It was dark… and so very cold. Those were two things that Azalea has lived with for as long as she could remember. She could hardly remember the days when she laid in the soft spring grass that was warmed by the sun or when she used to run through fields of flowers with her mother.
'Those days will soon come again my sweet flower.'
Her eyes shot open at the familiar voice but there was no one around. "Where am I…?" she wondered aloud as she looked around at the snow-covered terrain. In the distance, surrounded by green aurora lights was a red, snow covered building "That must be the north pole."
Pushing herself up she started walking toward it, her bare feet numb from the freezing now, "Don't know what Pitch expects me to do, I mean I don't have any special powers or anything."
"You always talk to yourself?"
Azalea screamed and jumped, turning to the voice but what she saw made her stop in her tracks. Staring back at her were the clearest blue eyes she had ever seen; it was brighter than the summer sky and it made her want to stare for hours
The tall boy tilted his head at her, his white hair blowing in the cold winter wind. Like her, he was barefoot, but it didn't seem to bother him as mush as it did her, her eyes drifted to the long-curved staff in his hand.
She had seen him before in Pitch's lair when he had kidnapped Tooth's fairy's, but she was too afraid to cry out for help
"Who are you?" he asked, stepping closer
Azalea stumbled back and tripped but before she could fall onto her back, the boy reached out and grabbed her hand pulling her to his chest. Azalea's heart raced in her chest as she looked up at him "I- I uh..."
"Here. You must be freezing," he said before he laid his staff down and began taking his blue hoodie off
Blushing, Azalea looked away which made him chuckle "Don't worry, I have a shirt under this." Hesitatingly she turned back around and saw that he did have a white shirt still on, "Hold your arms up," he requested gently, this time without hesitation she did as he asked and he slowly put his sweatshirt on her "My name is Jack Frost. Now, you want to tell me who you are. And what you're doing here?"
For a split second she wanted to confide in him, thinking that he would be able to save her but soon squandered the idea and steeled herself "My name is Azalea, I was traveling with my family and I got lost in a blizzard." The lie slid off her tongue in a way that would make Pitch proud, that is if she even wanted him to be, and she really didn't.
Jack stared at her for a second then looked around, seemingly believing her words "Seems you got way lost then Azalea, come on North should be able to get you home?"
Wanting to keep her cover she tilted her head "Who is North?"
Her question made him do a double take "Your joking right? North, as in Santa Clause?"
Her eyes widen "The Santa Clause? No way!"
Even though it was fake excitement, he still smiled at her reaction "Yeah, now come on. I'll take you to him." He held out his hand to her
She knew what was going to come next, he was going to fly her to the workshop, and she was going to have to face North and something told her that lying to him was going to be trick.
Casting her thoughts to the back of her mind, she smiled and took his hand "Hold on tight okay?" when she nodded, she heard a loud gust of wind and they were lifted high into the air and they started flying to the building.
They landed at the front and standing there in the front were two larger yetis guarding the door "Hey you guys," Jack greeted them, "Don't worry I found her on the outskirts. She got lost from her family." He explained
With a look they nodded and opened the door and stood aside, letting them in. Jack kept her hand in hers as he led Azalea in and even though his hand was a little cold, she didn't seem to mind.
After they walked through several hallways, they came into a large room that had a large globe that was covered in small golden lights. At her feet, were dozens of small elves, dressed in red hats with bells attached at the top
"Jack!" a loud voice exclaimed making her jump and want to cower,
Jack looked down and gripped her hand in assurance "Hey, it's alright. It's just him, don't worry your safe." His voice soothed over her and she wished his were true
A tall man with a large white beard approached and smiled at her "Hello there little one," he cooed when he stood in front of them, "What is your name?"
"AZALEA?"
The voice made her heart instantly fall to her feet and she felt like she was going to pass out but with a painful bite of her tongue she turned and came face to face, well face to chest given her small figure, and looked up with her pirate gold eyes met bright emerald eyes
"Father…"
