..sorry for any mistakes taking place in this chapter. Unfortunately the spark to write this came randomly, and I had to do it on my phone. Leave comments , and tell me what you think. If I get enough interest, I'll start writing for you guys again. Love, lex.
Sophie.
Thankfully, the walk to Emily's Bakery was only a few blocks away. Meaning I only had to stomp through 15 minutes of rain and mud and anger issues. But even then, that wasn't enough to cool down my rage. Throwing open the tan mahogany door to the the year old business.
The bakery was set up simple and sweet, just like the owner, Emily Uley. Pale yellow floors meeting a light yellow walls. Each wall decked with family pictures and cute quotes. Though, I used the word 'family' losely. It was literally everyone on the Rez. She seemed to forever by surrounded the herd of guys from the beach. Even my least favorite, a grinning Paul from the auto body shop.
But damn was he attractive.
It made me want to take and smash the picture on the wall. Or atleast give it a good kick.
Walking behind the white display counter after squeezing between the two tiny tables the bakery owned for people who wanted to enjoy a nice donut with a steaming cup of joe. And seeing how Emily made the best baked goods around, those two tables were always rotating. Old men in the morning, mothers with young children in the afternoon, teens after school hours. And then unfortunately for the adoring masses, the bakery was only open from 9-4:30 Monday thru Thursday.
Emily had informed she just liked to cook for people, so it was more about making people happy than it was money.
If I only had the same outlook as her. But money was something that I needed to support Lacey, and not all of us had a tall, hunky man with some sort of weird sway on the entire Rez.
In the back room I hung my purse on the coat rack, followed by my soaking wet jacket, before tying on the black apron. Turning around I saw Emily, hands and pants covered in a light layer of flour from kneading dough.
she turned her head, a soft smile on her face, a smile. Her long black hair was pulled up at the nape of her neck, and the jagged scars on her face were hardly noticeable.
"Good morning, Sophie. Thanks for staying so late last night to finish those cupcakes for Mrs Clarkes baby shower." Emily said, the smile turning to a small frown as she turned around. "I take it back, you sweetheart, look like you've had a terrible morning."
she did not know the half of it. I threw my hands up in the air as I stomped over to the sink, throughly washing my hands. "So after leaving last night, my car freaking broke down. So I get out and a wolf the size of a bear is watching, ready to eat me and pick his teeth with my bones. So I ran for it. I ran probably faster than I ran in track in high school. Coach Livensten would be pissed I held out on him." drying my hands, I continued with my encounter with the prick at the auto body shop prior to coming here.
Emily did her best to hide a knowing smile, turning around and separating her dough. "Well, some people hide behind anger, just remember that."
What the hell was that supposed to mean?
"Now," she began, " know what will make you feel better."
"An entire bottle of Jack Daniels?"
"Nope, making cream puffs." She then turned, ushering me towards the mixer with a smile on her face. "Why don't you come to dinner tonight? Bring Lacey, she can play with Claire."
Frowning while grabbing the sugar, I shook my head "I don't kno-"
"Shush, you're coming. It's a small family meal, and we'd love to have you there.

Pulling up to Emily's quaint house, Beas borrowed car frowning softly in protest to the rocks, I peaked into the rearview mirror to check on Lacey. Her hair in blonde pigtails, she continued playing with her toys, murrmuring to them softly.
"You ready to play, Lace?" Her blue eyes darted up, and she treated me with a big smile.
"duh!" She chirped back.
Sighing neevously, I parked the car, turning the engine off and unbuckling myself to get out and grab Lacey from the back. "Dang girl, you're getting heavy." I teased.
It must be something in this damn water, seeing how everyone here is gigantic.
Maneuvering through the stone path and flowers that had surprisingly not drowned, I made my way to the door, about to reach out a hand to knock when the door was jerked open. A smiling monster of a teen boy who towered over me was standing there, I'm cut off jeans and a worn shirt.
"Hey, Em, she's here!" He called. If I remembered correctly, this one was Seth, though in my defense, they all looked alike. Black hair, pretty skin, and dark eyes.
We were met with a loud chorus of men whooping and hollering, and it was obvious it wasn't just some "small" family dinner.
The whole fucking tribe was here.
