Broken Pieces

As it turned out, getting rid of someone wasn't simply a matter of throwing them out.

There was sunshine outside, but it looked wrong. Hermione felt that no one should have a right to be happy right now, not when she felt so bad. Hearing birds sing felt like a personal insult these days, and she wanted nothing more than for them to shut up and leave her alone.

Never mind that she was oh so truly alone in her too big flat.

She had closed the blinds in an attempt to ward herself from the outside world, but all it did was show her just how much of himself he had left in what had been their home.

Each time she saw a reminder of those happier days, she had the same reaction.

She screamed, and took an immense pleasure in breaking whatever reminder of Ron she found, and then when what had happened would actually hit her and she'd cast the broken pieces of whatever object she had been destroying, wishing she could mend the broken pieces of her heart as easily.

And then it would begin again with something else.

The last thing she remembered was the taste of alcohol after she noticed the engagement ring still proudly displayed on her finger.
