An- Alright guys here's another one.

Murphy looked down at Harper she slept he couldn't believe how lucky he was to have her here with him. He glanced around the room quickly, Connor slept on his mattress a few feet from them, he wasn't even sure what time Connor had gotten in last night. Yet looking around the room he couldn't help but feel guilty, Harper came from a well off family she had a real house a beautiful car and had never wanted for anything in her life. He feared he could never give that to her. He glanced down back at her hoping he could hold on to her forever, but he knew the time would come when she would want more from life and leave him behind. But he stopped himself from thinking about the future he just wanted to live in the now with her.

"What are you staring at?" she asked with her eyes still closed.

"You." He said softly as he leaned down and kissed her neck causing her to giggle.

"Git a room." Connor groaned from his side of the room.

"Have a a 'ard night." Murphy asked

Connor groaned and pulled his pillow over his head.

"Poor Connor." Harper said holding back a laugh.

"Wa were we." Murphy asked as he moved on top of Harper, but a pillow hitting him in the head interrupted him. Harper broke out in a fit of laughter.

"We rade our own rooms." Connor sat up rubbing his eyes

"Turn around Connor I have to get dressed." Harper told Murphy's brother.

Connor sighed but turned around as Harper gathered her cloths and put them back on, while Murphy lay in bed watching a grin on his face.

"Ok I'm good." She said as she crawled back onto the bed and kissed Murphy, "I love you." She whispered to him.

"I love you too." He grinned at her.

Connor stood up and walked to the kitchen area and picked up a box of cereal. "Ain't yer two cute." He grinned.

"ah cum on Connor sum cloths on." Murphy complained.

Harper without thinking looked up and held up her hand to block out Connors junk laughing, "I'm used to it Murphy don't worry."

Murphy shook his head and grinned.

"Have you guys heard the Saints did it again?" Harper asked.

"Did what?" Murphy asked pretended he had no idea what she was talking about.

"Killed another one of those mob guys." She paused and looked down, "The one that killed my mother."

"Good." Murphy told her, "Right?"

"Yes, father won't admit it, but I know he is happy." She smiled, "And now I can sleep peacefully even when you're not by my side."

Murphy gave her a fake frown, "Does dat mean yer won't spend de noights 'ere as often?"

Harper kissed him, "I didn't say that." She grinned.

Connor put a handful of cereal in his mouth, "We nade a bigger place."

"You like it when I'm here." Harper smiled, "I cook food."

"Yer didn't last night." Connor told her.

"Well Murphy came home early and distracted me." She grinned.

"Puke." Connor put the box down and pulled on some pants and winced.

"Wat 'appened?" Murphy asked frowning.

"Bar fight, I'm fine." He grinned. "No need for me baby brah'ders 'elp."

"Older brah'der." Murphy added.

"I love the way you too look out for each other." Harper sighed, "I told Daddy I would meet him for lunch so I have to guy."

"Alright." Murphy said as he pulled her down on top of him giving her one last kiss before she left. She kissed him back then pushed herself up.

Murphy walked over to the window to watch her as she walked out of the building. She turned and glanced up to the window knowing he would be watching her. She smiled and raised her hand to wave to him. Yet Murphy frowned a van pulled up next to her,

"Harper!" He yelled knowing this couldn't be good. Connor jumped up as his brother yelled, but he didn't get a chance to get to the widow because Murphy took off running out of the apartment. Connor didn't wait to see what happened he joined his brother in a run.

When the two got outside all they could see was the van speeding away, but no Harper. Murphy tried to chase after the van, but he wasn't fast enough.

"No!" He yelled, "Harper! Harper!" he kept yelling.

"Harper!" Daryl yelled in his sleep, "No Harper!"

"Daryl!" Carol's voice broke through, "Daryl wake up!"

Daryl sat up quickly unsure about where he was. He saw the darkness of the prison and saw Carol kneeling next to him. "What?" he grumbled.

"You were yelling in your sleep." Carol told him.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I heard you yelling." She paused, "Everyone did. What happened?"

Daryl narrowed his eyes, "It's not your job to look out for me."

"I just." She looked down, "Sorry."

"Get out of here." He growled.

Carol sighed, "You know Daryl one of these days you will realize you need people." She paused, "If you need to talk, know I'm here."

"Get out." He growled again.

"You know some people just want to help." She told him. "We are all here to look out for each other."

"Don't need no body to look out fer me." He mumbled as he lay back down in bed. He looked up to the ceiling ignoring Carol as she left him. He saw images of Harper flashed through his mind. He didn't know how long he lay there looking at the ceiling.

"You were calling out for her." Duffy's voice broke through.

"I told Carol to leave what makes you think you would be any different." He growled refusing to look at him.

"What happened?" Duffy asked.

"I don't know." Daryl sighed.

Why where you yelling?" he asked.

"Remember the time Harper was taken by those guys her father owed money to?" Daryl asked.

"Yes."

"It started out great, we were in bed together I almost felt like I was really there like this wasn't reality and that was." He didn't know why he was speaking to Duffy, but he couldn't help it he was perhaps the only one that could really understand him. "Then she went outside and they took her. Once again I felt her loss."

"But you saved her." Duffy told him, "You killed those men that tried to kill her, you and Connor kept her safe."

"That time." Daryl muttered.

"How'd she die?" Duffy looked over at Daryl who still refused to look over at him.

"I don't know, we got separated I don't even know if Connor found her." Daryl sighed, "She was pregnant when we went to jail."

"I remember." Duffy nodded his head; he remembered Harper crying as she kissed him goodbye and her swollen stomach.

"There's no way they survived this." Daryl shook his head.

"You did." Duffy told him, "Maybe they did too."

"The only reason I have is 'cause of these people." he shook his head, "They had a baby with them, who knows if Connor even found her."

"That girl Carol, she liked you." Duffy told him, "If you truly believe she is gone then maybe you should move on."

Daryl shook his head; "There will never be enough room in my heart for another girl."

"You can't tell me you don't feel that fire anymore when you see someone attractive." Duffy grinned, "You used to joke about it all the time at the bar even with Harper next to you."

"That was just joking 'round." Daryl told him, "I could never feel that fire with anyone. Not like with her, I've had plenty of chances, Carol has given me plenty of chances, and I just feel nothing." He sighed, "Nothing at all."

"That's normal when you lose someone, but you need to eventfully move on, everyone deserves to be happy, especially you."

"No." Daryl muttered, "I couldn't protect my family I don't deserve another one."

"You protect these people." Duffy told him, "Carl and Rick have told me what you've done to keep these people safe." He paused, "The city of Boston you kept it safe as well."

"Rick keeps all 'em safe' round here." Daryl muttered.

"He said he wouldn't have done all this without you, that you were the one to make sure Judith got food." Duffy looked over at Daryl who still wasn't looking at him.

"I did what I had to." Daryl told him, "I couldn't let the kid starve no one else could go that far and get food."

"These people are your family now, like it or not and its about time you start letting yourself care for them and love them."

"I do care for them." Daryl told him, "I would be sad if any of them died, I just refuse to love anyone not anymore, not again."

"You won't be happy until you do." Duffy sighed

"I don't deserve to be happy not after what I did." Daryl growled, "I left her, I left them and now they are gone, what type of husband does that? What type of father?"

"Yours went to jail." Duffy reminded him, "Yours was gone, he left, but did you love him any less once you found him?"

"That was different the world didn't end after he left, there is no way in hell Harper survived she was a strong willed woman, but still she was a spoiled princess 'er father owned half of Boston she ain't never had to fight and scrape the bottom to survive. Gutter rats like me, we had a chance when the world fell to shit, but she." He paused, "She ain't never had a chance."

"Connor was just like you, what makes you think he didn't survive?" Duffy asked.

"He didn't have no one to have his back." Daryl said softly, "Ain't nobody, not even Connor can make in this world without someone havin' their back."

Duffy nodded his head in agreement he had only made it as far as he did because of the group he used to be part of, slowly they all had fallen. He was sure he wouldn't have been far behind if Rick and Daryl hadn't found him. "Just know." Duffy said, "I'm sure everyone here likes Daryl, but I know they would really like Murphy too, just let someone in, let someone know the real you."

"I ain't Murphy no more." Daryl sat up and glared over at Duffy, "Enough with this shit, get outta 'ere."

"Daryl-"

"Get outta 'ere before I make you." Daryl growled. His glares sent a chill down Duffy's spine he knew better then challenge Daryl when his eyes looked like that. He just sighed and hung his head in defeat.

"Alright, alright." Duffy told him holding his hands up, "I'm leaving."

"We lost a lot of men." Connor sat down on the couch next to Harper, "The walkers." He paused, "There are so many of them."

Harper ran her fingers through Connor's hair, "I know it's bad out there."

"Har I don't know what to do out there, I don't know how anyone can trust strangers." He shook his head, "How do I know if people have my back the way Murph did?"

"People do it all the time." Harper told him, "In the army out fighting wars."

"These people aren't soldiers, they aren't brothers in arms." He sighed, "These people hardly know how to shoot strait."

"You just don't trust anyone the way you trusted your brother." She told him.

"I just knew back then, no matter what he would be by my side." He sighed again, "No matter what I knew he was watching out for me."

"He still is." Harper smiled.

"I don't know how to fight out there and not know I can trust them one hundred and ten percent." He paused, "If we didn't have to keep Liam safe I'd say we should leave this place, that world though, its not meant for a kid, but this Governor I don't trust him he is going to leave this place to ruin."

"I don't trust him either." Harper sighed, "Something is strange about him."

Connor looked at the clock, "I have to get going." He sighed, "Another patrol."

"Be safe." She told him and leaned up and kissed him, "I love you."

"I love you to." And glanced at Liam who lay asleep, "Tell him I love him too."

"Come home for dinner." Harper told him.

"I will." He grinned down at her as he stood up kissing her one last time before he hurried out the door to meet the Governor.

Harper watched him leave wishing he didn't have to go. Turning to her chores she let her mind wonder away with her. She thought back to the night she had made an attempt on her life. In the dark of the night, the smoke that filled the air she had been so sure she saw Murphy, but she knew her mind couldn't be trusted. She turned to the couch to see if Liam was still asleep or if he had woken knowing it was just about lunch time, but he smiled faded seeing the boy wasn't there. She turned to scan the room, but felt her heart drop the front door was wide open.

"Liam." She hurried to the door and looked outside, "Liam!" she yelled.

Daryl wanted to get away from everyone hunting was a way to just let go. Out in the woods looking for meat let him be Daryl, let himself be the redneck trash he had allowed himself to be lost in these past years. He thought of the little kid he had found. Most of all his confusion happened because of that child. He was happy the boy was gone happy he didn't have to watch out for him. He heard a crack near by, he moved behind a near by tree and raised his bow putting his finger on the trigger. He could see the movement he was ready to strike.

"Daddy!" a child's voice called his voice sounding sleepy.

"Dam it." Daryl growled as a child walked into view, but not any child Liam, "Don't his parents ever watch him?" he muttered to himself

"What do we have here?" came a voice that made Daryl's hair stand on end.

"Have you seen my da?" The boy asked rubbing his eyes it had been a long time since he had woken up in the middle of no where from sleep walking.

"You out here yelling, it's going to draw the Walkers." The Governor told the boy, "Your Daddy he's losing faith in me, questioning my leadership, wants to talk with the people at the prison." Daryl didn't like the sound of the man's voice. "You're death would make him fight them."

"Sir." Said another voice.

"Kill the boy." The Governor grinned. The other man pointed his gun at the boy. Daryl knew he was to far to push the boy aside so he did all that he could was aim his arrow and shoot hoping for the best. He heard the man yelp in pain and a gun shot go off and Liam's screams.

"Liam!" Daryl yelled as he hurried to the scene. He saw the Governor had ducked for cover and the other man was holding his hand screaming looking at an arrow sticking through it. Liam was on the ground. "It's alright." Daryl said quickly as he picked the boy up pointing his bow at the Governor. "Move and I kill you." He growled. Liam continued to cry as Daryl held him he backed up slowly into the woods until he couldn't see the Governor anymore. When he thought he was safe he turned and ran as fast as he could back to the prison the boy in his arms. He didn't notice what fell from the boy's hand. He heard gun shots behind him, but knew he couldn't look back he had to get away from the crazed man

He burst into the prison, "Carol!" he yelled. "Hershel!"

"What?" Carol asked as she came into the room. She was still upset with Daryl from the other night. "Oh my god." She muttered as she saw Liam bleeding on the table Daryl had put him on. "What happened?"

"I was out huntin' " Daryl said quickly, he couldn't understand the panic that was washing over his body. "And The Governor was about to kill me."

Carol pushed a cloth over the boy's chest wound. Hershel hurried into the room, "What happened?"

"He got shot." Daryl told him, "Is he going to be alright?"

"I don't know." Hershel said quickly as he went to work on the boy.

Conner fell to the ground with tears falling into his eyes upon seeing what was left of a kids body burning. "It can't be."

"I'm sorry." The Governor placed his hand on the man's shoulder, "I tried to save him but that man he came out of no where."

Connor glanced up at the man, "We don't know for sure." He glanced back down at the body; it was impossible to figure out the face anymore. He wanted to convince himself that the burned body wasn't Liam but what caught his eye next to the burning body made him feel like his whole world was falling apart. He picked up a Rosary, not just any rosary it had once belonged to Murphy one Connor had to match. He inhaled sharply not letting the tears fall, it was the very Rosary he had given to Liam telling the boy that it belonged to him now once he had returned after being missing just a short time ago. "No." He muttered shaking his head, "What was he doing out here."

"I'm sorry Connor I saw the boy fall I saw them burn the body I couldn't stop them they were shooting everywhere." The Governor shook his head, "I wish I could have done more."

"There was nothing you could do." Connor muttered, "It's that archer, he will die and die by my hand."

"He needs blood." Hershel muttered

"Use mine." Daryl exposed his arm to Hershel.

"You don't know if you are his match." The old man shook his head.

Daryl looked at the boy struggling for breath. Something about the boy made him shatter inside. Then a feeling washed over him, one he hadn't felt in years. It was just like the night he and Connor had spent in the jail cell hiding out from the reporters. The very same feeling that brought fourth the Boston Saints. In this moment I was as if he could feel god once more. "I am," He almost whispered.

"You don't know that." Carol told him, "It could kill him if you aren't a match."

"I do know." Daryl looked Hershel in the eye, "He's going to die if we don't try something."

Hershel said nothing for a moment he glanced down at the boy then back at Daryl.

"Please Hershel, don't ask me how I know, but I do know my blood is alright for him, it can save him. I know it." He almost begged.

Hershel almost didn't know the man before him. He had never seen the look in Daryl's eyes the way they were right now. He cared greatly for the boy, but there was something else too. A look that reminded him of his late wife a look of faith. Daryl was believing in faith. Trusting in a higher power. Daryl was so convinced that his words were true. The old man gave a small nod to Carol who was helping him tend the boy.

"But Hershel-"

"The boy is dying already." Hershel interrupted, "We have no other option."

"It's my fault," Harper said her voice showing no sign of emotion.

"No." Connor shook his head, "This is no ones fault, but the man that killed him, a man who hurts a child. And I vow Harper I will kill him. I will kill the man with the arrows. I will make him pay for killing our boy. He clenched his fist.

"Conner." Harper shook her head she felt so defeated, "Just stay here, Don't go join the fight I couldn't stand to lose you too."

"That fucker." Conner growled has his accent flared up slightly, "You know he's Merle's brother."

"Yes I know." Harper fought the tears coming from to her eyes.

"He gave us Liam back to take him away once more he wants to brake us, brake everyone here." He shook his head, "I refuse to brake, Harper I'm going to kill him. Woodbury will be just like Boston I will fight to keep it safe, I will fight to keep all I have safe." He stepped closer to Harper, "You are all I have left. I will put everything I have into keeping you safe."

"Then stay here and put aside revenge in the end I fear we won't be left with each other. I'll be here alone and you." She paused, "Everyone I have ever cared about is dead don't follow in their footsteps."

"You aren't going to lose me." Conner whispered as he stepped closer to her, "I'm a better shot."

"Is he going to be ok?" Daryl asked looking down at the boy who no seemed to sleep on one of the cell beds.

"Only time will tell, but he is stable it seemed your blood was a match." Hershel finished putting new dressings on the boys wound.

"So you don't know." Daryl ran his hand through his hair, "He could still die."

Hershel looked up at the other man bewildered he had never seen Daryl act this way with anyone before. He was reminded of the time back on his farm when Rick and showed up with Carl. Daryl showed signs of a father worried to death that his child wasn't going to make it, but this boy wasn't Daryl's they had only met a few weeks ago. How could he have gotten this attached to the young boy? "No." Hershel told him, "I don't know so far he's breathing on his own and there is no infection that is a good sign Daryl you can relax."

"I won't relax until Liam is better." Daryl began to pace the cell. "This is all my fault I should have never sent him back there I knew the Governor was no good and I sent him back all because of his eyes."

"His eyes?" Hershel asked.

"Never mind." Daryl snapped, "Don't you have something else to be doing if there is no more you can do here?"

Hershel sighed and stood up, why was Daryl so defensive lately. It was like the man was lost in his mind. The few times he would slip up and let words fall from his mouth he didn't want others to know about he would strike out at anyone that heard. "Yes I suppose I do." He knew better then to push Daryl one day the younger man would revile all his secrets, but Hershel knew secrets were kept for a reason if Daryl didn't want to share there was a good reason. "Just call to me if anything happens." He said as he left the cell.

Daryl waited until Hershel was gone then he knelt down next to the boys bed, "Come on kid." He muttered, "Open your eyes." The boy didn't move. Daryl hung his head, "I don't even care if I see her eyes I just need you to show me you're a the fighter I know you are." He couldn't understand why he was so drawn to the boy, he couldn't understand why he was so crushed as he saw the child slipping away. "Please." He began as he bowed his head as if to pray, "If you can here me, I'm sorry for who I have become, but don't let this boy die." He felt strange talking to god once more, it had been so long since he had allowed himself to have belief in faith. "I've done your will in the past I know I have strayed since then, but don't let this boy fall he's to good." It began to feel more natural as he spoke.

"Da?" a weak voice asked.

Daryl's head shot up, "Liam?" he asked quickly as he scanned the boy's face. The child's head moved in the direction of Daryl's voice his eyes opening slightly.

"Da?" he asked again, "You look like me Da." The boy's voice was weak.

"No it's me." Daryl told the boy running his hand through the Childs hair. "Daryl."

"Da. you look like him." Liam whispered as his eyes closed and he drifted back off to sleep.

Daryl sighed, "I don't know what I will do if you go little man, keep fighting."

AN- Kind of a short chapter, but I feel a lot has happened in it, sorry if it seems rushed I just have so many ideas it seems I can't write, but then when I do it just ends up not how I imagined it. You don't know how many times of written, deleted, and re-written this chapter, hint many times and I just decided I needed to finally post it instead of second guessing the whole thing.
