Chapter 4

Location: Shadow of Justice
Time: 10:19

(Kará's P.O.V.)

After hours of interrogation, and he did not give up any information. I admired that; he is loyal to his alliance, but now my career is at stake.

"Take him back to his cell," the Prophet said, aggravated. The honor guard acknowledged and took him back. As soon as they left, "Gods, he is stubborn. 4 hours of no progress. He is valuable enough, maybe we could hold him as ransom," he said, rubbing his temples in annoyance.

"No, if we do, the humans will know we are here and counter our plans," I said.

"True, I should've not allowed my annoyance to make my decision. You do have a great mind set and were able to apprehend a SPARTAN, alive. They are very resilient warriors, they can match some elites in combat, but you prevailed. So you're worthy enough to keep your position, and not only that, but I want you to command this vessel. with the death of Uszé, you're now in charge. Do not disappoint me," he said. "I will be staying for a few more days, hoping to get some Intel out of the human. By the end of the last day, I hope to have enough to tell the higher prophets along with full force heading to the location of Earth when he gives it. Luckily, he is from there, so he knows where it is, and when he gives us the information we need with your help, I will promote you to Supreme Commander and have you as my lead Honor Guard protector. If he does not give us what we want, he will be executed by you in front of the army." He left with his four guards.

I sighed, I was glad that I had my own ship now, but I felt slightly bad about how Scotty will be executed, but I took my mind off of it. I went to go talk to Jen and tell her what happened. I went to go look for her. I walked around the ship and found her in the cafeteria. She was talking to Kel, a Ruutian Kig-yar, whom she was courting. I approached them, and Kel left.

"I will talk to you later Kel," she said, smiling and waving.

"You appear to be a good mood," I smirked.

"Well Kel said we should go on another date next week," she said happily.

"It seems you are more than excited to go."

"Of course, we haven't had a real date since the last time we were on a planet," she sighed, "so how did the interrogation go?"

"Not well. He did not give any Intel on the humans or where Earth was, although I did get to keep my rank and also gained control of this ship," I said.

"What will the Prophet do with the human?" she asked.

"Well he is residing here for a few days. He hopes to get information out of him, though if he does not, he will be killed, by me" I said, sighing slightly.

"You don't seem to fond of that decision," she said in an inquisitive way.

"Well, I do not think he should be killed entirely. He did get rid of Uszé, and that helped me snap out of my infatuation for him. Though he did kill all my squadron and put my career at stake, he did help keep it and allowed me to earn this ship. So really he is not entirely a bad being; he is an excellent fighter and loyal to his army," I said weighing the good and bad of him.

"It is too bad that we are fighting humans, because he seems like he would be a strong and valuable ally."
I nodded, "Have you heard from Mirabilus?"

"No, I think she was deployed to another colony," Jen shrugged.

"Do you know the date when she will return?" I asked.

She shook her head.

"I should go check on my prisoner now, since we need him alive to tell us the information ."

Jen nodded and went to get in line for lunch. I left and headed to the prison block. I was pondering how to get him to give up the information, but the Prophet had tried reason, ultimatums, and threats to no avail.

I looked into the cell holding, and I saw Scotty performing pull ups on the doorway of the washroom.

"233.. 234.. 235.." he said with each pull up, he spread his arms further apart so he could look out of his cell. "You know you guys are going to have to try harder to interrogate me to make me give up any information."

"We can resort to violence if needed," I said becoming annoyed of the arrogance of the human.

He jumped down and said. "There probably isn't anything you can do to me or anyone here that I haven't experienced worse pain during boot camp or during genetically enhanced surgery."

I tried to hold my anger and not allow the smug attitude of the human to get to me. "You are lucky that I need to keep you alive for only a short time, then I will be killing you myself," I said, smiling with pure evil.

"If your entire squadron couldn't kill me, what make you think you can?" he boastfully said.

"You are in a small cell with no where to run and in the heart of the Covenant vessel, so you are at no advantage," I informed.

"True as that may be, but you need me alive, so I can just choose when to give information and when not to, as well. I could just allow you to kill me and you gain nothing, or keep me alive, and may gain something. Your choice."

I was fuming with anger as his smugness was high, but a slight understanding went through me. "Your arrogancy will be the death of you, and you will soon meet your demise if that tongue keeps it way."

He grinned, "Awww is the baby elite getting angry?"

I roared in anger, deactivated the shields on a remote and entered the cell, activating them as soon as I entered. I scaled the human up, seeing if there were any weak points I could take advantage of to my benefit. I did not notice anything too particular, maybe he still was wounded from the skirmish we had. I briefly recalled he had blood running from his mouth when his helmet came off and landed hard against the wall, so body damage would still be there. I charged him,he action-rolled out of the way, and a sharp pain came from my side, as he was able to punch me in the hip.

"You're going to have to try harder than that. I'm more at advantage here as I am smaller and can maneuver easier than you," he said smugly.

"True as may be, but with our two body masses in here, there is only so much room you can be able to move towards before you are cut off and nowhere to evade," I said matter-of-factly.

I then turned around quickly, elbowing him in the face, causing him to step back a few spaces.

"Do you want to honestly continue this duel?" I asked, knowing I would win.

"It doesn't bother me. We SPARTANS tend to heal quickly, so when you or something else hurts us, our wounds tend to heal very rapidly, due to our surgical procedures," he shrugged and said nonchalantly as if there weren't any worries in the world.

"If that is the case, then my actions should not bother you,"

"I said I heal quickly, this doesn't mean that I'm a human punching bag," he said, annoyed.

I grinned as I had the thought of just continuous attacks upon him. "Well I could just volunteer you for the position of human affairs and have everyone's anger and frustration be taken out on you. I am sure every being here would love to get to have a chance at that, and the only thing keeping you alive and well is me, so I suggest you to acknowledge me as your superior and give the respect that I truly deserve," I said getting a little excited from that as it seemed to be a well thought-out ultimatum.

"Me?! Respect the YOU?! I will never give respect towards the Covenant, not after what all they have done to us. You have slaughtered our kind down to little to no existence. You burned our planets. You destroyed everything we have and you dare ask for RESPECT?! I'D SOON KILL MYSELF NOW BEFORE I EVEN GIVE ONE FARTHING OF RESPECT TOWARDS YOU!" he shouted full of anger. "YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH HATRED I HAVE TOWARDS YOU AND YOUR LITTLE ARMY!"

I stiffened as I anticipated an attack from him. He charged at me, and I quickly countered it, evading to the side, kicking him in the back. He groaned as he was still probably injured from the quarrel from earlier. I saw him quickly turning on his heels to face me and this charade kept up for a several minutes until finally, he grinned and started to laugh. I quickly thought he had placed me in a trap, and I scanned the area, but nothing came to my attention.

"Maybe he has gone insane; I better tread carefully," I thought.

I waited for his next attack to come. He slowly walked to me and sized me up.

"I find this kinda funny and almost ironic," he smiled

"What do you mean?" I asked backing up slowly.

"You're fighting style is almost complete contradictory to your species, and it reminds me of an old friend," he chuckled.

I watched carefully as he continued to approach me and my hand ready on my sword. He came close to my ear and he whispered, "Hey," I shivered as he did that. "You know you are kinda cute and I.." He quickly had kneed me in the stomach and I curled over.

(Scotty's P.O.V.)

I quickly searched her for the remote control to the shield. I found it and deactivated the shields rushing out of them before she could move and reactivate them, locking her in. I threw it down and ran, in search of the docking bay. I snuck around trying to look for any signs of my disappearance or that the female elite is missing, but none showed. I had found the ship's control room and alongside that a map of the ship, I quickly scanned it and left following the fastest route to the docking bay,

"Attention all personal, the prisoner has escaped. We need him captured, alive." Kará's voice came over the inter comm.

"So much for a quiet escape," I thought. I need to move quickly. I ran as I was going through the main halls, trying to avoid being spotted. I heard a large mass of feet running towards me, and I hid behind a crate. They soon passed, and I darted almost near the hangar. Suddenly, as soon as I arrived upon the bay, the Prophet from earlier met me face-to-face, and his guards quickly surrounded me.

"Where do you think you're headed to, my little friend?" he asked, smiling as he knew I had been trapped.

I was forced into a corner by the guards, and a 4 on 1 fight seemed hardly fair. The left guard tried to grab my arm to cuff me, but I punched him in the chest. A second guard came from behind me, and I quickly superkicked him in the mandibles, knocking him down. The third guard took his staff and tried to swing at me, which I barely countered by rolling to the side, leg sweeping him, causing him to fall to the ground. The fourth guard had grabbed me by my helmet and picked me up, slamming me into the wall forcefully numerous times. Upon the third strike, I released the clamps holding my helmet to my suit, which made me fall to the ground. I kicked the guard straight in the balls, making him roar in extreme pain and curl over onto the ground. I turned around to see the Prophet starting to panic. I ran to him, jumped onto his chair, and started punching on him. Suddenly I felt a sharp electrical charge to my neck, and as I looked down the Prophet was able to manage to break a staff to a taser and stuck it to my neck.

"Didn't expect this, did you?" he laughed maniacally and raised the charge. I shouted in pain as it intensified, and I started to lose consciousness. I tried to reach his hand to pull the taser away from my neck, but he kept pressing more into my skin. Burning flesh started to fill my nostrils, and I was wobbling trying to keep my balance, but was pushed off by the Prophet. I fell on my back hard, and I rolled over with the momentum of the fall and suit. I tried to crawl to the Prophet, but I suddenly felt a blunt force to the back of my head, then saw just all black.
