Aaron scratched the back of his neck as he looked around at the various cradle and crib displays. He hadn't even known that there was a difference between the two until the chirpy sales assistant, a brunette twenty something whose name tag clarified her name as Bay, had helpfully explained it.

Thankfully they already had a cradle, a dark brown wooden one that Iranda had inherited from her parents. It was stationary and very old fashioned, but he wasn't going to argue with his wife on using it. No, not when she'd so quietly asked him if it was okay to use it for their firstborn, as if she thought he'd make fun of her for it or worse, demand she throw it out.

Her voice broke into his troubled thoughts, making his attention focus on her as Iranda gently tugged at his arm and pointed to one display, "I like this one Aaron. What do you think?"

Giving his wife a smile, Aaron looked at the indicated crib. Appearance wise, it was basically a larger version of the cradle back at their home, but it had extra features, like a built-in baby monitor, attachable wheels and it also came with an attachment for a mobile. Besides that though, it was apparently the plainest crib in the store.

Bay noticed their focused attention and glanced at the crib herself. Smiling, she gestured to a different one, "Ah, that is a good model, but this one here is one of our most popular! It comes with all those features and more! It also comes with a three year guarantee whereas that one only comes with a one year."

Aaron looked at it and read its display. It certainly did come with more, a lot more. Did a baby really need a temperature adjustable mattress though? Iranda clearly didn't like it, shifting in place next to him as her gaze drifted back to the plainer crib. Her hand tightened a little on his arm and she made a small sound of discomfort. He turned his attention back to his wife, a question on his lips but Iranda shook her head, "I'm fine, just getting a little sore."

Her free hand drifted down to touch her slightly rounded abdomen, as if to soothe the baby inside. Iranda gave him a little smile to reassure him, which he returned before looking back at the sales assistant and saying, "We'll take the first crib please."

Bay's smile faltered a little, "Are you sure sir? We have other, better models and like I said, that model only has a one year guarantee."

Aaron nodded and kept his voice firm as he said, "I know and I'm certain. We'll take the first crib."

Bay gave in and pulled out a scanner. Scanning the crib's bar code, she looked at the read out, "You're in luck sir! We have one left in the back. I'll have it brought around front for purchase. Just wait by front register number three please."

Thanking her, Aaron and Iranda made their way to the front. As they walked, Iranda very shyly said, "Thank you Aaron. I know I'm being foolish but..."

Aaron stopped and pulled his wife into a hug, "You're not being foolish Iranda, you're just looking out for the baby. I can't and won't fault you for that."

She made a happy sound as she pressed against him, murmuring another 'thank you' into his shoulder. He smiled a little, happy that he could make her happy.
