just not care what happens to you? What would happen if something happened to you? Do you think I'd just walk away like nothing happened? Do you think that nothing would change? Do you think I could live through that?"

"You have to."

"No, I don't. I couldn't do this without you, Sirius." Loralei told him, not allowing herself to cry she was so angry. She turned back around. "I can't talk about this right now."

"Loralei, we need to talk about this." He grabbed her wrist, making her face him again.

"Are you ready to be a father?" Loralei asked him, her face void of all emotions.

"What?" He asked, confused.

"It's a simple question. Are you ready to be a father?"

"Of course I am."

"Do you know what that entails? It means you have a little tiny human that looks to you for food, love, and above all, safety. You have to put that little person ahead of you. I think whatever you made the choice on proved that you are not ready." Loralei told him.

"Loralei I-"

"You didn't think." Loralei stated harshly. "That is exactly the problem. This doesn't just effect you. James and Lily have a child to look after. They should have not asked you at all. You have a family to look after too. It's about time you realize that."

"So I shouldn't help my friends? Help their son? Keep them safe? You can't ask me to choose." Sirius stated.

"Yes I can. I am." Loralei told him. "If you're not willing to stop doing your usual shit for this family..." She pointed towards the door. "Start walking."

Sirius' face looked like a kicked puppy for a moment before it steeled and he turned around and walked out, slamming the door behind him. The sound echoed through the house. Or maybe that was in Loralei's head. She wasn't sure. She felt like her world was crashing.

Loralei slowly sank to her knees. She couldn't believe he walked out.

Loralei could barely function for the next few weeks. She was somewhat happy that she was confined to a desk while Sirius was in the field. She wasn't ready to see him yet. Wounds too raw. Heart too broken. Her child wouldn't have a father.

Only Katie and Remus were the ones that knew as far as Loralei knew. It wasn't like she knew where to send her letter. It wasn't like she knew how to word the letter.

Katie brought her over ice cream while Remus said he would always be there for her. He would be the father figure to her child. But Loralei didn't know if she want anyone but Sirius to be the father. It still made her feel better.

The only thing that kept her going was her child. She still didn't know the sex, but she did know that the baby was healthy. Perfect. She had a feeling that Remus was passing the information along, but she didn't want to know. She didn't want to know if Sirius was fine or if he was hurting. She just didn't want to know.

Loralei always felt better around the Weasley's. So she went to visit them, and she told Molly what happened.

"Oh, honey." Molly frowned. "I'll make some tea."

Loralei held her arms out for Ronald, and Molly gave her the baby boy. Loralei cuddled him to her chest. She would have a baby of her own in the spring, she should get used to holding them. Fred and George whined for her attention as well, so she sat on the floor and started to play with all three of them until Molly came in with two cups of tea.

"Do you want to talk about it, or something else?"

"Maybe later when there aren't any kids around." Loralei told her, eyeing her three youngest.

Molly nodded. "You've been MIA to Order meetings, I take it that's why."

Loralei nodded. "I wonder if anyone cared."

"Trust me, the ones who know you do." Molly told her.

Loralei looked down. "The baby's healthy. I should start showing in a few weeks." Her hand moved to her slightly bloated abdomen. "Tell that to my pants, they're already starting to get tight." She smiled slightly.

"That's how it is." Molly told her. "Have you gotten any maternity clothes yet?"

Loralei shook her head. "Not yet. Haven't really felt like going out."

"How about you and I go shopping? I have stuff to do this weekend, but how about next? Sometime. You should get out of the house, and Arthur can take care of the kids for a few hours." Molly smiled.

Loralei nodded. "I'd like that."

Molly smiled. "Good. It's a date then.

Loralei had started to solely wearing leggings and baggy sweaters by the time she and Molly found time to go shopping together. Her baby bump was just starting to show on Halloween.

"Usually I can hide it under my work robes, but I don't want to wear them when I'm just at my house." Loralei told Molly as they walked into a shop.

Molly smiled. "I know how it is. That's how I was with Bill."

Loralei laughed. "Well I guess that means I'm not alone. I'm going to miss my old clothes."

"But you're young and a veela. I think you'll fit in them a few months after you have your baby." Molly paused. "Has Sirius at least tried to contact you about the baby?"

Loralei shook her head. "But I think that Remus is passing things along, the traitor."

"When was the last time you saw him?" Molly asked.

"When he walked out the door. He showed up when I was at work to get his stuff. He left his key on the kitchen table."

"Do you know where he is?" Molly asked.

"I don't know where anyone is. My brother and best friend are in hiding with their kid. My fiancé left me because I made his choose and he didn't choose me. I only know where Remus is because he lives with me." Loralei told her.

"So it's officially over?" She asked.

Loralei nodded.

"Then why are you still wearing the ring?" Molly asked softly.

Loralei looked down. She forgot to take it off. For two months she forgot that she wasn't supposed to wear it anymore. Her hands shook as she slipped it off her finger. "I forgot I had it on." She slipped it into a pocket of her purse so she wouldn't lose it; it was her mother's after all.

"It's officially over."

"And it doesn't matter. I will be the best damn single mother anyone has ever seen." Loralei said, keeping her voice quiet but strong. "I don't need a man to have a family. I have my kid."

"What would you do if he just showed up?" Molly asked. "I know you still love him."

"I will alway love him." Loralei was sure of that. "But that doesn't mean I forgive him. It's been two months. He can't expect me to just forgive him. He used to always come to the doctor's appointments with me, and now I go alone, or Katie goes with me."

"It's okay to say you're sad." Molly told her.

"I have a baby to be happy for. She won't make the same mistakes I did. I'll teach her what I didn't learn before it's too late."

"Like?"

"For one, don't fall in love with your brother's best friend. He's not going to choose you." Loralei said. "I learned that the hard way."

"He loves you." Molly told her. "You have to know that."

"Not enough for him to choose me. To choose his child." Loralei stated. "It wasn't meant to be, and we tried so hard. Maybe we should've just given it up after the first try."

"But what would've happened then? Something good must have come out of it." Molly said, hoping to cheer up her friend.

"I have my child."

A/N: Has anyone seen the big bang theory where it's valentines day and Penny gets Sheldon sick and she says, "Happy Valentines Day" so sarcastically it's great? Well, Happy valentines day. I don't celebrate it but if you do have fun!

Anyway. I honestly didn't mean for this to happen. The characters are running wild and I'm just trying to keep some of them alive. Sorry if this hurt you as much as it hurt me. I don't enjoy this. I was actualy crying on the couch and everyone around me was just like, "who died?" It's not okay.

But I do have a question: Would you rather have had someone die or this happen? I'm honestly curious.

Dauntless14: I'm sorry that hell has somewhat arrived. Thank you for your review!

C.B. Weasley: I love them both, but I love how Fred was more...reckless than George. Haha. I cried for weeks when he died. I've loved him for almost ten years and I still sometimes refuse to believe that he died. It's not easy to make me cry, but Fred can. Every time. Yes it is. As Dauntless said, everything is going to hell. Thank you so much!

.7: Does this mean it was a good chapter? A bad one? Do you feel anxious? Depressed? I don't know if that's a good, "..." or a bad, "..." and I'm feeling a little anxious because of it. Thanks for your review?

Blue Luver5000: Thank you darling!

Guest/Her-My-O-Knee: I feel ya. I don't log in whenever I'm on my phone. Haha. I actually have a Wattpad and I haven't thought to put it on there. Thanks for the idea! I think I'll to that when I have time this weekend. :) Thank you :)

Griffinclaw: It's all good! I just like being able to reply to them so if you review on Thursday I have enough time to put it in my next chapter :) Well, I'm going to go with the timeline so James and Lily died in 1981 and right now it's 1980.

To your "PPS" You know I can't answer that, but if you look at her character I'm sure you can guess exactly who she thinks Sirius is and what comes with that.

Please review, they make me the happiest person on earth!
