- Charge of the Raging Minotaur Guardian
Drawing out her dual pistols, Lara scanned every inch of the new environment. They had delved into the lower levels of the tomb, acknowledging the fact that they were being hunted down. This brought them to a network of passageways, as the group were now within a medium-sized corridor which was part of the maze. Alongside her, the rest of the team had brought out their weapons too, ready to attack the monstrosity that was coming for them at a quick pace. Suddenly, the fiend came into full view as it slid loudly to the left side of the long passage. It too was within the walls of the labyrinth, fury blazing in it's eyes, nostrils flared as it saw the new intruders.
"RUN!"
The Minotaur prepared it's first charge with horns aiming directly at the new enemies. The group however managed to skip pass the line of attack and onto the next aisle.
CRASH!
Hammering against the stone wall head first, the Minotaur was knocked temporarily unconscious. With this opportunity available, the group began to hastily form an idea to battle this new terror standing in their path of getting the next artefact.
"We have to come up with a plan, otherwise we are easy prey for this Minotaur!" Tim worryingly expressed to the group.
"Let's split up, the least we could do is try outwitting and confusing the beast" Lara quickly suggested, they all seemed to be in agreement with the idea.
"Okay...Tim, you and Lara, you go this way whilst me and Ayesha will head on through here. Let's defeat this creature once and for all!" Eric agreed with confidence in his voice, reassured that the group splitting up was the best thing to do in the situation they were in.
Carefully, taking slow silent steps towards the still-senseless monster lying on the labyrinth floor, both Lara and Tim opened fire on the being. The impact from the three pistols had some effect on the Minotaur, but once it got back up on its feet, it gave one almighty painful howl.
RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRR R!
The ear-piercing roar echoed throughout the narrow walls of the maze, everyone had to cover and protect their ears. Looking at the Minotaur once again, the furious wrath was immense and grew ever more inside it, Lara could see it in it's eyes and body language. Despite the burning rage the beast must have cumulated, Lara and Tim continued their firing on the monster. Every shot counted, as the beast screamed in agony in response. With it's teeth gritted tightly together, it dragged the right foot repeatedly, springing the dust that was resting on the floor upwards. Then with muscles tensed, the Minotaur charged with all its might for the duo.
"MOVE!"
Just in a nick of time, they barely dodged the charge. With the Minotaur merely scrapping passed Tim's shoulder, it instead went after Ayesha and Eric. In full pursuit of the enemy, Lara and Tim carried on firing a spray of bullets at its figure. However, it soon went into the left direction closely trailing behind Ayesha and Eric. By the time Lara and Tim reached the next corner the Minotaur had disappeared from sight.
"Where did it go?" Tim anxiously queried, being watchful at every speck of the corridor they were currently in.
"I don't know, be watchful though, it could appear from anywhere unexpectedly" Lara forewarned him.
"Right, you look front and I will look back, let's get this beast!" Tim told the plan to her, Lara nodded to the initiative.
They followed on with the notion, Tim turned his back aiming his gun at the empty corridor. Lara took her stance at the front, her dual pistols at the ready for when the Minotaur could appear from nowhere. Not only did they hear the noises of the Minotaur's hoofs hounding throughout the maze, but also the heavy breathing of themselves and their fellow companions.
Which direction were they heading? Gunfire was heard next up ahead, so quickly both Lara and Tim darted towards the sound. The Minotaur threw it's mighty hammer fist, targeting it's uncontested tense strength at Ayesha and Eric. Barely in time Ayesha managed to duck and miss the strike, however Eric was more unfortunate. He was struck in his abdomen and instantly knocked off his feet from the tough impact.
"Ooooffff" Eric painfully bellowed out, clenching his stomach as he fell to the floor.
Moments later and just in the nick of time, Lara and Tim came round the corner right before the monster tried for another punch. Once again, ammunition shells of bullets came whizzing out of the trio of pistols. Luckily for Eric, he was able to get up and had only sustained minor injuries.
"GO NOW!" Lara shouted across to Ayesha and Eric, and without delay both obeyed. They ran away to the next series of passageways in the labyrinth. Now the Minotaur turned it's full concentration on the other two.
RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRR R!
There was a definite sign of determination to overcome the duo in the roar of the monstrosity. With it's overgrown nails, the Minotaur heavily scratched the wall leaving a deep five star mark in it's wake. Midway through the fiends' charge, it began to lower it's head into a bow, revealing the two sharp horns that were on both sides of it's temple. During this action, Lara and Tim had moved from their current position and back into the passage they had come from, though they sustained their firing pursuit. But misfortune was to fall upon the duo, as they shortly came into an abrupt stop.
"No...a dead-end" Lara expressed in disbelief.
"What are we going to do? Any minute and that creature would come around the corner!" Tim fearfully shrieked.
"I know..." Lara tried thinking of a plan to dodge the Minotaur's inevitable attack.
The beast had them trapped to where it wanted them to be. In those tense few moments awaiting for it's arrival, Lara and Tim tried to think of plan to thwart the Minotaur. Then in the spur of the moment, it appeared. Grinding it's foot once again to the ground, it gave a furious snarl, and began it's charging sprint towards the humans. Eyes fully fixed on it's targets, what happened next was not what the Minotaur had expected.
They still were rapidly firing at the seemingly bullet proof beast, but as the Minotaur got nearer, Lara and Tim made their move. Both had different approaches of outmanoeuvring the monster. Tim used any of the remaining space in the pathway to sideline the creature, scarcely avoiding the kneecap of the Minotaur's' leg. Because of this, Lara had to do something else to evade the charge down, and she began to run straight to the end wall. As planned the Minotaur took the bait and followed Lara right down to the wall, thinking it had caught her at last and that there was no escape for her.
Lara was only about three feet from the wall when she made her first step up onto the wall. Using the momentum she gained, Lara managed to literally dash up the wall, and on the final step she used all of her lasting strength to kick against the wall.
THUD!
During and after performing a back-flip from the dead-end barrier, Lara saw the Minotaur smashing head first into the wall. Due to the sheer force it exerted against the foundation, the Minotaur was now fully stuck and left vulnerable for attack. Lara aimed her dual pistols at the helpless struggling creature and unleashed a load of bullets upon it's physique. A little soon after Tim joined forces with her again and he too fired at the Minotaur. Having pierced through it's armour, the Minotaur gave one closing howling cry, and subsequently became motionless.
"Phew, that as a tough fight. That took quite a few bullets, I'm almost out of ammo"
"Yeah it was, I thought..."
Their very short conversation was interrupted by a blinding light Lara had previously seen before in India. Staring at where the Minotaur had fallen, the brilliant light was getting closer and closer and eventually they were sucked into it's strong vortex.
