I am so sorry! It's been way too long; I shouldn't have left you guys hanging, just- just SORRY! I hope you guys will find it in your hearts to forgive me? Anyway, I you enjoy this next chapter!
Robin came back hours later, when she was sure Barney would be dead asleep. But he wasn't. Far from it actually.
Barney sat expectantly at the door. Candles covered the dim room, flicking their tongues boldly out into the darkness. And what else could you say? It was beautiful.
Robin, however, furrowed her brow, sick of lame grand-gesture apologies. They weren't her style, and they weren't Barney's either.
"What are you doing?" she sighed.
"This." Barney bent down, producing a small box from his pocket. "Robin Scherbatsky, since I've met you, I've… changed. I'm not going to say you've made me a better person because, well, barf. But I will say that you've made me care. It's horrifying and scary, but worth it if I get you. I love you. I do, I love fighting with you and teasing you and making you blush and trying to impress you, but never actually doing it. I love it all. I can't promise you stability or even social standing or whatever- but I can promise you a life full of surprise and excitement, and most of all love. So with that said… Robin Scher-bat-sky, will you marry me?"
"Yes, yes!" Robin gasped. He reached up to touch her wet cheeks and kissed her, showing her the promises on his tongue for a happy life.
