I know I haven't been around that much and I don't suspect any sudden breaks for me where I have tons of time to update, so I have to end this. The story that is. I hope you guys know that this was really awesome for me, therapeutic even, and I don't want this to become too bitter sweet, so I'm gonna end it at that. I have some other stories in the works, so don't say goodbye to me just yet, but for now, thanks guys. It's been legendary.
Two years later Barney and Robin were married. The wedding was beautiful, almost everyone they knew came and Barney used almost all of his connections to make it stunning. Even Robin could admit it took her breath away.
Ted and Meg got married a few months after Robin and Barney. They originally insisted on a double wedding, but as Robin so delicately put it, ew, no.
Ted and Meg wasted no time in having twins, which, by the way, are always around, picking up Tumbler the cat and lifting it high above their tiny heads much to Tumbler's protest. And when they're not at their house harassing Barney and Robin's cat, they're out following Ted as he's playing the lute around town and picking wildflowers for their mom and "Aunt Robin and Lily." It's quiet cute actually, even if their hands are often sticky when they hand the flowers up to Robin. She's learned to embrace it.
As for Barney's second love –his job, he's now the boss. Meg still works with him, but more often than not she's with her kids. In fact she's almost never there and Barney gets so mad, but just as he's about to really tell her, to really stick it to her this time, the kids will run up and latch unto "Uncle Barney's" leg and he'll look down into their sweet cherub faces and insist Meg take more time off. How could she not with such adorable kids? Barney doesn't even care that he's being played by this adorable girl and this sweet boy and if that's not irony, Robin doesn't know what is.
Lily and Marshal, after their large falling out with their families, made amends. It started out so crazy when they were caught again, but once their families showed up to drag their butts back to wherever they came from, they really saw Marshal and Lily. And, as everyone does, they fell in love with their love.
Now little Marvin and Daisy had grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins; it was all fairly crazy, but Marshal and Lily did crazy very well.
All in all, the gang was happy in a way no one could have expected. Sure, a bunch of crappy stuff happened to them, but they managed because they had each other. It was all very cliché, it almost killed Barney and Robin as they told the gang, but it was true. And that was something not even Barney could complain about.
One comment for the road? Hope this wasn't too corny for you!
