Laughter (interlude)

Here were a few things Hermione couldn't help but notice about Draco's Malfoy laughter.

He laughed quietly, but with his whole body, like whatever he found funny was something intimate, but also overwhelming, like the joke was something he wanted to let you on but wouldn't, because it'd be so much better if you figured it out on your own.

His eyes sparkled with mirth and became so light they could pass for silver. Often it's the only way you could tell he was laughing – when he really laughed, his eyes weren't cold, and they weren't mocking. No, instead they looked warm.

It was also pretty rare – they had been working together for some time now, but Hermione could count on one hand the times where she had seen him laugh.

(but here's the one thing she'll never tell anyone – she loves his laugh, loves the way it makes him look so much more human, and she could listen to it all day)
