Lots of Emarni and Chloe in this chapter, because they're cute and I love writing them. Also, because something really bad happens in the next chapter... And I feel guilty about writing it...

Again, this isn't my best writing. It's pretty bad actually. Lots of Romanian and stuff- if it's not accurate, sorry.

Oh yeah, I meant to say: Grayson says that it's okay to bite someone, drink their blood and then give them some of your blood. This is not technically a way of turning someone, but I didn't want to kill Chloe off, OKAY?

Usual disclaimer and please read and review. You are lovely people, you.

THE ANGELS WILL ALWAYS CRY - THE ANGELS WILL ALWAYS CRY

"Grayson!" Emarni yelled, as she ran through the front doors. She was carrying Chloe easily in her strong arms. Instantly, Grayson was at her side, lifting Chloe from her arms. Wearily, Emarni followed them into the unliving room, frowning in worry.
"What happened?" Grayson asked, placing Chloe on the sofa.
"Why do you care? Chloe is going to die!" Emarni's voice was much higher pitched then she expected it to be. She was wringing her fingers together and was wearing a worried expression. George appeared in the doorway, half asleep and in her purple pyjamas. She yawned, brushing her curls out of her eyes.
"What's going on?" she mumbled.
"Nothing, George." Grayson said, "This is all a dream. Go back to bed."
"If this is a dream, aren't I already in bed?" George said in puzzlement, but she went back up the stairs anyway. Then, Grayson turned to Emarni, who seemed to be hyperventilating extremely well for a vampire.
"She's not going to die." Grayson reassured her, "She's going to turn." In confusion, Emarni blinked at him. She knelt beside Chloe's broken body and stroked the girl's hair out of her eyes.
"You drank from her." Grayson said, "Right?" Emarni had told him, because of the new rules about not keeping secrets. She nodded, still confused.
"Then, she died." Grayson shrugged, "The rules are complicated, but if she drinks some of your blood, she'll become a full vampire."
"That sounds really stupid." Emarni pouted.
"There is more than one way to turn someone." Grayson said, "Trust me. I've seen many people turned." It made enough sense to Emarni, who bit down hard on her own wrist. As it began to bleed, Emarni tried her hardest to ram her wrist down Chloe's throat.
"Calm, Emarni." Grayson held his goddaughter by the shoulders. Emarni's blood dripped down Chloe's throat slowly, like a river running down a hill. It trickled over her tongue, filling up her mouth. It began to pour out of her mouth, which was when Grayson grabbed Emarni by the arm.
"Emarni!" Grayson pulled the girl back, "You've fed her, okay? Now, leave her. Go to bed." Emarni shook her head in determination, collapsing on the floor besides Chloe.
"Staying." she mumbled sleepily. With a sigh, Grayson grabbed a blanket off a nearby chair and threw it over her. Emarni was sleeping within mere seconds.

Chloe did not sleep anywhere near as well, thrashing frantically with terrible nightmares. Every now and again, Emarni would force herself to sit up and she would stroke Chloe's hair, muttering in Romanian. Chloe would fall quiet and Emarni would pass out again. Silently, Grayson watched as Emarni woke herself up for the seventh time and began to whisper to Chloe.
"Esti respiratia mea, viata mea, si totul care conteaza. Viata este prea scurta ca sa avem timp si pentru tristete." Emarni told her, "Dragă." Quietly, Grayson translated under his breath:
"You are my breath, my world and everything that matters. The life is too short to have time for sadness too. Sweetheart." Then, he frowned. Since when did Emarni call Chloe sweetheart. Unless... No way... They couldn't like each other, could they? It was true, Emarni had never shown any interest towards boys. And Chloe had never shown any interest towards anyone. But it did explain a lot.
"Dragă." Emarni repeated, falling back into sleep easily. To be honest, Grayson was glad Emarni was here. He would have never have been able to calm Chloe down like that.
"How cute." Grayson thought aloud, looking at the two blonde girls. Their hands were still intertwined, when morning broke.

The blinds/curtains in Grayson's house were never drawn back, so it was no bother when the sun rose. Chloe sat up suddenly, clutching at her throat. Already on the alert, Emarni was awake within a few seconds of the other girl.
"Chloe, dragă." Emarni rubbed her eyes, "Ce mai fici?" Then, she paused and corrected herself, "How are you?"
"I need to learn Romanian." Chloe said, not even missing a beat, "I need to know what you're saying. I want to know what you're saying."
"Chloe. You okay? Feeling any... Deader?" Grayson suggested, as if he had picked the word out of thin air. Chloe's hands flew to her throat, where the knife wound was still visible.
"Oh, god!" she exclaimed, "You guys are vampires!"
"Yay!" Emarni clapped cheerfully, "Took you long enough!" She grinned helpfully, as all of Chloe's memories came flooding back.

They leapt from roof to roof, their shoulders rubbing against each other's. Their arms were wrapped around each other, their hands clinging to each other. The monsters had faded into the distance and there was no way they were going to make it home.
"The sun's beginning to rise." Ingrid said, and it was. The glow of the morning light was on the verge of hitting them.

"Ingrid? Ingrid? Ingrid?" Malik shook her by the shoulders, "Ingrid!" The vampire didn't move, her eyes still closed. She looked deader than usual.
"Ingrid!" Malik yelled, "Come on, wake up! I love you, goddamnit!" Then, he paused. This was the first time he had ever actually used those words; I love you. He didn't like how they tasted in his mouth.
"Malik?" Ingrid muttered, weakly. She pushed herself up on her elbows and looked around.
"I feel dizzy." she mumbled, as Malik hugged her tightly. For the second time, he paused. Nope, hugging wasn't comfortable either. He pulled back.
"You slept with Olga." Ingrid remembered, "And the second I can see straight, I'm going to hit you very hard in between the eyes." She was significantly paler, like someone had sucked the life out of her- how ironic.
"But first I'm going to do this." Ingrid said. She grabbed him by the front of his shirt and pulled him closer. She kissed him quickly, their tongues barely touching. Then, she hit him hard- like she promised- in between the eyes.
"Ow!" Malik laughed, pulling away.
"That didn't hurt you at all, did it?" Ingrid said and he shook his head. She laughed lightly.
"Just you wait, Malik Hellfire Vaccaria!" Ingrid was laughing, which made it a little less threatening.
"I'm quaking in fear." Malik teased.
"You should be." Ingrid said.

She was holding Chloe's hand, as she slept through the day. Turning into a vampire was tiring, which was why Chloe had passed out and refused to wake up.
"Emarni, can I have a word?" Grayson spoke to her quietly. Nodding, Emarni followed him into the next room, shutting the door behind her quietly.
"I wanted to talk to you about Chloe." Grayson said. Emarni looked down at her feet, her messy curls falling in front of her face.
"How do you feel about her?" Grayson said, "Honestly." There was a moment of quiet, while Emarni fiddled with the necklace that hung around her neck.
"I like her. A lot." Emarni probably would've been blushing, if she could, "Is that wrong?"
"No, of course not." Grayson said, "It's perfectly okay for you to like whoever you want, whether it be girls, boys, zombies..."
"Maybe not zombies." Emarni laughed.
"Maybe not zombies." Grayson agreed, "But there's nothing wrong with you liking Chloe and I want you to understand that. Because, when you were growing up, it wasn't considered okay. And I want you to know that it is."
"You are overdoing it." Emarni said, "But I understand."
"Good." Grayson hugged Emarni tightly, "You're a wonderful girl, Emarni."
"Thank you." Emarni said.
"Are you alright?" Grayson frowned at her. She nodded, brushing her hair back. She didn't look alright, she looked positively haunted.
"I am going to go and shower." Emarni said, darting out of the room before he could ask more questions.

Vlad and Talitha had already hit the books, researching what the heck had just happened. Talitha had her knees up and was resting a book against them.
"It's highly likely that the bracelets aren't just feeding off your flesh, but your memories and your feelings. They're literally feeding off you as a person, devouring us." Talitha said.
"That doesn't really explain why we saw Boris." Vlad said, shaking the bracelet off his wrist. He tossed it across the room and it clinked against the wall, into the rubbish bin.
"The Council of Elders are using us, to pull themselves into this world. That was the Council, taking the form we'd hate the most." Talitha said, "We just met the Council of Elders. They fed off our fear to make themselves strong."
"Us?" Vlad asked. Holding up her wrist, Talitha showed him the bracelet that clung to her wrist. Oh.
"You met The Council of Elders?" The Count demanded, grabbing the pair by the shoulders. Both of them jumped, looking up at him.
"Yeah." Vlad said, "They took the forms of Boris and Roquelaire." The Count looked down at the bracelet on his wrist and looked horrified.

He was pretty sure that Ingrid was taking advantage of him. He was certain, when she sent him to get her something to drink. She was only two metres away from the fridge.
"You feeling any better?" Malik asked, handing her a bottle of vintage.
"I'm still annoyed with you." Ingrid said, "Olga?" She snorted in disapproval, "If it was someone vaguely interesting... I would let you off if it were Emarni..."
"Emarni's my sister." Malik scoffed. Easily, Ingrid pulled the cork out of the bottle of blood and drank from it. The sweet liquid flooded down her throat, warming her from head to toe. She wiped the blood off her lips.
"Your turn." Ingrid said, handing Malik the bottle. He tipped the blood down his throat, without missing a beat.
"So..." Malik rebottled the blood and crossed the room, "Will, hm?" He opened the fridge, sliding the bottle inside. Ingrid was playing with the hem of her skirt.
"He was my first boyfriend." Ingrid admitted.
"And you still like him?" Malik's tone was slightly bitter.
"And you still like Olga." Ingrid didn't phrase it as a question. There was a pause, as the pair looked at each other. And all the good times they had had together were forgotten.
"I'm calling off our engagement. Seeing as you're so hung up on Will." Malik didn't even sound angry, just... Bitter. The first person who had genuinely liked him. Oh, well. And though Ingrid felt upset, she didn't stop him storming from the room.

Standing outside the bathroom door, Chloe was sure that Emarni held the world record for the longest shower in the world. Emarni knew that Chloe was standing outside, which is why she was taking an incredibly long time.
"Emarni..." Chloe knocked against the door tiredly, "Hurry up..." As if by magic, Emarni shoved the door open, still getting dressed. She was pulling her plain white t-shirt on, as she walked past Chloe. She didn't say anything to her; maybe she was ignoring Chloe?
"Emarni." Chloe called after her. The girl spun around, pulling her checked red shirt on and rolling up the sleeves. Looking at her, Chloe's mouth completely dried up and she forgot what she was going to say.
"Nothing." she mumbled, ducking into the bathroom. The shower always smelt nice after Emarni had been in there. She had a really nice shampoo that smelt really strongly of cinnamon and her body gel was strawberry. Which was why, the bathroom was full of beautifully scented steam.
"Goddamn." Chloe breathed in deeply, "Emarni uses a lot of shower gel." She turned the shower on.

As Chloe massaged her own shampoo into her hair, she couldn't help thinking about Emarni. The girl seemed to be ignoring her, for reasons that Chloe didn't know. But Emarni hadn't just shut Chloe out, she seemed to be ignoring everyone. Chloe didn't have anything to say to the vampire and even when she did, she always got too nervous and forgot what she was going to say. Water splashed in Chloe's eyes, completely blurring her vision. Another person she couldn't stop thinking about was Vlad. She had forgotten all about him being a vampire. She wondered if he still thought about her. It was silly, but Chloe used to be in love with him. She had never known if he liked her back.

And Robin. The other person she couldn't stop thinking about. He had tried to kill her and while Grayson had reassured her that it was a demon taking Robin's form, it was still weird to have been attacked by Robin. It felt like her brother hated her and... Oh god, Chloe nearly choked on the shower water. She had totally forgotten all about Emarni's own encounter with the fear demon. And Chloe had been horrible too.
"What would you know? Your brother hates you. Your whole family hates you." Chloe had snarled at Emarni. No wonder Emarni was upset! She thought everyone hated her. Oh gosh, that poor girl.
"Oh my god." Chloe muttered. She had to go and find Emarni.
