(Hestia's POV)
I finally have Four all to myself! Tris ran away crying, and it's just me now. She'll never get between Four and me again.
I look at Four, who is standing at the doorway.
"Four!" I call. But he doesn't give any response.
Shouldn't he be happy that I got rid of that loser for him?
Suddenly, a figure runs past me to Four, who is still standing, unmoving, at the doorway which Tris just ran out of. That figure then punches Four in the face in anger, but Four still gives no response. How dare he punch my Four in the face! That person then turns around and faces me. Oh, it's just Skye. He's so hot! But not as much as Four is, of course.
"I'll never forget this. You better watch your back!" that's all he says before he turns and runs out the door, shoving past Four in a rude manner. And here I was, thinking Skye wasn't all that bad. Guess not. Only Four's good enough for someone like me anyway.
(Skye's POV)
How dare they! I couldn't believe that Four would do something like that! Hestia, well, that was a different story. She was evil to begin with. But Four? Especially after proposing to Tris just a few days ago? Unbelievable. But I saw what happened. I saw Tris see Four and Hestia kissing. And Tris is like my sister. I won't forgive Four for this. Especially not when I saw Tris' face, the heartbroken expression, the grief-stricken emotion in her eyes. Especially not when I saw her run out, tears streaking down her face.
So I run out after her, to comfort her. To comfort my sister. Well, not really my sister, but since I consider Uriah as my brother and he considers Tris as his sister, we're technically sisters.
When I'm halfway down the hallway, I realize that Tris wouldn't have gone back to her apartment, the one she shared with Four. She probably went to Christina's then.
I turn on my heel and sprint to Christina's apartment, arriving within a minute.
I hear sobs inside. I was right, Tris is in there! Without a second thought, I knock on the door insistently.
"Go way, Four!" I hear Christina yell to me.
"Not Four!" I reply.
I hear a muffled sound and then the sobs slow for a second before they start again. The creak of a bed. Then footsteps.
Christina opens the door and sticks her head out and says to me, "Not now. Come back later. She's not in the best mood now, as you can see."
I bite my lip uncertainly, and then tell Christina that I'll go to the kitchens and steal some Dauntless-cake for her, and Christina nods, shutting the door.
I run down the hallway again, turn left, down this hallway, turn right, turn right again-
Oomph.
"So sorry, I didn't see you. I'm so—" I stop mid-ramble.
It was Aly!
"Hey…" she smiles uncertainly at me.
"Shouldn't you be training, Alyssa?" I ask.
"Four let us out. Said that we'll start tomorrow morning."
"Four let you out. I see. I wonder why. Probably to start sucking that stupid girl's face again." I can't help but be a little mean about Four. I mean, he did just kiss a slut in front of Tris. Tris, his fiancé!
"So where are you going?" she asks me.
"Getting some cake for Tris. Come with me?"
"Sure."
We jog quickly to the kitchen in a comfortable silence.
"Why would Six need cake?"
"She loves her cake," I smile, remembering last year when she threw some cake at my face and then realize what she did, and asked for another piece.
"I see."
By now, we've reached the kitchen, and I slip in, ducking behind a box labeled "Flour", Aly following my lead, but whisper-shouting, "You didn't say we were going to steal it!"
I grin at her slyly, but don't give any other response. Instead, I peak over the edge and when I see that the cooks are not near the shelf of cakes, I grab an entire one, a smaller one though, and then sprint out, Aly right behind me.
Just before I turned the corner, I heard someone say, "Val, didn't I just put a small cake on that shelf? I could have sworn I did!"
When I'm a safe distance away from the kitchen, I stop to catch my breath and Aly stops too, gasping to get some air in her lungs. Whoops. I forgot she came from a faction where no one ever ran for any reason.
"So… about what happened this mor-" she hesitantly begins.
"We're here," I interrupt. I didn't want to talk about what happened this morning. I knew it was stupid to think, even for a second, that she liked me. I was just another one of those annoying, loud, rude Dauntless boys.
I knock on the door and when Christina opens it, I give her the cake. I peek inside, but Tris isn't there.
"You guys go to lunch now. Thanks for the cake; I'll give it to Tris when she comes out of my room. And if you see Four, slap him for me," Christina tells us before shutting the door.
Okay then.
So Aly and I walk to the cafeteria, an uncomfortable silence between us this time.
We arrive, and she walks to the table where Snow and the other girl, Tess, Tesa, I don't know, is sitting at, and I walk to the table where the Dauntless-born initiates are sitting at.
I wonder if Tris will show up tomorrow for training.
I spot Hestia.
Immediately, I change directions and walk to her. Since I didn't see Four anywhere, I'll just give the slap to her instead.
"Oww!" she complains, holding her face.
She glares at me, and I glare back.
"What was that for?!"
"For being an asshole, Candork!"
"Oh shut up! You know that some loser like Tris doesn't deserve someone like Four anyway."
"Tris is ten times the person you are! And yes, Tris doesn't deserve Four. Only some stupid Candork like you deserve an idiot like Four. Oh yea, I have a gift for you. From Tris."
"You do?" her eyes light up. She must think it's a good thing then. Well, surprise, surprise. It's not.
I punch her in the face, effectively knocking her out. She deserved it.
Stepping over her, I walk to the table I usually sit at, but not before yelling to the person nearest to me that an initiate was knocked out, someone might have to send her to the infirmary.
(Alyssa's POV)
Is that Hestia? And Skye?
What's he doing with some senseless idiot like her?
Ouch—he just slapped her. I can't help but feel a little satisfied.
I watch them talk for a little while, and they both have a little fire in their eyes. Suddenly, he punches Hestia in the face. Go Skye! I smile a little bit. She completely deserved it.
"Aly!" I turn to face Snow, who just called my name.
"Yea?"
"Who were you just watching?" she asks, with a playful light in her eyes.
"Um… Skye… Why?"
She turns to face Tesa and says to her, "You know what I saw this morning?"
"What?" Tesa inquired, curiosity laced in her voice.
"I saw Aly-" Snow began.
"Don't we see her every day?" Tesa asked, confused.
"Let me finish! Anyway, I saw Aly. With a boy. A Dauntless-born boy."
I turned around and walked away a crimson flush to me cheeks, but Snow grabbed me and pushed me onto the bench.
"Humph." I crossed my arms and averted by eyes, still blushing brightly, I'm sure.
"As I was saying, Aly was with a Dauntless-born initiate. The one that spoiled the location of the flag, blondie, on our team from Capture the Flag—that initiate."
"What was his name?"
"Skye."
I opened my mouth and said, "Now that Tesa knows, can I walk away and hide my face in shame?"
"Nope!" Snow replied cheerfully. "I still need to interrogate you!"
"Ughhhh. Fine. Go ahead," I pouted.
"It's okay, we'll start with easy questions. What's his name?"
"Skye," I smiled at the feel of his name on my lips.
"How old is he?"
"Our age, obviously. Aren't you going to ask any real questions? I know you're dying to," I smirked.
"You want me to ask you real questions?" Snow smiled, mischief glinting from her eyes, "What were you doing with Skye in the morning?"
"I had a nightmare. And then I bumped into him in the hallway."
"Mhmm. What else?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Nothing else! We just talked until you came and yelled at me to go change."
"What were you talking about?"
Okay this wasn't an open topic for discussion. Suddenly, Skye slides next to me onto the bench, and says to Snow, "Nothing that concerns you."
That obviously wasn't the right answer, because Snow laughs and says, "And it concerns you? We're her friends! Last time I checked, you didn't even know her before Capture the Flag!"
"Who ever said that?!" he replied indignantly.
Snow narrowed her eyes, but before she could say anything, Tesa butted in and asked in a suspicious voice, "Why are you here? How did you know what we were talking about? Are you stalking us? Or more likely, Aly?"
Skye looks uncomfortable, and so I answer for him, "He wasn't stalking me, or any of us. Don't use the term 'stalking' so easily. He just wanted to talk, right Skye?"
"Uh… right."
Snow raises her eyebrows, "So what do you want to talk about?"
"Um. Nothing."
"Then bye!" Tesa says, shoving Skye off the table. Or attempting to. It's rather hard to shove a block of muscle off a bench. Skye looks at Tesa, amused, "Were you trying to shove me off?"
She stammers, saying, "Um… Uh… N—I wasn't!"
"I'll leave anyway," he says, and I can't help but feel a little deflated. "But I'm taking Alyssa with me, and you have no choice about it!"
"Hey!" Snow and Tesa protests, but I am already being dragged out of the cafeteria by Skye's strong grip.
We finally stop at the corner of a hallway, a good few yards away from the cafeteria entrance/exit.
"It's like those Amity stories, where the handsome prince rescues the beautiful girl," Skye muses.
I flush with color, and manage to say, "First of all, you're not handsome. Secondly, I'm not beautiful, so stop. And third of all, I didn't need rescuing! Those were my friends."
"You looked really uncomfortable. It looked like you needed my rescuing!" he protest.
"Sure, sure, whatever helps you sleep at night. Anyway, why'd you really drag me out here?"
"You were…" he scratches his neck in a hesitant way "Well, you were going to say something about what happened this morning. Be-before I interrupted you. Remember, when we were getting cake for Tris?"
I bite my lip. "Yea, I was."
"So what did you want to say?"
"Nothing of importance."
"Oh really?" he smirks. "Your blush begs to differ."
"Nothing! Honestly!"
"I'm not Candor, and I know that you're lying. You were saying something about what happened this morning. What were you saying? Tell me!" he pleads.
"Why do you care so much what I was going to say to you?" I finally say after a full minute.
It's his turn to look away now. Ha. I think to myself.
"Never mind," he replies, pink dotting his cheeks.
"Tell me!" I demand.
Two people walk out and toward us. It's Snow and Tesa. "You're so blind, Aly!"
"Who's stalking Aly now?" Skye asks playfully.
"We weren't stalking her! We just happened to find her talking to Dauntless-born initiate who could very well hurt her, so we felt obligated to find her! Besides, if you wanted privacy, you should have gone somewhere else other than the outside of the cafeteria, genius!"
"Not everyone's as smart as you are, Snow!" Skye protests.
"Wait—how am I blind?" I asked, bewildered.
"Can't you see?" Snow pulls me closer and whispers into my ear, "He likes you!"
I flush with color again. I find myself doing that a lot lately. "He doesn't. Someone like him would have a lot of girls waiting on line for him."
"What are you guys talking about," Skye asks.
"Nothing," Snow replies and shoves me away and into Skye, who automatically closes his arms around me. Ugh. Now Snow's giggling. When Skye realizes what he did a millisecond later, he releases me, and says, "Let's go somewhere else. I know where."
Without waiting for me to reply, he breaks into a run, holding my hand.
I try my hardest to keep up, but I can't. In Amity, we never ran for anything. That's part of the reason why so many people couldn't escape the Great Fire that occurred a few years ago.
A few seconds later, Skye grows exasperated at my slow pace and picks me up. Why does he keep doing things like this? Was Snow right? Did he honestly like me?
Finally, we are able to outrun Snow and Tesa. Or Skye is. Even when he's carrying me.
He sets me down on a rock.
"Where are we," I finally ask. I couldn't see when he was running. He simply ran too fast. I had a little theory though. But it was impossible.
"Under the chasm," he replies easily. Never mind, my theory was correct.
"What?!" Did he have a death wish? Four and Six clearly told us that you could die by jumping into the chasm!
"It's okay, relax. I found this place a few years ago when I was playing hide and seek. The water won't reach you unless you jump into the water from that ledge when you turn the corner."
"Uh… Okay… So you were saying…?" I being.
"I wasn't saying anything. You were going to say something."
"No, you were. You were going to answer my question."
"What question?"
"Why were you so curious for what I was going to say to you?" I repeat.
"Um… Okay how about this. I will tell you why after you tell me what Snow said to you."
"NO!" I had no desire to repeat to Skye was Snow said to me. Simply too embarrassing.
"Tell me!" he demands.
"No."
"Tell me!"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Just… because."
Finally, he just huffs and said, "Well this was a waste. What do you want to do now?"
I think for a few seconds before replying. "You know how we were going to do fighting techniques today?"
"Yea…?"
"Teach me some! That way, I can know something at least when Four and Six teach us some tomorrow. I don't want to be horrible at it. Granted, no other initiate probably knows how to fight, but still!"
"Okay then," he says after a moment. "Let's go to Training Room 1."
Yes! I can't wait to learn something new so I won't be overshadowed by anyone. And with Skye teaching me, I'm bound to be learning a lot. I just hope I don't die first.
A/N: So yea... Horrible ending, I know. I'm trying though, to not make it that horrible.
fanficforyou: Hestia might become factionless. Or worse. Tobias might try to explain to Tris, but who ever said that Tris would listen? :P
Queen Elphaba of The Vinkus: What are you confused about? Lol, who likes Hestia?
luvdivergentforever: Thank you :) Is this early enough? I tried dropping everything to update but Life's too busy (sigh) THe scary part is, I don't even know what tired really means yet
NotJustAShadow: Thanks for reviewing, first of all. The movie was alright, wasn't it? Not as good as the book though. You really like this FanFiction taht much? That means a lot. Thank you :) I feel that I haven't done a good enouhg job capturing the characters' personality, but I am trying, so I'm very glad that you find it good. If you actually like Hestia and Jose, that'd be scary... :P If someone can shoot Hestia? Lol, unfortunately, I have already planned something evil for her, but guns can be involved if you wish it to. Skylyssa will grow eventually. This chapter is just a little bridge between friends and a little more than friends (which will be displayed in the next few chapters). Four will, of course, try to get Tris back, but I will warn you that it will take a lot of time!
Artofskating: Is unexpected good? Or bad? Tris will do something to get back at Hestia, that's for sure! But what about her and Four? What will Tris do to Four? Hmmm...
divergentoverblood: Lol "Hestia's eye is next!" Don't worry, Hestia's revenge will be given, but it won't be the eye. Sorry :/ Tris will get revenge on Hestia. Promise. :P
Booklover4610: Percabeth is my OTP :) IKR! Off with Hera's head! But she can't truly split Percabeth. Not even Tartarus can! Ugh~ WHY WOULD YOUR FRIEND SPOIL BoO FOR YOU?! UGHHH. Tris will get her revenge with Hestia's head soon enough. In the next chapter, or the next.
iwishicouldfly14: You shall wait no longer! :P Here's your chapter ^
fourtris4ever26: First reviewer for this chapter! :DD I updated ^ Glad that you enjoy the story ^.^
QOTC:
Should I kill Hestia off? JK. The real question is: What do you think Tris will do to Hestia?
I'll update soon, 'kay?
