Chapter Six:
~*.*~
'Check yes, Juliet – are you with me?
Rain is falling down on the sidewalk.
I won't go, until you come outside.
Check yes, Juliet – kill the limbo.
I'll keep tossing rocks at your window.
There's no turning back, for us, tonight.
Lace up your shoes.
Aye, oh, aye, oh…
Here's how we do.'

It's been a couple of months since I've heard from Jeff. I still can't seem to shake the sinking feeling I have in my gut that I haven't seen the last of him. I know that he'll be back, eventually. I just don't know when.
Things have gotten better with Emmett. It's not nearly as awkward as it was before. It's still obvious that he has feelings for me, but he doesn't hold that against me, anymore. He's been a lot more understanding about my relationship with James. He still doubts his motives, but I think I've made it pretty clear that he makes me happy.
We've been working out, nonstop. I'm in my physical peak. I've never been this in-shape in my life. It's definitely empowering.
"Have you given any thought about where you want to spend your life?" James as me, as I laid in the grass, trying to catch my breath. We ran for five miles. I need a break.
"I guess I really haven't thought about it."
"Do you want to spend it here?" He asked me. I shrugged.
"I don't want to stay here forever. I'd love to see the world. I love my family and the few friends I have, but there really isn't anything keeping me here." I admitted.
"I can show you the world, Karson." He promised, moving over closer to me. My breath caught. He nuzzled my neck and gently lowered himself on top of me.
"What's the catch?"
"You'd have to put up with me." He whispered. My eyes fluttered closed. I felt his lips against mine. I swear I'll never get tired of this feeling. I pressed myself closer to him and kissed him back.
"I would only slow you down."
"I don't mind slowing down for you."
"Not yet – I'm sure you will, one day." I disagreed.
"You're assuming that you'll be human forever."
"Won't I?"
"Not if you decide you want something more." He whispered, stroking my face.
"I thought you wanted to take it slow." I challenged.
"I do, but I'm not ignoring the possibility, either."
"Let's see where life takes us." I suggested. He nodded.
"Where would you like to see before you die?" He asked me. I shrugged.
"I want to visit every state. I'd like to go to Europe, New Zealand, and South America." I told him. He nodded.
"We can go, whenever you like." He promised.
"Don't make promises you can't keep."
"I never do. We'll go. Just say the word."
"Next week?" I asked. He nodded.
"It's a plan."
"Seriously?" I asked. I have almost enough credits to graduate. I can always finish school when we get back. It would be amazing to get away for awhile.
"Yes. Think of it as a trial run."
"Trial run for?"
"For what things could be like if you weren't always human." He whispered. I couldn't help wanting it. He makes it so easy to want to stay with him. If I was a vampire, I wouldn't have to fear anything. I wouldn't be bullied ever again.
"You've got a deal."

'Run baby run – don't ever look back.
They'll tear us apart, if you give them a chance.
Don't sell your heart.
Don't say we're not meant to be.
Run baby, run – forever will be you and me.
Check yes, Juliet – I'll be waiting.
Wishing, wanting – yours for the taking…
Just sneak out and don't tell a soul goodbye.'
