"Meg, I am positive! I heard him."

"Are you sure though? Maybe he was telling his mum he loved her?"

"No! Meg he said that he loved me! Me!"

"Well… okay. Then I guess he loves you," Meg replied calmly, shrugging.

"Well? Okay?! No Meg not well! Not Okay! Do you-"

"Oh Robin shut up!"

"Excuse me?"

"I said shut up. As in for the love of God stop talking!"

Robin knew that Meg was a straight forward take-no-crap kind of person, but she was never rude like this. "Meg! What's gotten into you?"

She sighed, "Sorry, Robin. Sorry. But here's you complaining that your boyfriend loves you, when let's face it, isn't the end of the freaking world! I love you and Barney to death, get your crap together Robin."

"Whose side are you on Meg?"

"Hmm well considering Barney didn't do anything and hasn't been droning on all day, Barney's. Barney's side! Oh? No clever retort? No real zinger? Thought so, well ciao!" Meg pushed herself up from the booth and stormed out.

Robin grumbled the whole way home, everything was just so frustrating just so, so… ugh! Seeing Barney only added fuel to the sour fire.

"Hey," Barney mumbled as Robin crossed the threshold into their house.

"Are you really only going to say hey?" You're supposed to love me, remember?

"Um… yeah, I guess."

"Well fine, but guess what Meg said today? She was such a pill today."

Barney scoffed.

"What?"

"You've been the pill, Robin! And I only say this because-"Oh no no no, don't say it. Don't say I love you. "I care about you." Robin let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in.

"You're the pill," she mumbled and crossed her arms, pouting.

"Aw, look at you." Barney lifted her chin and kissed her forehead in a way that could only be described as loving, which in turn made Robin scared all over again. Barney, being the way he is, started to take it a couple of steps further, kissing her deeply and passionate.

Robin reluctantly broke of the kiss to say something. Anything. "Hmm you're getting crow's feet babe."

Panic spreads across his face and he sulks. "I don't like you anymore," he teases lips in a full on pout.

"I thought you loved me!" Robin blurted surprising both herself and Barney.

"Whaaaaa?"

Heavy, fat tears begin to stream down her face. She runs outside, where it's now pouring, talk about cliché. Barney follows her and gives her a questioning look. "I heard you tell your mom… that- that you loved me." By this point she is full on sobbing and Barney pulls her firmly into his arms.

"Oh, Robin, that shouldn't have been the way you heard it…" he muses remorsefully.

"No, no. That's not why I'm crying. I actually really like your speech," she pokes his ribs and looks up at him. "I'm cry- my eyes are sweating because I- I ugh! Why is this so hard?"

"Maybe if I make you made, you'll be able to blurt it out." Robin gives him a curious look to which he sheepishly replies, "It's kind of a pattern of yours."

"Well… okay. You need some work on your bantering anyway." She smiles and he laughs.

"Alright Scherbatsky, you're begging for it. Ready?" She nods. "What is up with your hair? One day it's curly, now it's straight. Get it together!" Robin cracks up and so does Barney.

"I told you, you need to practice!"

"Okay, fine." He relents, hands up in the air. "Are you ready to tell me now?"

Robin nods and looks down then up, watching the rain, before mumbling to the nearest puddle "I love you."

"Hmm?" He creases his eyebrows together, looking at her intently.

"I love you."

"What?" Barney yells, grinning like an idiot because he heard it the first time.

Robin rolls her eyes but plays along, "I LOVE YOU!" she screams.

Barney laughs and leans over her, faces temptingly close, "Say it again."

"I love you," she whispers, looking into his eyes. His lips sweep quickly down to meet hers.

"I love you," they take turns saying it, both breathless and soaked.
