It has been a little long but I wanted to make sure it was a good chapter with a nice amount of content in it :D I hope you enjoy this and know that a ridiculous amount of research went into this chapter :P enjoy…

John was freezing cold. The wind raced through his jacket and made his skin prickle. He and Sherlock were waiting out the front of Skulduggery and Valkyrie's hotel. For some reason they weren't waiting inside the car.

"Remind me why we're freezing out here instead of sitting in the warm car?" He asked his silent companion.

"The cold helps me think, remember." Sherlock answered without taking his eyes off the building.

John nodded but still didn't feel warmer.

The doors open and the two detectives walked out. Skulduggery was wearing a midnight blue suit with a matching hat. He walked with his hands in his pockets and whistling. Valkyrie was wearing her normal pants and a new leather jacket. This one had buckles tightening around the waist and was just as tight as the other one. She had her hair tied in a ponytail.

"Good evening." Skulduggery greeted cheerfully.

"Hello," John answered, "you excited?" He frowned slightly. Should someone really be looking forward to committing treason?

"Immensely. It has been far too long since I've visited the tower after hours." Skulduggery smiled.

"No one has broken into the tower and escaped before last night." Sherlock announced as they got into the car.

"That's not entirely true. They just don't tell you about the embarrassing break ins and escapes." Skulduggery said back.

"You can't be serious about having broken into the tower and escaped before?"

"Not only once, but twice. Not to mention my mates were with me too." Skulduggery smiled.

"I've never heard these stories before!" Valkyrie complained.

"That's because some things happened and…. Ghastly, Sarcen and Anton were… Let's just say we took a pact never to speak of it. Not even under torture, especially under torture." Skulduggery answered uncomfortably.

"Hmm, I'll have to find out more about this." She smiled evilly.

"I'd like to see you try." Skulduggery scoffed.

"Do you two have a plan?" Sherlock asked from behind the wheel.

"Get in there and see what happens?" Valkyrie suggested.

"Something like that." Skulduggery confirmed.

"Oh boy." John muttered. "Will Mycroft forgive us when we're caught?"

"Of course." Sherlock reassured him. "We're just keeping an eye on the Irish detectives."

"I'd like to see you try." Valkyrie smiled.

The tower was miles more impressive than Buckingham Palace. It wasn't boring and square. The Tower was full of big tall spires, gorgeous big rocks and beautiful lights brightening the sky. Valkyrie was completely in awe. She felt as she did when she first saw magic.

Not only was she taken in by the majesty of the buildings but by the effectiveness. The gates were impressive, the walls high and daunting, and the guards still on patrol.

Valkyrie stopped in her tracks and stared up at it.

"Wow," she said breathless, "it's beautiful."

"I'm glad you can still be impressed." Skulduggery commented smiling.

"The blocks are amazing. They're the size of my head." She exclaimed in awe.

"The tower is made from Caen stone that was imported from France." Sherlock informed her.

Valkyrie inspected the tower for a second longer. She wanted to keep the image in her mind forever. It was the most breath taking sighted she'd seen since she learnt about magic. It was like sorcery, completely unique to every different person.

She sighed. "How are we getting in?"

"I'll pick the lock." Skulduggery told them. "But we need you to distract the guards. When we're inside we'll get in through the Queen's House."

"Where?" She asked.

"Just go distract the guard and then slip in." He gave her a quick push in the right direction and she hurried off.

Valkyrie picked out the map in her pocket, opened it nice and wide and added a swing to her hips and walking style.

The guard wore black pants and a black tunic with red stitched around the outside. He also wore a ridiculous big, poufy hat. She had to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing.

"Excuse me!" She called out.

The poor guard frowned.

"Yes you." She hurried up to him swaying unstably from side to side like some sort of bimbo. "Umm, I have a question. Can you help me?"

"Is that the question or do you have another one?" The guard asked bitterly. He obviously wasn't in a good mood and didn't like the thought of being pestered by an idiot.

She giggled and gestured to her map. "Ummm, you see I was meant to meet my friends at the Tower of London, but I can't seem to find it."

The guard looked at her blankly. "Are you serious?"

Valkyrie frowned. "Yeah."

"It's the massive building behind me."

She bit her lip and leaned around him to look up at the tower. "Are you sure?"

"Yes I am sure." He snapped. "The tower is closed. Maybe you should call your friends again."

"No, but they said we would meet here." She whined.

"I'm sorry I can't help you." The guard went to turn around and walk closer to the tower. Valkyrie panicked as she saw Skulduggery, Sherlock and John kneeling down picking the lock of the gate.

"But!" She lunged forward, opened the map wide and covered his face with it. "I don't know where I am."

"Madam, excuse me! I can't see!" The guard started objecting. He tried to push her away but she just moved closer. He tried walking away, twisting but she kept the map firmly up.

"I just need help! I can't even find the tower on the map." She told him.

"Just, move the map! Stop! Miss I have the authority to arrest you!" He said loudly. He made a dash for it but their legs got tangled and the two fell onto the ground. "I'm sorry."

The poor man apologized as he attempted to untangle their limbs. He finally made it and stumbled backwards. He stared down at her.

Valkyrie had managed to open out the map wide and lay on her stomach examining it closely. Both of them were silent and still for a few moments.

"Is there some sort of restaurant nearby? Called the tower?" She asked, looking up at him.

He coughed and straightened his uniform. "Yes, I think there is one. Down the road. Down Lower Thames street."

She sighed dramatically. "Well, I guess I better hurry. My friends will probably start without me." She smiled, stood up and tucked her map away.

"Thanks for all your help!" She waved, turned and began to walk off.

When the guard turned around she turned the cloaking sphere on and hurried back up to the gate. She slipped through the just open gate and Skulduggery closed it silently behind her.

"Nicely done." He complemented.

"You could have worked quicker." She snapped and turned off the sphere.

"I was testing just how well you can lie under pressure."

She raised an eyebrow. "Like when you allowed me to be held underwater until I almost drowned so I knew how long it would take me to drown?"

He hesitated for only half a second. "Just like that."

"Where do we go now?" Valkyrie rolled her eyes and whispered.

"This way." Skulduggery walked off around the courtyard, staying to the shadows.

DUN DUN DUN! What's gonna happen next? Will they end up caught or did Valkyrie successfully scary the guard away? :D please leave a nice review!
