I'm so sorry! Do I even have to say it at this point? I'm so thankful for all the reviews, and believe me; it's killing me that I can't do the same for you guys. I'll try my best to carve out time, but first the 24th chapter of Heroes Don't Wear Helmets.
Robin turned over and sighed contentedly as she faced her now fiancé. Curled up in the warmth of the covers and Barney's arms, she never wanted to leave – if so she wasn't anxious to burst through the doors and tell everyone the big news, she wouldn't. But Robin could stay here for a little while longer. Just a few minutes at least.
…
Barney draped his arm protectively around Robin as he led them to Puzzles. His own excitement crackled in the air and he was almost sure Robin heard it too. The gang- Lily especially- were sure to try and make this day a perfect one once they heard the news. They could groan and roll their eyes, but Barney and Robin loved every second they had in the spotlight.
The door smacked closed and Barney saw his friends.
"Big news!" He couldn't keep the smile from his voice.
"Big news is right," Ted called back, grinning hugely at them.
"Huh?" Barney and Robin said simultaneously.
"Lily?" Ted voice expectantly, but Lily didn't need words. She held up a beautiful cherub-faced baby.
"Wow," Robin breathed, unknowingly creeping closer to the infant. "What's the name?" she still whispered.
"Marvin," Marshall spoke longingly, a little choked up, "Just like my dad."
"That's- that's awesome bro," Barney slapped him excitedly on the back. Marshall grinned up at his well-meaning friend. He wasn't great with words or emotions - and especially words about emotions, but Marshall knew Barney cared, and it was how their friendship worked.
"Now what were you saying about big news?" Lily asked incredulously. Count on her to remember good gossip, Barney thought mockingly.
"Nothing," Robin cut in hurriedly, "Now let's see this bastard!" Robin held her arms out expectantly to find baby Marvin there seconds later, Lily grinning wildly at her.
Count on Lily to take the spotlight, Barney thought happily.
After a warm evening of smiling, baby-talk greetings, and Marvin passing, Robin held the baby again, the rest of the gang held up in their conversation. She smiled faintly when Barney detached himself and made his way over to her.
"You're really good with him," he noted thoughtfully.
"Don't patronize me, Stinson."
"Won't dream of it, Stinson." He smiled back down at her, gently kissing the top of her head. The whole time thinking, maybe this is what happy feels like.
