Sorry i haven't been posting at all through the summer or much this year at all, and i guess i was right to never put a deadline on myself because i knew i would eventually never follow it...Well here is a new chapter and although it is rather short i packed it full of action and a little something for the ladies even though it might seen cruel.
Warning...Extreme violence you; the reader have been advised and i do not own the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Hideo Kojima does even though Konami cheated him out of it.
DARKARAI/ELIJAH (GHOST)
As the group stood there, dark laughter echoed through the darkness but soon quieted down, returning the area to a maddening silence. As they looked around, the members wondered just how in the world this woman was able to melt into the shadows without making a single sound. It was as if she was somehow one with the shadows, that they were a part of her in some strange way.
"Where the hell is she?!" Wolf growled as she looked around. "Ghost! Tell me you know where the hell she went?" Unfortunately, Ghost just remained silent. He was still baffled at the fact that Tisa just disappeared from his senses.
"Brother, hey, tell me. You got this, right?" Ocelot asked in a somewhat joking tone, trying his best to hide his fear. But to his dismay, he was failing to do so.
"Sorry to inform you all of this, but I can't see her. I can't even fucking sense her." Ghost told them. "It's strange, but it's as if the shadows are helping her?" he said, sounding a bit unsure. Just as he told them this, the team found themselves avoiding the metal spike ball and chain once more.
"This bitch and her damn ball are getting on my damn nerves." Wolf growled as she ducked in order to avoid another attack.
"Will one of you just do something about this damn-" Tiger snarled but paused in midsentence when, out of nowhere, several spikes of earth appeared and pierced straight through her chest and stomach, striking several vital points and internal organs.
As Tiger laid there in pain, everyone just stared in shock at what just happened. Tiger reached out for help as she died slowly. Everyone who locked eyes with Tiger could see that she knew she was going to die right there. Blood continued to dribble out the side of her mouth, down her chin. She could only stare straight ahead, right dead into Darkarai's eyes. The male could see the light quickly diminishing from them. To the group's surprise, Tisa didn't even attempt to attack. It felt as if she was enjoying the sight of her enemies watching their comrade die before them. Regaining movement, Darkarai walked forward and kneeled beside Tiger's form. Placing his hand on the side of her face, he gently turned her head so that she was looking at him.
"Just let it take you, Tiger." He told you. "You and I know there's nothing we can do. Just allow the darkness to take you."
"I… I feel… s-so c-c-cold. And… And it hurts…. s-so much…" She managed to state through a low, hoarse voice as blood continued to pool into her mouth. "G-Ghost, please… T-Tell my l-love, A-Al-Albatross that… that I'm… s-sorry. And please….g-g-give h-him my, l-little b-bear…" She whispered as the last little light in her eyes died out.
Darkarai laid the palm of his hand over her eyes and gently closed them. He took the dog tags that were around her neck and held them in his hand for a moment. The pristine slips of metal had a tiny fur bear charm attached in between them. The little charm was decorated in a little blue shirt that had the name 'Nicky' printed on it.
"My, such a boring outcome." Tisa commented in broken English in a bored tone of voice. "She died all sad and shit. Not as entertaining as I thought it would be."
"She may have been an annoying and bossy teammates, but she was still an MSF member nonetheless." The male stated in an angry tone. "And no brother or sister of MSF will die in vain." With that, the temperature within the warehouse was slowly raising.
The only response he received was finding Tisa's spiked metal ball flying straight at him. Before the ball could collide with his body, Ghost managed to catch the ball with his bare hands. As he held the ball, the heat from his hands started to make the metal melt. But before it could really get to that point, it quickly hardened and Tisa immediately tried to reel the ball back to her location. However, Ghost's iron hold of the ball seemed to halt her attempt. Becoming frustrated, Tisa caused more spikes to appear around the ball, causing Ghost to release his hold altogether.
The team quickly regrouped and started to form a semi-formulated plan of action. Their primary goal was to watch each other's backs and keep a close eye out for the silver woman who was merging in and out of the shadows. But just as she was about to attack, her plan was quickly shot to hell when the room started sprouting fire in different directions. Now that her movements were limited, the battle was much easier to follow since Tisa could only move to places Ghost was allowing her to move to. Seeing how her main tactic of attacking was no longer an option, Tisa chose a straight forward approach instead.
Swinging her weapon at them, she managed to knock Flame into a wall, causing her to drop her sniper rifle. Not only did she strike Flame, but she also managed to hit Bear as well. Bear had made the mistake of attempting to catch the ball, just as Ghost did earlier. And in the end, he paid for it. This continued until Tisa grew frustrated and created a wall, which was composed of cement, around Ghost. With nowhere to go, Tisa swung her weapon, aiming it straight for Ghost.
Just before the weapon could collide with Ghost, Wolf, who was the closest to him, managed to push him out of the path the weapon was heading. Unfortunately, Wolf wasn't able to move out the way in time, and as a result, she was slammed up against one of the cement walls. From the look of things, it seemed that she was more or less knocked out of the fight for the time being.
"Tano! (Five) Put out the fires!" Tisa yelled. In no time at all, it suddenly began to rain inside the warehouse. As the flames dwindled down to nothing more than flickering, dying flames, the silver clad woman raised her spiked weapon above her head, readying herself to strike her next target.
Before long, the burning flames were put out for good. In the meantime, Tisa's weapon started to glisten as water droplets dripped from its surface. But as the droplets struck the cement below, they sizzled and evaporated within seconds.
"Let's see if you can deal with my acid rain." The woman stated with a laugh, a laugh that sounded hysterical. But before she could use her new modified weapon, she was suddenly smacked upside the head with the butt of a sniper rifle. Falling to the ground, her grip around her weapon was lost. And as for the spiked ball covered in a mysterious acid, it was slowly burning a hole in the ground it sat on top of.
When Tisa lifted her head and glanced back over her shoulder, she found Wolf hovering over her down form. Tisa could tell that she was injured, but that didn't stop her from moving. Lifting the sniper rifle, Wolf aimed the rifle and placed the long barrel up against Tisa's head. To make sure she didn't move, Wolf placed her foot on her back, using her weight to keep her still.
"Let's see how your brain looks painted over the pavement, bitch." Wolf growled as she pulled the trigger. The gun exploded to life with a deafening blast ringing in the air. The point blank shot did its job and covered the pavement with Tisa's brain and blood. Some even flew through the air and struck the nearby walls. After the blast of the gun went off, silence quickly followed. Suddenly, light footsteps could be heard echoing off the walls. Turning towards the direction they heard the footsteps, the platoon spotted a woman clad in a metal suit, this one in a pitch black color. Her skin was dark and she had lips that were a little on the thick side. Dark brown hair framed her face as black eyes stared back at them.
"I hawataki kupambana, tu hulisunga yake." (I don't want to fight. I just want her choker.) The woman stated before fading out of existence. Looking around, the team was unable to find the woman or any sort of sign of her. But she soon reappeared, near Tisa's body. Acting quickly, she retrieved the collar and faded away once more. But just before disappearing, she sent Ghost and Wolf a look and soon turned her gaze towards a corner inside the room.
The platoon stood their ground for a moment to make sure the strange woman was gone. Once they were sure, they exited the collapsed chamber and made their way back outside. Back out into the cold, snow-covered Alaska plains. As they walked forward, they were unaware of a pair of golden eyes watching their every move. The eyes stared mainly at Ghost and Wolf, not bothering to focus on the others. The eyes soon disappeared, the owner of the eyes seemed please with what they saw.
As they moved across the plains, the team came across the original Metal Gear Rex, which was rusting because of the cold environment it was left in. They also spotted the original Metal Gear Ray, which was lying face down in the concrete. The Ray was missing its arms and was lying face down in the ground as well. The grounds the two behemoths laid inside was a decimated battlefield. The team looked on in awe, wondering how much destruction was created by these two nuclear weapons. Suddenly, the sound of insane laughter was heard. What caught their attention was the fact that the laughter sounded like it was coming from a man this time, not a woman.
Through the blowing snow, the team could see a dark silhouette of a figure heading towards them. Before long, the figure emerged, revealing themselves as Raiden. His body was gleaming in the sun, blood red eyes glowing, watching their every move. He looked more like a predator than a human. His blade rested on his shoulder, a slight hum could be heard coming from the weapon.
"Heh, took a couple of days, but I've finally found you. Ghost." Raiden stated in a possessed voice.
Before Ghost could reply back, a codec call rang in his ears, causing the male to keep his mouth shut. Answering the call, Otacon's voice spoke from the other end. Knowing the situation, he jumped right to the chase, not wanting to waste a single second. He alerted Ghost that he could see everything, thanks to a drone he had tracking him and his team.
"Ghost? Ghost, can you hear me?" he asked. "Listen Ghost, you need to stall Raiden as long as you possibly can." He told him. "Sunny is currently finishing up a program that may be able to contain the one who calls himself Jack. Before Otacon could speak another word, the link was broken by a disrupting call. Ghost recognized the voice. It was Raiden's.
Raiden? What the hell is going on?" Ghost asked.
"Listen Ghost. Jack isn't aiming to kill you." He told him. "He just wants a battle. A battle that would mark a sort of metaphorical death, so to speak. Hold him back long enough for Sunny to finish the program. Once she uploads it to my brain, Jack will be contained and I'll have control over my body again."
"You heard him, right Ghost." Otacon suddenly states, popping back in. "There's just a few more key strings that need to be completed.
"Enough talk, Roho ya Africa. Let's see who's the strongest. You, The Spirit of the Fallen, or me, The White Devil of Liberia." Jack said with a manically chuckle. The two just stood there, staring each other down, waiting for the other to make the first move.
Standing firm, Ghost reached over his shoulder and grasped the zipper of his body suit. Unzipping the suit, Ghost stopped about halfway and started to slip his sleeves off. He soon allowed the top half of the suit to just hang from his waist. Dropping his firearms, Ghost grabbed a hold to one of the many knives he had secured to his vest. The weapon of choice was none other than a curved Kurambit, a knife that was as long as his forearm.
"Listen up!" Ghost yelled to his teammates. "No one is to interfere with this fight, got it?! This is just between me and Raiden!"
The members of the platoon just nodded their heads in silence. The only sound came from the wind that was blowing harshly around them. Blood red, insane looking eyes stared straight into cold, emotionless ebony brown ones.
MOJA (One)
As the battle between Ghost and Raiden was about to begin, another group stood in the distance, watching in silence as the fight got ready to begin. Within the shadows, amber colored eyes easily pierced through the darkness.
"It seems that this would be a better test for Ghost than that farce Tisa tried to conduct. The fool didn't know that we were fully aware of it being a revenge plot on her part. God riddance though. The weakling was holding back our true cause anyway. And her expertise in machines in nothing compared to Mbili (Two) since he can actually talk to them." One of the figures thought to themselves. "It's a pity. To have an opponent that can match us in strength and decline from linking with us. Even so, we'll see just what you can do, Sita."
A piece of rusted metal suddenly fell off the broken arm of Ray, striking the ground with a thud and also initiating the fight between Raiden and Ghost. Before Ghost knew it, Raiden had crossed ¾ of the distance that separated the two. But unfortunately for Raiden, Ghost was ready for him. Ghost shifted to his left, just in time t avoid the attack Raiden had swiped at him. Missing, Raiden received a thrust to the throat as a counterattack from Ghost. Shifting his head, Ghost ducked and turned to his side as he slammed a palm into the blade of Raiden's sword.
Jack had gone for another attempt to cut Ghost after receiving the thrust to the throat, however, his attempt ended in a stalemate. His blade was held up against Ghost's neck while Ghost's Kurambit was held up against his.
"You're intentionally slowing yourself down to less than twenty-five percent of your normal speed." Ghost told Jack.
"I may be a cyborg shinobi, or maybe you can call me a samurai, but the point of the matter is that I don't believe that overkill is needed for this fight." He replied back. "I want to win this fight fairly. Its skill against skill. Power against power. No cheap tricks. No unfair disadvantages. Skill and experience will be the deciding factor." He added as the two backed away from one another.
With each step Raiden took, sparks of red bolts floated off the Murmasa, the blade that Jack wielded in one hand. As the battle continued, the sky above was covered in darker clouds. Responding to this, Ghost's footsteps suddenly began to radiate steam. The snow under his feet was quickly melting, returning back to water. Using his heat, Ghost blew a hot steam straight at Raiden, who quickly dodged the attack and answered with swinging a crackling blade at his opponent. However, the blade suddenly came into contact with a purplish colored shield. But Raiden's attack proved to be powerful since it was able to leave a deep crack in the shield's surface.
After one collision after another, Ghost had no other choice but to jump away, creating some distance in between him and Raiden, in order for him to form a new plan that would better aid him in his fight. He saw that he had clearly underestimated what less than twenty-five percent of Raiden's strength could really do. He realized that he was facing an opponent that had very little honor or morals for the matter. He wasn't sure why he was holding back, but he knew it wasn't going to make the fight any easier.
Jumping from his thoughts, Ghost jumped away, just in time to avoid Raiden's attack. One that could have taken off a limb or two. After narrowly dodging the blade, Ghost found himself gaining a new scar, this one across his face and on the bridge of his nose. In return, Ghost heated his blade and left a mark of his own. One that was left across Jack's (Raiden) chest. Once again, the two were in a stalemate with their blades, one clash ending with them going right into another.
Backing off, Jack jumped away and pointed his sword at Ghost. The simple movement caused the clouds above to rumble. Acting on pure instinct alone, Ghost jumped to the side, barely avoiding a lightning bolt that struck in the spot he was just standing in. Looking at Jack in surprise, Ghost saw that Jack was holding his head in pain.
"Damn this body!" Jack yelled. "I can't bring down lightning that powerful again." He told himself. But as soon as the pain subsided, he sent smaller bolts down, aiming for Ghost. As he dodged them, he suddenly heard a faint whisper within the wind.
"Free it. Feel the power inside the core of your being. Underneath your feet. Grasp that power Darkarai and free it. Use it not only as your sword, but as your shield as well."
But while being distracted by the strange voice, Ghost was suddenly struck by one of Jack's bolts. Regaining his senses, Ghost just stared at his enemy, who was readying themselves to strike him down with another charged lightning bolt. But as he stared, something clicked inside him. Ghost would then slam the palms of his hands into the snow-covered ground, making the frozen water melt by his touch. Soon patches of barren earth were revealed.
As Ghost attempted to pull his arms up, it looked as if he was having trouble performing such a simple task. And as he continued to do so, the ground around him began to change. Snow continued to melt, the ground was becoming uneven, and steam was somehow escaping the cracks that were being formed. Everyone knew that something was happening. Ghost was obviously doing something, but not one knew was what up the young man's sleeve. Even Jack stared with a puzzled look on his face.
"Heh, I see your game, Spirit of the Fallen." Jack stated as he stood between the two broken Metal Gears. "Let's see if I can match it."
Retrieving another blade, Jack slammed them against one another, causing them to vibrate. He then took a meditative sitting position on the ground as Ghost continued to pull the earth up with his two bare hands. Unbeknownst to the others, it was none other than a new power.
"Hmm, I see. He has pulled it from the earth's crust. He's actually pulling forward lava." The figure thought to themselves. "Sita, you easily match Nne and you are very close of being better than Mbili. Yes, he is a perfect candidate."
Before long, everyone could see the orange-red liquid emerging from the ground. But as he continued to do so, small geysers formed, created a small lake around Ghost's form. Soon, Ghost returned to his full height, clearly worn out from his ordeal. Jack cackled as the two war machines started to shift and move. Rex pulled itself up to stand, as did Ray. They were shaking as they did so, but they managed to stabilize their stance within seconds. Finally standing, the two released deafening screeches in the cold arctic air.
"Team, get to the warehouse now!" Ghost yelled at his group, who were currently shocked at what they just witnessed. "I said move, dammit!" he yelled once more. And with that, the small geysers shot lava into the air once more.
Regaining their composure, the team quickly moved, heading back to the warehouse. They knew that the battle before them had just turned into one that was out of their league. The lava around Ghost suddenly started to morph into huge arms and hands as Rex charged forward like a raging bull. However, Ghost was able to catch the machine with ease. But while his attention was on Rex, Ray jumped high into the air and landed in the ocean. After siphoning water into its tank, the machine readied its hose, aiming to shoot a waterbeam.
While stuck in the lava, Rex opened its back t release a few missiles, which were aimed at the lava limbs. Hitting them dead on, the limbs turned into globs of lava, allowing the machine to escape and fire a barrage of bullets at Ghost. But before the bullets could hit, a wave of lava formed before Ghost, hardening into a wall that shielded him. Once the bullet barrage ended, the wall formed into tentacles and wrapped around Rex, lifting the machine up into the air with ease. Just as Ghost was about to throw the metal shell, a stream of pressurized water cut through the tentacles, freeing Rex.
The machine screeched in anger and indignation as it struck the ground below. Scrambling back to its feet, Ray jumped onto a broken tower of a nearby building. Ray screeched back at Rex before turning to Ghost. Firing more missiles, Ghost used his lava arms to form another shield, protecting him from the bombing. As the smoke cleared, the arms were still intact with barely in damage.
"Oh. This just gets better and better. He has certainly gained power and the respect of Nne…. That's a hard feat, considering that the man respects no one except me and you. And there's no doubt that you need to join our cause. With power like that, we'll undoubtedly succeed."
Thanks for reading and i hope i will be able to grab your attention with the next chapter :P
