Month 2 Day 20

Subject: Drew

"How we looking down there Pete?" Drew asked over headsets. "Still haven't found them yet. They might be in the ward." Pete returned the call. "Keep looking, these guys have a lot of fight, so watch your backs." Drew said as he kept unloading a machine gun as he flew over the buildings. "Too close! Too close!" Johnny yelled over headsets. "Copy that friendly in the house." Drew said. "Pete you're coming up on an LMG post on your three. A 'nade should do the trick." Drew said. He could see Pete toss a grenade in and watched the explosion. "Damn! They're gonna feel that one in the morning!" Drew said. "Glad you're having a good time up there! Why don't you come down here and help?" Pete said. "Ah alright." Drew said as he shook the ground upon landing.

He felt bullets patter into his armor as he easily took out militia without much trying, the armored tank shooting the cannon into various parts of the hospital. "Eh, you mind not shooting into the building we're trying to raid! Trying to rescue someone from there you know!" Drew said to the tank operators. "My bad." The driver said. Drew led the ground troops up to the door, which was heavily barricaded. "How are we gonna get through?" Pinky asked. "We walk right in." Drew said as he ejected a rocket into the door and blasted it open. "After we blow it open of course." He said as he led the people in quickly. "Alright keep it tight, ninety seconds, in and out." Drew said as he kept point. Militia came out from various doors and a firefight soon erupted in the halls. Drew stood ground taking shot after shot and let out a flamethrower burning anybody stupid enough to stay in front of him. "Sixty percent." An automated voice warned Drew.

"Keep moving people. Any closed doors, open them." Drew commanded as he led everybody upstairs. "Check your corners." Pete reminded. "Johnny, Lola, Damon, Carlos, and Edna follow me, Pete you take the rest and cover the other end of the corridor." Drew commanded. "Sure that's a good idea?" Pete asked. "We'll cover more ground and get out of here quicker. This buildings pretty big, so we got to move quick. I know you can do it, just trust your instincts." Drew said as Pete nodded and took his group with him. Drew led his pack down the hallway quickly. "Thought you'd want Pinky close to you?" Johnny asked. "It isn't worth it anymore. I know I'll die before we get out of here. It's a good chance she will too." Drew said as they checked various rooms.

"Finally came to your senses huh?" Johnny asked. "No I always had them, but its only now I realize they were used wrong." Drew stated as he heard a yell for help come from one of the rooms. "Over here." Drew instructed the group. He went to a rusted locked old door and looked through the muggy window to see Katie, and what looked like Zoe. "Pete we got them. Head back to the truck we'll meet you there." Drew said. "Copy that." Pete said as Drew told the girls to step back and he blasted the door open and got them out. "About damn time." Zoe said as Johnny caught her and started carrying her. Drew went up to Katie who obviously couldn't recognize him. He had the helmet taken off as he looked at Katie. "You okay?" Drew asked. "I knew you wouldn't leave me behind." Katie said with a genuine smile as she hugged Drew. "I made a promise didn't I?" He asked as Katie hugged him tighter. "We got to get out of here." Drew said. "Drew!" Pete yelled over headsets.

"What's going on?" Drew asked. "We've been ambushed, there's too many out here, we are in the truck, and Pinky isn't anywhere to be found. We've got to leave the truck is falling apart!" Pete said. "We'll be out of here soon, just keep hanging in there!" Drew yelled. "We have to leave now! They have a truck close to the entrance if you can get them out of here, but we've got to leave!" Pete yelled as the group already made their way outside. "Alright Pete get out of there! We'll hold them off. I'll think of a plan B." Drew said. "Good luck!" Pete yelled as the tank pulled away from the entrance and Drew quickly got the group to the truck he was talking about. "When I distract them you guys get the hell out of here. Got it?" Drew asked. "You aren't coming?" Katie asked worry filling her eyes.

"Katie. If I don't do this you guys are going to get caught or get killed. I'm not putting anybody else on the line and failing you. If I can I'll come back. If I don't, you take care of them. After all, you were my first student." Drew said. Katie just nodded with a tear rolling down her cheek. "I'll be back soon. Trust me." Drew said. He turned around and faced the attackers still focused on the tank rolling down the Vale. Drew's helmet covered his head again as he started to fire into different groups and successfully killed each group. More of them kept coming and firing at him and they were completely oblivious to the truck escaping. The truck flew through the front gates and made it out alive. Drew kept destroying every cache, building, and person as well as any undead on the way. Once he saw every enemy was done for he nodded approval and heard the voice warn him again. "Twenty percent."

He looked over the dead bodies to see if he could see anybody, and he saw Derby torn in half among the fray. "You lost amigo." Drew said as he continued through the dead. He looked over to something moving in a pile of dead bodies, trying it's best to get out of it. He walked over and saw Pinky, bleeding, and possibly not going to last long. "Drew? Is that you baby? Please help me." Pinky said. Drew looked her over silently as she kept speaking softly. He got down on one knee and held her hand. "Are you going to pull me out of here? Please?" Pinky asked. Drew pulled out a gun and put it against Pinky's head and shot a bullet into her head. "Couldn't let you kill us. Not again." Drew said as he stood back and flew again.

Subject: Pete Kowalski

"It's finally over. They're done right?" Johnny asked. "If Drew took everybody out then yeah it is. We still got one more pain in the ass to deal with." Holly said. "The military. What is today anyways?" Pete asked. "They arrive in a couple days last I checked." Edna said. "So that's it right? We just need to hang on a couple more days until then right?" Pete asked. "Yeah, but wouldn't it be better to go to the safe zone now rather than wait?" Johnny asked. "Why didn't anybody think of that earlier?" Lola asked.

"Because they've got automated weapons protecting the entrance, and it doesn't matter what you are, it'll kill you once you're in range, they only disable it on evacuation days." Edna explained. "So how do we get the knocked out people and injured there with no problems?" Johnny asked. "We could always try loading up on the tank." Katie suggested. "I don't think they'll welcome people with a tank, besides that already took enough hits to send it to the ocean, it's completely useless now." Pete said. "Damnit. How are we gonna get there then?" Johnny asked. "Could we send flares? Make a signal? Something that'll get their attention?" Holly asked. "Good idea. You think they'd fly over here?" Pete asked. "On the last evac day? You really think they'd take that chance?" Edna asked. "What the heck's going on out here?" A familiar voice was heard. Pete looked over and saw Jimmy walking down the hallway. "Jimmy! You're alive!" Pete yelled in excitement.

"Why wouldn't I be?" He asked. "You took a serious hit. Thought you'd be dead." Johnny said with a slick grin. "Christy ended up helping me, probably what sped it all up." Jimmy explained. "She's alive too?" Pete asked. "I wouldn't be if she wasn't." Jimmy said. "Miracles all over huh?" Edna asked. Jimmy caught sight of Zoe and was almost horrified at the sight. "Fuckin a Zoe what happened?" Jimmy asked. "They're dead now Jimmy. Don't worry about it." Zoe said. "Who…" Jimmy started. "They're dead. That's all that matters." Zoe finished. Jimmy nodded as he hugged Zoe and she just accepted it. Zoe broke the hug after Christy took her to the infirmary to fix her up. Jimmy walked over to Pete after he saw Zoe hop off. "What the hell's been happening lately?" Jimmy asked. Pete led Jimmy around as they spoke.

"You were out for a few days. A lot of people are dead now, several injured, Jill disappeared what seems like, and Derby led the attack here the other day. So we did the same to him." Pete said. "How would you have done that?" Jimmy asked as Pete brought him outside to show what was left of the beast they stormed Derby's throne with. "That's impressive. I'm sure it looked better before." Jimmy said. "That was after it got hit with rockets and bullets." Pete said. Jimmy just whistled. "What's going on boys?" Drew asked as he walked up to them. "You're alive?" Pete asked. "Just barely. Only flew about halfway before I decided to walk. Got ten percent left, figure I'd save it for a rainy day." Drew said. "Can't stop playing the hero role can you?" Pete asked.

"Not like I applied for it, it just happens." He said as he stripped the suit off and put it back on its rack. "What is that some kind of super suit?" Jimmy asked. "With as much battery power as an iPhone. Thing will probably be useless in the rain too." Drew joked. "You ever find Pinky?" Pete asked. Drew looked down and shook his head. "She's gone. Dead. I guess it doesn't surprise me, eye for an eye I suppose. The only thing is Derby took both of his eyes and I kept mine." Drew explained. "You aren't broken up over it?" Jimmy asked. "James, in all honesty I rather would have lost Pinky, rather than you, Christy, Zoe, and especially little Katie. Don't worry I didn't forget about you Pete." Drew said. "Why'd you stay behind?" Pete asked.

"To finish the job. It was the only way all of you would have gotten out. She was a secondary task." Drew said. Jimmy eyed him a bit suspiciously. "She was already dead when you found her, right?" Jimmy asked. "She told me to put her out of her misery. I saw it in her eyes. Nothing I would have done could have saved her. The thing is, she's already been dead for months." Drew stated darkly. "Dramatic aren't you?" Jimmy asked. Soon the group from before came outside and Katie caught sight of Drew and smiled as she ran up to him. "Hey Katie." Drew said as he accepted her hug. "I told you I'd come back baby girl." Drew said. "I'm not a baby." Katie said. "Sure you aren't."

Drew said with a smile nobody even knew existed in his dictionary of expressions. It was a genuine smile of joy. Joy of seeing somebody he cared enough about to make him feel real. With Katie he forgot about his sister, Pinky, his past, nothing else mattered but those two. He only loved her in the sisterly sense, and Katie didn't mind. It was like she was something he could hang onto and feel his sisters' presence, the real version of his happy go lucky sister in Katie, and he felt at home. They both lost siblings to a curse, and they had that connection that would make them somewhat happy.

Subject: Jimmy Hopkins

Everybody stood around amongst himself or herself talking about the military arrival, and Jimmy kept watching Drew hold a happy conversation with Katie. He never knew the guy actually had any sense of emotion, he knew Drew cared, but how far would he go? He's already seen him kill Gary over God knows what reason, his reaction to Pinky's death definitely didn't hold a strong spot in him, multiple deaths occurring over the months didn't even faze him, but Pete did say he just sat next to his bed waiting like a puppy trying to find its owner. Jimmy knew something didn't really feel right, but at this point if the truth about all potential threats aside from the undead was gone, then Jimmy could care less. As long as Drew didn't spontaneously throw a fit of rage over spilt milk he didn't care what his reasoning was. Gary getting killed didn't faze Jimmy either, but the way it happened just didn't even have a big reason behind it, all the "charges" put forth could have been BS, but people didn't question it.

It was because they feared Drew, about what he was potentially capable of doing, and anybody against him would face a wrath worse than God's. Still he got it all done, and they are safe for the time being, so all he had to do was ride it out. Jimmy was full of pride that he and the other people he cared about actually managed to survive, for what its worth, he wished he could have saved the townies for Zoe, he knew she didn't have many friends aside from them, save for Lola and Christy, but that was it. Jimmy, Pete, and those two were the only close people to Zoe now, he didn't want to be pessimistic, but he knew if the undead managed to bust through the front doors again that people wouldn't stand much of a chance, Lola and Dr. Crabblesnitch would probably survive, and maybe Drew if his resilience held up, but unfortunately they would be alive.

All three of them practically the opposites of one another, surviving in a world they were bred to strive in, but having no real attachment, it was clear Drew didn't mind Lola, but it was also another fact that Crabblesnitch would have rather been with people his own age instead of having two young guns, and as for Lola she won't have much of a reason to continue if Johnny croaked, but Jimmy knew this skepticisms would only make him paranoid, but he kept the thoughts at bay. At that moment he heard a clicking sound in the distance and he realized it was his partner. Zoe easily making her way down the stairs and over to Jimmy. "They must have really done something to you." Jimmy said concerned.

"Nothing my parents wouldn't have done. Guess its fair to say I've survived worse." Zoe explained with a weak smile. "No doubt about that. Radio's been silent for a while." Jimmy said changing the subject. "Don't see a reason to send a message yet. They'd probably let us know a day ahead of time, or maybe less." Zoe explained matter of fact. "That's the way these things work." Holly said as she sat next to the couple. "Yeah your boyfriend was in the military right?" Zoe asked. Holly only nodded at the thought of her boyfriend. "What was his name? If you don't mind me asking." Zoe asked. Holly only shrugged as she answered. "Sergeant Mark Philips, Special Ops. Worked directly under a Commander or something. I only met him once, but he was definitely tense." Holly explained. "What did you do before all this?" Zoe asked. Holly only let out a sigh as she pondered over her answer.

"Didn't do much with my life to be honest with you. Dropped out of college, thought I'd be able to join the Navy, but that didn't work out either. So instead I just decided that stealing things was always a thrilling way to make some money. Illegally of course, but only if you're stupid enough to get caught." Holly said with a sleek smile. "Were you ever caught?" Jimmy asked. "Once. Not by the authorities though, but I managed to convince them otherwise." Holly said. Carlos rounded the corner at a slow pace taking in everything. He walked over to Jimmy and stood in place. "Any of you seen Jill around lately?" Carlos asked. "I thought she would have fought on your guys side at Derby's?" Jimmy asked.

"Naw. She wasn't even there during the meeting. I'm starting to get worried; it's been a couple of days. We should send a search party out for her or something." Carlos said. "Try taking it up with Drew." Jimmy said. "I can't. I got a feeling he's got something to do with her disappearance. He was the last guy that might have seen her, and that was before Derby's group attacked. Even if she's gone I'd still like some confirmation. But if she is dead and in the chemical plant where she was supposed to be, then I'd watch your backs if I were you, otherwise you might be next on his hit list." Carlos said as he walked off looking around as Jimmy looked over to Drew who was still in conversation with Katie. "You don't think he'd actually kill us right?" Zoe asked. "Carlos is full of it, but Jill is missing, the only thing is why?" Jimmy asked as he continued staring at Drew.

It wouldn't surprise him if he did do it, but at the same time he'd have no reason to. At that moment everybody in the cafeteria went silent as they heard a static come from the radio at the end of the cafeteria. Drew was the first one to leap up and over to it as Jimmy then got up and made his way over as well, Pete, and Zoe were then slowly in tow, followed by Holly. The static continued as they finally managed to make out the signal. "This is Lieutenant Ryker broadcasting live on the Bullworth Emergency System. Is anybody present?" The Lietunant spoke over the system, as Holly was the first to pick up the radio. "Ryker! It's me Holly." She spoke but the radio only stayed silent. "This is Lieutenant Ryker broadcasting live on the Bullworth Emergency System, please respond." The Lietunant spoke again. "He couldn't hear us?" Jimmy asked. "Comms are down, we can't speak, only listen." Holly said matter of fact.

"This is Lieutenant Ryker, if there is anybody left alive in Bullworth, you must find your own way out, this is the final broadcast you will hear from the military, in less than fifteen minutes, a nuclear missile will be launched under orders of General Pucino, I repeat Bullworth will be gone. The outbreak has become too much to contain, and we cannot directly save anybody until confirmation of survivors is made. Good luck to anybody that manages to survive." Lieutenant Ryker said his final message over the system. "A missile?" Pete asked. "They don't normally do this." Holly said. "Then what do they fucking do? This is America of course the first thing they'd do is launch a goddamn nuke." Jimmy said. "Trust me they wouldn't do this unless somebody told them to. They got a civilian to confirm everybody was gone, the only problem is nobody else got out of Bullworth, so nobody could confirm." Holly explained. "One person did though. Jill." Jimmy said. Drew then turned his head to Jimmy on that note.

"I knew she was a snake from the beginning!" Johnny yelled banging his fist against the wall. "Can't we give a signal to them?" Jimmy asked. "All of the flares are done. Even if we had any it wouldn't be enough. They're launching a nuke, they won't be able to see a flare." Holly said. "So how would we be able to give a signal?" Pete asked. "We don't. We hold out until it comes down, and let it kill us." Zoe said. Jimmy turned to her with surprise on his face. "No… We can't let that happen." Jimmy said.

"It's no use Jimmy. Even if we survive that, which we won't, then where are we going to go? What will we do? I can't do anything right now, and there isn't a thing left to live for anymore. We're better off letting it take us." Zoe explained. "Even after all we've been through? The fighting? Surviving? We're just going to let that happen after all that we've been through?" Jimmy asked. "No." Drew said. Jimmy looked over to him and Drew at him. "That General is Katie's Grandfather. I'm not going to let anything stop her from seeing him again." Drew said. "You can't stop a fucking nuke Drew! You aren't a superhero! Get that out of your damn head!" Jimmy yelled. Drew not being affected at all just started to walk out of the room and out the courtyard. "Where are you going?" Jimmy asked as he and many others followed.

"Hopkins, that nuke is coming down in God knows when, and the only way it can be stopped is detonation outside of the impact zone. If the military sees the nuke blown up, and Bullworth still standing they'll know for sure that somebody is here." Drew explained. Jimmy finally realizing what he was on about, as Drew started to put his flight suit back on, and knowing what needed to be done. "You won't survive." Jimmy finally calmed down. "I know James, but they will. Katie, you make sure you put a bullet in between Jill's eyes for me. Okay? That's your final order." Drew said as Katie nodded through her sadness. "Put a damn good nine in between her eyes. Jimmy, you make sure everybody gets out, and the military knows what happened here." Drew said as Jimmy nodded. Drew finally securing every piece as he looked towards the sky and the alarm started sounding throughout the town. "Looks like a rainy day today, don't you think?" Drew asked as a joke. Jimmy only nodding at him as he chuckled slightly. Drew blasting off into the air as he hunted the nuke down everybody watching simply only out of obligation, and a decision that only luck and fate will decide; life or death. Everybody caught sight of the nuke and saw Drew flying towards it as an impact was made in the distance.
