Chapter 5
Time: 11:30
Location: Medical Care Block
(Kará's P.O.V)
I looked at Scotty's body as he was being examined for any major injuries from the attempted escape, minus me punching him in the back of the head. He was a fool to try to escape. He should have known he would not get far, though further than I thought he did. I shook my head.
"Notify me upon his gain of consciousness," I said to the medic Sangheili.
He nodded and I left. I made my way to the Prophet's chamber when I heard him over talking with his guards and some other prominent elites of the Council.
"She is a waste, we were nearly killed and exposed to the other humans if he had escaped. She was weak and ignorant to allow him to deceive her," a guardsmen said, becoming angry.
"She had her fianceè killed today, of course she probably is weak and any affection will cloud her mind," the Prophet said trying to reason.
"She allowed affections from a puny human to make her decisions. What treachery is this?" another Honor Guard huffed.
"She seems a traitor if this is true, and should be dealt with as a heretic would be!" a Special Ops commander hissed.
The other members of the meeting started to create clamoring, mostly agreeing with his statement.
"Stop the assumptions, it was probably an accident," the Prophet said, hoping to calm everyone.
"Or maybe she planned it, and it went wrong," a Major said.
"Then why would she knock him out?" he asked
"To cover her tracks," another Honor Guardsman said.
"Then what about being inside the cell trapped?" he questioned.
"A cover story, a simple lie and you are out of the clear," the last Guardsman said.
"Your points are valid and add up, but why betray us now, especially after all the years she has been here with the Covenant, aiding its path to great glory?" the Prophet asked, starting to become angry.
The room fell to a cold silence, then one last Sangheili spoke,
"She most likely used this as a cover story, and is a spy for the humans, when she was able to finally get physical contact with one, she takes the chance to get out as soon as she can to head back with the humans and inform them off our position upon this planet and strategies to the next ones to counter our strikes," he said and all the elites nodded as it was a great conclusion.
The Prophet sighed, as he had no counterargument."I guess with all the points leading up to her as a heretic, so she must be treated like one, death, but after she kills the human," reaching an agreement with the verdict.
I was shocked as I am treated like nothing, I put my entire life dedication into this, and now to be named heretic and be sentenced to death.
"I need to escape, but where can I go?" I thought trying to figure out an escape plan. I know hiding here is cowardly. Maybe if I help Scotty escape, maybe just maybe, he can help me as well. I went to go find Jen, maybe she can help me out with this situation and if I need to escape she can provide me a way out. I searched the ship looking for the trusted Kig-Yar and luckily found her in our barrack for the females onboard. She looked to be cleaning her Type-31 Rifle and getting her gear together to be shipped out.
"Jen, thank the gods I found you," I said full of worry, as I was beginning to worry about all the years of my dedication to the Covenant all going to a waste, and there is not a thing I can do once the Council meeting has reached an agreement.
"What's going on? You seem full of anguish," she asked.
"You know how the prisoner had tried to escape this morning?"
"Yes, and you were to deliver the final blow to end his escape and save the Prophet from the attacking of the human," she said.
"Well the Council does not think that, rather they are in belief that I had tried to help Scotty escape," I said
"What, how?" she asked confused completely.
I started telling her how I overheard the conversation and told her their conclusion, and she was flabbergasted.
"You mean?" she started and I nodded in agreement. She sighed and shook her head in disbelief. "You know you have to leave and soon, as soon as the prisoner is dead, they will most likely want you to follow the same suit and you probably will be next to him,"
"So at the end of this week I will try to manage an escape plan with Scotty and have you informed on each detail to help manage this getaway vehicle."
"It will be done," she said.
I hugged her as she has been a great friend since we meet on Harvest, and been with me since. I departed and went to go see the human, and check on his condition, I looked through the window of the room to see he was still asleep. I walked through the door and turned towards the medic, "You can take a break; I can watch over him,"
He sighed in relief and left, and I looked upon Scotty. He kind of looked peaceful, but I knew I would soon have to wake him and inform him of the situation, hopefully he will not be so rough upon it. I slowly approached him and was about to touch his chest to wake him when he said, "Don't touch me, I was faking I was asleep to get that damn "doctor" away from me. He would not stop touching me and experimenting with me and my armour while I was out for the short time being. He must've never been to close to a human at my guess," he said raising up on the last sentence, and looked at me.
"So, what do you want?" he asked.
"Well I just came here to check on you, even though after the act you performed just not only made it worse for you, but as well for me too," I said anger building up.
"Well you can't honestly expect a prisoner to not try to escape from his hold."
He did have a valid point, but his actions were still more than necessary to escape, by manipulating me. "With your actions being now I am in the same position as you now, if you do not want to behave properly and give the intel to the Prophet, you will be killed by me, then I will as well be killed. I have been claimed as a heretic by the council because I was believed to be aiding your attempt of escape," I sighed.
"Well isn't that great? You are really fucked now," he said, laughing.
"You are a boastful being, you know you will die as a weak coward because you accepted your death without a great reason," I said anger starting to show.
"That's where you're wrong, I will be dying to keep the safety of Earth from the knowledge of your leaders."
I had not thought of that, maybe he is much more intelligent than I figured.
"Well maybe I can help you regain your freedom," I suggested calming down.
"Why would you do that?" he asked.
"Well both of us are sentenced to death, and I can most likely think of a plan to escape here. I rather be thought of as a heretic and get revenge than die as one with my honor stripped quickly upon my death," I said in a matter-of-factly tone.
He looked down to see if there were any other alternative means of escape, but he did not seem to have any by his looks.
"You and your honor," he sighed shaking his with a grin as it were a laughing matter. "Well how are you going to help me escape? Well, rather us now, since you're coming along as it appears."
