The door was a deep green with a brass knocker and the number stood out clearly. It was a was a safe haven next door to where they'd had coffee two days before. Valkyrie bent over double and took great big gasps of breath. John fiddled with keys and finally unlocked the door.
Valkyrie took one last look around to ensure that they hadn't been followed, and entered 221b Baker Street.
xXxXxXxXx
They trampled up the stairs and collapsed on the couches. She brushed the hair away from her face and looked around the room.
There was a big fireplace with an elegant mirror above it; bookshelves adorned the walls on both sides, two chairs rested in front of it, a cluedo board hung on the wall and there was a table covered in papers and notes. A violin stood on its stand in the corner and a cluttered, but most likely organised, kitchen attached to the room. The wall behind her was covered in the nicest wallpaper with a strange face painted on it that had been shot to death many a times.
"Is this Sherlock and yours apartment?" Valkyrie asked.
"Yeah, but we don't have any snacks or…. anything edible really." John told her sadly.
"Sherlock, John, what's all the noise about?" A woman's voice demanded. An old woman hurried into the room. She had short, blonde hair and a kind face.
She stopped as soon as she saw Valkyrie. "Ooohh, I've sorry dear. I didn't notice you there. Are you John's new girlfriend? He's had a few."
Valkyrie coughed nervously, took her feet off the coffee table, sat up straight and attempted to hide how tight her clothes were.
"Mrs Hudson this is Valkyrie, Valkyrie this is Mrs Hudson our landlady. Val's not my girlfriend she's a detective working on the same case as Sherlock and I." John explained quickly and efficiently.
"Fraternizing with the enemy?" Mrs Hudson said surprised. "Does Sherlock know she's here?" She whispered to John.
"Not yet but he will." John muttered, shot a sorry smile at Valkyrie and then messaged Sherlock.

"You're a little young to be a detective aren't you dear?" Mrs Hudson asked as she poured them all a cup of tea.
"I started very young. I was twelve when I first began." Valkyrie told her. After assuring the landlady that she was not the enemy and was in fact just a friend helping with the case she had found that she really liked the woman.
"That's awfully early. Then again I was your age when I married my husband, the scumbag." She chuckled.
"You're married?" Valkyrie asked.
"Not anymore thanks to Sherlock." Mrs Hudson smiled at some far off memory.
The front door slammed open and footsteps thundered on the stairs. Sherlock and Skulduggery appeared at the door way.
Valkyrie jumped to her feet and Skulduggery slumped in relief.
"Are you alright?" He asked, his voice much flatter than normal.
"I'm fine. I'm truly fine." She assured him.
"Ryu sent people after us like a complete and utter coward. He left in a hurry." Skulduggery announced as he walked into the middle of the room.
"Mrs Hudson, please close your mouth and we don't want tea thank you." Sherlock told her.
She complied but opened her mouth again to continue.
"And can you please leave?" He continued, ushering out of the room. "Thank you, maybe bring up some chocolate biscuits."
He closed the door in her face and looked back towards the two Irish detectives who were whispering in the corner.
"What are you not telling us about the case?" Sherlock asked straight out.
The two looked over to him.
"We know as much as you do." Skulduggery answered seamlessly. "Probably less. You've been keeping secrets Mr Holmes."
"No secret that is as big as yours." Sherlock replied. "Who is Ryu working for and with?"
"We'll tell you if you tell us where they are?" Valkyrie snapped.
"I don't know." Sherlock responded.
"What secrets are you keeping?" John demanded.
"We're allowed to keep secrets!" Valkyrie huffed.
"Not ones that put all our lives in danger." Sherlock pointed out.
"When they become need to know you'll know them." Skulduggery told them.
"I think we need to know now since we both nearly died tonight!" John said angrily.
"You've been keeping important information to yourselves and we've been open about everything that is important to this case." Skulduggery argued.
"We have to tell each other everything to continue." John announced. "Otherwise this case will fail and the world will end as we know it."
"You think America being angry with England will be the worst of it?" Valkyrie laughed bitterly. "You have no idea how this is going to play out."
"Then why don't you tell us?" Sherlock asked quickly.
"Because you don't need to know." Skulduggery snapped.
"Of course we need to know!"
"You think you're so superior to us but if it wasn't for me you'd be dead tonight!"
"If she was dead I'd kill you myself!"
"I can bloody well take care of myself in a fight!"
"You both are violent uncivilized people who will just get us all killed!"
"At least then we'll be able to get some sleep!"
"You're a blood robot with no emotions and no idea of anything!"
"Oh please, compared to me you have less intelligence than an ant!"
"Haha, you are so stupid and you don't even know it!"
"I think you are just a self obsessed man who actually knows nothing, and I think_." Whatever Valkyrie thought was interrupted by Mrs Hudson walking into the room with two packets of tim tams, two packets of chocolate coated teddy bear biscuits and a packet of royals.
"I'm sorry dears to interrupt, but I didn't know what type you wanted so I brought them all." She apologized and put the biscuits on the table.
"That's alright. Thank you very much for the tim tams." Valkyrie thanked and eagerly accepted three.
"Eat up dear, you're much too skinny." Mrs Hudson told Skulduggery before leaving the room again.
There was an awkward silence.
Skulduggery cleared his throat and adjusted his tie. "I believe we must both reveal the truth before we can move forward in this investigation. We will explain the true reason we are here tomorrow. The man I went to meet two days ago has a daughter. She could be bold enough to answer our questions so that is where we'll go. On the way we'll explain everything if you do too."
"That sounds fair but why not now?" John asked.
"I'm incredibly tired." Skulduggery answered. Valkyrie smiled behind her tim tam.
xXxXxXxXx
Valkyrie was sitting in the back next to John while Skulduggery drove and Sherlock watched him critically. She had slept on the sofa, John slept on the floor, Skulduggery meditated in John's room and Sherlock had slept in his own bed. Now they were on their way to see the vampire's daughter. Hopefully she will give them the missing answers, but along the way they had to explain who they were.
"Valkyrie, why don't you tell them how you became a detective?" Skulduggery answered after almost fifteen minutes of awkward silence.
"Ummm," she coughed, "well my uncle had just died and I was staying in his house. There was this guy who tried to rob the house and then I became a detective."
"Well that explains everything." John muttered.
"I'm not good at retelling stories!" She objected strongly. "Skulduggery you tell it!"
"Fine." He snapped. He took a deep breath and smiled widely. "Valkyrie and I belong to an, organisation called the sanctuary. We_,"
The world was filled with screeching metal, the world turned upside down as the car flipped through the air. Valkyrie's head smashed through the window, the car landed on its roof and skidded across the ground. She cried out as glass sliced into her skin and she fell out of the car, tumbled across the asphalt and finally came to a stop.
She moaned and looked up.
Four men got out of the four wheel drive that had just driven right into them. The men moved fast with smooth strides. Vampires.
Valkyrie tried desperately to stand up. The world was completely silent around her and she couldn't hear anything but a long low buzzing.
Skulduggery stumbled from the wreak. He was holding his head and shaking it as if to clear it. A vampire walked up to him and shot him point blank six times in the head. Skulduggery dropped to the ground and didn't move.
Valkyrie screamed out his name but couldn't hear her own voice. A hand grabbed her arm and she lashed out.
The man sneered and pushed her to the ground. She laid there and gasped for breath. He knelt down, grasped her head and slammed it onto the ground.
Red exploded across her vision and then everything went blank.
I left another cliff hanger :D I feel so evil….. MWAHAHAHA!
The more reviews I receive the quicker I'll update ;P
