- The Penultimate Confrontation
The ever-growing beast had now grown to the size of the stadium's stand ceiling. Any speck of Eric Copper's existence had now been engulfed by this terrifying monster. Various vicious horns had shot right out of the creature's head, shoulders and some at the back of it's body. It opened it's red pupil-less beady eyes and scarcely enough sometimes they were glowing and sometimes they weren't, like someone flicking a light switch on and off. It gave off a horrendous very low growl that shook the ground. The new monster was ready to attack anything that stood in it's way.
With precious time now ticking away, Kurtis was struggling to get his secure binds off. He took a deep breath and using all his strength and power he successfully snapped the binds in two. Kurtis moved over to his right side and helped untie Lara of her handcuffs. Without any sort of weapons on them as they had been taken away by Eric's bodyguards, how were they going to overcome this fiend?
Two helicopters came flying from above the Olympic Stadium, beams of spotlights were scattered upon the creature as they tried to identify what on earth it was and target the threat. This was when decided to show off it's mighty strength.
RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
It reached out to one of the choppers and took grasp of it. Everyone on-board quickly abandoned the helicopter before the monster had crushed it into a metal ball. Targeting the other flying machine that was in range, the unidentifiable creature threw the trashed ball at a fast rate. Immediately the helicopter lost control of it's attitude and crashed sideways on the ground. All Lara and Kurtis could do was watch the horror that was happening before them, whilst they did their best to come up with a plan from the stadium stands.
"We now have less than 15 minutes to find a way to beat this thing, and every second we waste it becomes stronger!"
"I don't know what we can do...but we mustn't give up though, there must be a way..."
Their short-lived conversation was soon interrupted however as they were spotted in plain sight by the beast. It gave a snarling deep roar and tried to grab both Kurtis and Lara with one of it's humongous palms.
"MOVE!"
Lara and Kurtis rolled away in opposite directions from the attempted attack. In anger of missing the duo the dangerous being swiftly changed it's tactic. It clenched it's fists so tightly that they were like two big sledgehammers and it began pounding the stadium stands. Feeling the tension of the continuous jabbing upon the sloped platforms, the duo did their best to stay on their feet while running across the stands, but it wasn't enough...
The non-stop violent impacts eventually swept both of them off their footing and they tumbled right onto the track and field, just where the creature wanted them. Backing off from it's previous strikes, the monster charged up for it's next line of assaults. As Kurtis and Lara got up on their feet, the ground started to shake aggressively. It's gravitational powers were at work here, and it had changed the open field. Sharp rocks started shooting up from the ground, and they were particularly aimed at the creature's enemies. Using her gymnast and aerobic abilities to the full, Lara managed to dodge most the shot up pillars of stone, though she did struggle with outmanoeuvring some of them, escaping barely with cuts and light bruises.
Kurtis fared more or less the same as Lara, and although he didn't possess her level of agility, he still evaded most of the hazardous rocks that sprouted up too. In spite of this though it was all part of the fiend's plan to get them closer to itself. Inevitably, Lara and Kurtis drew nearer to the beast, and as soon as they were within range with the knowledge that they were still being distracted by the rocks, the tyrant began to tease them by gradually closing both of it's hands together with them right in the middle.
"NO!" The duo exclaimed, now seeing the real plan the creature had in mind. But by then it was already too late and they were about to be enclosed within it's power.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Out of nowhere the sound of bullets came tearing through the creature's body and it was taken aback by so many. Lara took the opportunity to see who it was that was shooting against the retreating stunned monster.
"Ayesha!" Lara called out to her. Ayesha stopped firing her gun for a moment and looked over to Lara.
"Hey Lara!" She waved and Kurtis and Lara hastily went over to where she was.
"You're free from Eric's control!" Kurtis surprisingly stated.
"Indeed I am, here are your weapons those guards had taken from you earlier." Ayesha smiled. She gave back Lara her dual pistols and Kurtis his Boran X and mysterious Chirugai.
"Thanks Ayesha, it's great seeing you back." Lara ecstatically said giving her friend who'd she lost a couple of days ago a big hug.
"Same here." Ayesha responded and hugged Lara back in return.
"Yeah thanks Ayesha, we owe you one!" Kurtis stated as he came over to hug her too.
"No problem Kurtis, now let's get back to the fight and triumph over this monstrosity!" Ayesha confidently pointed to the beast. Having recovered from the bombardment of bullets, the creature gave out a ghastly growl and slammed it's fists on the ground furiously.
RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Everywhere had shaken like an earthquake along with two substantial holes made by the intimidating creature destroying anything that was presently there before. In response the trio did not hesitate to aim their guns at the monster's torso and without any further delay they fired. Hundreds of shells flew out at high speed and directly into the creature, hurting and stunning it. The triple attack was proving to be effective, but overall it wasn't enough to bring the beast down. Instead it oddly began to form a protective barrier to the oncoming projectiles and it's eyes glistened even more. Kurtis tried to use his Chirugai as a way of distracting the fiend and cut through it's defence, but it made no difference as it only made a little dent to the monster's muscular body.
Dark clouds started to form above the stadium in the night sky. Electricity was charging up within the atmosphere, and it was plain to see what was going on. The creature had gained a new ability of being able to control the weather, effectively making Ayesha, Kurtis and Lara vulnerable to an elemental thunderous attack. Promptly an alarming shocking lighting bolt from the skies was summed by the beast and it was directed to where they were.
ZZZZZAAAAAPPPPPPP!
The battle was now in upper hand for the massive colossus. They've just scarcely avoided being electrocuted and fried, and the trio knew time was nearly up for them and for Earth itself. That strike took a lot of energy for the giant to conjure up and it had to recover, during which the three of them regrouped in the valuable time they had.
"We need more firepower!" Kurtis alerted the group as they came together.
"I'm afraid these weapons are all we have..." Ayesha sorrowfully said.
"Blast! We're running out of time!" Lara warned in frustration, as there was only around two minutes left until the creature will reach it's maximum potential and become unstoppable.
"Kurtis! Lara!" The unforeseen sound of two familiar voices were heard shouting across the field. The three of them swivelled round to see Professor Bowmane and Jane moving as fast as they could towards them, they were each holding the solution to their dilemma.
"Jane! Professor Bowmane! Gosh, are we glad to see you!"
"Sorry we're late, got caught up in traffic on the way here!" Professor Bowmane apologetically said.
"No worries, you've brought exactly what we needed to take-down this curse." Kurtis inquired to them.
"Yes we thought these would come in handy for the battle, anyway no time like the present, here you go!" Jane answered.
They presented and gave the RPG-7's to the duo. Both took hold of the powerful rocket launchers, with one of them taking aim for the tyrant's head while the other had the stomach of the beast in their sight.
"Ready...FIRE!"
