- Bite of the Ferocious Killer Shark Guardian

Leaving the Captain's Quarters, Kurtis and Lara were now in the sea's open area. In a rush of panic and anticipation of an attack, they were carefully watching high and low waiting to see if the animal would show itself. Seconds passed by with nothing happening... They were about to ease off the search of what Lara saw earlier, when Kurtis's senses warned him of sudden danger and just in time he managed to push Lara out of the way, as in one swift move out of nowhere the jaws of a beast shot up like a rocket.

Having just missed being chomped up by the new enemy by a mere few inches, Lara and Kurtis now saw what they were going to fight against. A huge killer shark was now in their eye-vision, and it was of unbelievable incredible size. It certainly wasn't going to let them go without a battle. The duo would have to be quick to defeat this beast, as they were already at a disadvantage being there on the shark's territorial turf, and if they get caught within it's razor sharp teeth it would be the end of them.

The shark swam in a circle above them, just watching, planning and behaving like a predator waiting patiently to catch its prey. Lara didn't hesitate to make her move, she took aim at the great shark with her spear gun and she fired. Click, SSSWWWIIISSSHHH! The harpoon shot straight out of the weapon and into the line of where the shark was pondering. Though the harpoon didn't hit the shark directly, it did however create a painful cut on it's body. In an angry reaction to this torment, at speed the shark dived down in pursuit of Lara!

Instantly Lara tried to swim away from its wide opening mouth, but there was a frightful sound tailing at her feet.

CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH!

Lara didn't dare look back. All she could do now was swim as fast as she can, but even that was taking a bit of a toll. She felt herself starting to get a bit tired and aching from the stamina-draining swimming.

'Oi! Pick on someone your own size!' Kurtis thought crossly, as he did his best to catch up with the chase. Unfortunately unlike Lara he didn't have a spear gun with him, so he decided to use his mysterious Chirugai he had brought with him. Using his special abilities Kurtis's Chirugai came out of it's holder and began to spin rapidly, as if it was charging up. Once it got to a maximum spin velocity underwater, Kurtis unleashed it to attack the shark. The five blades of the Chirugai managed to deeply cut the large beast on it's side and then the Chirugai returned to Kurtis.

A roar of bubbles came out of the grills and mouth of the shark along with the sound of a howling growl. In a rage of fury and burning fire, it abandoned it's chase after Lara and started to go after Kurtis. The beast dove lower down in the water to gather up energy for it's next move. Lara then realised that she was no longer being pursued by the enemy, so in turn she again targeted the shark with her harpoon gun.

Click, SSSWWWIIISSSHHH!

'Blast! Missed!' Lara cursed as she saw the shark dodging the harpoon by swiftly turning to the left. She reloaded the spear gun, and tried to take aim of the shark again but this time around it disappeared...

'Where have you gone?'

Meanwhile Kurtis at this point had swam closer to where she was, keeping his eye on the shark's movements until it vanished into darkness. Everything was still for a minute or two with the duo looking out at every angle of what they could see in the misty water. Just when they thought they could safety swim back up to the speedboat, out of nowhere the shark returned and at pace it darted at Kurtis's direction. Looking right into it's new victims' eyes, and focusing all of its remaining energy on him, the shark opened it's biting mouth once more.

CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH!

Kurtis managed to grab hold of the great beast and stopped it in it's tracks. Whilst he was wrestling the shark using the help of his unique abilities, Lara took this opportunity and angled her harpoon shooter right on course, and pulled the trigger. The ferocious shark gave a whaling cry as the harpoon went directly into it's body.

RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

A perfect shot, but it didn't stop trying to get a vicious bite out of Kurtis. Down to the last harpoon she had available, Lara had to make this one count otherwise it would become more difficult to take down the beast. She placed the last spear into the gun and for one final time Lara targeted the furious shark...

Click, SSSWWWIIISSSHHH! The shark finally gave up it's confrontation of the duo and had now fallen still.

Lara quickly checked on Kurtis to make sure he was alright after the shark's sudden ongoing assault from a few moments ago. He gave a thumbs up to Lara letting her know he was indeed okay. She was relieved to know that he was, and now they had a clear path back to the speedboat.

Yet a bright light started seeping out of the motionless body of the shark and Lara knew what this meant...This shark was a guardian...Straight after that trail of thought, both Kurtis and Lara were drawn into it's powerful whirlwind.
