Ice Cream and Talks

By noon the next day, Hermione was once again thanking profusely whoever had the idea to create a Hangover potion, because without it she never would have had the strength the endure Ginny eating all of her chocolate ice-cream, plus her speech on 'no flirting with cute, hot and rich boys without your best friend, because it's definitely not fair if you don't share the eye-candy', and wait a minute what did she just say?

"Ginny, you do realize who we are talking about, right?" She asked, because sometimes Ginny got a little too enthusiastic when given the chance to behave like a teenager again.

Of course Hermione knew that her redheaded friend loved Harry, but according to Ginny, being taken and happily wedded shouldn't 'stop her from appreciating the sights', whatever that meant.

"Of course I do – come on, Hermione, for Merlin's sake, it's all the girls talk about at the Ministry. Can't you even be nice to your best friend and tell me how you managed to land yourself Draco Malfoy? Last I heard he hated your guts and you were perfectly happy doing the same for him."

"Maybe hate is a bit strong," Hermione sighed, before realizing from the all-too familiar glint in the brown eyes in front of hers that she was falling right into her friend's trap. "Not that I like him or anything. Okay, Draco's a nice guy-"

"Ah, so it's Draco already. And to say I was there, defending you in front of all those harpies who were ready to eviscerate you for daring to even talk to their idol…" Ginny shook her head dramatically.

"Shut up –I meant Malfoy. Besides, we both know that you'd rather encourage them to continue than try to stop them," Hermione argued, rubbing her forehead. It really was too early for her to have this pointless discussion.

"So mean of you Hermione… I'm so proud! One day, you'll see, you'll be the one trying to send fangirls after me." She wiped a fake tears from her eye and took some more ice-cream, the level of which was diminishing at an alarming speed.

Hermione decided Ginny didn't need to know that she already had tried – and succeeded in that endeavor well before the redhead had even thought of trying – and instead opted to eye the slowly melting ice-cream with hungry eyes.

"Oh, you want some? Pity, there's not much left… I'm sure there's more in your fridge though, you should go and get it."

"You know, I don't know what's scarier – that you've eaten all of this in less than half an hour, or that you know what I have in my fridge better than I do."

In the end, Hermione went to get the ice-cream, because for some reason it was the only thing able to help her get rid of her remaining headache.

But not before Ginny tried to get her to confess to her non existing crush on her new work partner once again.
