Chapter 8
Time: 19:46
Location: Interrogation Room
(KarĂ¡'s P.O.V)
I felt the exhaustion as the interrogation continued for several hours and ended with the same results. I realized "If the Covenant could not break a SPARTAN, what makes them think they will become victorious."
I looked at the Prophet and Scotty. They both were weary, but still not moving any different from their standpoints on this. By this point Scotty had bruises and cuts on his face and neck, and probably some under his armor.
"You SPARTANS are really resilient and loyal to your falling army," the Prophet said.
"Yes, but what you don't understand is that we won't give up so easily because we're not at a winning point. No, if and when you find Earth, we will win. You will have the greatest resistance you will ever see. We won't fall without a dying whimper, no, we'll be taking all you sons of bitches with us!" Scotty said passionately.
"You humans seem very boastful, but you will soon meet your demise," I said, still being able to hold my act.
"If we were to fall, what will you do then? Huh? Play patty cake with each other while someone gives you a handjob?" Scotty smirked before a punch to the side by one of the honor guards shut him up. He groaned, he was already in so much pain from all the beatings in the long hours already.
"Stand down," I said, and the guard gave me a cold stare as he went back to formation.
"We will make sure our beliefs are still upheld, bringing other beings into our ranks in order to rule many other worlds," the Prophet said, smiling at the plan.
"What makes you think that other races will be so 'willing' to join you, and what will you do when they resist? Will you choose to eradicate them, as you are doing to us?" Scotty asked, fuming.
"If that be the case then, perhaps, it will turn out that way, but it may not," the Prophet said, full of himself.
I tried to resist the temptation to laugh at his boastful attitude; I never realized how arrogant the Prophets seem until now. "I really wonder how they were able to manipulate other races into joining the Covenant," I thought to myself before returning my attention to watching the two argue.
"I would laugh when you find a much bigger force, stomping you down like the cockroaches you are," Scotty smiled.
"You believe we have not thought of that?" I asked, still trying to maintain the act, "I know with our sheer power and resiliency we will dominate."
"If you're going to choose those reasons, then doesn't that declare us to be the winner in this war?" Scotty smirked.
"My patience has now worn thin," the Prophet said in an annoyed manner, "take him back to his cell."
Two of his Honor guards nodded and released Scotty's restraint cuffs. Scotty grabbed his helmet and followed the guards with a sword at his back. I watched them escort him away and wondered how his condition was, considering all the abuse he'd obtained.
"He is much harder to interrogate now, seems though he is more resilient than I expected," the Prophet said rubbing his head.
"Well I believe one of his training exercises was to predict how the enemy is going to retrieve information based on personality and actions, as well as the environment," I said nonchalantly.
"How would you know that?" he asked, looking up.
I knew had said too much. I did inform Scotty on some of the methods we use earlier; he told me that when I mentioned how some of them are still being tested.
"There is one of the many benefits of having a female here, and that is being able to play naive enough for the enemy to tell you information they would not normally," I backtracked.
He nodded and said, "Good work; I underestimated you,"
"Another thing, this planet is one of their more valuable ones, and will definitely fight harder for it. This will not be an easy feat, so I took the precaution of ordering more reinforcements," I said, trying to leave the room before he started questioning me more.
He nodded, and I left. I quickly went to find Jen and thank her. I honestly could not think of how I would be able to do this alone, and I owed her big time. I saw her in the armory talking to a Huragok about the Phantom Gunboat variant. Although communicating with the Huragok is not normal for any other species except normally the San 'Shyuum, Jen and I usually can, for we usually give them a datapad to type on, if one is available.
"So you're saying that these variants aren't susceptible to plasma fire?" Jen asked
The engineer nodded and whistled while typing on the pad. The voice simulator spoke from the pad saying, "Yes, though they are not completely resistant to it. So complete heavy fire to it will damage it severely as normal carriers" Jen nodded and was heading to the door.
"Hey Jen," I said coming up to her, "I really appreciate what you have been doing lately with Scotty and me."
"It's no problem, you would do the same if I had fallen in love with a human," she grinned.
"What?! No I havenot, why do you speak of such nonsense?"
"Oh come on, it is clear as day. You are developing a liking towards him, and with each day that goes by it gets more noticeable as well grows," she chuckled.
"That is not true, and you know it," I said getting annoyed, though she was not far from being wrong entirely.
"Admit it. You know as well as I do that is the truth," she smiled.
"Fine," I sighed, blushing. "I will say that I have developed a partial bond towards him."
