I'm back and I've missed this… like a lot. Things get crazy, you know how it is, but with that finale and all I think we all deserve an update. I left off where Robin and Barney are engaged and when they try to tell the gang Marshal and Lily –surprise –have Marvin! So… a baby and a wedding coming up. Should be fun.

"They ruined it," Barney loosened his sleeves and plopped down on the bed, pouting.

"They didn't ruin anything. We just have to wait, okay? I know you love making big, grand gestures and in your mind you're probably already planning something overboard –but we'll figure out how to tell the gang… together."

"Okay, okay" Barney relented, leaning over to peck her on the check before burrowing under the covers. "G'night Mrs. Stinson."

"Ms. Scherbatsky," she quickly corrected but when she turned to look back at Barney and point an accusatory finger in his face, he was already sleeping.

...

"Lemme see him!" Meg sang, holding her arms out to Lily

Lily bit her lip and nodded, reluctantly handing the giggling baby to Meg.

"Wow," Meg said breathlessly. "He's so… wow, Lily."

A genuine smile graced her face. "Isn't he?" Lily whispered.

"I always pictured you two with a boy," Meg smiled. "A little boy to drive you crazy with all his questions and I bet he's always gonna be running, before he can even walk maybe. You can dress him in cute little vests and –"

"Do you want kids Meg?" Lily asked suddenly.

A light shade of pink danced across Meg's face and she nodded sheepishly. "Yeah."

Lily gushed and pulled her into a hug. "Oh, get over here!"

They were still hugging when Barney stormed in, mumbling about something or other.

"Barney?" Lily causally placed her hand on his shoulder.

He scowled at her. "I can't figure it out Lily!"

"Figure what out?" Meg asked gently.

"Well, I can't –" Barney exclaimed then huffed, stomping back out of the bar and leaving the two girls to quickly slip back into the subject of babies.

On the short walk back home, he ran into Robin, bumping her shoulder heavily but then catching her at the last moment.

"Robin! Are you okay? I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there. I just –are you okay?"

Robin had to smile. Barney really had grown up to be an openly caring person and without a doubt she knew he would be a great husband.

"I've just been going crazy thinking of the perfect way to tell the group," he continued, barley pausing for air. "I don't know what's happened to me! Plans are never this hard for me."

"You don't have to worry about it, Barney." Robin grinned wickedly, an idea coming to her.

It probably wasn't the most meaningful thing they could've done or even the most fun, but it was perfect for them. It wasn't serious or even too big a deal; it was just a way of telling them and one they thought of hastily. They weren't nearly sappy enough for anything bigger. So when Robin picked a few wildflowers and Barney carried Robin into the bar bridal style, humming here comes the bride the whole gang rushed up and congratulated them and it was probably better than some boring toast anyway.

Would you guys mind commenting what you thought of the finale? I'm curious.

I didn't like it to be honest. I feel like Barney did all of that growth during the series and then it all sort of gets torn down. And Ted and Robin? Didn't we already learn they don't work? It felt like she was his second choice too… but that's just me. Tell me what you think!
