Thank you for reading.
"Sapphire, where's White?" Chris asked.
"You mean she isn't here?"
"Never mind, maybe she's at her shop." Chris said.
"Why do you ask?" Sapphire asked.
"I was thinking of going out today." Chris replied. "I wanted to see if White had any recommendations for my clothes, but I can do without."
"Good luck."
"Thanks."
"Here, I'll see you at 7. Until then, White."
"See you soon." As the bell chimed to announce the knight's departure, White sank to the floor and buried her face in her hands. "What did I just do?" She moaned.
"Chicken-"
"Outrageous-!"
"The Prince-" Moving through the crowds with her ears alert, Chris stopped and inconspicuously eavesdropped on the young ladies whispering outside the parasol shop.
"Oh yeah. It's a pity only nobles even have a chance. There aren't many girls unwilling to be his bride."
"There's a rumor going around that he's betrothed to Lady Misty."
"You mean the youngest Waterflower sister?"
"The very same. What do you think of this color?"
Chris tuned out their voices as they turned their attention back to their shopping. The Prince was to be married. Interesting, but not the news she was looking for. She was snapped out of her thoughts by a rough hand on her arm and a shadow creeping up on her. Her eyes met a man wearing dark clothes with a feline tattoo.
"Hey, how much?"
She stared. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me. How much for an hour?"
"I'm sorry, sir. I do not partake in such activities."
"Oh come on, loosen up. I'll buy you a drink too." Grabbing her arm, the man started to tug her to a bar. Even as she tried to free herself, Chris knew she was no match for the man. A warm hand freed hers and she found herself staring at the back of an exploding bedhead.
"The lady said no."
"Thank you." Dipping her handkerchief into the well, she carefully wiped away the blood as the man grinned.
"Na, it's nothing."
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, it's fine. They just caught me off-guard with backup."
"Well, I never caught your name."
"Gold. Yours?"
"I'm Chris."
"Pretty name."
"Thank-"
"Chris!" The two turned around. The blonde hair was unmistakable.
"Yellow! Is something wrong?"
"You had me so worried…um…?" Raising an eyebrow, she glanced towards Gold.
"Oh, right. Yellow this is Gold, he saved me from some men. Gold, this is my friend Yellow."
"Nice to meet you." Yellow said extending a hand and a smile.
"You too." Gold grinned. In the distance, the church tower struck 3. "As amusing as it's been, I have to be getting. It was nice meeting you Chris…Yellow." With a short bow and a grin, he was gone.
"But why would the Queen be trying to cover up earthquakes?" Blue asked as White half-listened.
"That's why I'm saying it doesn't make sense. There's also traces of dark magic near the castle." Silver replied leafing through the reports.
"Right, you're done, Blue. Silver you're next. Both of you go change." White ordered ushering Blue off the pedestal.
"Slow down, White." Blue said behind the screen.
"I still have make Yellow's dress and mine too. I don't know if I'll have the time to finish-"
"I'll help." Yellow said as she walked in.
"I will too." Chris added.
"Actually Chris, Emerald and Bill need to see you for something." Blue said stepping out from behind the screen.
"I'll still help." Yellow offered.
"That's kind but-"
"I'll take care of Silver. Why don't you work on the other clothes?"
Distracted, White nodded and walked off to where a white dress was draped over the back of a chair.
The cold touch of steel brought him back to reality. Blinking, Black found Green's sword at his throat. "Why are you so distracted?" Before Black could answer, the door swung open and Gold walked in whistling cheerfully.
"Hey, guess what?" Before the other two could even open their mouths, he answered for them. "I just met the most gorgeous girl in town today."
"Really? I met a girl in town and asked her to come to the ball with me tomorrow." Black grinned.
"I don't think I'll have time to make two dresses." White said feverously sewing.
"Why don't you borrow one of Blue's dresses?" Yellow asked as she adjusted Silver's clothes. "I'm sure she won't mind and you have similar body types and coloring." White stopped short and looked up.
"Why didn't I think of that?"
Sorry to everyone who's been waiting for an update. I got my computer taken away because I almost failed math last semester. I got it back by bringing it up to a B, but I don't know how often I can update but I'll work as hard as I can. Once again, I'm really sorry.
