'Together we made it.
We made it, even though we had our backs up against the wall.
As you can see, I survived the worst, but my life is glorious.
Better know that I leaped every hurdle and I'm so victorious.'

Chapter Twenty-Seven:

I groaned as my phone started ringing. I just woke up and was hoping to go back to sleep. I don't see that happening. I fumbled around in the dark and tried to find my cell. Who would be calling at three in the morning, anyway?

"Hello?" I asked, my voice still gruff from sleeping. I heard someone chuckle on the other end of the call.

"Hello sweetheart, did I catch you at a bad time?" Klaus asked. I sighed. I should have known it would be Klaus calling me in the middle of the night, like it's completely normal.

"Who needs sleep?" I asked him, sarcastically. He just laughed, again.

"I was calling to let you know that I have acquired the tombstone. I'll be in town later today with the Gilbert boy. Will you be able to perform the spell?" He pressed.

"Yeah, yeah, that's fine. I told you that I would be able to." I yawned.

"Excellent, then I'll let you sleep, love. I'll come by to collect you tonight, before the moon is up." He said, decidedly, before hanging up. I stared at my phone for a minute, before setting it down. It's finally happening – I can't believe it.

It's been a week since Klaus told me that he was closing in on the tombstone. I didn't really believe that he'd make this kind of headway so fast. At least it's finally happening.

"Knock, knock," Damon sang, as he opened my bedroom door. I looked over at him, still in bed. I've been up for hours. I couldn't really sleep after Klaus called in the wee hours of the morning. I showered and got dressed, but really didn't have the energy to do much else. "Want some company?" Damon asked me.

"It depends on who is offering." I teased. He smirked and walked over to the bed, before lying down on top of me.

"I'm offering. Come on – we both know that you can't resist all of this." He winked, gesturing to his body. I laughed.

"Well, if it's you, then I guess it's okay."

"Damn straight, Judgy." He smirked, before kissing me. I sighed and pulled away. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, Klaus and Elijah are in town. I'm meeting up with them in a few hours." I told him. He looked at me, cryptically. "They found Jeremy and the tombstone. I'm gonna do the spell."

"Are you sure that's a good idea? What if it's too much for you to handle alone?" Damon asked me, as he stroked my face and his other hand caressed my side.

"I handled in my vision. I don't have anything to worry about it." I promised him. He made a face.

"I don't like it." He sighed.

"I already agreed to do it. I can't just back out now."

"I'm not asking you to – I just don't like it." He clarified. I looked at him, quizzically. He couldn't have told me this before I went to see Klaus after I came out of my vision. Really?

"I can't change it, Damon." I breathed.

"Maybe you don't have to," Stefan said, from the door. I looked over at him.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"Did you get lonely, brother?" Damon asked him, with his signature smirk back in place.

"What if Sheila went with you? You said that you had no problem doing the spell alone, before, but what if your Grams went with you as a precautionary measure? You wouldn't have to draw on her powers unless something went wrong." Stefan suggested as he made his way over to the bed. I shrugged.

"Only if she's okay with it," I relented. Stefan smiled.

"She offered last week." He beamed. I laughed. Of course she did. Everyone is just full of surprises.

"Let me check with Klaus first."

"Why?" Damon prodded.

"Do you really want me to go out of my way to piss off an Original?" I asked them both. They didn't say anything. "I didn't think so."

After talking with my Grams and Klaus, we decided that Grams would be going with me to do the spell. Klaus didn't seem to care if she tagged along, especially if it increased the chances of the spell working in his favor. That was probably the selling point for him.

I spent the rest of my free time with Damon and Stefan. We didn't do much. Zach made me lunch and I ate while I listened to guys try and decide who was hotter between the two of them. I wouldn't choose a better looking brother, so they opted for a tie. I doubt it's the last I'll hear from it, though.

"Are you ready, love?" Klaus asked me, as I set everything up for the spell. I nodded. I've already watched him kill a werewolf and a vampire. He drained Jeremy; thankfully he had his resurrecting ring on.

"I'm ready." I assured him. He smiled.

"Perfect," He breathed. I started chanting, quietly. Qetsiyah's blood began to ooze out of the tombstone. I remembered the spell that I used before and just as quickly as it was over last time, it was over this time.

I watched Klaus make his transition. It worked. I didn't stick around to see it last time.

When Jeremy is breathing again, I'll need to empty some of his blood into a container for Klaus to keep. After I spell the container, it'll really be over. Finally.

"I can't believe it's finally over." I laughed as I dropped onto the couch at Grams'.

"You're delirious." Stefan mused, as he watched me, clearly amused.

"I think she deserves to be a little delirious." Damon shrugged as he landed gracefully next to me. "Don't be a sourpuss." Damon goaded Stefan.

It took Jeremy hours to come to. Klaus acquired a much nicer glass bottle for me to spell with Jeremy's blood. I cast a protection spell on the bottle, so it wouldn't break, in addition to the replenishing spell. No one else needs to die for Klaus' hybrids. I don't like that two supernaturals had to die for his hybrid ascension, but it's better than the alternative.

"You're right. What do you want to do? It's your day and I think we all deserve to celebrate." Stefan came 'round. I smiled at them.

"I think that we should sleep. We made sure that Grams got home okay. We should go home and sleep. When we wake up we should have a kick-ass day. Who's with me?"

"Fuck yeah, I'm down." Damon agreed.

"I can't say, 'no,' to you." Stefan smiled. I fist-pumped.

"Then it's settled." I mused. Tomorrow is gonna be awesome.

'…Never resting the question if I was out of my mind…
And it finally came time to do it or let it die, so we put the chips on the table and told 'em to let it ride.
Sing it!
Together we made it.
We made it, even though we had our backs up against the wall.'
