Alex's POV (Polyvore)
I stood together the boys outside a shop, admiring the go-cart we were saving money for. Suddenly I heard Kim's voice,
"Hey guys," she said casually. I turned towards her and,
"Wow…" I said and faded out, staring at her hair. Afro is not a too good color on Kim… and yeah, I know it's not a color!
"Wow, Kim, you look different… hot date tonight?" Milton asked not wanting to offend her.
"…with a clown?" Jack said making me laugh, but I quickly ate my laughter as she sent me one of her glares.
"Go ahead and laugh but, I just got us 10 bucks closer to buying that go-cart," Kim said pointing at the wonder, "Welford Beauty College is paying people to be their practice dummy," Kim said and curled her hair around a finger. Well, great way of earning money without having to do anything, but also great way to humiliate oneself…
"My cousin Chewy goes there, you know for his final he trimmed my grandmother's mustache, went through three pairs of scissors, but he got most of it!" Jerry smiled as we started walking towards the dojo.
"Man, I cannot wait till we get that go-cart!" Eddie said excitedly and we all stated our agreement!
"Alright time to kick in," my brother said and found the small box we put the money in.
"I made 40 bucks by visiting my grandaunt Betty, every time I go, she thinks it's my birthday and gives me money, I went four times yesterday," he said and placed his contribute into the box. I smiled, oh grandaunt Betty, at least she never forgets your birthday!
"And I went twice," Jack said and Milton and I looked confused at him. How can our grandaunt not recognize us, I wonder who he said he was, well, Betty probably doesn't remember our names anyway – sadly.
"Cindy Connors gave me 10 bucks to stop asking her out in front of her boyfriend," Eddie said pulling his money out of his pocket.
"Well, I finally got my salary from the dance classes I teach, 160 bucks," I said and grabbed the money out of my purse. We had all kicked in money now, without Jerry, he had kicked out! He borrowed money to buy a corndog…
"Come on Jerry, you're the only one who hasn't contributed to the go-cart fond," Jack said as I sat down after we had found the note.
"Dude, I haven't got the talent to earn money, I even tried selling doors, door to door; do you know how hard it is to find a house without a door?" Jerry asked making lift an eyebrow in disbelief, how did he find a house without a door…?
"You guys are never gonna guess how I just made 10 dollars," Rudy walked in the door with a rat on his head. Oh, but just as you know, it wasn't really a rat, it was hair…
"Eh, practice dummy at the Welford Beauty College?" Kim guessed looking at his hair
"No, I sold my old golf shoes," he stated confused, "What's this about a beauty college?"
The next day I (Polyvore) walked into the dojo together with Kim. When we entered Jack and Milton were training, but they ended up screaming. They took a look at Kim and her clown-like hair looked horrifying! You know, I actually screamed by the look of her too…
"Another 10 bucks towards the go-cart," Kim said waving the bill in the air.
"So, has Jerry put any money in yet?" I asked them as we walked further into the dojo.
"I haven't seen Jerry in two days," Milton said and when thinking about it, I haven't either.
"Eh, guys, we were pretty rough on him, he's probably embarrassed he can't kick in enough for the go-cart," Jack defended him making me think back at what happened. I guess we were kinda rough on him. Just then we heard this screeching sound.
All of us hurried outside the dojo to see what was going on. When we got outside we saw Jerry, driving the go-cart, we all wanted so badly.
"Oh, hey you guys, you like my new ride?" Jerry asked us as he stepped out of the go-cart and removed his helmet.
"You bought our go-cart?" Jack asked him in disbelief as he threw Kim his helmet.
"Yeah, I eh, I decided to go solo," Jerry answered cocky, oh that little rat!
"Two days ago you couldn't go solo on a gumball," I said annoyed crossing my arms.
"Well that was before I got a job delivering meatballs for the meatball king, Chiquita," Jerry answered nonchalantly. I lifted an eyebrow at him as my jaw slowly dropped. Jerry got a phone call and we all looked at the go-cart.
"You know what, doll, why don't you go get yourself fixed?" Jerry asked looking at Kim holding out some money.
"That's it!" Kim yelled and was about to jump him, when she was held back. He got into the go-cart and drove off; oh that go-cart is so insanely cool!
"I really wanna be mad at him, but he looks so cool," Milton said admiring Jerry in his new go-cart and clothing.
"Did you hear what he just called me…?" I asked pointing in the direction he just sped off, "Did you?" I asked turning towards them. They shrugged,
"You mean Chiquita?" Milton asked, "He called Kim, doll."
"Yeah, I mean Chiquita, he just called me tiny or dainty, either way he has no rights!" I complained and stomped inside the dojo again.
I sat at Falafel Phil with Jack and Kim.
"I still cannot believe that Jerry bought our go-cart," Jack said leaning towards the back of his chair.
"This goes way beyond the go-cart, ever since he started working for the meatball king; he's been a whole different person. If he calls me doll one more time I'm gonna pummel him!" Kim stated angrily.
"I know! If he can't stop using that name, Chiquita is gonna chi-kick his butt!" I said annoyed crossing my arms over my chest as I leant back on the chair.
"Ok, three falafel for you," Phil came with our order, "Oh, holy ganoush!" he exclaimed looking at Kim with wide eyes.
"I know Phil, my hair looks hideous," Kim said while rolling her eyes.
"I can fix this; I've seen worse," Phil stated and ripped of the straps on his apron revealing pockets with…hair fixing stuff. "Do you mind if my fingers dance with your haar," he said pronouncing hair very strangely.
"Do you even know anything about haar?" Jack said imitating his pronunciation of hair.
"Don't worry baby, I know what I'm doing, I'm frosting Tootsie's tips as we speak," Phil said and his goat walked out from the kitchen, it's kinda unappetizing that he has a goat in the kitchen! "No Tootsie, you're not ready yet, five more minutes, back under the lamp, go, go-go, go, go," he told his goat. Phil started blow drying Kim's hair.
As Phil was fixing up Kim's hair a man came in. He was tall and was wearing black clothes. He told Phil he had to pay his bill, (Note the rhyme in there) and that he wasn't playing games and it was kinda creepish… The man was about to punch Phil when Jack catched his fist. Kim and I got in front of Phil to protect him if the man should get past Jack. Easily, Jack kicked the guy out of the tavern, no literally, he kicked him out!
"Phil, who was that guy?" Jack asked turning around, facing towards us.
"He collects the money for the meatballs that I do not need, but is forced to buy," Phil explained relieved that the guy was gone, but still slightly worked up.
"From who?" I asked having a fishy feeling in my gut. Meatballs…from who other could it be?
"The meatball king," Phil answered confirming my suspicion.
"The meatball king?" Jack asked shocked. No wonder, the Meatball king was after all Jerry's…
"That's Jerry's boss!" Kim exclaimed, yup that's it!
Suddenly Tootsie bleated as she walked through the doors from the kitchen.
"Oh, that's great Tootsie, now why would such a good little goat eat her tips?" Phil asked the tip-loose goat. Seconds later we heard a ringing noise coming from…coming from the goat! "And her timer," Phil said sounding given in his goat
"The twitching stopped; I think the swelling is probably starting to go down. How does it look?" Rudy asked removing the bandage over his nose. Milton struggled to hold back his convulsing, before putting on a small smile.
"Yeah, maybe a couple of more minutes," he smiled as we rushed over to them.
"Is Jerry in here?" Kim asked being the first one to reach them.
"Yeah, he's in the locker room," Milton said pointing towards them, just as Jerry himself walked out.
"Um, what are you wearing?" I (Polyvore) asked quirking my eyebrow at his black, tiger gi.
"Costume made gi," Jerry said before the gi roared when he pushed a button.
"That is the tackiest gi I've ever seen, I mean where would one go to buy such a thing?" Rudy asked, "In a medium," he added shortly after with a curious expression on his face.
"Jerry, your new boss is forcing people into buying meatballs – he's a criminal!" Jack exclaimed.
"Sure he is," Jerry said sarcastically, making me roll my eyes, "You know what, you're just jealous…" Jerry didn't get to finish before Phil ran in through the doors, carrying a note,
"The Meatball King stole Tootsie!" he exclaimed in full on panic as Jerry took the note from him.
"What?" we all said in shock, how would he even know about Tootsie?
"Give me my money or the goat gets it, the Meatball King," Jerry read out loud with wide eyes staring down at the small piece of paper, "Well, that doesn't prove anything. You know how many Meatball King's there are in the world?" he asked us trying to make his boss sound innocent.
"He took Tootsie!" Jack said leaving Jerry defenseless.
"You know how many Tootsies there are in the world?"
"Jerry!" Kim snapped.
"I get it, I'm working for a criminal," he admitted with an upset expression. He let out a sigh, before turning around and heading towards the locker rooms, when the tail on his gi began rotating.
"I've gotta get one of those gis," Rudy said after looking at the tail.
End of POV
They sat together in the dojo waiting to what Rudy had to say. He was on the phone with a police officer explaining the situation.
"Uh, that's right officer tootsie's a goat, oh, ok then thanks, take care," he said into the phone before he hung up. All of us looked at him anxiously, "They're not gonna help us," he said putting his phone away.
"Oh, I'll never see my Tootsie ever again!" Phil cried upset sitting down on one of the benches.
"It's ok Phil; let's look at her photo album over again," Kim said supportingly.
"Oh, ok," Phil said and placed the photo album on his lap and opened it on the first page, "Oh this is my favorite it's from her bæærmitswa," Phil cried again studying the photo.
"This is all my fault, I just saw an opportunity to make some really good money and didn't realize what I was doing," Jerry said as he stood up from his chair upset.
"Oh, I must figure out a way to pay this ransom!" Phil said willing to do anything to get his goat back.
"And then what? You'll be back to overpaying for meatballs that you don't need," Jack said standing up and walking over to Phil, "Guys we need to stop him!" he stated looking back at his friends, before locking eyes with Alex. They all gave an agreeing nod although they didn't how they could stop them.
"But how?" Phil asked, being the only to actually say it out loud.
"Yeah, it's not like I can just stick my phone under my chest, go into the meatball king and record his confession, then take the evidence to the police department," Jerry said with a snicker not finding it possible.
"You guys really think this will work?" he asked in disbelief as Milton taped Jerry's phone to his chest.
"Absolutely, we'll record the whole confession here at the dojo," Milton assured making Jerry smile more sure of the plan. His phone began ringing and Jerry grew a wider smile.
"Oh-ho Cindy Myers; gotta take this one," he said and brought his hand to his phone. He ripped it off leaving a rectangle mark, free of hair where the phone had been taped on his chest, and let out a high shriek. He quickly pulled it together though and answered the phone as if it never happened, "Yo, what it do girl?" he asked walking further away from the others.
Alex's POV
I sat in the dojo next to Jack, with Phil, Milton, Kim and Rudy. We had plugged a phone into a speaker and had it placed on top of a recorder so we would have everything the Meatball King said on tape.
"Ok, I'm going in," Jerry said making me take a nervous breath.
"What do you wanna see me about Jerry?" it was the Meatball King, "I'm busy," he stated.
"Well, eh, you know, I was eh, I was just in the neighborhood and I was wondering what your thoughts are on you know crime and all the other stuff. Particularly visavi, eh, you know, goat stealing and before you answer can you please state your full name," Jerry said a bit shaky at first. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what the Meatball King would say. It sounded pretty obvious that Jerry knew about them taking Tootsie when he mentioned goat stealing…
"Jerry, I don't have a lot of time for this, is there a reason why you're here?" the Meatball King asked. I brought my arm to my mouth and carefully scratched my knuckles with my teeth nervously. I tend to do that when I'm nervous, just a way to calm me down.
"Yeah, there is king, I know you goat-napped Tootsie, I was the one who told you about her and I want a piece of the action!" Jerry stated. I was anxious to hear the Meatball King's answer. I hoped he would somehow take light on it and not care that Jerry knew he was a criminal, but one could never know.
Beep
I stared wide eyed, but blankly at the phone.
"Oh no, we got disconnected!" Milton said as I was wondering what could've happened. Was Jerry in trouble? Or was there just something wrong with the signal?
"What should we do?" I asked letting my hand drop onto my lap. We exchanged looks before Kim proposed we'd call him back.
"Yeah!" they others screamed as Kim quickly pushed a button on the screen.
"She's so smart…" Phil said as we waited for him to pick up. Shoot, how was he supposed to pick up? I mean now his phone's under his shirt, when Cindy called him had to rip the phone off, he can't do that now!
"Eh guys, how is he gonna pick up?" I asked after the thoughts had just raced through my mind. Everybody looked at me,
"He just has to press the button and, oh no, how is he gonna pick up!?" Rudy exclaimed realizing what I was thinking about, "Hang up, hang up!" he yelled in full on panic. Kim tried to tap the cancel button, but the screen froze.
"It's not working!" she panicked trying to tap the button over again and we all tried to make the phone hang up somehow. After a while of desperately trying to cancel the phone call, the voicemail went off telling us that the phone was no longer in use.
We sat anxiously in the dojo waiting for something to happen, when Jerry stumbled through the doors. He was covered in sot, suds and dust and it looked like he had been electrocuted, but survived. He sat down on a bench and began explaining everything that happened to us.
"What I don't understand; is why you're covered in suds," Kim said as she sat down next to him.
"Well, just before I almost burst into flames, I ran through the car wash, where I realized two things, one, you know that blow dryer at the end; it can literally blow your freckles off. And two, the Meatball King was talking to his boss on the phone today and he was scared to death of him," Jerry explained looking to all of us.
"Well how does that help us?" Jack asked while I was wondering how the carwash made him realize that.
"Well, he's never seen the guy, they call him the Schnoz," Jerry informed. Well, what a great name the Schnoz was blessed with. Get it? Schnoz, like nose…blessed with, bless you..? Huh? Huh? …Alright I'll just stop talking…!
"Why do they call him that?" Milton asked narrowing his eyebrows slightly.
"Because he's got one narly looking honker," Jerry smirked before he quirked both eyebrows in realization. We all turned towards Rudy looking his swollen nose hidden under a ton of bandages.
"What?" he asked confused with a small smile, as all of us were smiling.
Phil brought an empty suitcase to the middle of the mall. Together Rudy, Jack, Kim, Milton and Jerry, I (Polyvore) was standing behind a wall in the fog, so the Meatball King and his team wouldn't be able to see us. Jerry walked towards the mean, out of the fog.
"Jerry, shouldn't you be making a delivery?" I heard the Meatball King ask, I could recognize his voice from the short recording we had done.
"I'm done with deliveries, when I took this job I didn't know what kind of person you were, but I do now," Jerry answered confidently. I couldn't hear everything they said as I was helping Milton adjust his black headband. He was wearing an orange jogging suit, Kim a pink, Jack blue, Rudy green and I was wearing a purple one. Purple, the color of purpose, it's not my favorite color, but still like it a lot. The jumper was zipped hallways up, showing my black tank top and spiky necklace. I was also wearing a black snapback cap with "OBEY" printed in white letters.
"Goat boy is a friends of mine, in fact he's got a lot of friends, some you might even know," I heard Jerry say and we started walking towards them.
"Oh yeah, like who?" the Meatball King asked in disbelief.
"The Schnoz," Rudy said with a different voice. I pulled my sleeves up to my elbows and crossed them over my chest as we walked up to them. "I would've been here earlier, but I got lost in all this fog," Rudy said waving an arm in front of him.
"I swear on my mama's meatballs, if I knew Phil was a friend of yours; I would never disrespect him!" the Meatball King stated, "Derk, give him the goat!" he commanded the bald guy from Falafel Phil's.
"Tootsie, welcome back to the family," Rudy said and sat down petting the goat.
"Let's go, Tootsie," Phil said and led the goat away. Rudy stood up. I looked at him and widened my eyes; bit my teeth together when I saw that he wasn't wearing his fake mustache anymore.
"You don't know how lucky you are that not a hair on Tootsie's, the goat ate my fake mustache didn't it?" Rudy asked us noticing the odd stares he got, and we all nodded. I lifted my hands slightly, ready to defend myself when the obvious tension broke into a battle.
One of the guys went at Jack, but he kicked him over a table. The fight erupted and a guy came towards me. He seemed to be the youngest, several years younger than the others. I dodged to the left by moving my rear foot and quickly switched their placement as I entered a turning kick. He blocked the kick, but was pushed backwards.
"You're too young to be a criminal!" I said and sidestepped a back kick. I mean, why would someone that young, he seemed to be about seventeen or so, get involved in a life of crime. It doesn't pay off! It'll get you head first to prison. He came around with a roundhouse kick. I bent backwards to dodge the kick and pushed a hand into the ground to maintain my balance. After the kick passed, I pulled myself up and blocked a backhand.
"You're too young to fight crime," he said and tried to hit me with a front kick. I lifted my knee and blocked the kick by pushing it outwards and did a front hooking kick. He dodged, but I felt my black and purple, Supra skytop "Holt" sneer his shoulder.
"I don't think so," I answered and jumped in with a front kick. He stepped backwards as I attacked with a roundhouse kick. The guy dodged underneath it, so I kicked it back as a turning kick, hitting his upper arm full on. He winced and dodged my tornado kick by taking a step backwards. I threw a back hand at him, but he blocked it and pushed it back towards my center. I was turned so that I saw Milton, getting his opponent in the ground.
"Hey good job, Milton!" I cheered giving him thumbs up. He smiled, before his expression turned worried,
"Watch out, Alex!" he called pointing behind me. I was about to turn back around, when he grabbed me around my arms. I tried to push his arms out, but when I couldn't do it, I went for another technique. I flipped to the side, throwing him around me, so that he hit the ground first. The sudden impact, made him drop his grip. I rolled up onto my feet again, as he pulled himself up next to a wall. I took two small steps before jumping up, pushing one foot into the wall, allowing me to land a front kick in his chest, sending him sliding about a meter away from me.
"Yeah, you're definitely too young to be a criminal," I smirked victoriously. I mean winning a sparring or beating the black dragons is something, but taking down a criminal, is way more fun!
"Rudy, meatball bazooka!" I heard Milton yell. I turned around to see the Meatball King aiming at Rudy. He looked terrified, I really only rolled my eyes. The thing shot meatballs, how bad could it be?
"Rudy!" Jerry cried and lunged in front of him, taking every hit from the meatballs. I winced as the meatballs did seem to hurt after all as Jerry fell onto the ground. Rudy sprinted towards the Meatball King, but Derk hurried towards Rudy instead. Rudy got Derk running away though, but then the Meatball King loaded the meatball bazooka, ready to shoot. Rudy backed off, hoping that he wouldn't.
"Freedom!" I heard a strangely familiar voice yell from the ventilation. I cocked my head to the right as an orange figure fell out, landing on top of the Meatball King. The person stood up and I realized it was Joan, wearing an orange prison suit. I lifted an eyebrow as she said,
"This is where we go our separate ways. Good luck, kid," to Eddie who was still in the vent.
"Good bye, Norma!" he waved before bringing his hand to his heart. What was that all about?
"I can't believe you did this to me, Jerry, I treat you like my son; you were like family!" the King exclaimed as he had gotten to his feet again.
"You're not my family, these people are my family," Jerry stated and we all gathered around him.
"All I know is your family's crazy! Let's get out of here guys!" he said and hurried out of the mall. I sat down on one of the pots next to Jack, placing my hand over his, unnoticed by the others of course. I could see from my side vision that he smiled, making me smile. Rudy and Eddie walked off talking about a receipt and lying.
"I just wanna say how sorry I am. I let the whole job thing get to my head. And money should never be more important than friendship," Jerry stated looking at all of us. Both Jack and I stood up,
"You're right, but in the end you where the one that came up with the plan to get tootsie back and on top of that you hot yourself a go kart," Jack said walking over to him.
"No," Jerry said with a smile, "We got ourselves a go kart," he smirked. My lips curved into a wide smile and I gave Kim and Milton a high five. Suddenly an orange road-racer whizzed past us.
"Two hours to Mexico, losers!" Joan yelled driving Jerry's red go-cart. We all looked back her, where she was driving to Mexico apparently. The mall's security guard just stole a go-cart…!
Ok, guys that was it! Ehm, hope you liked it! No big Jalex moments, but I will make up for it by adding many in probably next chapter. And I got a question on why the cheerleaders stopped bullying Alex; I decided I'll make a chapter, where I add in many of Alex's personal thoughts and maybe some flashbacks to explain it! And don't forget to check out Polyvore!
